IOS 5 and music syncing
I manually manage music on my iphone. I have smart playlists that autoupdate...ie "not played in 6 months". Since IOS 5, everytime I sync, any of the changes that were done on my iphone, ie songs I have played, revert back to the previous metadata. So if before I sync, I have 450 songs not played, it will go back to what I had previously---ie 480 or so.
Any idea how to get around this or why it is happening? It did not do this before IOS 5
Same problem. I can't delete or even SEE any of the music on my iPhone, via my iTunes...
Note how it says a large potion of my space is audio, but at the very bottom it says "zero items."
What gives???

It sounds like you would like to open another tab in Safari without closing the ones you already have open. The + symbol you are looking for to open another tab is in the upper right hand corner in Safari on the iPad using iOS 7.

Help with photos and music sync
Hello,
I recently bought Xperia Z Ultra and I wish to sync my music and some photos from computer (photos to build in memory and music to external SD card). I installed and updated Media Go (v. 2.7 build 341) and I though that will be easy like in ... iTunes. Click what you want to sync and it is done. But here it doesn't work like that. I found that I can check and send music or photos using add to but is it rather copy not sync because I checked if I add new music it won't be send until I use add to again, which is not acceptable. When I will go to sync media I can sync Recent media, purchases, my top rated songs, recently played, photos added today and flagged items but there is no option to sync all music or all photos.
So how are you managed this issue?

da1kI don't sync I simply connect my phone and copy and paste the items to the folders I want them it - If I want details ie: Tagging then I do this before I copy and paste the files to my phone - For music I use mp3tag and for pictures I use my built in to Windows 7 and 8 system or you could use Picasa

My Problem:
I have lots of music on my iPhone, I also have a few videos on my iPhone, I WOULD like both of them on at the same time, but for some reason, even though I tick the 'Manage Music and Videos Manually' manually being the operative word, it either lets me have one or the other, if I sync videos I lose ALL music, if I sync Music I lose ALL videos, the manual manage tick disappears EVERYTIME I sync either....WHY IS THIS HAPPENING..???
SHAME ON YOU APPLE...I think I may have solved the issue paradis, I found if you sync the videos you want onto the IPhone, then goto Library (Top Left) and Music, you will have to literally drag all your music across to the iPhone in Directories (Left Middle)..I then went to File/Sync iPhone....that seemed to have worked for me..Let me know if it does for you..;-)

I have a new iPhone 4 and an iPad and I want to sync my purchased books (and bookmarks) from the iPad to the iPhone via iTunes and my MBP. But this seems to be only possible if I also automatically sync music and videos. Is there a way to manually manage music and videos but sync books?
As soon as I click on 'sync books' in the Books tab it deletes all the music and videos from my iPhone or iPad (and manually 'manage music and videos' in the summary gets unchecked). If I reselect 'manually manage music and videos', 'sync books' gets automatically unchecked and during the next sync all my books get deleted. Very annoying!I have the latest software on iPad 2 plus iPhone but my iBooks don't sync can anyone please advise my other info does sync. Thank you

I am currently try to download music from Rhapsody to my daughter Ipod Touch 4th Generation. I have made the Apple ID: and went through the whole thing, but once the Ipod is plugged into my computer it doesn't show up in my media. What am I doing wrong?
You have to import the music into your iTunes library and then sync it to your iPod

When connecting ipad to itunes, in the Summary tab (in itunes for your device), look in the Backups section and choose to back up to itunes.

Upgraded to iTunes 11. Now, I can not sync my music to my iPhone 4S (iOS 6.0.1). Apps, movies and videos sync OK. Music is the problem. Tags are correctly check-marked. NO ERROR MESSAGE THOUGH. Just a No Content in the Music App in the iPhone. Any ideas ???

I have Mac itunes and a touch 2G. My wife has Win7 and touch 4G (both iOS 4.2.1). She got a new iphone, I now have her touch 4G, and am trying to sync it to my Mac itunes. The music and videos sync to the 4G, but apps & podcast will not. All are checked to sync. During sync, it gets to "determining apps to sync" then immediately goes to "finished syncing". No apps or podcasts from my Mac itunes are on the touch 4G.
You can only sync to one iTunes library but you can manage music and videos among different computer/libraries.
It appears that you are trying to sync with a different library.

