IOS 5.0.1 will not download
I keep trying to download and update my iphone 4 through iTunes to incorporate the iOS 5.0.1. Every time I do try to do this an error comes up stating that I need to check the network because the network failed. I tried to find a link for the iOS 5.0.1 update outside of iTunes, but have been unable to do so. I am using a windows operating system. Can someone please point me in the direction of fixing this problem?
The problem is in the security software. Not iTunes or the phone. Security software, especially antivirus software is a double Edged sword.
About 7 years ago, I worked a a company that processed data that was dumped on a daily basis from a mainframe. All of the files were named using a combination of date, time, account number, etc.
Every once in a while, all you had to do was hilight a file in Windows explorer. Not even open it, just hilight the file name, and the entire machine would have a seizure, then re-boot. We had to disable McAfee until we either got updated antivirus signatures that didn't react like that or until we were done dealing with that particular file. Of course, we had to cut that user off from internet access entirely so they didn't get infected.

I'm having the same problems. Can't even find out if Apple is working on it. Tried to downgrade but is not supported by apple so error 3194 comes up which is verifying with the apple web site. Which then stops everything. I understand you can modify the "hosts" file to by pass the issue, but hate doing that as it gets involved. May try it if I can't get any satisfaction from apple.

Why won't ios 3.1.1 download for the 1st generation ipod touch? It will start and then a second later stop.
Does it happen with the apps that came with the iPod?
Does it happen with all apps you have downloaded/installed?
Have you ried deleting the apps and redownload/install the apps? You will not be charged again if you are signed into the same iTunes account that originally purchased the apps.
Next would be to restore from backup

Mail on my iPad 2, iOS 8.3 suddenly will not download my inbox. I have two other accounts on the same provider (AT&T - Yahoo) with the same settings that work fine. The account will send mail OK. Sometimes it will return an error message "cannot connect to server" after a long time of the spinning wheel. It was doing this just prior to updating iOS 8.3 and still the same after updating.
If I delete the account and re-add it, will I lose all my mail folders, the emails saved in them, contacts, calendar, etc.?
Will a restore recover them at that point?
Any ideas or suggestions?If you delete the account off the iPad you won't delete the info permanently, although you will delete it off your device. If you delete it off your iPad the data will come back when you re-add it.

Are all your accounts yahoo? If so you may want to read the above posts. There have been issues with yahoo for quite some time now. People have said these fixes work, however I haven't tried any of them since mine is still working. -

I find the Air easier to work with if I need a keyboard if, for no other reason, that's more compact to carry around than the iPad and a keyboard, even one that is part of an iPad case. I also often have to access data from one application when using another, and iOS is not at its best when having to do rapid application switching (Command-Tab switching is a lot faster than the double press home, scroll the icons at the bottom and swap).
As well, for editing I find the lack of sandboxing on OSX allows for efficiency enhancing utilities across applications, something you don't get in iOS. I understand the reason for that, but while more secure it also creates issues of its own in terms of usability in a number of situations.
I prefer the iPad for totally single application focused situations where little or no input is required. I use my iPad to hold copies of manuals when I'm doing a full day continuing education presentation for CPAs. A MacBook Aire can't really fill in very easily for that usage.
I see them each as tools appropriate for different jobs. -

My wife's phone had similar symptoms, at least with the text notification alert not working. I have narrowed it down to happening after we use the new navigation feature in the Maps. When we power the phone off and back on, the alert sound seems to return. I haven't tried just "killing" the Maps app after we use it...perhaps that would work as well.

I checked the list of installed apps like you suggested (Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Show all apps) but this problem app is not in the list. I have also swiped down on the home screen to search for it, but again it does not show.
While it has not let me download the app (and I just tried it again) it has helped me to eliminate a few things from the list of what to try, and I can definitely conclude that it has not downloaded.
I guess I need to fire up my PC and download it / sync my iPad.

After many attempts to download through iTunes, I tried the direct method via Wi-Fi and it worked! First, reset the iPhone (hold the power and Home buttoms until the screen goes black, then keep holding until the Apple logo appears). Second, dismiss all other applications (hit Home twice, then press and hold any icon at the bottom of the screen until they blink and display red "-" signs; then hold each "-" sign until the app icon vanishes). Then go to Settings -> General -> Software Update. It took me about 5-6 minutes via Wi-Fi.
For what it's worth, I'm using an iPhone 3GS and had 5.1 installed prior to the 5.1.1 update. My iTunes is on a Mac G4 running OS 10.5.8. I don't know why the iTunes method didn't work, but even if it had worked, it would have taken half an hour or more to download the file. -
Ever since I downloaded the new iOS 7 my screen will not turn up and down and it rotates on its own side to side.it will not face the way I want it to go. How do I fix it?
I've been working on this all day!!! I've tried everything I know of and can't get it to load either. Sounds like lots of people are having problems. Here is what I have so far...I have uninstalled EVERYTHING on my pc from apple and reinstalled itunes to no avail. I have tried all sorts of things I've read as fixes online. NOTHING has worked. Here is something interesting that i have noticed though. my main pc (which is the one i have always managed my itunes account with for years) is a 32 bit system running windows 7. Yesterday I installed itunes for the first time on my new netbook which is a 64 bit (windows 7) system and it works just fine. i have three other laptops (all window 7) in my household that are all 64 bit operating systems and ALL have updated to 10.5 and THEY ALL work fine. this is FOUR 64 bit systems ALL updated w/10.5 that work and ONE that is a 32 bit that will not. Can't get any help from apple. their suppot *****! I want to get someone on the **** phone or a live chat but cant. *** APPLE????? please let mw know if you find SOMETHING i can try next. I'm out of ideas and patience!

I tried to download the latest upgrade to iOS8 on my iPad. Message said that I did not have enough space. I bought 20 G more storage and it still will not download. How do I download iOS8. I am now running iOS 7.1.2.
You delete content from the iPad and/or update it from iTunes on a computer.
iCloud space is separate from that on the device.

My iphone 4s ios 7/0/4 will not update music or apps from itunes 11.1.3. this was true with my pc since ios 7.0.3 even with update 7.0.4 and now continues with my new MacPro also runing itunes 11.1.3. as most state in previous threads, syncs all non itunes related data with no issue and appears to work correctly on itunes data but then hangs on the last step of updating until it times out. i have tried marking specific music to transfer, setting up new playlist, deleting some old playlist on phone but stopped short of restoring my phone back to new due to the amount of non itunes data that i will lose. The itunes setup on the macpro was completely with the download of all music from a previous external backup and the creation of new playlist - on the first sync with existing phone it did ask to overwrite all phone itunes data with macpro itunes data which i did accept - no different result - no changes on phone.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If the problem continues, take the device to Apple for evaluation and possible replacement.
