IOS 5.0 to iOS 5.0.1 on a new iphone that doesn't recognise firmware?
Today I became the proud owner of a new iPhone 4S 64GB.
I registered the phone as I bought direct form apple and needed to update the iOS from 5.0 to 5.0.1.
I have spent 12 hours downloading to update for itunes to cut it off once complete and state that the firmware is not recognised. Grrrr
I tried to update the sofware via the phone option and it says the internet is not available and yet it IS available.
Someopne please help me force the darn thing to update
You may have a problem with your iTunes connecting to the internet.
Try this,
Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.

Setup your new phone, then update to iOS 8.1.3. Once done: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings". At the setup screen you'll now be able to select your old phone's backup.

How do I get around restoring iCloud on a new iPhone with an older iOS than my previous iPhone?
My current iPhone 4 has iOS 7.1.2, and my new iPhone 5 I'm trying to set up iCloud for only has 6.1.4. So it won't accept any of my iCloud backups on thr iPhone 4. Is there any way to get around this? Do I need to just set it up as a new phone and then can maybe upgrade and transfer, or am I outta luck?
Thanks!Note that, after you run the update, you'll need to go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings in order to go through the initial setup again, where it offers you the option of restoring from a backup.

Hi, I'm from Brazil and we don't have any Apple Stores here yet, just Premium Resellers and the Carrier Stores.
So, in Apple's reseller in my town, there still are some iPhone 5 boxes lying between the iPhone 4S, 5c and 5s's boxes, as well some old iPhone 4 ones. Leaving aside the comments like "wow, iPhone 4 and 5 souldn't be found anymore" (I know that), do you think if I get one, it will still come with iOS 6?
I think so, becuase officially there aren't iPhone 5 in sale anymore, so it wouldn't make sense for Apple to ship them with iOS 7, because they stopped manufactoring the 5 before the iOS 7 and the new iPhones that ship with it, as well as the 4S 8GB, were introduced.
I'm asking this because I got a 5s and I'm deeply disapponted with iOS 7, and for me it ruins all the great features that only the 5s has to offer, and I'm willing to go back to the last iPhone that could run iOS 6.
PS: the Home Screen printed in the iPhone 5 box is from iOS 6, and we know Apple updated the printing on the 4s to iOS 7.

If the store you're dealing with offer this you could buy the phone and go through the setup process. You'll soon learn what version of the iOS is installed.
Given that, i would add that it is not wise to continue running iOS 6 when there are no own security flaws. iOS 7 solves those problems and adds the activation lock to prevent thieves from activating your phone should it be stolen or you lose it somehow. -
I connected my ipad to update the ios so I could sync my new iphone. I got a message my ipad needed to be restored back to the factory setting and then I got a message saying it could NOT be restored. Any suggestions?

Is there a way to get a version of the Garage Band app that runs on version 5.1.1? I have an iPad 1 and can't get any higher iOS. The App store is telling me that Garage Band only runs on iOS 7.

I went in again, chosing restore, itunes is currently downloading again! this time it says 44 minutes remaining. If my computer goes into hibernation, I have to restart and then download says 4 to 35 hours?? Trying to recover the ios6 is frustrating. I didn't chose the correct set up as new phone, because I wanted to set up my apps, etc. My new iphone is the 4GS, and it came already set up with the ios 6. Just trying to get it back! Also, can not get my wifi to set up. Thought it would recognize the settings and all I would need to do is put in my ID and password? My download is now saying 66 minutes?
If you want to go to the first set-up screen of iPhone, like after a restore, then on iPhone tap Settings App > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. If you want to have your iPhone basically Restore itself, then tap Settings App > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.

I get a message that 'there are purchased items on my iPhone that have not been transferred to my iTunes library. Yet, I can't find those items! Help! One User's Story: iOS 7.1 and Battery Life on iPhone 5
I've been reading the messages from folks that have experienced shorter battery life after upgrading to iOS 7.1. It does appear that there is a real problem with some iPhone 5S models. Some of those users are reporting a shorter battery life along with warm iPhones (when the iPhones weren't doing anything) and repeatedly "coming to life" with the lockscreen slider multiple times after being put asleep.
In my case, the day after upgrading to iOS 7.1 I noticed that my iPhone 5 (not 5S) went from about 90% battery to 55% battery overnight--with no apps open. And since iOS 7, I've disabled background app updates, disabled location services for all but about 4 apps, disabled motion, etc. I also tend to never leave any apps open when I'm done for the day. Anyway, during the second night, my phone went from 40% to about 35%. I suspected that iOS 7.1 may have affected the battery calibration but perhaps not the actual life between charges.
I then turned on the phone, set it to not sleep, and let it completely use up the battery charge and to turn itself off. It took a very long time--more evidence of a calibration issue. I then completely charged the phone. Since then, it appears that not only is the battery calibration correct again, but the actual battery life might be a little longer after iOS 7.1. I'm now seeing about an 8% to 10% drop in battery charge overnight which is what I had before iOS 7.1.
I'm not saying that users who are reporting decreased battery life are wrong. I can only report my own experience.I love all the Tips out there to save Battery life, turn this off turn this down when the bottom line is you shouldnt have to turn anything off or down because those things are why you bought an Apple iPhone, how about Apple fixes there crap right the 1st time instead of ripping us off,
And another thing Apple should reveal there iPhone 6 on what the heck there going to release , whats with all this bullcrap all the time that its a big secret....

I recently upgraded to iOS 7.0.3 and now my iPhone 4S will only sync purchased music to my phone from iTunes. Help! I have TONS of music that I have bought and burned to my computer, but cannot listen to it on my iPhone. This seems ridiculous!
Also, it's taking FOREVER (over an hour) to sync my iPhone to iTunes...

I bought a new iPhone 4 with iOS 6.1.3 installed. When I connected it to itunes for the first time to activate it iTunes asked me to enter the password for an account that the iPhone is locked to like if the device was used before what shall I do? PLease reply soonI can't do that because the device was purchased from United Arab Emirates and I got it as a gift in Syria but the problem is that there is not even a single apple store in Syria so is there another way to fix that, I googled it and was told to jailbreak the device whitch I did and than hacktivated it but the problem is the device doesn't connect to any network and only shows "no service" and the battery draining too fast so is there any other way to fix this issue
