IOS 5 can't connect to WPA/WPA2 Enterprise Wireless Network

After upgrading multiple iPhone 4 (CDMA versions) to IOS 5.0, I have not been able to get them to connect to our WPA/WPA2 Enterprise wirless network.  We use a Cisco Wireless LAN Controller.  The wireless network is capable of doing WPA or WPA2 Enterprise with PEAP.  These phones all connected to this network fine before the upgrade.
When connecteding to the network, it prompts me for the username and password and when I tap join it sits for about 10-15 seconds then says "Unable to join the network" with a Dismiss button.
It connects to non-Enterprise networks just fine.  I have tested it on WPA Personal and WPA2 Personal networks and it has worked on several without issue.
I have tried "forget this network" with no success.
Is anyone else having this problem?  I know of at least three Verizon iPhone 4's that have this exact same problem.  I haven't seen one working with this configuration yet.

I have the same problem:
Cisco WLC's -> WPA2 Enterprise AES + EAP-PEAP 802.1x with CCKM
Pre 5.0 - all worked fine
Post 5.0 - it tries to connect and after few moments i get error - couldn't connect.
Info from controller:

On the Radius server i don't see any activity regarding this device.
I had this network configured on my iPhone - after upgrade and restore it remembered it. Every time i was in vicinity of my Enterprise WLAN it tried to connect - resulting int express battery drain - 6-7 hrs and battery was empty from 100%

Try configuring your N97 with these instructions:
Since your WLAN network seems to require more advanced PEAP authentication settings you should probably create / edit appriate WLAN connection profile, known as (Internet) Access Point, manually in a following manner:
    1. Go to Tools -> Settings -> Connection -> Network Destinations
    2. Check if your earlier failed attempt to connect has already created an non-funtional IAP named as your WLAN network SSID (look for a entry named wpa.mcgill.ca) under "Internet" destination.
    3. If you can see existing IAP named as your WLAN SSID then you can Edit that one with necessary changes. (skip to 7.)
    4. If you don't see any existing IAPs that are named like your WLAN network then go to the desired "Destination" (e.g. Internet) and select Options -> Add Connection Method.
    5. Assuming you are in the coverage area of your WLAN network you can let phone "Automatically check for connection methods" (i.e. phone scans available WLAN networks) and you should be able to select the correct WLAN network name (wpa.mcgill.ca) from the list. Once you have selected the WLAN network your "Internet" Destination should now have been added with a new Access Point (IAP) that is named "wpa.mcgill.ca". Note that at this point the particular connection method is still incorrectly configured for your purposes (since by defaul it has EAP-SIM & EAP-AKA authentication methods enabled).
    6. Now you should manually Edit your newly created wpa.mcgill.ca Internet Access Point with necessary PEAP settings.
    7. Configure following WLAN and authentication settings:
"Connection name" defaults to name of your WLAN network (wpa.mcgill.ca) but you can also change this if you wish
    - "Data Bearer" naturally needs to be "Wireless LAN"
    - "WLAN network name" should match your WLAN network's name (SSID) exactly (wpa.mcgill.ca)
    - "Network status": Public
    - "WLAN network mode": Infrastructure
    - "WLAN Security mode": WPA/WPA2
=> Go to "WLAN security settings"
    - Ensure that "WPA/WPA2 mode is set to "EAP"
    - Leave "WPA-2 Only mode" to "OFF" unless you are absolutely sure that your WLAN network is configured to stricly pure WPA2 mode (i.e. network might be configured to support both WPA and WPA2 security thus enabling WPA-2 Only mode on the phone will cause all your connection attempts to fail).
=> Go to "EAP plug-in configuration"
    - Enable "EAP-PEAP" and make sure that "EAP-SIM" and "EAP-AKA" are disabled (via Options -> Disable)
=> Select "Configure" for EAP-PEAP authentication method
     - Leave "Personal Certificate" to "Not defined"
    - Select "Thawte Premium Server CA" to be used as an "Authority certificate"
    - Set "User name in use" to "User defined" (since there is no Personal Certificate where it could be read automatically)
    - Enter your username (McGill Username) to "Username" field
    - Set "Realm in use" to "User defined" and leave following "Realm" field empty.
    - Note that in case your username (McGill Username) contains the realm (i.e. format is username@realm ) then you can enter realm part of your ID to "Realm" field and enter only the username part to the "Username" field.
    - Configure "Allow PEAPv0" to Yes
    - Configure both "Allow PEAPv1" and "Allow PEAPv2" to "No"
=> Go to "EAP's" tab to configure inner authentication method for the PEAP (use the small arrow pointing right on top of the screen to move between tabs)
    - Enable "EAP-MSCHAPv2" authentication method and Disable all other methods (Option -> Enable / Disable)
    - Select "Edit" for the EAP-MSCHAPv2
    - Enter you username (McGill Username) to "User name" field
    - Configure "Prompt password" to No or Yes depending on whether you want your password to be prompted everytime you make an connection or if you prefer saving your password to following "Password" field permanenly so that it won't be prompted during everytime you connect to this WLAN network with PEAP/EAP-MSCHAPv2 authentication.
    - If you you selected "No" to password prompting then enter your password (McGill Password) to "Password" field.
=> Exit the configuration with "Back" (several times) and you should hopefully be able to connect with this setup.
If needed you can also change the priority order of the connection methods (IAP's) within the Internet Destination since your new connection most likely ended up being lowest priority WLAN connection within your Internet destination. This should however not be a problem unless you have some other WLAN networks defined as an IAP and these other WLAN networks are simultaneously available at the location of the wpa.mcgill.ca WLAN network.
Hope this helps you to get connected!!

