IOS 4 Update on 3gS - lost everything i paid for

Please apple, all im asking for is the music that i paid for and downloaded off of itunes, nothing more.
Can anyone tell me how i can get my music sent to me? My phone was sync'd with my laptop and it wiped the music off my laptop itunes page AND my phone. . . .any help would be great - thank you!!

Welcome to the forums Nismo.
Had you read the Terms of Use of the forum that you agreed to by joining, you would find that "Apple" is not here. This is a user to user technical support forum. Hosted by Apple, but not monitored by Apple nor a way to communicate with Apple.
As far as your music goes, when you purchase music from the iTunes store, it is your responsibility to back up that music. That way when something like the current situation going on with you happens, you will have backup copies of your purchased music. Apple is no more responsible for your lost music than a record store would be if you lost a purchased CD.
That being said, you can send a letter to iTunes support and try pleading your case. They might let you download your purchased music again, but I wouldn't get my hopes up too high if I were you.
Not the message I'm sure you wanted to hear, I'm afraid. But it is what it is. Backkups are so important, and unfortunately, there are many, many posts just like yours of people losing their music or other data because they failed to backup.

Updated to iOs5 lost everything! Help?

So I updated my phone to iOS5 and this is what happens. I lose everything. Cannot restore from backup, nothing. Heres the rundown :
This is the message I get when I plug it in
"iTunes was interrupted while restoring the contents of the iPhone “Gayla's iPhone”. Would you like to restore this iPhone again now?"
So I click "Continue Restore"
Then I get this "An error occurred while restoring this iPhone (-50)"
Whenever I try to restore it from the back up from earlier, it says that it is not compatible and that I cannot use it, or that it is corrupt.
So I click Restore and of course it erases everything (there is nothing on it anyway because it already erased it all)
So we go through that process then I get this :
" The iphone could not be restored. An internal error occured." ( of course it did...)
The back up is on here, because whenever I go into prefference > Devices.. I can see the back up and its what I need but I cannot get it to my phone. How do I get it on there.
I have one idea but I don't know if it's the right one,
Restore it to the older/latest version of iOS that I had (not iOS5) and then restore it from the backup, THEN try to the update again.
Is that right or is there an easier way to do this? Really appreciate your help, as I have lost everything, text message, apps, contacts, pictures. And this is stuff that cannot be replaced.

I understand that this is a board dedicated for iPhone users but I can't find any other posts that mentions this mess!!! I just updated my iPod Touch 4th Generation to iOS 5 and lost all of my music, videos, and apps, and only restored my photos.
I called Apple last week and they assured me that this update will NOT delete any of my data and FML it did!
I always sync/backup my iPod with my laptop --- I assumed that this also backs up my music library into a compressed file somewhere...so I clear out all my music on my iTunes because 1,000 songs really slows down my laptop.
Now I'm left with nothing!!!!!!
I went to the App Store through my iPod and it has all my previously purchased apps ready for me to re-install. Went to iTunes through my device, tried to reload music that I previously purchased and it notified me that I bought it before...and asked me if I want to buy it again?!?!
1) Is there anyway that I could at least get back my previously purchased music and video WITHOUT having to repurchase it?
2) Is there anyway that I could recover the rest of my library? I did do the BACKUP
---> I already attempted the RIGHT CLICK on device through iTunes and restore on latest BACKUP----it did absolutely nothing to my old files. This is sooo not worth the download....over 1,000 songs!!!!

IOS 6 update made me lose EVERYTHING!

Updated iPhone 4 to ios 6 and it told be to connect to iTunes. And then said you need to restore the phone. Error -1 or something. So I did and I lost everything! How do I get my photos back to before I restored?

Well, if you backed up your phone before you upgraded then no data should be lost.
By the way, there IS a difference between "lose" and "loose".

After IOS 6 update I have lost my purchased ringtones. They show up in iTunes but do not show up on the phone

I have tried all the suggestions and nothing works. I can see the ringtones in iTunes but I cannot delete them as suggested. I have had to buy these ringtones twice I am not buying them (or any other for that matter) again.

I'm with you. I will NEVER spend another cent buying ringtones. It is such a RIP-OFF!!! It also lessens the experience of having an iphone. I have also lost my entire Music Library after a sync. I had over 800 songs. I read online that it is somewhere out in the hemisphere, but I don't know how to get it back. Now, my new Music Library only has about 77 songs, which I also lost after the ios 6 update. However, I did figure out today how to get those few songs back. I'm becoming less and less happy about being #TeamIphone:(

IOS 4 update on 3GS: Album Artwork/author/title missing in some places

Okay, I just updated my 3GS to iOS4 with no dramas, except for the iPod app.
Basically, in Albums mode:
- any album that wasn't from the iTunes Store (i.e. a CD rip) doesn't display its album artwork thumbnail, either in the list view or the new album summary info panel shown above the track listing when you click the album
- in addition, the new album summary panel shows “Unknown Artist” and “Unknown Album” even though the page before (the full Albums list) did in fact show the artist and album title
- however, clicking on a track will in fact show the correct album artwork while the track is playing
In addition, in Cover Flow mode:
- not only do the above affected albums also appear with no artwork,
- but also clicking on them shows *no tracks* at all (whereas they do show up in Albums mode and are successfully playable).
What the?! Anyone else found this? Seems to affect both MP3 and AAC ripped formats (and btw they are legal imports of my own CDs).

