IOS 5 Contacts Call Bug

I am using my iPhone 4 with IOS 5 in Mozambique. All my contacts are stored using each of my friend's/client's country code (I have got people from the US, Brazil, Italy...). Anyone who calls me and is in Mozambqiue (therefore using country code +258) and that I have his number within my contact list, his name does not appear on the screen when he is calling me.
If that same person sends me a SMS, his name appears on the message screen. No problem. The bug exists when he tries to call me.
If a person within my contacts list calls me or sends me sms from abroad (a country other than Mozambique) than his name will appear both on the call information and on the sms screen. So, it seems ok when people are calling from abroad.
I did not have this bug with IOS 4 and I was using it on the same network and on the same iPhone as I am using now the IOS 5.
Is Apple working on fixing this error? I do not have this issue with my Blackberry.
Other than this error to be very annoying, I cannot understand how Apple did not detect it immediately when performing tests on IOS 5...

im afraid that they're gonna fall the reputation and efforts of Steven Paul Jobs.
im using itouch 4g, it came with iOS 4.1 firmware and it worked as the apple device would be, it never showed me loading thing.
whatever i opened either music nor 720p videos, it never lagged.
But with iOS 5.1 all the things in my iOS device are starting up after loading.
the world's best music device is now turned to ordinary one.
please apple wake up and hear your customers.
in scrolling music albums and in landscape orientation the album arts are loading like the ordinary devices.
after unlocking,the touch is not responding for a few seconds.
i never expeted this in apple.

I have indeed called Apple technical support. When I told the woman who took my call about the audio titles no longer appearing in video, she immediately tried to pin the blame on the video itself. She asked which video from the iTunes store gave me the problem. My reply was that I created the video myself - wrong answer! It must be that the video didn't meet the MP4 specifications, she told me. And she added that Apple can't support 3rd party videos. Ooh, good job, Apple technical support person; you just absolved Apple of all responsibility. Of course, she hated it when I told her that the video displayed audio titles with no problem in earlier IOS versions. In fact, I have the same video on an ipod touch 3rd generation (running IOS 4.3.5) that displays the audio titles perfectly, I told her. Her weak comeback was that she has no way of verifying what I'm telling her and that she can only troubleshoot when the videos come from iTunes. What a moron!!! I was tempted to tell her that the videos I make using Handbrake are of much better quality than what comes from iTunes, but I didn't want to get off track. And I have since confirmed that this problem affects Apple videos too from a post on another website. Maybe they have some good technical support people at Apple; but for the few times I called them on this and other issues, the people I spoke to were robotic in their responses and didn't seem to be in communication with the software designers who created the problems in the 1st place.
As for joining the Apple IOS Developer Program, I'm not sure I would feel comfortable with it since I'm not an IOS developer. I'm also irritated that a person would have more clout in reporting bugs as an IOS Developer than as a regular user. Since you're already part of this program, kevpan815, why don't you tell Apple how they're screwing up IOS with their updates and then report back here. I would be curious to know how they would respond.

No picture when contacts call.

When I call someone I get a little tiny picture that I assigned the contact up in the corner.
But when the contact calls me , no picture shows up.
I would like for their picture to take up the screen.
I have a iPhone 4. I am on iOS 7.1.2.

Bug Report: 5800 Contacts Ringtone bug

Hello,
I own a 5800 ExpressMusic and today I've upgraded my firmware version to latest. The problem I will explain still is not resolved.
The problem is re-producable and is very annoying. Follow these steps:
1- Change the ringing tone to some mp3
2- Edit a contact to have a name like ; )
3- Let that contact call you
The phone rings with the default tone (not the mp3 it was set to). The only way I found to correct it is to revert to more humanly names in contact list. This will be more annoying for people who save their friends with IM nicknames that contain lots of special characters.
PS: Is there any way I can bug report this to technical team right away?

Unable to use iMessage on Mac with non-IOS contact with Yosemite and IOS 8.1

I have an iPhone, an iPad running IOS 8.1, and a Mac running Yosemite. I have set up all 3 to use iMessage, entering the codes as requested. The 2 IOS devices work fine and the Mac works fine on messages to contacts with iPhones but non-IOS contacts remain red and are not accepted and if I try to send a group message with a non-IOS contact I get "XXX cannot be added to the group chat - XXX is not registered with iMessage". I have tried deleting and replacing the contact and it still will not accept her. I understood that this would be fixed after updating to Yosemite and IOS 8.1 but the upgrades have not resolved the problem for me.
In my Mac iMessage preferences:
1-I am signed in with my Apple ID and the account is enabled.
2-In the "You can be reached for messages at" field, I have my iPhone number, preceded by a +1 and the area code and 3 email addresses (icloud, me, and gmail)
3-in the "Start new conversations from" field, I have my cell phone number - also with a +1 and area code.
4-I have checked all of my Apple ID and iCloud details and they are all correct.
All other Handoff features appear to be working correctly. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks very much -

Hi,
It will suggest and look like it will auto-complete until you type further.
As 204 is unlikely to be the full number the issue does not arise.
For instance if I start typing my name every option that I have listed with my name over three Contacts card (for my three computers) and some Accounts not linked to Address Cards are listed
Of course this lists also shows cross connections between the accounts making the list longer.

