Well this truly *****. I was thinking about not jailbreaking now that I have an SBSettings-like shortcut, but if these are disabled, I will be jailbreaking for sure.

I talked to Apple today and was told that it's a "hardware issue" and they will not fix it. I will have to pay 169.00 to have it repaired because it is no longer covered. He told me that "the software update triggered a hardware problem" and that they haven't heard of this issue before either and this was after he went and "spoke with a senior service advisor". The thing is that if THEIR software update triggered the "hardware problem" meaning that if I hadn't updated at all my phone would be in perfect working order right now then HOW IS THAT NOT A SOFTWARE ISSUE?! I am beyond livid. I cannot continue using my phone with assistive touch, NOTHING else works and I know this isn't the first time they've heard of it because how can so many people be having this problem and Apple NOT be aware of it?! My family has bought three MacBooks, three MacBook Pros, one iPad, two iPad 2s, seven iPhone 3s, one iPhone 3GS, five iPhone 4s, two iPhone 4S, four Apple TVs, one Time Capsule and COUNTLESS versions of iPods and have never had an issue having any of them repaired and only four of those products had to be and it was a fast and hassle free...then again they all were covered still at the time of repair...
How do you restore to a previous firmware? I don't want a new phone...I want MY phone to work...the one that worked perfectly before their update....this is beyond ridiculous...I wish apple would take a look at their own support communities and see that this ISN'T our problem...it's a problem created by THEM.

it makes the whole thing very cluttered - and whilst it may look like a feature and provide an extra selling point for marketing (which is why i'm guessing it's pushed forward) - it really decreases the phone's simplicity and usability.
please do consider this. I know you can remove it, but if you reset all the phones settings, it comes back.

Disable Home Screen Lock

How do I Disable the home screen lock on my Touch 9800? In the Security settings > Password the lock icon is Enabled and can not be disabled! The only options are lock after 1, 2, 5, or 10 minutes. Is there a way to disable the lock feature?

If you are on BES, it may be forced by your BES Admins...you'd need to talk to them to see about changing it.
If you have activated Encryption/Content Protection, then the password is required to support that. You'd have to disable that in order to be allowed to also disable the password.

Home screen basic,shortcut,contact bar problem

when im using basic home screen,
-cannot accessed to " open calender" in the home screen
-keyboard icon clicked, no response in the home screen
-contact icon clicked, no response in the home screen
when im using shortcut home screen,
-i cant even view the 4 shortcuts, and i cant click either, no response, i've tick the 4 shortcuts to view on the homescreen.

- i have the latest version v21 (i have tis problem in v20 before)
- i had do a hard reset, to both memory card and phone memory.
- factory reset
- even everything in default, without installing any themes or application.
- JUST LIKE A NEW PHONE AFTER BOUGHT.

That should be a sure fire reset method (one that has worked for me).
You can also try: *#7370#
That is a deep reset that should take you back to factory settings.

SharePoint Newsfeed iOS app crashes to Home screen

Hello!
We are having some trouble getting the SharePoint Newsfeed mobile app to work on iOS devices with our on-prem SharePoint 2013 instance. When users go to sign in, they enter their username, password, and URL (the URL has been verified as correct). When they
tap the "Sign in" button, the app shows the "Loading..." screen for about a second, and then crashes to the Home screen. This is happening on all iOS devices we have tested it on, which span multiple versions of iOS 6, as well as iOS 7.
However, the SharePoint Newsfeed mobile app works fine on Windows Phone 8 devices with our SharePoint instance. Has anyone else seen this problem or have any recommendations on how to resolve it?

Could you access SharePoint MySite from iOS browser?
Please check if you input the correct personal site URL (http/https) in your iOS SharePoint Newsfeed app.
Please also try removing and re-installing the SharePoint Newsfeed app from your iOS devices, and test again.

How do I backup home screen shortcuts

I have a lot of home screen web shortcuts in IOS 7 and I want to back them up so that when I restore to a new device, I have all my collected shortcuts. How can I do this?

According to this support article, an iCloud backup should back up your Settings and your Home Screen and App organization. I do not have web shortcuts on my Home Screen so cannot absolutely guarantee that they would be restored via a backup, but the article implies that it will:

Can you make a contact appear as a shortcut on the home screen?

When I used a Droid phone, I was able to put my 9 most used contacts on one of the home screens as shortcuts. Im finding out that the iPhone 4 takes more time to get to my contacts even though there is a favorites section. I'd like to put that on the home screen instead of having to click phone>contacts>favorites>then scroll to find my favorites. I want to swipe to the contacts page and click one of my top 9 favorite contacts! Possible? If not, I plead with Apple to make this possible. It was the only thing I liked about my Droid!