I have a similar problem. All of my music won't show the album artwork, and some will even show artwork of a Genius Mix. I rotate to Cover Flow, and everything seems fine there; all of the artwork shows up and the songs are all there. But once I flip to portrait and the Now Playing screen, that artwork disappears and I'm left with that prosaic gray musical note or an ugly Genius Mix artwork with four of my original artworks arranged in a 2-by-2 grid. I set iTunes so that it wouldn't sync my music anymore, synced my iPod, turned music back on, and then synced my iPod again, essentially removing music and putting it back on my device, as the abovementioned suggests.

My wifi wont work anymore with the ios 7 update I have tried everything please help!!!

I updated to the ios7 it worked great for about a day and now my wifi will not turn back on! I have tried everything please help I do work from my phone and I need it to function properly ! I cant update for the newest ios7 because I dont have wifi!

As Apple has posted on their website since early June, only the 5th gen ipod touch can handle ios 7.

IOS 6 update on 3GS. Now missing hotspot, how do I get it back?

I completed my iOS 6 update last night on my 3GS phone. Went to use my personal hotspot this morning and it's not there.......
I live in the country tethering is how I access the Internet. Can someone please help me find a fix?

Found the answer through an old string on the 5.1 update. It's under system-->general-->cellular scroll shown and turn the hotspot back on and it reappears under the first screen in system settings.

HT1338 I updated my mac & lost everything, what can I do?

I left my laptop to complete the most recent upgrade, I came home to find I'd lost everything! Is there any way of getting my documents/photos etc back? HELP!

Restore from a backup.
Rule of thumb. Better to keep in on your Mac when upgrading. You may miss important error messages.

I recently got the Iphone 4s and when I went to transfer my apps from my 3Gs I lost all my apps, pictures, and music. When it told me I needed to update my iTunes to 5 something. Please help out of 143 apps I only found 4. Any Help is greatly Appreciated.

Sleep button quit working after iOS 5 update on 3gs

i updated my iphone 3Gs with ios 5 and now the sllep button no longer works

Have you tried a Restart or a Reset..
Restarting your device
1) Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.

While updateing iphone 3gs, lost internet connection. now only option is to restore in itunes. I just want to finish update!

I was updating my iphone 3gs. I lost internet connection when my went to restart (I forgot I was using hotspot). Now when I connect my phone to finish, the only option it gives me is to restore. I don't want to do this. I have disconnected and restarted phone and macbook pro. Software is up to date. What can I do?

Once restored you can restore from a backup or sign into icloud in order to recover any contacts, etc that you had on the phone previously. If you are still missing contacts, which is usually one of the most important things on a phone than make sure you have added any and all email accounts you previously had on the phone.

After the Ios 6 update, I have lost my Sound for Music, Tweets. i have restored the phone, tried adjusting the settings, and even have Docked and undocked the Iphone 4S, thinking it might be in Dock mode. Headphones work, Dock plays Sounds. Ideas?

Sound will be heard when Docked or through Headphones. Even Volume Bar doesn't appear either when playing music without Headphones or being docked.
Similar to others, this phone worked 100% prior to the Upgrade to Ios 6.0.1

Do you have the mute switch engaged? It's the little slider over the volume buttons on the side. If you can see orange, it's engaged. Slide it the other way.

Updated Ipad now lost everything in Icloud!!

A friend has updated his Ipad to the latest version & in doing so has lost all data on the ipad.
He went to restore the data from a backup in the icloud but apparently they have all gone along with all the photos he had too.
Is there a way to restore the data that was in icloud as he didn't delete it himself?

I understood that you have created a new iCloud account, right? In this case delete your new iCloud from your device (Settings > iCloud) and then sign in with your old account.

I've been told you can have a black keyboard for the iOS 7 update. How do I get it for the 5c?

This keyboard was only available in one of the beta versions of iOS7.1.
Apple decided to not have a darker / black keyboard option included in the final version of iOS7.1

Why won't my iPad update to 7.1 after I paid for more storage as prompted

I have an iPhone 5 and an iPad. I just paid $20 TWICE to gain more icloud storage to allow the 7.1 update on my iPad. Neither purchase worked and I'm out $40!?
