IOS 5.1 not detect iphone over wifi.

I noticed that iphone was not detected by itunes over wifi since i upgraded ios 5.1 recently....
how to fix it?
I love synchronize over wifi..
does apple remove it in new software...

I've just had this problem today after upgrading to a 4s from a 4 but found neither showed up using different cables and ports.
Tried stopping and starting the service several times, hard resets, reinstall itunes, all sort.  It did however show up in Windows just fine (win7 64bit)
This is the bit that helped:
I found that even after a reinstall of itunes that "appl mobile device USB driver" did not show in device manager, hence why it won't talk to itunes.
Reinstalled this by:
- Going into device manager
- You should still see your iPhone under "Portabl Devices" (if you don't and it doesn't show in Windows go to your autoplay setting, look for the iphone at the bottom and set to anything other than "take no action" and it should now show up after a refresh),
- Right click on the iphone, select "Update Driver Software"
- Click "Browse my computer for driver software"
- Click "Let me pick......"
- Click "Have disk"
- Click "Browse"
- Go to "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers" (turns out even on 64 bit machine it's still held in 32 bit version of explorer)
- Select the file called "usbaapl64"
- OK your way back to the "update driver" screen (where you clicked "have disk")
- Click next and let the install run through
- close iTunes and disconnect your iPhone if connected
- Open itunes
- Connect your iPhone and it should be working now
Best of luck, this was driving me nuts for ages!
If this continues to work for others here then I would hope the same fix would work for iPads & iPods.

iTunes detects my iPhone over WiFi only if it's NOT connected to a power outlet, so if I try to sync it fails.

    Hi there argelle1!
I believe you will want to restore this iPod in order to resolve this issue, but there are some other troubleshooting steps you can try before that as well. Those steps can be found in this website:
iPod nano (6th generation): Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3474
Specifically, this is the section that refers to your issue:
Will not turn on or screen remains dark
Connect iPod to power for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has enough charge to allow iPod to turn on.
If iPod does not turn on after ten minutes, try resetting the device while it is still connected to power. Reset the iPod by holding down the Sleep/Wake button and the Volume Down button for at least eight seconds or until you see the Apple logo appear.
If the Apple logo appears on the display, connect iPod to a computer and verify that it appears in iTunes and can play music. If iPod appears in iTunes and can play music, no further troubleshooting is needed.
If the screen remains dark and will not turn on, then your iPod may need service.
Thanks for coming to the Apple Support Communities!

  • Can someone help me with backing up my iphone over wifi then restoring it?

basically i wanted to download the new ios 8 on my iphone 5c, i did not have enough memory and was unable to get onto a laptop/pc. i went onto settings>icloud>storage&backup>back up over wifi. i enable back up over wifi so when connected to wifi it will automatically back up, anyway after enabling this i pressed back up now and it backed my iphone up. i then started to delete apps and PHOTOS to get enough space, i then was able to get onto a laptop and tried to restore my iphone but it would not let me . it said i had to download ios 8 first then it would restore my device so i tried this and it will not download the new update, i still dont have enough memory to download the update but i do not want to delete more photos if i will be un able to get them back.
basically if i delete more photos to make enough space for ios 8, and then restore my iphone will i get all of the photos, apps and games i had before i started to delete them (baring in mind i did back up my iphone over wifi)

  • Airdrop not detecting iphone 6 after updating Yosemite yesterday. Everything is on in mac and iPhone but not able to detecting each other. continuity works fine though.

Does anyone has same problem? i tried everything and also turn of firewall but no luck. Trying to transfer photo from iPhone 6 to mac using airdrop but can not detect device. both wifi and bluetooth are on as well.

Not sure if this will help but I had a similar issue with iTunes not locating my iPhone 5 IOS 8.0.2.  The resolution for me (so it seems right now) was to 'forget' my network on both phone and macbook pro.  I rejoined the networks, rebooted each and so far so good.

    Hi abbiesetty,
If your iPhone is showing the Connect to iTunes screen and you are unable to restore because your iPhone isn't being recognized by iTunes on your Windows machine, you may find the troubleshooting steps outlined in the following article helpful:

  • Is there any way to move a file or something from one computer to another that will let the new computer backup my iphone over wifi? I don't want to have to sync my phone to the new computer (my sons computer).

    Hi,
I have my iphone 3GS setup to be able to backup and sync with my computer over wifi. But I want to be able to backup to my sons computer also.
The things is I don't want to have to sync to his computer first to do this. Is there a file or something I can move from my computer that is setup to his that would let his see my iphone over wifi?

If you don't have access to the old computer any longer, '''no'''. Unless you were using something like the Google Toolbar & Google Bookmarks or Xmarks, which would have your bookmarks in an online account that you could access. Firefox doesn't include an online storage feature for personal data, yet. That is coming in a future version.
If you have a friend at your old job maybe they have access to that old PC and they could export your bookmarks to a file and email that file to you.

  • How fast is the iPhone over Wifi?

How fast is the iphone over wifi?
It seems to be a lot slower compared to a laptop that is on wifi.
On the iphone bandwidth test page i found posted in this forum, i seem to get a max of 130KB a sec. *Bytes
It ranges usually lower than that though. Around 50 to 70KB
This is rather slow for a wifi connection.
    Is this normal?

I haven't ran any speed tests but using WiFi surfing on my phone seems just a bit slower then on my laptop. My WiFi is through a cable modem and using a square Apple Airport
I'm very surprised on how usable EDGE is. It seems about the same speed as the least expensive ADSL from Bellsouth that is 128kbps.

  • ITunes V12.1.2.27 on Windows 8 does not detect iPhone 6 with IOS v8.3

    Hello there,
It all began when I installed the latest IOS 8.3 and iTunes V12.1.2.27. iTunes simply does not detect my iPhone 6 any longer, but it does detect my old iPod mini. Everything used to be working just fine until the software update was done.
I've run thru all the steps on the Apple support page and spent over an hour on the phone with customer support. Checked the Apple mobile device driver, deinstalled iTunes, reinstalled iTunes, changed connecting cables etc etc. Nothing works!!
    Help!
    LES

exact same issue. And I can be TOTALLY sure it is related to the update since I was at the birthday party of my little nephew taking photo and everything were just fine. Then my brother asked me if I had already updated my iPhone. I said no and then I updated it while I was still there. From the moment the phone ended the update, I ended taking photos... The update screwed the camera focus mechanism somehow. I'm trying to downgrade to 8.1.3 and see if it will be back to normal. In this case it is a software issue, otherwise it will be a hardware failure caused by the update. I'm dowloading 8.1.3 ipsw right now.

  • IPhone 4 with IOS 6 did not detecting the public wi-fi network but able to connect with my home wireless

iphone 4 after install the iOS 6 wi-fi networks are not detecting on public spot but working on home network. What is the reason for this/ any settings?

Is the firmware in the router up to date?
See here for the latest for v2.2: http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/routers/WRT54G
Note: All these ideas are a bit lame since you say that some iPhone 5s are connecting OK and they running the same iOS level 6.1 and, i think, have the same Broadcom WiFi chip BCM4334.
All devices are running iOS 6.1 right not 6.0.1, or 6.0.2?
You might want to try your iPad mini on some other WiFi networks to see how it fares there.
