IOS 5.1.1 messaging app broken after long message.

So I sent my dad a long message of just "ugh..." with about 50 "h"'s. Now his messaging app is broken, and when you try to open the app it's just a blank screen. And sometimes you can't leave the app without resetting the phone. I've already tried killin gall of his apps, and doing a reboot. He is dead set on not updating to the latest ios (he's not very tech savvy, and doesn't like change). Is there a way I can fix phone with out updating to ios 7?

if you have nothing useful to add, why bother? I'm trying to find a solution to a problem that I KNOW many, many other people are experiencing...
I don't really care much if Apple reads this, I'm just trying to find a solution. Geez.
If you genuinely were just looking for other users help to fix a problem, and weren't expecting Apple to read or respond you wouldn't have titleled this thread as you did. You wouldn't have said: "I can't imagine this hasn't been noticed by Apple, but the lack of updates and some sort of status to their customers is incredibly irritating. When will this be fixed?" It is YOU who are trolling by deliberately posting inflamatory and misleading statements.
The probolem is clearly in YOUR DEVICE. Maybe there is a a hardware issue. However, the other 99.999+% don't have the issue - and we're not bilind, oblivious idiots either.

IOS 5.1.1 Music app aborts after two characters entered in search field if Home Sharing in use.

The iOS 5.1.1 Music app search function works fine on my iPad 2 as long as the library being searched is resident on the iPad.
When Home Sharing from my iMac’s iTunes library is used, however, the Music app aborts without explanation after two characters are entered in the search field.
The behavior is always as expected after the first character is entered, but an abort always occurs after the second.
I have tried restarting iTunes on my iMac, and I have done a hard reset on my iPad, but the behavior remains the same.
This is not a minor problem from the user’s perspective, because unless the iTunes library being accessed is very small, it is very hard to find music from the information shown by the Music app on the iPad screen; it would be even worse for an iPhone or iPod touch. Without the search function working on iOS Music app, Home Sharing is of very limited use for me.
In case it is relevant, here is fuller information about the environment:
iMac 27" 2.93 GHz i7 12 GB RAM (Approx. 10 GB free or inactive at time of problem)
OS X 10.7.4
iTunes 10.6.3
iPad 2G 16 GB Wi-Fi only
iOS 5.1.1
Airport Extreme 5G v 7.6.1
Airport Express 802.11n v. 7.6.1 extending network

Spoke to a "senior advisor" in the Apple TV department. Her suggestions: change channel in router to minimize/eliminate wifi interference from other users; move router away from any metal - i.e., DVD player, phone modem, etc.; keep router away from wireless 2.4 gH phones, which are "notorious" for crashing wifi routers. So she confirms that the problem is one of connection to router suddenly dropping out.
My own feeling is that none of these fixes will do the trick, because it seems pretty clear that there is a hardware component here - the timing of the drops seems like an overheating issue. It takes 35-40 minutes for the box to warm up enough for the first drop; then each consecutive drop happens quicker than the one before, as it heats up more. Each time it drops, its tiny brain gets a little more scrambled; last night it finally wouldn't start up again at all.
My suggestion is that everyone who is experiencing this problem, please call Apple tech support and ask to speak to a senior advisor in the Apple TV department. Make them aware of this problem!

IOS should keep me in app store after purchase

Hi,
I would like to make a suggestion and to see if its possible to have it implemented by Apple. For iOS5 I would like to see as part of the App store settings in the settings app, it should have a feature where you can check "on" to keep you in app store after purchasing an item and not kick you to the homepage where the item is being installed. That way you can install multiple items while in the app store.
I see this as a feature in many ways: for instance, kicking people out of the app store requiring going back, some might get lazy and not bother. By keeping them in app store, they can just purchase another item right away. I see the point being made that new users to iOS won't understand that the app is being installed in the "background" ie (off current screen) but thats why its a setting to be toggled in the settings.app and initially off.

Twitter app broken after update (iPhone 3G/iOS 3.1.3)

I updated the Twitter app on my iPhone 3G to version 3.0.2 earlier this week. The app does not work at all. I click the app, it goes to a white screen, and then closes again. I'm on iOs 3.1.3; no problems at all with the phone since upgrading to 3.1.3. Any thoughts?

IOS application is redirecting to app store after run in iphone

My iOS application run successfully in simulator. But when i try to run it in my iphone, app is opening and after few seconds redirecting to tictoc messenger's page in app store like advertising. It was running succesfully and i didn't do any changes in my code. My code includes single web view and pushbots. In the code side nothing can redirect.

