IOS 5 Calendar app current time bar off after time switch

Here is a issue I have recently noticed. Yesterday we had time fall back one hour. On my Macbook, Iphone 4, and Ipad2, the system time is showing correctly(the time in menu bar on the Mac, and in the top system bar on iOS). On my two Ios5 devices however, in the "Calendar" app, the little bar with the red dot (i refer to as the "current time bar") still shows one hour ahead. So for example the actual time in Los Angeles, CA right now is 3:19 PM but in the calendar app on both Ios devices it shows as 4:19 PM. Keep in mind that the system time is showing 3:19 PM on both of these devices. I logged into the http://www.icloud.com web site and it shows correctly. On my Mac book running MacOSX 10.7.2 everything shows up ok (both system time and iCals current time bar). I am connected to Wi-Fi and 3G. I do have time zone support enabled on all devices, but turning that off did not help anything and I don't see how that could be causing this. What is causing this? Is this a bug in iOS5? Please let me know if you are experiencing the same issue so we can have Apples developers fix this bug. Thanks have a nice afternoon.
The issue:
The "Current time bar" in iOS5 Calendar is showing up one hour ahead after time switch as of yesterday (11/5/2011 Los Angeles, CA)
What I know:
System time on Mac, Iphone and Ipad shows up as the right time
Current time bar in iCal on MacOSX 10.7.2  shows right
Current time bar in Calendar on icloud.com shows right
Common posts:
This post seems to be experiencing the same issue.

I'm having the same issue... the time is right on my phone, however the time-bar is showing DST (one hour ahead). I've restarted the phone... checked my iCloud time zone, etc... even tried turning on/off the Time Zone support not only for the phone but also in the Calendar... nothing.
So in the end, correct time but the time-bar is incorrect. I hope this is just a bug that needs fixing by Apple...

  • How to set up iOS calendar app with shared Google Calendar data

At work (in our small office) I've been given access to the shared Google Calendar that has our work schedule. It was set up using this page (click on Share an existing calendar):
    https://support.google.com/calendar/answer/37082
The question I have is how to set it up to work with iOS calendar app on my iPhone?

"currently there is no shared group calendar support."
Well, not really. You hinted at it with: "set up a group wiki."
Go into Workgroup Manager and set up an Open Directory group. Add people to it.
Each client must then go into iCal --> Preferences --> Accounts and add an account. The name and password entered must be the same as that added to the group, Kerberos must be unchecked, and the account URL will be like (fill in the blanks properly):
    http://<your domain name here>:8008/principals/groups/<your group name here>/
Now each properly logged in user of that group can make changes to the shared group calendar, without any "hacks" like making dummy users and delegation.
However, I am getting a notifier: "Request Error: Accesss to <event name> in <your group name here> in account <your group name here> is not permitted." But that seems to be a lie, since multiple members of the group can make changes and others can see the changes.
Oh yea, make sure you have a functioning DNS with valid reverse lookup.

  • Face time on/off after 8.2 update fixes messaging

? In settings: face time on/off after 8.2 update may fix messaging & phone calls.

Thank you for your  suggestion but I think all of us has tried this . I'm not having as diffult issues as others , mine was updated on my private VPN using 100 mb Internet ssevice, fastest in the market, This mainly applies to the phone carrier settings and that is something we will have to wait on Apple to update. I talked to Apple tech and they said they were working on a fix for some carrier settings, mostly people using off the wall cell phone carriers are affected the most. It's a lack of communication between iPhone and iTunes to the network carrier, that's all they had to say for now... Thanks again

  • The video on the Camera app seems to turn off after a few min...I am trying to do a 20 min video.   What am I doing wrong please?

The camera app has a video feature on it and I tried to do a 20 min video but it seems to turn off after a few minutes.  I tried twice with the same results.  There is no info under settings or anywhere on time restraints.  Does anyone have any suggestions please?

    Sasabean-
I do not know if this is related to your problem, but there is a setting on the iPad called "Auto-Lock".  Mine is set for 5 minutes.  One of the options is Never.  See Settings-General-Auto-Lock.

  • IOS (iPad App)...possible to detect mute switch? volume off?

