IOS 5 calendar bug: Floating Appointments

This is a bug with iOS 5's calendar that you can reproduce yourself. This bug was not in iOS 4:
1. Enter an appointment into iCal on your Mac running Mac OS X 10.6.8.
2. Make the appointment a FLOATING appointment, which means that its time will ALWAYS stay the same, regardless of which time zone you are in.
3. Sync your calendar using MobileMe.
4. Now go to your iPhone 4 running iOS 5.0.1.
5. Sync your calendar using MobileMe.
6. Make sure your iPhone's calendar settings have Time Zone Support turned ON.
7. Go into your calendar, and look for your floating appointment.
8. On the MONTH view, your appointment looks JUST FINE! The times are correct!! However, if you try to EDIT THE EVENT, you will see the gigantic bug crop up: the times are completely & wildly off from your original floating times. If you try to modify the times, then you will only mess up the times on the month view even more. There is no way to get the iPhone's calendar appointments to accurately reflect the floating time on both the month view and when editing the appointment. It is completely off.

Thanks for the info, I gave it a try but am still having the same problem as I mentioned before.
I believe your issue is a bit different than mine.  My 3 outlook canlanders are there, two of them are displaying (my wife's calendar and my work), however the primary calendar I use in outlook isn't displaying.  It shows that it is selected, however none of my events are there.  I'm able to add new events in this calendar just fine, but all of my events that were there prior to the upgrade in iOS aren't.
I've already checked settingings to make sure it syncs all old data also, but it still doesn't display events from my main calendar.
So the issue isn't that I am missing all Outlook calendars, rather I am missing only one of the 3.

  • IOS 7 calendar bugs

iOS 7 calendar on iPhone is not showing notifications for today or scheduled events for tomorrow. Is anyone experiencing this problem?

    Bug in monthly view.
If I'm viewing the current month, all is fine. (So far for Sep and Oct). The top left hand corner labels the current month correctly and in bold. Eg. October 2013. I'll call this the (monthly) Label.
But if I scroll forward to view future months, the Label displays the month incorrectly, lagging by a month.
For example. I'm viewing the whole of January's calendar but the label would still be December.
I have to scroll till January is almost out of view ( and Feb coming into view) before the label indicates January. By then, the little 'Feb' in 'Feb 1' has disappeared.
And I would see Feb dates indicated as January.
This issue is unstable. When I first got to ios 7, the labeling issue was apparently from viewing the current month.
Now, it seems to behave for the current and next month before it goes haywire again.
So please do scroll to many months ahead to check if you have this bug.

  • Ios 7 calendar bug meeting passing midnight

I am running a Mac Mini Mountain Lion server with calendar for my wife and I. we both have iPhone with IOS 7
My wife writes her work hours, since there are night shifts, in her calendar to let me know when she is working.
After IOS 7 the calendar app is showing her work time all wrong if it passes midnigt.
Example: She is to go to work on the 27th at 23:00 and get off work at 07:00 the next morning. The problem is that the calendar looks like she is going to work at 07:00 on the 27th and getting off work at 07:00 on the 28th. Conclusion: It respects start-date, end-date, end-time, but ignores start-time and substitutes it with end-time, when the appointment streteches across midnight.
It does not forget the correct times, because they are still there if I try to edit the appointmen, and other iPhone Calendar apps show the appointments correctly. Mavericks Calendar also shows it correctly.

Well, with that, the only way I would know to troubleshoot if a reset does not help would be a restore. A restore will reload the OS, and the calendar app is part of the OS. Create a backup of the device, then restore the device as new. Try to enter an event in the calendar as you describe and see if it works. If it does, then try restoring to your backup and see if that changes it. If you have an Apple store close by, you could always make an appointment there and see what they have to say, and even try the event on a display device to see how it acts.
I cannot say anything about the timezone and regional settings. Like you say, we are on two different groupings. I'm in the US in the Central time zone.
    Good luck in your troubleshooting.

