IOS 4 calendar has a Bug!?

Hi. When i save my granny's birthday September 27. 1925 to her contact information on my iphone4 (newest Software 4.2.1), it is shown totally false in the iphone's calendar.
In calendar it's marked as an annual event at Dezember 13.
A BUG? ... or is my granny to old for iPhone? What can i do?

No, I'd meant to mark it as a non-question. It's an informational post. I'll close it as answered.

  • IOS 7.0.3 Calendar has DST Bug - at least for US CT

Informational -- I awoke this am to find a bug with iOS 7.0.3 DST calendar display. It was discovered a week ago when Europe went to standard time. It impacts phones in Central Time (Chicago) but not ET. Don't know about other zones.
Phone alarms and appointment times are correct, but the red line that indicates current time on the standard calendar view is one hour off. Impacts Calendars 5 too, I guess they call same API.
Very annoying. Apple Insider and Lifehacker wrote about it last week.
I can think of ways Apple could spend some of their billions.

I noticed that on my phone today (4s) and my son's (5s). The Red line indicates the correct time, but the location on the day view of the calendar is incorrect. I've reported this via Apple feedback, maybe you could do the same. www.apple.com/feedback and click on the appropriate link.

    Hello,
Same problem for me. Really a pain in the *** this bug ! Does Apple fixed it. I'm really suprised noone reports this problem  and apple does not adress this.
Because of that, I cannot give it anymore to children because it hurts the view. Really a shame on the part of apple !

  • IOS 7 has disabled calendar,notes

I just updated or upgraded to iOS 7 on my iPad Mini, and the backup to my Mac Mini, and the problems are as follows:
    1. The ipad calendar has the text reduced in size from about 6 to 4, is now a light gray instead of black, the alerts to my backup mac to not transfer.
    2. The ipad notes has a similar problem, where the text is grayed out on a white background.
    3. The backup mac mini has the problem where the sync to the ipad does not always work, and also inreverse as well.
    4. I increased the text size in settings, but I cannot see where that is happening.
    5. The text for the icon names or titles are smaller, and hard to read.
    6. The main problem, is that I have a hard time reading this smaller text, that is grayed out. It is hard to read to be able to use the calendar, and the sync doesn't really work.
    7. Since I purchased this ipad mini to be a killer PDA, now the update/upgrade to iOS 7 has defeated that purpose.
So, how do I get this ipad mini to return to iOS 6.x and then to restore that to my mac mini as well?
I really need to have the calendar, notes, contacts, and reminders. The rest I can live without.
Having this very hard to read, makes this ipad mini not very useful.
What will it take to correct this to be able to use this again or is it not possible at all? If so, then I will no longer be able to use this device.
    Please help me with this.
    Thanks

I suppose you will have to wait for the next update of these apps or iOS 7.0.1 perhaps? As I recall it took only a few days for an x.0.1 update the last time.
Too bad Apple does not test anything with users over 50 years old... and more than a third of the iPad users are over 50.
I also updated my iPad to iOS 7.0.1 yesterday, and am finding that the Notes app crashes every time I try to update certain notes that I created today on my iPad 3.

After ios7, My iphone4 has gone dead twice in a time frame of around two months...even though its not happening very often but a two month Old phone going dead just after a New update is not acceptable.probably ios7 still has sum bugs dat need to be fixed...Can this bug expected to be fixed in the next update...

    Hi 1283ar.
Unfortunately, iOS 7 is too hard to push for the iPhone 4 and therefore has a lot of effects turned off to try to get it to run as smoothly as possible.
However, it becomes better and better with each update coming but it's hard to do anything about the hardware on an already released phones.
If you still have trouble or think they are too hard. My tip is, if so, to restore your iPhone 4 and make a clean setup with no iCloud backup. But all your photos in a photostream so you can access it later.

  • Recurring event times wrong by 1 hr only in iOS calendar

I just noticed that all my recurring events seemt to be one hour later in the Calendar app on my iPhone (iOS 5.1). In the iCloud calendar (on the web site) the times are correct.  I don't know if this happened right after the recent "spring forward" daylight savings time change, or right after the update to iOS 5.1.
All my other events are showing the correct time. Only the recurring events are shifted one hour to the future in the iOS calendar.
Is anyone else seeing this problem? Any ideas for a fix?
(And, before you ask, my iPhone has the correct time zone setting and is configured to automatically set the time; and I haven't left my timezone in over two months.)
    Dave Hein

I found the problem. When the tasks were initially created, I did not have Time Zone Support turn on in iCloud (the website) or on my iPhone or in iCal on my Mac.  The events were all created over the winter, not during daylight savings time.
I turned on Time Zone support in iCloud, on my iPhone, and in iCal. That did not fix the problem. But I noticed that, in iCloud, when I turned on Time Zone support, the initial time zone it selected was "Central Standard Time".  But I'm now in Central Daylight Time; so I tried setting the time zone (using the little popup map widget is tricky!) and found I could also set the Time Zone to "Central Time" -- no 'daylight' or 'standard' distinction. So I set it to Central Time.
Still no joy.  But then, still in iCloud Calendar, I double clicked on one of the offending events and in the set of properties display was now a Time Zone property ... and it was still set to Central Standard Time.  So I went into each event that was at the wrong time and changed the time zone from Central Standard Time to Central Time.
My guess it that "Central Time" is a time zone designation that means it will automatically switch between standard time and daylight savings time.
So, everything is working again. Hope this helps someone.

