IOS 5.1 Upgrade caused Mute Problems

Has anyone upgraded to the latest iOS (5.1) and then experienced problems? My conversations are muted (one way – out) since upgrading to 5.1 last week. I’ll be mid-conversation and the other party will say “I can’t hear you, where did you go?”. If I switch to speakerphone, I come back. It is like the mute feature is active, but it doesn’t show as activated on the device. I have an iPhone 4 on ATT.

I have a VERY similar issue.  It would work for moments and then bam, mute!  Then every call after that, i am mutted.  However, unlike your device, 'speakerphone mode' is still muted.
I've been looking for ways to downgrade to iOS 5.0, but i dont know how.   Ive noticed with a few phones similar to yours where person at the other end wouldnt hear me, but it progressively got worst and few days after upgrade
I spoke to an apple genius they said i had to pay for the $150 so they could look at the problem.  I have an iPhone 4 on AT&T as well.

I am a newspaper copy editor and use Firefox to work from home. I use the SCC mediaserver to crop photos and place them in the JazBox system, which includes Adobe InCopy and InDesign. For some reason, the crop function is not working on the SCC when I go on it in Firefox, although it's working in Internet Explorer, which is much slower. I didn't have this problem until I installed a Firefox update today. What can I do?

  • IPhone 4 iOS 4.1 upgrade causing app crashes

So I updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 4.1 a couple days ago. Since the upgrade I have noticed several apps suddenly close for no reason. I'll be browsing in an app, click a button and all of a sudden I'm at my phone's home screen with no explanation of why the app closed. Apps that are programed for multitasking remember where I was when I relaunch, so that helps.
Apps that I've taken note of as being "infected" are:
    · The Default Mail Client
    · Safari Web Browser
    · Cars.com
    · Engadget
    · Joystick
    · The Weather Channel
    · Cnet
    · Facebook
There may have been others, but I don't remember. It's getting frustrating because the phone just goes to the home screen.
I've reset settings, I've reset the phone. I'm not sure what else I can do and it seems like it's something in the iOS not the apps.
Anybody else experiencing this particular problem?

    kolobear wrote:
I don't want to do a restore. It's a pain to have to reorganize my folders and install all of my apps. It could take a couple hours to get everything back to the way I want it.
Is that time worth solving the issue of apps crashing? If it were happening to me, I would think so.
I will debate doing a restore from backup, but if I don't see an immediate need to restore, then I will deal with the issues until update 4.2 is released for iPhone.
It doesn't hurt to try doing a restore from backup. Takes no more than 30 minutes in most cases and everything will be just as it was, and perhaps without the crashing problem. You won't know if you don't try it, and this option has a very low risk of creating any further problems. Waiting around another 2 months for another update that may or may not fix your problem seems silly.
I don't want to mark this as "answered" yet. There is something wrong here with the release or in how itunes and my iphone handled the upgrade.
There's nothing "wrong" with the release, just how your phone handled the update. Problems sometimes do occur during software updates, and wiping the phone and doing a fresh restore will almost always cure a majority of problems. Had you called Apple or gone to a Genius Bar with this problem, I'll guarantee you that a restore would be #2 on their list of suggestions.
It is possible that some of the apps were experiencing problems. I received updates for about 5 apps this week. Since I'm new to iphone, I'm not sure the frequency that devs push out updates. The crashes are random and I don't always think to make a mental note of what was happening when the crash happened.
That depends on the Dev. Some of my apps are updated regularly. Others have been neglected for a year or more.
In the mean time, should you choose not to do a restore, all I can suggest is to reboot your phone often, keep an eye on the multitasking and keep the number of background apps to a minimum and to try deleting the offending apps from the phone and re-downloading them.
    Good luck.

  • IOS 8.2 update causes iMessage problems

Before I updated to iOS 8.2, the iMessage feature was working fine, I had no problems with it. Ever since I downloaded it, I can't send iMessages. When I try to turn them on, it says, "An Error occurred during activation. Try again." Please help this is so **** annoying.

Problem is resolved.  The update somehow triggered my wireless carrier to suspend the line.  I had to have them unsuspend it and then everything worked.

  • ITunes 7.3.2.6 Upgrade Causing Serious Problems With Outlook

I just finished the upgrade to iTunes 7.3.2 and am experiencing serious issues when syncing my iPhone (ver. 1.01)with Outlook 2003. Right after the upgrade of iTunes, my Outlook reminder window popped open saying I had over due appointments. The appointments were all over due in multi-week expressions including birthdays from the original birth dates. My dad's birthday was like 3,800 weeks over-due. This repeated for all entries and birthdays. When I dismissed them all, I noticed that ALL of my repeating calendar entries, including birthdays, were gone. I have lost some data but was able to restore from backup. The problem repeated when I tried again. Main problem now is that the iPhone does not sync with Outlook at all anymore even though it appears to be doing so. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

My phone has just been resetting itself all day since upgrading to 8.2. It's useless at this point. It gets to the white screen with the Apple logo for about two - three seconds, then resets. This is all my phone does now.
This is not a very good upgrade. I would at least like to text or make calls or even use the operating system.

    Hi
I am experiencing wireless connection problem on 4s after ios 8.1 upgrade. The wireless icon appears showing that it's connected but webpages do not load. I have checked my internet connection with other devices and seems to be alright. what to do?
I have tried reseting the network settings and forgetting my wireless connection and re-connecting to it. I even backed up my phone on itunes and restored it, factory reseted it. Nothing seems to work.
Also after my upgrade to ios 8.1 my personal hotspot option under cellular data has disappeared.
Would you please help me out? I would really appreciate it.

    Hi..
Restart your router then restart the iPhone to test.