Is it possible to detect if the user has turned mute switch on?  Is it possible to detect the system volume to determine if it is all the way down?
We would like to display a dialog box telling the user they need to turn up the volume on iPad or turn off the mute switch.
    Thanks,

Maybe jailbreak would allow a system level patch to disable the switch like I suggested.
That's a topic that cannot be discussed on these forums

The so called Apple factory refurbished units I assume to mean they do repair returned units at some point and resell them?  Otherwise why call them refurbished - they are just brand new?
Apple does not repair them.  The manufacturer, Foxconn, does so back at their facilities in China.  Apple just ships them back, and receives factory refurbished service units from them.  That is why they are called refurbished and not repaired - they are fully refurbished by the actual manufacturer.  They all get new screens and new battery, regardless of age or condition, any other faults are repaired and they are fully tested and come with a minimum of a 90 day warranty.

  • Time Machine problems after time away...

I have time machine set up on a hard drive hooked up to an airport extreme. For the past ~4 months it has worked perfectly. However, I was out of town for 2 weeks recently, and because I was getting sick of seeing the errors from time machine not being able to find the hard drive I turned time machine off.
Now that I am back I cannot get time machine to complete a backup. Most of the time it just hangs on "preparing backup" for hours. One time it did start a backup and said it was backing up like 3 gigs (which made sense because I installed a few new apps while away). I left it going unattended for 5+ hrs, and when I came back it was no longer backing up. However, time machine still says "latest backup: may 18", which is the day before I went out of town.
any suggestions on what I can do to get this working again?
p.s. a thought I just had... I installed 10.5.7 while I was away... in case that matters...

mbw234, yes it is possible to speed up the backup process of wireless backups. I stumbled upon this last year and it has worked several time after that. See my success at the following link:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1717196
In the meantime here is the procedure in brief:
*Faster Initial Backup for Airport Connected Hard Drives (AirDisk)*
First, ensure that the external hard disk is properly partitioned & formatted for use as a Time Machine backup disk.
Attache the drive directly to your Mac (USB, or FireWire) and partition it using the procedure in the post here: (Scroll down to "Procedure")
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=8432923#8432923
    Once the partitioning/formatting is complete...
Disconnect it from the Mac and move the hard disk to the USB port of your Airport wireless device.
    Open Time Machine Preferences.
    Click "Options...".
Select the hard disk and click "Use for backup".
Leave the Time Machine Preferences open.
Now initiate a backup by selecting "Back Up Now" from the Time Machine menu.
Watch the progress bar in the Time Machine Preferences.
When "Preparing Backup..." disappears and data begins to be transferred, stop the backup by clicking the tiny "x" icon to the right.
When "Stopping Backup..." disappears, disconnect the hard disk from the Airport wireless device and move it back to your Mac.
Now resume the backup by selecting "Back Up Now" from the Time Machine menu.
This will take several hours, but it will be much shorter than allowing it to proceed wirelessly.
Once the backup is complete, disconnect the hard disk and move it back to the Airport wireless device.
Now, incremental backups should continue to be added to the existing backup set without created a new Full Backup.
As Pondini explained, the format Time Machine uses is different depending on whether you backup wirelessly, or directly attached to your Mac. The procedure above, gets the wireless format started by creating the necessary disk image (sparsebundle). Interestingly, Time Machine seems to respect this disk image once it has been moved and connected directly to the Mac. Unless something has changed with recent updates of the Mac OS, the above should work for you.
Let us know if this helped. Cheers!

I also have the exact same problem.
I NEVER use Safari, but I tried it just to see if it would also crash. It did. It crashes under all user accounts as well. Please understand that iTunes crashes when I go to the store, and The App Store just crashes after a few seconds (~10) after launch.
Any help with this guys? Here is the log file/dump from starting the App Store...
I am willing to restore whatever from hand. I really don't want to have to restore the OS from scratch and then manually reload everything.
Also. I tried removing all the extensions mentioned, and I had none.
I tried the disk repair utility and it found no errors.