There is no way to enter an appointment beyond 3pm to 4pm for Thu 27th of March 2008. This problem onluoccurs for this specific date! Can someone else please try?

OK, the fact that this worked for others inspired me to change my Time Zone to test. The bug only shows in my Time Zone, which is Amman, Jordan (GMT +2). When I changed to another time zone and the problem went away!
Definite bug as resetting doesn't help. Please try to change your time zone to Amman and see if it happens to you too.

  • IOS 7 Calendar does not show appointments imported as VCS files in Microsoft Outlook / Exchange. Any solutions?

iOS 7 Calendar does not show appointments imported as VCS files in Microsoft Outlook / Exchange in Windows 7. I discovered this when downloading itinerary.vcs files from Delta to mark flights in my calendar. The work around I found is as follows:
Open the VCS file, this will create a Calendar entry in your Outlook,
Open the created Outlook Calendar entry, go to File -> Save As and then select to save as ICS file.
Delete original VCS-created appointment in your calendar to avoid multiple calendar.
    Open the re-saved ICS file.
Appointment will now correctly synchronize with your iPhone iOS 7 calendar.
If anyone has better alternatives to this process, please help out. Hopefully, Apple will fix this with the next iOS update.

  • If I have two appointments at the same time, they overlap in the iOS 7 calendar rather then appearing side-by-side so that I can't read one of them due to the identical colors of the two appointments.  Is there any way to fix this with a setting?

If I have two appointments at the same time, they overlap in the iOS 7 calendar rather than appearing side-by-side in the daily view, so that I can' read both of them due to the same background color.  Is there a way to change this via a settings change?

I fyou have "all day" event that are taking up the entire day, check the event. All day event only appear at the top of the time line (and just below the week view). I suspect they are not actually set up as all day, but have specific time frames assigned.
In teh screen shot below, "Sample" is an all day event; NFL: CAR@SF is not.

  • This is more of a complaint than a question. I hate the iOS 7 calendar. The view of my appointments is terrible. Is there anyway to have the old calendar setup back? Cathy

This is more of a complaint than a question. I hate the calendar in the new iOS 7. Is it possible to revert to the old calendar system?

We'll I can't comment on the South Park stuff but we are in agreement on the calendar. As mentioned by leonieDF and also by a friend I found a great app called Week Agenda Ultimate and it love it. It takes info from the iOS 7 calendar I hate and puts it in this app. It's perfect. For .99 cents you can't best it. Good luck!

  • IOS 7 Calendar Day View does not show any all-day events ?

    Hi,
I realize that iOS 7 Calendar Day View  does not show any all-day events.
    Is this a bug ?
Any help given is much appreciated.
    Thanks and Regards.

Mine brings me right up to the current time, or in the case of another day, it takes me to the first appointment of the day.

  • IOS 7 calendar all day events

Along with the other strange things in ios 7 calendar the notification "bug" is still confusing me.
As I work a set of 5 shifts on I input this into my calendar as an all day event commencing on my first day and finishing on the 5th. In iOS6 this worked fine and the notification showed correctly throughout the period. However in iOS7 notifications it doesnt. The first day doesnt showed as previously reported on this and many other forums but now I am on day 2 of a 5 day all day event and the notifications screen says I have no upcoming events.
Unless I am missing something this is absolutely stupid and effectively renders my calendar useless. Does anybody have an idea on what to do because this along with other weird things in ios7 is swaying me away from Apple.
I cant find a 3rd party app that will sync either on all my devices, ipad, iphone and Mac.
    Cheers.

  • HELP - Need to be able to RESET ALL CALENDARS to "FLOATING" - How To ???

These two quotes are from the Apple Forums - they never received an Answer - my problem is IDENTICAL to these gentlemen:
    "Hi all,
I'm just a guy who recently migrated from Palm Desktop and who doesn't like to be in Madrid, for example, only to see his Chicago appointments listed seven hours ahead. I've been managing time zones in my head my whole life and don't really need or want iCal to "help" me out with it.
That said, does anyone know of a script available or other method that will allow one to change all events in iCal to "floating"? I would prefer to not have to do this one event at a time.
Thanks much for your thoughts and insight.