  • Connecting to WPA/WPA2 Enterprise Network

I am trying to configure an Apple TV to connect to our corporate network. I have a service account in AD that I am using in the profile, have pointed to our cert and trusted it in the profile, selected WPA/WPA2 Enterprise, and selected PEAP as the 802.1X authentication. I have done this after going over the settings with our network security engineer. Everything looks correct. After installing the profile and connecting it to the TV, I can only get a 169.X.X.X address (should be our private WiFi network of 10.9.X.X. Has anyone successfuly done this?

This is a user to user help forum only so no one here knows what Apple is working on.

  • Can I connect a Macbook to a wireless network for PCs?

I would like to purchase a Macbook but I would like to figure out the extra costs before buying. I currently have a Dell Inspiron 600m notebook that connects to the linksys network in our house, can I connect a Macbook to the same network or is there another package I need to buy?

The other users may know more about this than I and dispute with me, but I can tell you from personal experience that sometimes there are problems. At this very moment, for example, I am at a buddy's house who has a wireless router hooked to his pc and my apple FIRST displayed one internet page and then flaked out on me. SECOND showed an airport signal but could not connect to any sites. THIRD showed no airport signal at all.
The solution is to plug directly to the router with an ethernet cable and it always works.
The other solution is to unplug the router for 30 seconds to reset it everytime you switch between a pc and a mac. The cable company gave me this handy solution which they claim is a constant necessity. BUT I have found it is in fact rarely needed at home where both pc and macs are running. But still sometimes I have to do it.
So if there is some pattern to all of this I cannot find it. But there is no "extra" hardware required, just some occasional software failures.

  • Wlc 5508: windows 8 can't connect using wpa+wpa2

    Dear All,
    I need your help.
My customer have Cisco WLC 5508 (cisco wlc 7.0.116.0) .
We create ssid with layer 2 security wpa+wpa2.
Using Windows 8, it's can't connect to the wireless lan.
But if I change, the ssid, with layer 2 security wep.
    It can connect / connected.
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Jerri

This is a known issue with Windows 8.  You need to upgrade your firmware to 7.0.250.X for wireless clients running Win8.
Another thing, choose one:  Either WPA or WPA2.  Don't enable one and "hope" the wireless client will make the choice because most of the time, they won't.

  • MacOSX 10.3.8 system with original Airport card can't connect via WPA/WPA2

    Hi all,
My WiFi network consists of an Airport Express running a WPA/WPA2 Personal network and 802.11b/g compatibility, upon which 3 Macs (all with Airport Extreme/G or /Draft-N cards) and 2 PCs (both G compatible) merrily connect to.
I have an old PowerMac G4 which I've just fitted with an original non-Extreme Airport card, and having updated MacOSX 10.3.8 with Airport 4.2 to enable WPA access, it still refuses to connect to the network; I get the "There was an error joining the Airport network ..." when the correct password is entered.
My understanding is that while the old Airport cards don't support WPA2, they do support WPA and thus if the Airport Express network is set to WPA/WPA2 and b/g compatibility (which I'm assuming is some kind of all encompassing compatibility mode, given there's also sole WPA2 options) then it shouldn't have any problems connecting to the network. What am I missing here?
    Cheers, Ben.