  • IOS 4 Apps Sharp During Update/Fuzzy After Update

So this is something that I've noticed has garnered almost zero attention from the press or from the Apple community. Basically, about 75% of the time, when I update an app that has been updated for a higher resolution icon, it'll display the sharper, higher-res icon while the update is downloading, but once the app has been updated, it'll go back to its fuzzy, low-res self. Sometimes, it'll even revert back to an older icon, completely different than the one on display in the app store. A good example of this phenomenon is InfectThemAll, as not only is its icon not updated for iOS 4 as far as my home screen is concerned, but it's actually an older icon than the one on the store.
Now I've done everything that there is to do to fix this issue. I've deleted, then redownloaded every app from the phone. I've deleted, then deleted the app from my computer, then redownloaded from my computer and synced. I've even completely restored my phone. None of these things solve this issue. It appears that this is exclusive to the iPhone, as when my iPhone is plugged into my computer, the home screen view on iTunes displays the correct, higher-res icons perfectly.
So has anyone else come across this issue, and if so, is there a fix for it or will I just be stuck with crummy looking icons until Apple addresses this? Thanks.

Close the App Store app and reset your iPad.
In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Next, reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If those things made no difference, try this. Reset all settings. You will not lose any data, but most of the device settings will have to be entered in the settings app again. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all Settings.

  • I can not edit or delete events in ios calendar app

    iPhone 5s.  iOS7.
I have synched my google calendar with my iphone using caldv.  The calendars appear just fine.  I can add events, but when I attempt to edit them, they go back to the original event (prior to edit) after a few seconds.  Also, if I delete an event, a few seconds later, it reappears.  Very frustrating
    Am I missing something?

Not sure if you had same problem as I did but I had to go into settings then cloud and make sure contacts was set to on... (I had turned them off as I was a bit wary of the iCloud )

  • Neoworx app on my website fails after time

Hi a page on my own website contains a neoworx counter This page contains a web cam and I keep the page running all day. After a few hours of running the counter goes blank and refuses to reload unless I shut down Firefox and re load. If I run the page in Safari it doesn`t seem to happen. Any suggestions?
    Regrads
    Terry

Double-click the Home button, hold down the Apps in the Task Bar for a second or two until you see the minus sign. Tap the minus sign to close all the inactive Apps.
Reboot and test your iPad again.

  • How do I hide the blank week between months on the iOS calendar app?

I keep double booking appointments near the end of each month because it appears (at a glance) that next week is open and available. How can I get the app to hide (not show) a blank week between each month? Thank you.

Are you still using IOS 5 ? If so you could upgrade to IOS 7, it doesn't have blank weeks.

  • Can't open Preview/Calendar/App store/iBooks/Terminal/Mail after updated to Mavericks

After I updated to Mavericks, I can not open Preview, Dictionary, App Store, iBooks, Keynotes, Photobooth, Quicktime, Contact, Calender, etc...
Mail keeps crashing everything I opened it.
iTunes and Safari is still working. Can someone tell me what's happening and how to solve my problem? Thanks a lot!
BTW, I remeber this symptom happened after I used Cleanmymac.

Evi, I have the same problem. When I first updated to Mavericks, everything is OK, but I use Cleanmymac too, It is may be because of Cleanmymac, it cleaned about 1G files.
Now I can not open App Store, how can I download and reinstall Mavericks?

  • Odd Menu Bar Labels After Time Machine Restore

I just got my new MBPR 13" and tried to restore it from a Time Machine Backup during the initial setup process. This proceeded in about a minute (I have 450GB used on my old computer) then told me it was "done" and booted up. The machine was empty, so I attempted to launch Migration Assistant, which initially loaded and asked me to select a backup, but then immediately crashed and subsequently refused to load despite several restarts. I finally booted into the Recovery Partition and restored from a Time Machine Backup from there which seemed to work great, and took a much more reasonable 2 hours to copy all files. Everything looks fine in terms of files, but the OS is exhibiting some odd behaviors. For instance, when I click on the WiFi logo, instead of an "On" label it has a button labeled "kAirportStatusOnKey" with all buttons labeled similarly. My Time Machine HDD (named James' HDD) also showed up with an odd name in the Time Machine menu item. These are the things I have noticed, but I doubt they are isolated. Anyone seen this before, or have an idea about what might have happened and how to fix it?
    Thanks guys,
    James

Do you have any software that custom installs something on the menubar?  Many such programs do not carry their compatibility through every operating system update and need to be updated periodically.
