IOS 5.0 Update Date keeps moving out on iPhone 3G

I have an iPhone 3G and when I go to try and Sync it up and attempt to get the new iOS 5.0 Operating System Software, the Update Date keeps moving out. When I first tried a couple of weeks ago, it said an Update would be available 10/20. 10/20 came and went and then it said 10/22. 10/22 came and went and then it said 10/30. 10/30 has come and gone and now it says 11/02.
Why oh why is the Update Date keep moving out? The rest of my family has updated just fine and I am excited for the new notifications that I have seen on their iPhones.
Can anyoine help me out here???

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the iPhone 3G does not support iOS 5. The iPhone 3GS is the oldest model that supports the iOS 5 operating system. The date keeps moving because you make it check for an update which there are none and the system keeps telling you it will check again in a few days. This is the normal operation of iTunes in terms of trying to keep your products up to date.

I'm not sure about that. But what you could try is to set the Update Preference to "Manual" and try updating at a time when the Network may not be as busy, like late at night or early in the morning.

My Transferring of data keeps timing out

Availablity date keeps moving - why?

I'm not happy with my current broad band supplier and I've been considering a move for a while.
I have been considering BT but unless I can get a faster speed I don't really think the move is worth it. Our exchange has been updated (Consett) but the cabinet hasn't (DH8 0DH). I've been keeping tabs on infinity availability for the past year but every time we get with a few days of the availability date it changes and the date is pushed back 3 months.
This has been going on for over a year and I'm just waiting for it to happen again (current date is forecast for 31/12/2012). I can understand the date being moved by a few weeks due to unforseen circumstances but by 3 months each time and for over a year?
Surely you can come up with a more accurate estimate?
Any idea if the end of december estimate will stick this time? If so why is it getting pushed back by 3 months each time?

Firstly, welcome to the forum!
I'm sorry to tell you that your story of moving dates, just before the end of the quarter, seems all too common!
But this is not the fault of BT Retail, but BT OpenReach, whic h operates as an entirely separate company. Open Reach was set up to provide the infrastructure to all ISPs (apart from Virgin, who have their own cable network).
Because OR is a virtual monopoly, they can do (and seem to do) exactly as they like.
So, there is very little you can do to speed things along, unless you want to contact your MP to try to raise the profile of your case.

Software won't update, just keeps timing out

I have been trying to do the update, I think it updates Itunes and Imovie, but not matter what I do it just times out and gives some error message. Have tried over WiFi and using an ethernet cable, but no luck so far. anyone have any ideas or fixes

Application keeps moving out of the window to a phantom screen?

I can start the application and it works fine. However it won't stay on my home screen and I have checked the other spaces and it won't stay there either. It keeps drifting off to the top and off the screen. Any ideas?

I know it can be frustrating when the cursor is jumpy or erratic. In this situation I would recommend reading over the attached article for steps and recommendations to resolve the issue.

I have no idea what to do. Every time I try to connect, within seconds it disconnects... Because of this, I cant update my apps because they are over 50MB. So most of my apps are frozen...

I also have this problem. One additional symptom is that though I can log on momentarily, almost immediately it disconnects me from WiFi, then brings up a "Log In" page with Apple's version of a 404 error. The URL that it appears to be trying to connect to is www.apple.com. Have tried powering down my phone, cycling my modem and router, re-entering my AppleID, forgetting the network and rejoining. Nada. Home network using Airport. This didn't happen while at work where we don't use Airport.
This only happens with my iPhone 4S. My iPad 2 works just fine.

Scroll bar keeps moving out of sight

I open fire fox and then when I open one of my accounts the scroll bars moves out of sight on the screen and I can't scroll down The Even when I use the zoom bar. The fire fox screen is large than my monitor and I have a large monitor. When I try to go into Face Book there is no way to scroll down the page to see when is farther down the page.

It is possible that the screen is too wide or too high and that the scroll bars fall off.
* Use Restore or Maximize in the right-click context menu of the Taskbar icon to set focus to the Firefox application if you do not see the Firefox window.
* Open the system menu of that Firefox window via Alt+Space and see if you can move and resize that window.
If that works then close Firefox (File > Exit/Quit) to save that setting.