I am having the exact same problem. Powerbook G4; original factory installed airport card; with Panther 10.3.9 OS plus updated 4.2 Airport Admin. Utility. It will NOT connect to my Airport Express set to the WPA/WPA2, which is working fine with my iPod touch.
When I get to the screen requesting password for my chosen airport network ("Wireless Security: WPA Personal), the "OK" button is grayed out and it will not even let me submit a password to connect. Can somebody help?

  • Can't Connect Photosmart 7510 Printer to Wireless Network

This printer isn't new, but it's new for me (my mother gave it to me). However, I'm trying to set it up, and I can't get it to connect to a wireless network. When I go into the Wireless Network Setup on the printer, no networks are listed (even though several should be listed, mainly our home network). I tried entering the network information (name & password) manually, and it still didn't work. I've downloaded drivers and all, but I can't complete anything because while the printer is powered on, it's offline. I don't know if the drivers just don't work because I upgraded to Yosemite within the past few weeks (and the drivers are for the OS prior to that one), or what. I can't even begin printing because I'm dealing with this nonsense...

Did everything you said to do, and still had the same issue. The Wireless Network Test results say the following: WirelessWireless Working - FAILSignal Quality - Not Run ConnectivityConnected - Not RunDisconnect count total - 0Disconnect count (last hour) - 0Disconnect count (last 24 hours) - 0 NetworkNetwork Name (SSID) Found - Not RunOther networks detected matching your network name (SSID) - NoWireless Networks Detected - 0 SettingsPrinter Settings Consistent with Wireless Router Settings - Not RunNo Filtering - Not RunChannel - Not RunSecurity - Not Run

  • Can i connect the printer to a wireless network and a usb computer conneconnection at the same time

Can I connect my Officejet Pro 8600 by Usb and wireless at the same time, I have a very slow Network at this time.

    Hello gilldenc
To answer you question yes. You can have one computer attached via USB and to a wireless router at the same time. What router are you using? Is it your internet connection that is slow? Usually your internal home network is much faster than your internet speed.
Don't forgot to say thanks by giving "Kudos" to those that help solve your problems.

  • Can't Connect OfficeJet 7410 to new wireless network - used to work on old one

Hi, I'm on a Mac OS.  I just upgraded my wireless network to use an airport extreme.  I have a verizon fios router - same as I had when it used to connect.  The only change was adding the airport extreme.  Now, the officejet 7410 all-in-one will not connect to the wireless connect.  It SEES the name of the network, and asks me for a WEP Key, which it didn't used to do.  It used to ask me for the network password.  I found the WEP key on the router and it acts like it is trying to connect but takes a long time and then gives me an error.  One time it never gave me an error and seemed like it had worked, but was not connected.  It just gave up.
My configuration page indicates offline with no active connection and wireless status disconnected.
I restarted everything with no change.  I don't know why it would be asking me for a WEP key this time and then not accept it but that was the first indication that something was different when it didn't ask me for the network password.
Also, as a separate issue but related.  In trying to fix this, I deleted my drivers to reinstall and see if I started over that it would work.  That created another problem in that now it seems that HP no longer supports a driver for this printer.  Is that even possible?  It's not that old.  It says it does not exist on the software update.  Please help!

    Hi YSJA,
I'm sorry to hear you've had problems accessing your Officejet 7410 since adding the AirPort Extreme to your home network.
I have included a link to HP's Wireless Printing Center troubleshooting section. It has section, "Was anything changed or updated on your router recently?" that has detailed steps to help you resolve the issue.

  • WRT110 Can't connect MAC and PC to wireless network at the same time.