IOS music library and iTunes syncing problems

Just wondering if the issues that have been bothering me for some time and with multiple recent iOS and iTunes versions are going to get fixed in the future?
Adding or removing music manually or automatically between iTunes and the iOS has resulted in the corruption of the music library on the iOS device several times and the solution to fix the problem is always to empty the device and to start over. For example today I noticed that the album art had disappeared from my music (a known issue) and I searched the forums for a solution. Well the solution is to empty all of the music from the device and upload it back again and the album art will be back. Great! Except the music got deleted and still the space in use is showing "other usage" for the exact size of my deleted music library. If I try to add some music it adds to the space of the mysterious occupied space and the device is soon full. Time to start from scratch again. The syncing is broken and the software is buggy and I'd like it to work flawlessly instead of starting from scratch every time I'm making any minor changes to my music library. I think the reliability of the software and the basic functions is more important than the ability for the phone to ring in the computer whenever I get a call. Which is pretty amazing in someone else's opinion I'm sure.
Oh yes and the iPad is not uploading updated apps to the iTunes automatically which it did some software versions ago (a known issue). This is annoying.Schpoiler,
I had the very same problem with you. I think the main reason for this happening is purchasing and downloading content with your phone. I don't know how it happens though, this seems the problem with me.
What I did is, I basically erased all content and settings from my iPhone and used my backup in my mac to install everything back again. After that, the "other usage" got really small in size and as I deleted all the songs by using syncing, I saw that music occupied no space in my phone. Then, I synchronized my music back again and now everything works just fine. -
So I don't sync my iPad very often. My dad and I share a computer. And I decided to do it the other day. I am pretty sure I did it all correctly selecting music that I wanted not deleting playlists but it seems to be that they are gone. And music I didn't want has appeared. And now I don't have an option (with this new iOS 6.1.2) to make new playlists or edit music I don't want out.
I know I need help figuring those two things out 1 how to make a play list. There isn't a "add" button anymore in that screen I have a "you have no playlist"with a button underneath that says "go to iTunes Store" why I would need the store for that, I do not know.
Then in the songs, artists, albums sections where you used to be able to hit "edit" button to delete the music you have that you don't want. I don't seem to be able to do anything at all to get rid of the random music I have.
I need help. I know my iPad fairly well but I am not super savvy with it either.Is there a "New" button at the top right of the Playlists section of Music?
There is no Edit button to delete music, swipe sideways on the song to reveal the delete button. Tap and hold on the artwork in Artists and albums to reveal the (X) button to delete. Or connect the iPad back up to iTunes on the computer and check your sync settings for music to ensure you are syncing the right content. -
How come although iPads are getting more powerful, the iOS apps from apple are so mediocre and just not that great? We spend all this money for the latest ipad and all we get is these $5 video and music apps from apple. Why create the iOS platform and only offer so so apps like IMovie and GarageBand ? While other developers are offering much better apps like pinnacle studio for video, Cubasis and Auria for music production, apple has not showed much growth in terms of innovation. While there's nothing wrong with making an app like GarageBand where "anyone " can make a song, how about something for real musicians or an app not so basic as it get for video editing? After spending 0ver $700 on an ipad I'd be willing to spend more than $5 for a better video or audio app.
First, try a system reset although I can't give you any confidence. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. -
I downloaded my sons ipod 5g with the latest iOS and now when we try to sync it says we have no space, but there is nothing but a few apps on his ipod and he has plenty of space. The messege says that most of is space is taken up by video but there is no video or music on his ipod right now. I've tried to reset his ipod but that did not help the problem. What can I do?

I have a Iphone 4, upgraded to ios 5 with itunes 10.5 Since doing upgarde to both Itunes and Iphone I am not able to add individual songs from my itunes library to my Iphone. I get a grey listing of the song and the sync symbo but it is not moving. Nothing appears on my phone screen. So not able to add music to my phone and its driving me nuts.....

FIRST there are some games and music in ITunes on the VIAO. When I try to sync them to the ITOUCH or the IPAD I get a message that I am not authorized….Go to the ITunes Store and Authorize this computer. I have completed this procedure several times and receive back the message you are authorized on this computer and I have authorized 2 of 5 devices allowed.

How good is the built in backup?
We are going to upgrade or server to Windows Server 2012 Essentials. Today we are using Symantec Backup Exec. Will the built in backup in WS be enough? We will be using MS SQL Server and it's crucial that that data will be backed up properly.