Your ios 7 has broken my wifi connection on my ipad. I hve a brand new router 30hrs old. My ipad 2 is not jail broken, jst ios 7 broken! Turning my router on and off could possibly break this also. Entropy seems solid!
My iphone 4 has no issue with ios 7 nor my apple tv!? This is becoming very fustrating nd quite annoying, I never had a problem with ios 6. Issue purely with
ios 7. Had to have telephone connections checked also, no luck! Have also spent monies on xtra GB, problem still persists, making it very unreliable to wrk with product! Would like to remain with product? If problem can be contained and rectified. Confidence is quite low in remaining with company. Can there be a speedier solution to this unreliable update, thats just manifesting in my ipad2 before it becomes stagnant. Just knowing if your technicians cannot solve the problem would ease my mind if i need to re-invest with another company (sadly) for my ipad2 works perfectly with all apps, its just the main heart beats been cannabalized, as though you have three repeaters missing in your program???? To keep our WIFI on the matrix because itz not in the Matrix. Have tried your quck fix solutions only to find their only wishful thinking. (Downtime)
Next message i read prefferably would be a lot more solid and positive in solving this technical glitch thats becoming nothing but a big itch so K. I. S. S use our S. W. A. Since posting this hopeful delima, iOS 7 has stayd connected for at least a solid 12 hrs+, iCloud backup has now been running more than 5.5 hrs with no interruptions, storage information at top of page has also disappeared indicating a backup rate of 60% success, f this b my new iOS, I only have heart crossd, not fingers. Future update, Probable. Hopefully finger on the button, Confidence, High!!!
    So far wifi still connected

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Exchange iOS calendar sync 4 cancellations & accepted meetings

Using corporate Exchange 2010 servers for calendar and email me and my co-workers experience the following annoyance.
When a meeting in outlook is cancelled and this is accepted using the windows client, the cancelled meeting is still shown in de ios calendar. It is noted cancelled using strikethrough, but it still clutters my calendar. As my calendar is a battlefield these cancellations make it hard to see which meetings I do have... How can I change this behaviour?
Similarly for accepted meetings, these (with cancellations aswell) remain unprocessed in my ios calendar tray while I allready accepted or rejected the invitations using outlook in windows.
I'm referring to ios because I have this problem with both my iPhone (4S on ios5, no iCloud sync for calendar) and iPad (2 on ios5, no iCloud sync for calendar).
Result: cancelled meetings have to be removed manually on iphone en ipad, invitations in outlook have to be processed three times (pc, iphone, ipad).
My questions: is this behaviour recognized? (i.e. is our Exchange setup different or is this a general problem).
Any tips/hints how to solve these bugs? or should I try to accept them as features...
    Thx!
    Mike

Having same issue with following equipment:  PC (standard corp issue laptop), BB (Blackberry phone), Tablet (Blackberry Playbook tablet)
    Here are the steps:
    Send out 3 meeting invites
The emails shows up on all 3 devices, PC, BB, Tablet
Before you open the email and accept/tentative/decline that invite...all 3 devices show the 3 "unaccepted" meetings on the calendar
Then accept meeting invite #1 on the PC, accept meeting #2 on the BB, and accept meeting #3 on the Tablet
After the acceptance all 3 meetings they show up fine in the calendars on the PC and BB...no problem here.
But only meeting number 3 which was accepted on the Tablet shows on the Tablet
The problem is that the other 2 meetings which were on the Tablet before being accepted, are removed when accepted.

  • IOS 8.3 bluetooth bug...ugh!!!

So, Apple has done it again with iOS 8.3. I am an aircraft pilot. EVERYTHING I do is on my iPad. I just recently updated to iOS 8.3. Well, I went to take a flight yesterday, and my bluetooth GPS antenna would not connect. (yes, I have paper charts...but it's no fun trying to fly that way.) After 3 reboots, several forget device/connect to device...I got nowhere. Well, I didn't fly that day. However I managed to waste a lot of time going out to the airport, preflighting the airplane, and driving back home that day. I know this sounds like "new world problems". But aren't apple products supposed to "just work"?
Well, I got back home last night and found warnings posted all over every aviation webpage/blog/forum about this bug. It has been confirmed by several companies techies and they have ALL stated that this is an Apple error. Apple has also confirmed this.
    sources...

    http://bad-elf.com/blogs/bad-elf/18013536-alert-compatibility-issue-with-apple-i os-8-3-and-external-gps-receivers
I am now looking for solutions.... Some have downgraded their iPads back to 8.2. I really don't want to have to do this. But many people have blogged that the iOS 8.4 Beta does not fix the issue either. Thanks Apple....
I have all Apple products, and have been an ALL Apple consumer for the past 10 years. But this is unacceptable. Oh , by the way, all the pilots with Android devices are still flying without issue. I never thought I would EVER say this...  But if this issue is not fixed VERY soon, I will be shopping for a new android device. I do NOT relish this thought, but every day with the iOS 8.3 bluetooth bug, is a day that I CAN'T FLY WITH GPS!!!!
I am sure other venues besides aviation are affected by this....       Any other solutions or rumors from the community are greatly appreciated.
    Frustrated pilot.

