IOS 4 / Exchange 2003 No longer works

I just upgraded my iPhone 3G to iOS 4.0. We did not have any problems with connectivity with an Exchange 2003 mail server. Now my Inbox no longer works. My calendar and contacts work just fine. I make an update on my phone and it is pushed to Exchange. We are running Exchange 2003 and ISA Server 2004. I checked the firewall logs and everything is clean. My other external emails are just fine. Any ideas?

I had 3 users show up with iPhone 4s. 2 of the 3 synced fine against Exchange 2003. The third would attempt to sync but eventually time out and get a server connection failed error after adding the account. All three users were previously syncing fine with iPhone 3GS phones against the same Exchange 2003 setup.
Upon further inspection I noticed that the account was successfully connecting and retrieving the mailbox subfolders that the user had created and that the user was able to send mail from his phone. This led me to believe that there was nothing wrong with the account but rather the phone was having trouble enumerating all of the mail in the user's mailbox.
Turns out the user had around 40,744 items in his main inbox folder. Upon creating subfolders for 2004/2005/2006/2007/2008 and moving all older mail into these subfolders, the user was left with approximately 13,000 items in his main inbox from 2009-2010. Immediately after archiving the older mail, the phone began successfully syncing again.
Hope this helps

  • Sending via IMAP Exchange 2003 suddenly stopped working

This is both perplexing -- and maddening -- for months I have been able to SEND using mail.ourdomain.com via our Exchange 2003 server set up for Outlook Web Access.
Last night, I was trying to get my wife's iPhone to work with the same settings as mine -- which it would not.
During my fiddling, I reselected MD5 Challenge-Response checkbox for authentication. It was already checked, but once I reselected I could NO LONGER send email via IMAP / SMTP! It just hangs!
I've tried creating a "new" SMTP server from scratch -- but no luck. Same error ("Cannot Send Mail - The connection to the outgoing server "mail.ourserver.com" failed.
This is the first time I've tried to modify the SMTP sending setup since updating to iPhone 2.1 software.
Is there any DEFINITIVE set of steps for setting up the iPhone to work with Microsoft Exchange Server configured for OWA? (BTW, Receiving works perfectly).

Sounds like you should take it back to the shop, with BB, to ask for a replacement, and/or get your phone supplier to try with a different model of BB. Mine has not had the problem since using the latest touch screen Bold, so suspect that the BB s/w version does make a difference.

  • Can't send replies using Exchange 2003 account - smtp works fine if I type an address?

We have new IPad users trying to connect to an Exchange 2003 Mail Server.  Everything works well EXCEPT if they try to REPLY TO any message - it brings up a generic "check your mail settings" error every time.
If we compose mail by hand, it sends OK
If we use a contact, send mail to them, it works fine.
We also have IPad users connected to a 2010 Exchange Server, no such problems.
Anyone have similar issues?  Any advice on a fix?

I've got 38 iPhones deployed running the 3.1.2 OS against an Exchange 2007 server. Several of my users complain about the same issue, and I've seen it myself. I have found a workaround of sorts - I've found that if I've sent a message with an attachment and I get a failure to send, if I manually browse down to the Sent Items folder, that forces a replication of the Sent Items. The next time I do a manual sync, the e-mail with the attachment will go.
I presume this has something to do with Exchange trying to put a copy of the e-mail in to your Sent Items at the same time the iPhone is trying to send the message.
Potentially, this might be solved by turning off the option to always store your sent e-mails in the Sent Items. I have not yet tested that as a workaround as from a corporate standpoint and an ease-of-use standpoint, we want that e-mail in the Sent Items for reference.
If anyone has any success with this fix, please let me know.

  • Exchange PUSH no longer working.  Did a hard reset, and restore nothing

Seems this problem is happening everywhere on HOFO and macrumors. Please someone help. I bought this phone for this reason and I am ready to take it back. I need to get my emails as soon as they come in. Apple support was useless too. They know about the problem, but no fix is available. GRR!
The phone was working fine at first, receiving emails, etc. Then it stopped. It would only pull the emails from exchange when you click on the MAIL button and it goes to the next screen. All the settings are set to Push for exchange. Contacts still sync right away. Email will not. We have over 80 other PDA Windows Mobile phones with no problems. I have tried WIFI, 3G only, neither work. Hard reset, restore, new phone settings, etc. Nothing!

probably not quite the same issue as yours, but thought I'd mention it. After switching connection types, my iPhone no longer will push or sync mail. I get a server connection error. I've found that vpn'ing in, sync'ing, then turning VPN off will restore push and sync abilities. I'm hoping this gets fixed, by it's my workaround for now.

  • Exchange Email No Longer Working After 4.3 Upgrade

Has anyone else experienced this? From the moment I upgraded my iPod to 4.3 I can no longer open my Exchange mailbox or contacts and calendars.
I've tried deleting and adding the account again and it appears to accept my details (it validates and creates the account) but as soon as I go into the mailbox I get 'Cannot Get Mail', 'The connection to the server failed'.
I'm the IT system admin at our company so I know that nothing is blocking or set up incorrectly, especially as this only happened from the moment I upgraded.
Does anyone know how to clear certificates on the iPod, this is my only other idea.