I installed a WRT110 router on my son-in-law's MAC sometime back and at the time configured it to have the MAC connected via Ethernet.  My PC laptop worked fine with it in the wireless mode.  Recently we changed the MAC to wireless newtworking and removed the Ehthernet connection.  Now if the MAC connects to the wireless network first and then I attempt to connect with my PC laptop the PC cannot find the network and the MAC loses connection.  If I shut my PC down the MAC will not find the network until it is put to sleep and reawakened.  If the MAC is put to sleep my PC wil immediately find the network. If I first connect my PC and then awaken the MAC both work fine.  I've checked all of the router's setup settings and they seem to be OK.  I am not MAC savvy and my son-in-law is a neophyte at computers so we are really helpless when something doesn't work.  Help will be appreciated.

I tried this setup change after reading another similar post.  It didn't help.  One thing I had wrong in the first post is that neither computer will connect to the wireless net after we experience the wireless failures until both are turned off, at least that is what happened after making the suggested changes.  Is this a WRT110 issue?  Seems there are quite a few posts similar to mine.

  • Can't connect to my company's wireless network after 10.6

I was connected when I upgraded, but as soon as it restarted I can't re-connect, or I do get connected and it says "No IP Address".
The network is a WPA network. I've removed it from the list of saved networks, deleted the com.apple.airport pref file and rebooted but it is not picking up the settings for the network correctly. When I change them to what I think are correct it still doesn't work.
Also, while in the Network pref pane It added the network as a 802.1x network, but when I click connect it just hangs.
A couple times it has connected but about 10 sec later an "!" appears over the indicator and then it keeps disconnecting/reconnecting.
    Any ideas?

Yup, I am having the same problem, I just assume go back to regular Leapord but that means a clean install and I don't really care to do that. The solutions seem rediculous, just wait and meaybe it will work after an hour? Really? Or restart my router, tried that and nothing. Changed the security to nothing and I still couldn't connect. This is redicuolous, Thanks Apple for your attempts to be like Microsoft and put out a crap product. To me, this is unacceptable. Beta testing should have identified the problem and they should have fixed it before release. Now, apparently, there are a bunch of users who have airport issues. If anyone has a real solution, please provide it, otherwise, Apple needs to get their, you-know-what together and fix the problem asap.

  • Can't connect Airport Express to existing wireless network!

I just got my new A Express. i try to wirelessly join an my existing network but when it restarts it doesn't see the device. It's i'm trying to set it up so that I can use it as a wireless printer connection for my two macbooks, but all i end up with is the flashing amber light. I've tried a hard reset and that's clearly not solving the problem.
i'd welcome some help as well.

for some reason i had a problem with my airport in my laptop and it couldnt find networks that are hidden.. so that might be the problem the encryption.

  • WPA/WPA2 Enterprise Support -  Please Apple PLEASE!

I have been searching through this discussion board and I have found many discussions like this one.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1106197&tstart=0
People who complain of not being prompted for a Username and Password for WiFi access are complaining of lack of WPA/WPA2 Enterprise Support for Apple's iPhone. Many college campuses, major workplaces and public libraries use WPA/WPA2 Enterprise support, which prompt you for a Username AND Password.
Why doesn't Apple's iPhone support one of the most common WiFi protocal's in today's world?
If Apple doesn't implement WPA/WPA2 Enterprise support, many people are going to look for alternative ways to connecting to a WPA/WPA2 Enterprise WiFi network with their iPhones. Example: hacking their iPhone and using a risky 3rd party application.
I STRONGLY recommend to Apple to get on this as soon as possible...
Does anyone know if Apple is working on this currently?
    Thank You!

  • Problem with connetction to wrt54g2 via wireless connection with WPA/WPA2 & wireless MAC filter

    Hello,
    I'm Alexey from Novosibirsk, Russia.
I have a problem with connection to wrt54g2 from my DELL D630 notebook via wireless connection. When I setup WPA/WPA2 in wireless security and wireless MAC filter I can't connect from notebook to WRT - in Windows I see that dynamic IP address from WRT is not assigned. When I switch off security mode to disable always OK, but I need a wireless security between DELL and WRT.
Connection via cable Ethernet port is OK.
    Can You help me?

Have you tried the different laptop...?
Download 1.71 MB the firmware for WRT54G2 v1 and reflash the router's firmware. After reflashing/upgrading the router's firmware, reset the router for 30 seconds and reconfigure the router from scratch.
