IOS 5.1.1 - 3G defaults to 'on'

Has anybody else noticed 3G defaulting to 'on' in iOS 5.1.1? -- I don't remember it happening before.
While investigating rapid battery loss I tried turning off 3G -- Settings > General > Network > Enable 3G  (3G is not available where I live).  I noticed subsequently that restarting the phone (iPhone 4S) turns it on again.  Unhelpful behaviour!

Reset iPad and the problem cleared up for now.

  • IOS-XR: EIGRP passive-interface default?

It appears there's no ability to make all interfaces passive by default in XR as there is in IOS.
Is there a reason for this or is it just that it has not been included yet?
Workaround is to configure all unnecessary interfaces as passive but I prefer to have all passive and then only enabled where needed.
    TIA,

    Hi Gary,
I filed request CSCug38048 for this. It may take a day or so for it to show up in teh bug toolkit, but then you have something for tracking. I dont have a definitive release for this either, but I am trying to see if we can do this short(er) term.
As for the other question on the use of passive sparingly. I don't necessarily agree with that statement. Passive is very useful to include prefixes in the advertisement, but to prevent forming adj. Loopbacks are to be made passive, because it is a waste of cpy cycles trying to generate a hello on that stub interface and then drop it in software. Passive is the proper solution. Same thing with access facing interfaces that dont need adj to the CE's, but have to be included in the routing.
The alternative of using redistribute connected is indeed an option, but the disadvantage for that is that it creates EXTERNAL routes, in both OSPF and EIGRP, with different metric calculations.
The magnitude of "many" in this regard is dependent on the number of times you don't mind configuring "passive-interface" under the eigrp enabled interface configuration. For me personally that would be about 20
What I mean to say is, it is not dependent on a scaling limitation or anything other then operator/user.
    cheers!

  • IOS 4- All default wallpapers are gone.

*iPod Touch 3rd Gen (Late 2009) 32 GB*
Upgraded to iOS 4 and all the default wallpapers are gone... nothing is there at all.
Yes, I can set both the Home & Lock screen wallpapers with something from my iPoto collection. It's the "wallpaper" section that's now blank!
    Settings -> Wallpaper -> Wallpaper -> Wallpaper -> EMPTY!!
Since you can never delete or add to this collection, how can this happen? I heard iOS 4 would add a few new ones but not delete all of them.
Restoring does not make a difference. Restoring to Factory Default settings does not work either.

Had the same problem but solved it. I had originally downloaded and installed the iOS4 GM version and everything worked except all the default wallpapers were gone. Tried updating today directly through iTunes and of course it says I'm already "up to date". What worked for me is the follow. Follow the steps and hopefully it works for you too.
    1. Go to the web page below and find your version and download the file and save it to your computer were you know the location.
    http://gizmodo.com/5568558/download-iphone-ios4-now
    2. After downloading sync your device with iTunes 9.2. Once synced go to the summary screen where you have the "check for update" button.
    3. On a MAC hold down ALT/Windows hold down SHIFT; and click the check for update button. At this point it will prompt you to select a file from your computer. Go to the iOS4 update file you downloaded and select it. follow the prompts.
    4. Now just sit back and let it do it's thing. It will basically re-install iOS4. When all is said and done the wallpapers should be there.
It worked for me, hope it works for you. =O)

  • IOS 6 Mail default reply address - random

Ever since switching to iOS 6 my mail reply does not list the proper address as the default.
I use IMAP with Gmail.  I have multiple addresses entered in the Email field in the preferences.  In previous iOS versions, it obeyed the default I have set in Gmail.  Now with iOS 6, it picks a random address as the default.  Very annoying.  It's different on my iPad and my iPhone even though the same addresses are listed and of course, in Gmail I have an address set to default.  If I click to change which address I want to use, the list comes up fine.  It's just that Apple Mail does NOT respect the default setting.  Strange.
No other iOS had this problem.  It's only iOS 6. It's also ONLY Apple Mail.  Sparrow obeys Gmail defaults just fine.
Can we expect a fix for this soon?