BT Cloud mac app broken after update?

The cloud app no longer works after the update (Mac) - same errors appear when newly downloaded version of app is installed. It's the app, the cloud can still be accessed thru the website.

which would (to this amateur) appear to point to a coding error in the sync/gui.pyo file, that I'd expect to be a compiled piece of Python code. In the unlikely event I can even find this file, is it OK to delete it?

It's not been fixed yet for me, but there's a promise that the tech department will get to it in a week or so. thanks to NeilO the mod for sending the info over to them.
I did try removing the app altogether (with appdelete, which removes all plists and caches, every trace of an app) and re-install. On the first run there were no error messages but the Mac now appears to the Cloud to be a different machine to the one it orginally synced with (?). Since then I've upgraded the machine's primary hard drive to a hybrid to speed things up, and have yet to decide whether to bother with the BT Cloud or just go it alone (sync backups) instead, with a local network RAID volume and judicious use of Dropbox.
I'd like to get the BT app working again, but it's always been clunky on the mac, slower and less user-friendly than dropbox or Google drive: the price you pay for using them is in your own time to setup and maintain, but at least you know what's happening.
I'm waiting for a definitive word from the BT techies (or the F-protect techies) but nothing yet. The fact that a backup app can break on upgrade, in such an impenetrable way, means I'm losing confidence in it anyway.

The .net 1.1 app, build in Borland/CodeGear's tool, shows a configuration complaint from asp.net (below). Two machines that just got this version of ODP are showing the same problem.

Yes, as long as you don't try to use any ".NET Framework 2.0 stuff" in your application this works fine.
When I say "fiddle with stuff" I had to change my system path in order to avoid .dll mismatch type errors. So when I wanted to use the beta, I would change the system path so it was first, then I would change it so the production home was first if I wanted to use that version, etc. I also have non-public beta software installed, so my machine is not "typical".
I do remember running the production 10.2 with Visual Studio for awhile before the beta came out... now I do think you need the beta to use the Oracle Developer Tools for VS2005. Most of my development efforts are ASP.NET based (I'm really a DBA by day), and since there is not much support for ASP.NET in ODT, this was not a big consideration for me.

I bought mac mini server and upgraded to mavericks but my server app doesn't upgrade, I've checked in my app store and it ask me to buy the server app again.. when i try to open my server app it tells me: You can’t open the application “Server” because it is not supported on this type of Mac. any ideas how to fix this?

IPad apps crash after installing iOS 4.2

After i installed iOS 4.2 almost any app crashes after a few minutes to the home screen and changes arent saved yet. Some apps handle it a bit longer, some crash right after a minute or so.
Any idea why or what to do?

- Resetting the iPod. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
- Download/install a new app
- Restore from backup

Any update will cause problems for a few users. And those users will rush here and post "the sky is falling" stories about their experience. The 99.99% of people who have no problems after an update won't bother to post here; indeed, most of them don't even know ASC exists. FWIW, I had no problems with iOS 7 on my 4S. Your problem is most likely not related to iOS 6, but you should probably update anyway. There can be some of that. Unfortunately, it's up to the app developers to make their app work with the iOS.
So checking for updates can help. You can also look at the reviews for the app, see if others have the same issue. If 8 has broken the app, all you can do is wait.
In some cases, a reset can help. Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. When you see the silver apple, let go and let it reboot and try again. (this can work if the app is fine with iOS8 but is just glitching...it's a harmless reboot of the system)
Another thing to try is to force quit the app(s) and force them to reboot. Double tap the home button. Flick the preview for the app up and off the screen to close it. Then single tap the home button to exit the mode. Try your app again. If it's just a glitch then this sometimes clears it up.
I know once I updated my devices I then had several updates pushed out - updates that required iOS8 so weren't available before the update.

IPhone 4 apps disappear after updating to iOS 5

Two people, one of them my sister, has reported that after updating to iOS 5 some of her apps have disappeared from the phone. I had not such thing other than iOS 5 loading all of the ones in my iTunes. Just wondering if this is happening to others too.

I too spoke to Apple in their store. They also told me it was a unique problem. They said that if it was encrypted and I didn't have the password I would have to start again "/ I have been able to get my contacts, music and apps back but the messages and pictures/videos appear to have gone forever. The advisor told me that the pictures shouldn't even be encrypted and should appear in 'iPod Photo Cache' but that folder hasn't been updated since March! I'm just relieved to have gotten my phone out of configuration mode lol!