You're not alone, we're having exactly the same problem, see this thread over here http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=13197799. Exchange profiles with certs broken by the iOS 4.2 to 4.3 upgrade.

  • Camera flash on ios 7.1 no longer works properly

I have an iPhone 4S.  When I upgraded to ios 7.1, I noticed that my camera flash now goes off pre-maturely, and doesn't illuminate the photo being taken.  Before the upgrade, it worked fine.  Anyone else notice this, and is there a solution?

    Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings

  • My exchange email no longer works

I have deleted my email account countless times but still it will not connect to the server. I took it to the Apple shop who said as a last resort reset the phone to factory setting. So I backed up my phone to icloud and wiped it and still my email will not work. It has been suggested on the forums that the issue with some iphone 5s is the latest 8.3 update. I'm at my witts end as I need access to my email, I just returned from Rome and couldn't access any of my emails for work.

This may help - I won't be able to try it until after work though

  • Exchange 2003 - 2010. Moving public folders one at a time

    Hi all,
I'm in the process of decomisioning our old Exchange 2003 server (long overdue after what has been a relativly smooth and trouble free transition to 2010). As the first step in the decomisioning process, I'm looking to move the public folders from the 2003
box to the 2010 box. From my understanding there are a couple of ways to achieve this (please correct me if I'm wrong). The first is to add the Exchange 2010 server as a new replication partner, allow for replication of the PFs to occur, and then remove the
2003 partner from the replication partnership. The other option is to use MoveAllReplicas.ps1.
I opted for the first option, but the problem I have is that the initial replication process started to generate a very large number of transaction logs on the Exchange 2010 server, to the point I was slightly conccerned I was going to run out of space on
the volume (our server is backed up nightly at which point the transaction logs are normally flushed).Whilst I know I could potentially increase the size of the volume or turn on cicular logging for the duration of the migration (neither of which is appealing
as it will involve down time), I was wondering if there was a way to move a smaller set of Public folders one at a time with a powershell command, or is it an all or nothing operation? My other option may be to replicate a small subset of folders everyday,
but that just a little painful as there are a large number of child folders with in the structure. Any other suggestions welcome!
    Many thanks,
    Rob

    Hi,
If your Public Folder Database is large, you can use tool like Exfolders or ESM to add replica folder by folder.

  • HT1454 iphone 4, composite cable no longer works with ios6 update

I have the iphone 4, and I used an apple composite cable to watch youtube, videos, etc on my TV through an AV input. But when I upgraded from IOS 4 to IOS 6, it no longer works. Says something along the lines of "accessory not supported" or close to that. The iphone used to go into a display mode, where nothing shows on the phone's screen, and everything shows on the TV. But now it doesn't even do anything but give me an error message. Any ideas?
In sum, it worked before, but updated, and now no longer works.

It was the cable connector seating.
It looked fully attached, but on removal and FIRM attachment it worked.
If the AV iPod connector is not fully seated you get this error. The old iPod connector used a locking connection with a positive click, the AV cable uses a lockless connector that differs from the newer lockless iPhone connector. I suspect the AV cable connector was a transitional design that may have more connectivity issues.

  • Exchange 2003 and snow leopard

This is a short post to thank Denis Tolo
for pointing out how to get Exchange 2003 servers to work with
ical address book and mail : DavMail.
This was a real lifesaver ! A bit tricky to setup but hey it gets the job done.
The company I work for does not want t support mac ppl, and does not intend to upgrade exchange just yet
so untill now I could only check my work mail via webmail .......
On a side note for the man upstairs, It does sound funny that on the iphone you practically
set-up all of this in 30 sec max whilst to get it done on the mac it took me 2 years + DavMail.
P.S. it needs to be done on Lion too

From my MBP with 10.6.2 I can connect using OWA both to a hosted service running Exchange 2007 and an internal service running Exchange 2003.
It sounds as if there is a problem with the network configuration. Is there any firewall between your client system and your company server? Are you using the same IP information (DNS, GW, etc) on the client as on the other systems which work for you?

  • Exchange 2003 push notifications not working on iPhone4 running iOS 5

My Exchange 2003 push notifications are not working on my iPhone4 (iOS5).  For this account I need to fetch.  I know that at one point I was receiving push notifications from the Exchange 2003 account prior to upgrading to iOS 5 but unfortunately I did not actively monitor push notifications for this accout prior to upgrading to iOS 5.  Push notifications work fine for other email accounts on this phone including an Exchange 2007 account.  Are there any issues specific to iOS 5 and Exchange 2003 with regard to push notifications?

This is an issue that a lot of people are having...   it's all on this thread.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4345374?start=0&tstart=0
The 'fix' that is decribed in the first post does not work.  The only workaround is if you are on Wi-Fi, turn off Cellular Data and then reset the push service by turning on Airplane mode for a few seconds and then turn it back off.  Seems to be an issue with the iOS talking to the new LTE CDMA chip on Verizon and Sprint iPhone 5s.

It will sync from Outlook to the phone, but not from the phone to Outlook.  This was working last week with the last version of iTunes and ios 8.1.1

    Hello MEOS001,
If you are not seeing any changes being made over to your iPhone and vice versa to your computer, take a look a the article below. It will walk you through resetting the SyncServices Folder as well the Sync history. It may also be an issue with any plug ins that Outlook may have installed that may be preventing the sync.