Thank you mr.ipa.  I appreciate the tip.
That is not however the issue I am having.  I have entered in my email preferences a number of addresses I use when creating or replying to an email.  They are separated with commas.  This is exactly how email works on Mac OS X.  When I compose an email, the app chooses a default.   What used to happen is that iOS Mail respected the default account set in my Gmail web account.  All of iOS since about 3.0 did this perfectly.
Now with iOS 6 it does not.  It chooses an address at random.  It's not alphabetical, it's not anything.  I can change the order of the way they are typed in my list, yet iOS still picks a random address.  It is different on my iPhone and on my iPad yet they have the same info in the list in the same order.
It was a dark day for iOS and Mac OS X when Google bought Sparrow.  With Sparrow you can designate which address you would like to use as your default and change it in the fly when composing.  In Apple iOS Mail, you can change it on the fly, but it will NOT let you select a default address to use.
    Very frustrating.
Apple seems intent on NOT allowing defaults for many of their apps.  I think this is a big mistake.  I should be allowed to select a default email address, a default app for opening images, a default for listening to music and most of all - a default web browser!!!  Didn't MS get slammed in Europe over that very thing??
Anyway, I am still looking for Apple to supply a fix that allows you to set your prefered email address in Apple iOS Mail.

After ios 8 update I can no longer play music through my car. I have a 2012 Nissan Rogue - which has its own cable made to use with iPhone 4 - I use a apple adapter to converst to use with 5. Has been working fine up until update. Is there a fix for this? The car does not have usb

Here I come to save the daaaaaaaaaay!!!
Had the same issue with my Nissan Rogue 2011.
This listed below will fix it...
Go to General > Restrictions > CarPlay -- Make sure Carplay is DISABLED. (The new IOS 8 enables this on default)
Go to General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
The Nissan Rogue radio system was never designed to work with CarPlay. By default, CarPlay feature comes enabled when you install IOS 8. Suckz, right?
You're very welcome! Have a great day!
    Sincerely,

  • I have read the help info, but I can't find how to change the default email address, to the one that is my adobe I'd?

I have read the help info, but I can't find how to change the default email address, to the one that is my adobe I'd?

Adobe Reader for iOS doesn't set the default email address when you email a PDF.
It's found in the Settings app:
Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Mail > Default Account

  • IPhone and iPad iOS 5.1: Gmail IMAP attachments not downloading

I'm having an issue with Gmail (IMAP) not downloading attachments from myself! (I use Gmail to archive documents, etc). Same issue on my iPhone 4 and iPad 3, both iOS 5.1, using the default mail app with default "Gmail" account (IMAP) set up.
They *were* both working fine, then I erased both devices for a clean install. Set up the email accounts again, now none of my own attachments download on either device.
When I say not downloading, I see the attachment download box (dashed box with download arrow inside), and on pressing it, the attachment downloads (0 to XX kb), but then the download box just flashes back to showing the file size, and the attachments do not show. I keep pressing the download box but it flashes and nothing happens. Same with .jpg .png .doc .xls .pdf, etc.
    BEFORE THE FORMAT:
All attachments downloaded correctly (as far as I can remember) before I had erased both devices.
    NOW:
Attachments sent *from* me ([email protected]), via Gmail website, to me or anyone else, BEFORE formatting my iPad 3 and iPhone 4, do NOT download. However, if I then forward the email, including attachments, the attachments appear in the outgoing message preview! (so they're not corrupt)
Attachments sent *from* me ([email protected]), via Gmail website, to me or anyone else, AFTER formatting my iPad 3 and iPhone 4, DO download and correctly appear in the email.
Attachments sent *from* me ([email protected]), via iPhone/iPad, to me or anyone else, any time BEFORE or AFTER formatting my iPad 3 and iPhone 4, appear correctly.
Attachments sent from anyone else, *to* me ([email protected]), always appear correctly.
On a friend's iPhone 3G (iOS 4.2.1), adding my gmail account using the default "Gmail" setting (IMAP) works fine - all attachments download and show!
On a friend's iPhone 4 (iOS 5.1), adding my gmail account using the default "Gmail" setting (IMAP) replicates my problem - all attachments from me (sent before the format) do not download. (So it's not specific to my own devices!)
Gmail Exchange server (m.google.com) works fine: all attachements download and show correctly. Also no problem using Thunderbird IMAP or the Gmail web interface.
So it looks like it might be a problem with iOS 5.1, however it all seemed to be working fine before I did the erase/format... and new emails sent from me always appear correctly... actually that might explain why it was working before (as I was always downloading new emails, and not looking at archives).
So the only other thing that might have changed is some IMAP server setting? Could the headers or mail flags have changed somehow for older emails??
    Any thoughts? :-/

I reproduced this problem over the weekend, on friends' iPhones (all running iOS 5.1). Opening their Gmail sent folder and trying to view an attachment sent from a while back (basically one that hasn't already been cached by the Mail app) failed to display. Exactly the same problem - download arrow flashes and attachement won't show / can't be opened.
I'm in the UK, but not sure if that affects anything.
Thinking this might be a bug in the Mail app in iOS 5.1, as earlier versions work fine.