  • Clock problems after IOS 4.2 upgrade

We have 2 Iphone 4 at home, each connected to a different computer ( 1 Mac, 1 PC ).
After the upgrade to IOS 4.2 both have a problem with the clock. When the phone is put on "update clock automatically" ,the following happens (We live in Belgium)
-Phone 1 switches to summer time as soon as a connection with the provider is made. If you go to fly mode, or put the clock on manual, the correct time is displayed. This occurs wherever you are so it is not linked to the information provided by the cell tower. After a hard reset and restore, this problem was solved.
-Phone 2 is even stranger. I was in NYC a few weeks ago and set the clock manually on EST. Back in Belgium everything worked fine until after the upgrade. Now the clock will go to EST overnight, ie when I wake up in the morning at 7 AM, it is suddenly 2 AM in the morning. Here, if you go to manual setting of the clock, then switch back to automatic setting, it works fine again.... until the next morning ! And I don't switch off the phone at night
I guess a hard reboot + restore will be needed as well.
Anybody else came across this problem ?

Since 2 days I have the same problem with my Iphone.
I also live in Belgium and my phone was all of a sudden 1 hour ahead of our local time. I modified the clock settings to manual and then the time switched back correctly. Today somewhere between 8 and 11 AM I noticed the clock was 1 hour ahead again. I adjusted the clock settings to manual again and the clock is correct again. How come this is happening ?
It all started since my upgrade to version 4.2.1.
Can someone please take a look at this ? For the record I use the 3 GS 16 GB version. My provider is Proximus.
Seems my favorite Apple is starting to look a lot like Microsoft since this is the second major time/clock bug in a few weeks.

  • Sound problems after iOS 4.2 upgrade

Experiencing very poor sound quality after iOS 4.2 upgrade. Bad eq, left channel dropping out, sounds like heavy reverb. Exists with iPod and pandora apps. Tried adjusting eq in settings. Any one else having problems?

Yep I just upgraded to new OS 4.2 on iPhone 4 and I get this static buzz sound when talking to people it's really annoying and sound quality is terrible. What happened? I went back to the shop and they said it's the upgrade and that there is an issue with it. They also said there is no point leaving the phone with them as they can't fix it that it's upto apple to release a patch for the problem. Can we get a fix for this soon before I damage my ears?

  • Dictation problems after ios 8.2 upgrade

I rely heavily upon dictation.   2 problems occur (at minimum) after ios 8.2 upgrade to iphone 6. .
    1. I wasnt going to add this dictation bug (feature ;-)) b/c couldnt reproduce the seemingly safari bug when got home, but as I was dictating my first sentence for defect here, it happens in this text box on any line. :-(.
        1. Problem is as soon as dictation types in word Or words, when I hit done, it erases what was just dictated!  Happens on even just ine word. (So having to manually type all of this n I stink at typing ie, time consuming).
        2. I can paste characters from noteoad into here...so must be dictation relateD...it seems.
    2.  In the calendar textbox, when I dictate a new event (doesnt happen in location textbox) and the last character before it fills up the end of textbox (just before the "x"), it automatically does "done" for me (the beep sounds), it stops dictating, but more annoying is it will no longer allow me to continue dictating in that new event's top textbox.  That means I HAVE to type n I stink at that. To reproduce I simply:
    1. press the microphone.
      2. Type in only numerics 1 thru 17....it will dictate to look like this:  123 456-789-1011 1213 1415 1617
      3. "Beep/dong" noise because it hits the end of characters alowed it seems n decides it is "Done".
      4.  press the microphone
       5. "Beep/dong" noise because it wont let you dictate any more of anything said.
I Couldnt find the entry where google shows someone with what looks like same issue/bug/defect/feature # 2, so entering this.
I Have warranty but cant figure out how to get phone support for iphone (only mac ...last year).
I don't seem to have this problem using i notepad in phone when he gets to having to wrap. :-)
I Have not trieddictation on my mac...yet.
CAn someone help on these issues please? Thanks!

    Hey Markwoody,
Wow! That definitely sounds frustrating, but good job so far isolating and troubleshooting the issue. We have a few more steps that we can try in an attempt to resolve this issue:
First, it sounds like you have tried restarting your phone. Let’s try a reset instead:
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    https://support.apple.com/en-us/ht201559
    How to reset
    - You should reset your device as a last resort and only if you can't restart it.
    - To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
If the issue persists, we’ll want to restore your device to factory settings and test once more. You can backup your device, but be sure to restore it as new first for isolation purposes, as restoring a backup can sometimes restore the same issues that you were experiencing before.
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings - Apple Support

    Thanks,
    Matt M.

    See this tip --> http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1559
If this doesn't resolve it you most likely have a hardware failure. Fortunately, your phone is in warranty, so if you take it to an Apple store they will replace it.

  • HT4859 If I upgrade to an Iphone 4s, can I delete the account from my old Iphone and will it cause any problems?

I have upgraded to an Iphone 4s from an Iphone, can I delete the icloud account of the old phone on my new one without it causing any problems? it seems to have a lot of storage  (3.3Gb)

You should be able to copy all of your purchases (apps, music, films etc) from your current iPhone to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases. As long as they remain available in the store then apps can be re-downloaded, music can be re-downloaded in some countries, and TV shows and films in fewer (and even where films can be re-downloaded not all film studios have agreed to it) - ringtones and audiobooks can't be re-downloaded.
    Re-downloading : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
In terms of the apps content and settings, then if you backup the phone to your computer's iTunes then you should be able to restore that backup onto your new phone : how to backup and restore. Passwords (email, router, website) won't be restored onto a different device so you will need to re-enter them on your new phone.
You can also copy photos off your current phone. Just in case the backup and restore doesn't work (it should but it's best to be safe), you may also want to copy any important documents off your current phone as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc.
