IOS 4 caused my iPhone 3GS to die :p

Hi guys,
Just got my replacement 3GS through the post yesterday, was away today so only just managed to get it updated to 4. It got just over half way on the iPhone progress bar and its not progressing any further. Any help? Its going back to the shop tomorrow for a dead pixel. (yes, 1 day after receiving and it has a dead pixel).

Tried updating on my Macbook instead and its working fine now.

are you talking about voiceover where the phone is reading things out loud to you? you have to double tap things in voiceover in order to select them. you'll need to go to settings > general > accessibility > and turn off voiceover there

I upgraded to iOS 5 on my iphone 3gs now phone service (AT&T) constanly goes in and out and battery does not hold charge. Can someone help me?

  • When will the ios 7 update for iphone 3GS come???

when will the ios 7 update for iphone 3GS come???

As you know, iOS 7 applies to the iPhone 4 and above.
I advise you not to ever expect iOS 7 for the iPhone 3GS.  Historically, Apple has never released a version of iOS that did not include some older hardware, and later come back to include that hardware.

  • HT4623 How can I retrieve my Contacts that I lost after updating iOs 6 on my iPhone 3GS through wifi?

I lost all my Contacts after updating iOS 6 on my iPhone 3GS through wifi. All my other apps, Notes, Photos, etc are as it is but none of my Contacts appear. I also signed up to iCloud during the update but can't find Contacts on iClouds. Pls help!

It is strange people experience this problem only with Contacts because normally contacts are backed up with Notes and Photos and that stuff. If you are willing to do a do-over, you can try to backup, restore, and put your data back on again and see if anything new appears. You never know if some file clould have had some kind of conflict because iOS 6 was being installed while data was being restored at the same time.

  • IOS Beta 7 OTA, iPhone 3GS stuck flashing between Apple Logo and a white screen

After installing iOS Beta 7 OTA, iPhone 3GS is stuck flashing between Apple Logo and a white screen. I can turn the phone off by holding the top button. But the phone boots straight to the flashing situation. It doesn't appear in iTunes, and I haven't succeeded in putting into recovery mode.

in the end ... i did it too.
for sure, the problem is not related to OTA update
this is my recipe, even if i think that the behaviour is a kind of random and all the recipes given here do not really help
    - absolutely needed: cross your finger before running the procedure
    - leave the battery run flat
    - open itunes
    - connect usb
    - when it starts booting, press home and keep it pressed
    - if it loops (it will ...), try to turn it off with power button while keeping home
    - after a few tries, it will not reboot and it will go into recovery mode BUT WITH SCREEN BLACK (you see it is in recovery mode in itunes)
    - upload ios5b7
anyway ... this time it was a bad release by apple ...
and i think this thread will become very "popular" in the next days

  • Ios 5 update on iphone 3gs takes 36 hours???

ios 5 update on iphone 3gs takes 36 HOURS??? that's the msg i got when i tried to update to ios 5! what the? has anyone run into similar issues when updating their 3gs? Could it be due to the apple servers being overloaded really? Then how come my housemates had no issues updating their iphone 4 to ios 5? is it coz mine's an iphone 3gs?

Had to restore the phone to fix, after making sure all the possible settings everywhere were United States and English, but it worked. Still find it amazing that an update would change so many settings in so many places, especially the ones that aren't on the phone.

    iPad2 sync is fine.

This sounds like a problem you should take up with Apple Customer Support.

  • Upgrade to IOS 5 is causing my Iphone 3gs to go over my AT&T data plan

Ever since I upgraded my Iphone 3gs to IOS 5, I have been going over my 200mb data plan with AT&T. I never had a problem with going over my data plan before this update. I looked up my invoice and noticed that when I downloaded the IOS software, I was being charged for it while I was on Wi fi at home. I called AT&T and they removed the $15 data overage charge but I still am going over my data plan and I don't even use my phone. I read on the apple bulletin boards that there might be a virus in the Icloud software, so I deleted the Icloud. I have turned off all push notifications and now I have turned off the cellular data, which makes no sense to do but it has helped. I downloaded the Dataman app to monitor my data constantly. I contacted AT&T and they told me to contact Apple about this problem. Are there any other suggestions? I already updated to the IOS 5.01 and that still did not help. I don't want to upgrade my ATT data plan and pay more money since I already shelled out an extra $15 this month for the overrage.

    Disable firewall on your computer.
If you have iOS 5.0 or later, update directly from the phone by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

  • Downloaded iOS 6 to my iphone 3gs it powers on and then crashes

Downloaded iOS6 on my iphone 3gs and it fully downloaded but when it rebooted it kept powering on giving the Apple logo, but then it flickers and turns off

I've used the 'self' updater (not used iTunes) and it does pretty much what you describe.

  • I have recently upgraded my firmware to ios 5 on my iphone 3gs and now i cant access my photos from my computer

i have recently upgraded my my iphone 3gs to ios 5.0.1 and now my computer doesnt recognise it as a camera. is there any way i can access my photos stored on my phone from my computer? i also dont have wifi so i cant use the icloud option.

    Hi Amy,
I have exactly the same problem. Before the update to 5.0.1 whenever I connected my 3GS to my MacBook Image Capture used to open. Now nothing happens. When I opened Image Capture or iPhoto, either program recognized my device as the iPhone, but no pictures showed up on the screen.
I emailed the photo's from the iPhone to myself and that worked OK.
Have no idea why the computer doesn't recognize the iPhone as a camera anymore.
You haven't had any answers on your question, so no solution yet.
    Hope someone can help us.

  • Installing iOS 4.1 on iPhone 3Gs using iTunes 9.2.1

I'm trying to instal iOS 4.1 on an iPhone 3Gs using iTunes 9.2.1 with no luck, it seems. When I follow the instructions as per the Apple website I just get a message saying "This version of iTunes (9.2.1) is the current version". Can anyone shed some light on what might be going on here. Also, I cannot update to iTunes 10 as I am running OSX 10.4.11 and I can't upgrade to OSX 10.5 as I've only got a iMac G5. I'm hoping that I am not stuck in a corner with this one.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    I can't upgrade to OSX 10.5 as I've only got a iMac G5.
Someone else can probably assist with the 4.1 installation issue, but you can indeed install Mac OS X 10.5.x on your iMac G5. It's 10.6, Snow Leopard, that requires an Intel-based Mac. Mac OS X 10.5 is getting a bit hard to find, but it's possible that the Apple Store will still have copies if you call them. 10.5 is not on their web site, but they still had copies of 10.4 long after 10.5 was released, so it's worth a try. If not, a dealer may still have copies, or you may be able to find a retail copy of 10.5 from another user who upgraded to Snow Leopard on a site like eBay (caution: make sure you get the retail, black-label, disk, not the system disk that shipped with another model of Mac).
    Regards.

  • How can i get iOS 5 in mi iPhone 3GS?

I need to downlode iOS 5 but i don't now How

Update it from iTunes on a computer as described at the bottom of this article; devices running an iOS version prior to 5.0 can't be updated straight from the device. It will be updated to the newest iOS release supported by the device’s hardware.
The maximum iOS version for the iPhone 3G and second generation iPod touch is 4.2.1.
The maximum iOS version for the fourth generation iPod touch and iPhone 3GS is 6.1.3.