  • Apple IOS stuck at evaluating connection

I have VDI lab on Hyper-V and connections to VDI desktops works fine on Windows and Android - clients, but not on Apple IOS (8.1.2). Apple tablet hangs on "evaluating connection type/bandwidth" and after a while returns claiming to check connection
or VDI instance. Same user name and VDI works fine on other client platforms. In IOS I installed MS´s official RDS client.
Did anyone tried this? My hyper-v&RDS platform is on 2012 R2.

    Hi,
Are you trying to remote connect the server with IP address or Hostname? Please try with IP address and check the result. Also for connection through IOS you can try using default URI scheme and check whether it can resolve your case.

  • IOS only extension

I am developing an app that is targetted for iOS and Android. On iOS I need to make use of an exension that is only supported on iOS. If I include the exension in my Flash Builder project, I can no longer deploy to the simulator. I receive an error like "The content cannot be loaded because there was a problem loading an extension: Error: Requested extension XXX is not supported for MacOS-x86." Do I need to create a stub extension for MacOS-x86 or is there a simpler way?

Going by the error you have mentioned. You are trying on AIR Simulator. (I think with the current release you can deploy your AIR iOS Apps on iOS Simulator as well. You get iOS Simulator in Xcode too set.) So provided you can deploy your app on AIR Mobile Simulator (Target MacOS-x86) and iPhone Simulator (iPhone-x86). What I would recommend is that you create a stub extension for default platform i.e. any platform which has no specific implementation.
See this extension as an example http://code.google.com/p/in-app-purchase-air-ios/source/browse/branches/v1/AS/src/extensio n.xml (Which has specific implementations for iOS and Android but has default stub for any other platform.)
And as an example of ANE AS Implementation see http://code.google.com/p/in-app-purchase-air-ios/source/browse/branches/v1/AS/src/com/adob e/nativeExtensions/AppPurchase.as here I have used Flex Conditional compilation. Basically, when I compile with device = false. I dont make any calls to native implementation. making it a stub.
See this for help on packaging ane with multiple platforms http://help.adobe.com/en_US/air/extensions/WSf268776665d7970d-2482335412ffea65006-8000.htm l . Please post back if you have any issues.
    Hope this helps.

  • Ios 5 mail app delete behavior

I have gmail set up as an exchange account in the native mail app on a iphone 4s with the latest ios 5.
what is the default behavior of deleting email with the mail app?  is it configurable?
I ask since on my iphone 3gs (w/ ios 5) it removes the mail from the inbox and leaves it in all mail.  But for my wife's 4s it is seemingly moving it to the trash.
    thanks,
    -g

ok im back and i have figured out the problem and solution.
as im so used to high lighting the emails individually, i've been doing the same in trash and this causes a number to slowly build next to an empty trash folder. if i select delete all then all hte emails and the number disappear. problem solved.
    yay

  • Change Default VLAN on SRW2008P

I have an SRW2008P switch I am trying to connect to my Layer3 network, which is all CIsco 3560 IOS.  i think the default vlan for cisco is 100 but the default vlan for linksys is 1.  I have port 8 on the SRW2008P connected to my cisco network and have it set as trunk on both sides.  I have the vlan 100 set as untagged on the SRW2008P.  Also, I have my user/mgt vlan 19 set as a tagged interface on the SRW2008P.  Now, when I set the Management VLAN on the SRW2008P to 19, I am not able to communicate with the switch at all from my 3560, no ping, http, etc.   My only idea is that the default vlan on the SRW2008P needs to be 100, not 1, is there a way to change that?  Am I missing some other step?

As per Linksys documentation, the default or native VLAN cannot be changed.
I would prefer setting up one of the ports on the SRW2008P as TRUNK. Create VLAN 100, member ports to VLAN100 including the TRUNK port and check if that would work.
    Hope this helps!