Ios 7.1 update two weeks ago ruined my iphone 5. The ringer will reset to vibrate all by its self. A soft reset resolves the issue for only 5 min then back to vibrate. System restore and restore to factory settings has the same effect.

I have had no problems with my iphone 5 until the very next day after I updated to ios 7.1. My phone is 26 days out of warranty, sorry says Apple, we have one for $269 though. Clearly this is an issue with the update that has broken my perfectly good phone and now I am stuck with this thing of a phone....

How to back up saved application data when moving to new iPhone?

So I've done a fairly extensive search on google trying to figure out how to backup not just my apps, but the saved data within them as well. Most of the stuff I'm finding requires jailbreaking or many steps. I'm coming here to post to see if there is an 'easy' way to do this by now..
I mean you back up your old iPhone through iTunes but from what I'm hearing that does not save the application data? I don't understand how this was not put in, especially considering how the iPhone is made to look like such a great portable gaming device, in which many save your progress along the way..
For example, I have peggle on my iPhone 3G and have been playing it a little bit here and there for a little more than a year and have 100% completed on most levels. I don't want to lose all that, you know?
So anyways, is there any simple way to do this yet? If not, what's the simplest way to go about doing this?

So all I need to do is back up my 3G iPhone in iTunes, and then just restore from backup with the iPhone 4 and all my saved data and stuff will remain? Cool!

IOS 4.3 Update Hanging at roughly 30% on iPhone 4 GSM

So I have the iPhone 4 GSM and just downloaded the 4.3 update, but when I started the install it hung at 30% and just sat there. I let it sit for ages and it didn't ever update so I pulled the plug. Now trying to do a restore, it's still trying to install 4.3 and hanging at 30% (apple logo and 30% progress bar on the iPhone screen, had it sitting for about 40 minutes with no change now).
Any ideas?
Should I download a fresh copy of the OS, and if so how?

Are you running any firewalls, anti-virus or user-interface modification tools?
If you disable all any and all you may be successful!

Ios 5.0 update caused errors in all my ibooks

I updated my Ipad to the 5.0 and now all of my books purchased on ibook are missng half the pages and errors on a lot of the remaining pages. tried deleting and downloading again but no change. Anyone else having this prob?

Bookmarks not syncing on iPad after iOS 4.3 update

I have the following problem since the iOS 4.3 update on 2 iPads and 1 iPhone 3GS. (no problem on iPhones 4)
If I attach device to iTunes and start syncing, everything seems synced except the bookmarks. I get either messages:
'iTunes could not sync bookmarks to the iPad "name" because an error occured while merging data.'
'iTunes could not sync bookmarks to the iPad "name" because the bookmarks are in use bu the iPhone.'
If I do a second sync - without stopping iTunes - the bookmarks are synced.
Any idea how to solve this ?

I have the same problem, but it was after buying a new Mac and setting up syncs. The bookmarks from the iPad disappeared and were not syncing through MobileMe, although it is working on my iPhone 4, so I turned of the MM sync and tried iTunes. After trying just about everything suggested in this thread (hard boot, clearing caches etc, shutting off all multi-tasking, getting rid of the Mozilla app, and so on) when I sync with iTunes I still get the message: "iTunes could not sync bookmarks to the iPad xxxx because the bookmarks are in use by the iPad."
How does one shut down whatever is using the bookmarks?

Dears at Apple:
I can't find how to apply sound enhancements (EQ) for the podcasts now with iOS 6.0 update on any of my devices(iPhone 4s, iPhone Touch (4th Gen), iPad (3rd Gen). Most of the "Podcasts" I listen to are music content based and wanted to apply sound enhancements(EQ) like before when integrated with ipod function. Can you consider to "fix" this issue?

OK Emanuel I found a solution! I dowloaded and installed "Denon Audio" app from the iTunes store & it works great! It has an EQ you can set curves on manually or use the (few) built in pre-sets. It is a player like the Music app that comes with the iPhone, etc. but restores the EQ functionality so we can adjust the audio of PODCASTS:-) Until Apple fixes this what I consider a bug I will be using the Denon app as my default music player!