How to setup the Home Screen Application

I'm using Nokia 5630 XpressMusic.
When I goto Menu->Settings->Settings->General->Personalisation->Standby Mode->Home Screen Application, there is a list of application available for selection(Mark/UnMark) as below:
O Shortcut bar
O Calendar
O WLAN
O Contacts on OVI
O Contacts bar
I will be able to check the applications that I wish to appear on the Home Screen. My question is how to setup a list of application available for selection. For example,
O Shortcut bar
O Messaging
O WLAN
O Calculator
O Web

to switch on and off the mode go to menu- settings- main display -active standby - active standby mode - on or off.
Sorry, I cannot get the option path you mentioned. I'm using Nokia 5630 model which is based on S60 3rd Edition software. When I goto main menu->settings: there are 4 options: "General", "Phone", "Connection" and "Applications"; I goto "General", there are "Personalization", "Date and time", "Enhancement", "Security", "Factory settings", "Positioning". I goto "Personalization", there are "Display", "Standby mode", "Tone", "Themes", "Language","Voice commands". I goto "Personalization", there are "Home screen applicaitons", "Shortcuts", "Standby theme", "Notifica.light", "Email notification". I cannot find the option that allow me to change the list of applicaitons on "Home screen applications".
Pls indicate which option path that I should use.

Getting next calendar event on home screen

I have just bought an iPhone 5, never had one before. On my old htc and before that, on my Nokia n95, I could get the next calendar event on my home screen - how do I do this on my iPhone?

Well how bizaare !
I went into Settings - Personal - Home Screen - Home Screen Theme and switched to "Basic", then to "Contacts" .... and the Home Screen emails appeared again.
I then went back to the Home Screen sub menu, and a 4th entry had appeared : E-mail Notification ! Before there were only 3 (Shortcuts, Home Screen and Home Screen Theme).
I've now gone back to my original Home Screen Theme (Shortcuts Bar).
What a strange (and at times frustrating) phone.

Soft buttons on home screen

Hi,
I am a new user of E71. After I inserted my SIM card , I received a theme from my operator including a screen saver and a soft button on the home screen "right button"
This button is assigned to services provided by my operator.
But it is useless for me. That's why I want to remove that button and assign it to an application if possible.
How can I achieve this ?
In another forum I've read that this button is configurable through the "standby mode" settings under phone settings.
Unfortunately I can't find such setting.
Can anyone help me please ?

That's ok.
Now I wonder if it is possible to change the applications with icons at the upper side of home screen.
How can I do that ?
For example, I don't want the default apps in the home screen, instead I prefer google maps.

Mail4Exch Home screen keeps disappearing ( 34.001)

Since going to 34.001 (yesterday) on a new E52 the Mail for Exchange Home screen on the Standby screen keeps disappearing as I navigate towards the message summary.
The Mail global settings > home screen settings are correct.
To get it back I have to power cycle the phone or go in to the Mail global settings > home screen and change and re change the settings.

I,ve had this problem and the only thing you can do is long press the menu key, elect home screen and it will come back ! Very annoying, but tends to be intermittant, may go a few weeks without a problem, then occur for several days, if you get a solution please post !!

HT5858 I downloaded the ios 7 update, and now none of my apps are showing as shortcut icons on the home screen.

I know the apps are all still on my phone because when I go to the app store and choose an app I have the "open" option instead of "install". Also when I double-tap the home screen I see all of the icons to scroll through at the bottom of the screen, I can tap on one and open it up with no problem, but how do I get the icons to show back up on the home screen?

Sync with itunes or on your phone go to appstore - update - purchase - all or not on this phone and redownload the app.

I have an iPhone 4 using iOS 7.1.2. On my home screen at the email icon it shows I have over 11,000 unread emails. I have no emails and am not receiving any. Ipad shows I am receiving emails ok. Om my phone deleted folder is empty as well as Sent.

Where did this come from and how do I get rid of it. The number is printed in read on top of the blue and white emaiI icon. I contacted my cable company and through their website I can check my email. In doing this it showed I had 25 unread emails. Also, my iPad 2 is receiving emails fine. So the problem is with the iPhone 4. What can I do to get rid of the number and make my mail operational?

I would start with taking a look at the settings to make sure that you are able to send and receive messages.