  • IOS Calendar not displaying recurring appointment on the correct date

I have a recurring appointment set up in Microsoft Outlook, with the following settings:
In Microsoft Outlook, this appointment is correctly displayed on 2 May 2013 at 8:30am.
But, in iOS Calendar, this appointment appears on 8 May 2013 at 8:30am.
In June 2013, Outlook correctly shows this on the 4 June, but iOS Calendar shows this on the 10 June.
Pretty sure this is a bug in iOS Calendar, but maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Maybe it wasn't receiving the correct info from your carrier. You're supposed to turn your phone off once in a while so the carrier can update stuff. I had originally heard that you should do it once a day but I never did that.

  • IOS Calendar - Google CalDAV Alerts Disappear

So I'll make this brief and succint. I have daily alerts set up in my sync'd Google calendar using the native iOS Calendar.
What happens is that I hear the noise on my device (Alert for Calendar event), but when you look at your phone or iPad, the event is gone. As some of these are daily reminders, I know what they are, so I know what I missed. I then started watching my phone during the time change. Sure enough, at the date/time of an event, I would briefly see the alert and it would disappear instantly. This is really frustrating, as at times I have other events that are not daily and those disappear too. I have to go open up the Calendar app to find out what it is. It used to be that the alert would stay up on my screen until I could dismiss/OK it.. so I didn't miss it.
I have a single Google account that I used to add 'CalDav' sync to my iPhone and iPad.
My Google account has 3 calendars (Personal, Family, Good Habits).
These 3 calendars show up, and sync properly with the Calendar app. I see them in there no problem, and it updates.
I have it set up on my iPhone (4s/iOS 6.1) and iPad 3 (iOS 6.1) the same way.
Does anybody else have problems with their Calendar Alerts disappearing from the screen?
For now, the only way I've found to resolve it is to use Google.com/calendar to set up important events to also send me an SMS. This way I at least get a solid notification I can't miss.
I would really love to have the pop-up alerts work properly though. Combing the internet has not yielded help. Using other calendar apps does not help.
Should I be using Exchange to sync my Google Calendars instead of CalDAV? As Exchange support is being dropped by Google, this is not an option.
Thank you all for taking the time to read this, and for any help you can lend.

I recall a couple years ago when I set it up there were limitations, I forget what they were now, to using active sync and people recommended using cardav and caldav.  I have a Google Apps for Domains account that I’m using.  At this point I see no reason to investigate further.
    Thanks again!

  • Strange sorting behavior with iOS calendars

My wife and I both have a two calendars (personal and business) which we are sharing with each other. So four shared calendars, two form my wife and two form myself. All four calendars are iCloud-calendars, two from my wife's account and two from mine.
All calendars are syncing with several devices: one iMac, two MacBooks, two iPads and three iPhones. Today I found out that on the iOS devices the sorting of the calendars has issues.
My preferred order is 1) my personal, 2) my business, 3) wife personal and 4) wife business. On iCloud (via browser) this is fine. On al the OS X devices also, but on the iOS devices 3 and 4 are switched (1, 2, 4, 3 instead of 1, 2, 3, 4). I can reorder them to 1,3,4,2 and several other options on the iOS devices, but 1,2,3,4 is not possible. Any ideas?

I agree Mike; the "IT pride" is a wide spread issue in this line of work that leaves a lame taste of the profession.
Long story short. It was probably corrupt image though there isn't a definitive way to confirm that (again, I try to stay away from the IT people assumptions).
What is back and white is the remedy. After formatting the flash and uploading the SAME image the SNMP problem went away.
    Thanks
    ~B

  • How to set up iOS calendar app with shared Google Calendar data

At work (in our small office) I've been given access to the shared Google Calendar that has our work schedule. It was set up using this page (click on Share an existing calendar):
    https://support.google.com/calendar/answer/37082
The question I have is how to set it up to work with iOS calendar app on my iPhone?

"currently there is no shared group calendar support."
Well, not really. You hinted at it with: "set up a group wiki."
Go into Workgroup Manager and set up an Open Directory group. Add people to it.
Each client must then go into iCal --> Preferences --> Accounts and add an account. The name and password entered must be the same as that added to the group, Kerberos must be unchecked, and the account URL will be like (fill in the blanks properly):
    http://<your domain name here>:8008/principals/groups/<your group name here>/
Now each properly logged in user of that group can make changes to the shared group calendar, without any "hacks" like making dummy users and delegation.
However, I am getting a notifier: "Request Error: Accesss to <event name> in <your group name here> in account <your group name here> is not permitted." But that seems to be a lie, since multiple members of the group can make changes and others can see the changes.
Oh yea, make sure you have a functioning DNS with valid reverse lookup.