I'm glad this topic is here, and sad that it hasn't generated any useful replies in almost 20 days! I really had to dig before I found this unanswered question!
I've posted my own - somewhat comparable - problem and possibly someone will notice and answer. My question, posted Sept 9, is entitled "Can I disable 'time zone' actions done by iCal?"
Back to me, Real Time, August 5th, 2007:
Does ANYONE have a solution for this? How to GLOABLLY set ALL EVENTS (or at least all events in a given Calendar) to FLOATING, including RETROACTIVELY all the way back to the very beginning of a Calendar (or even all of iCal) ???
    Perhaps an Automator Script???
    Help Please!!!
    Running:
    iCal 2.0.5, Powerbook G4, OS X 10.4.9
    Thanks!

Turning off Time Zones does not even remotely address the problem. All that does is solve the issue of not continuing to repeat the problem in the future. But at this moment I have literally HUNDREDS (perhaps thousands) of past event entries that need to be accessed for legal reasons, and the date / time is Critically Important..... and all the dates and times are fubar due to this time zone issue. Only resetting the events (PAST) to "Floating" resolves the problem, but how to do this with hundreds (1000's) of Past Events Entries?
i.e. How to Globally RESET all events to "Floating"?

  • IOS 7 calendar open to current date

Is there a setting to get Calendar in ios 7 to open to the current date. Mine seems hit or miss.  Thanks for any help.
    PK

This is not the solution, the answer is the description of the bug.
In OSX the calendar **ALWAYS** open in the current day. This makes sense.
IN IOS the calendar open in who knows what day. This not only fails to be useless, it is a time waster.
Please fix this bug and make it work in IOS as it does is OSX.
    Have a nice day,

  • Ios 7 calendar does not show events 2 years in the future

Why does ios 7 calendar does not show events 2 years in the future?
I've entered the events more than twice and it all shows up in the OSX calendar but not on my iphone.

Just tested it works even 3 years ahead.

  • IOS 7 calendar

Aside from sending a complaint to Apple, what can be done to convince the designers of the iOS 7 calendar to return to the more efficient month calendar view?!!!!! I can no longer, in one glance at the month view, get any information.  Just those dots!  Makes no sense and baffled how someone didn't ask the question, why would we make something LESS efficient?  I depend solely on that month view to plan events. Now, I have to go to EACH day view, see only part of the day at a time, or switch to the list view, etc., etc.  It's so painful. We are a family of 5 iPhones, MacBook Pro, iMac, and iPad. I'm losing trust in Apple and although I've never had anything but their products, I may be drawn to the other side by my brother who works for Microsoft. (No mention of battery life issues either...!). Please fix this someone out there!

Thanks for the responses about apps. Just stubborn of me, I guess I believe I shouldn't need an app to correct a now less efficient calendar.  And I don't know about anyone else, but the battery life is terrible - and then I'm using another app. I have gone everywhere online to address that issue; no luck.

  • IOS 7 Calendar not working properly

    Hi,
I can't get my iOS 7 calendar to respond to any commands... it opens, but everything is greyed out (i can navigate the app, but I can't execute anything).  My iCloud is working perfectly, and it syncs with my macbook pro, but my iPhone 4 calendar will not sync or allow me to create new events.  I can however sync successfully with third party apps like the sunrise calendar app for my iPhone.  My contacts and safari are also syncing just fine.
Believe it or not, I do want to be able to use the default calendar app.  I have tried all the usual solutions in the message boards, and nothing seems to work.  Does anyone have a solution?

No one is else is havinv this problem?  I'm shocked that no one has replied, not even from Apple.  I am still having this problem and am missing important emails in a timely fashion.  I am not getting emails that were sent 5 hours ago.  THere is something wrong here.  If anyone has any inkling of an idea, it would be much appreciated.
    Thanks