You could check settings > mail contacts and calandars and see if there are any accounts (like icloud gmail yahoo) listed and if they have contacts on. Its possible if contacts were synced to one of these accounts that turning them back on will recover the missing contacts.

Ios 5 location bug ?

when you drop a pin it just gives you the general area no roads or anything,
i am wondering if this is a problem with google maps or with iOS5 or both

I have noticed the exact same issue. Since updating to iOS5 the maps app seems to not list the pin point position thus making the location based reminders very difficult to use.
I tested this with an iOS5 and an iOS4 device today and the iOS4 mapping gives street names and not just Johannesburg GP like on iOS5? See attached pictures with devices mapping at the same location?
I went into the Apple store in Sandton City on Thursday but the guy I spoke to simply said that it is a new operating system, and he would try and look into it? My problem is that if this is just a South African mapping iOS5 issue how long will it take to get resolved without being brought to the attention of the right people?

IPhone doesn't recognise contact calling without country prefix

All my contacts are saved with the country code prefix so that when I travel internationally I can dial my contacts directly. However, when I receive a call from one of my contacts calling without the country code prefix, the iPhone doesn't recognise the contact as the number calling. The only way it works is when I save the contact twice - once with and then without the country code prefix. Is there a fix for this?

You need to change your region settings accordingly in order to make this work. Numbers that do not work within the set region without the country code will be a headache. Why not put everyone with the right prefix? That way you won't have to worry about any of this ever again...
Here's what happens when you change region on a number that's not prefixed correctly:
For example, Austria is +43
05-1717 is the customer service hotline for the train network.
Now, if you have some other region set, like America for example, calling 05-1717 will go out as +1 057 171 7 and will error out accordingly.
For contacts and messaging:
Lets say their number is +41 76 593 65 00
But you have it saved as 076 593 65 00
The region set is America:
So +1 is implied, and being that that number is Swiss, your phone will not recognize it as the same person.
Because it sees the number as +1 076 593 6500.

When my contacts call me it shows unknown in caller ID

I have an iPhone 6, running 8.1.2, just lately when one of my contacts calls me it shows as unknown on caller ID. I changed nothing, all the numbers are correct, and it doen't do it for all my contacts, some it shows, some it doesn't. Just started doing this about 2 weeks ago, long after any software update, I changed no setting either, like I said not all contacts only some and not all the time on the same contact.

If someone who is listed in your contacts calls you, you will only see their name. This has nothing to do with the fact you're in Egypt. The only workaround I can see for this is to put the person's number in the name section of the contacts. In other words, put their first and last name in the first name section and their phone number in the last name section.

Suspend When Called Bug

I found a bug related to Suspend When Called VIs in LabVIEW 2009.

Basically, suspended VI input changes are ignored in suspend mode -- only the inputs that were set by the caller VI are used. This is different than in previous versions of LabVIEW.

Has there been any progress on this? Suspend when called is almost unusable with this issue.
It would appear that the problem is due to inappropriate optimization by the compiler during a suspend-when-called.
During normal operation, LabView re-uses the input data's buffers to store output data when it can. This improves performance and memory utilization, because in many cases it avoids calling a release() on one block of memory just to malloc() another chunk exactly the same size. When this occurs the operation (say, add 1 to each element of a 1024 point array) the computation is done in-place on the input array and the pointer passed to the output array. This violates dataflow but no one is looking :-) so it is ok. Next call, the bogus data in the buffers are wiped out by the caller's data. All is well.
But this optimization is inappropriate when suspend-when-called. Here the inputs and outputs MUST be kept in different buffers (different even from the caller's) so that the user can look at and possibly change them; also the user is allowed to run the VI as many times as desired. Sharing buffers leads to data corruption.
The attached example shows the problem. The subVI is designed make the optimizer extremely happy: it has the same data types at output as input, and the array doesn't change size. "Show buffer allocations" shows that compiler thinks it can re-use all the buffers. Run "RunMe.vi"; when the subVI suspends, keep hitting the run arrow: each time the VI is run, the values of the input array gets bigger and bigger!
There is a partial workaround, which is to place a "Always Copy" compiler hint (the "*" node) on the input wire; this will prevent the output-to-input corruption. You still cannot edit the input control on affected VIs.
(On the feature request side, it would be great if Suspend When Called would have some kind of indication as to whether it has been run or not. When you have half a dozen suspends on, it is hard to remember whether you have run it or not.)

Keynote for iOS Bullet Alignment Bug?

Does anyone know how to solve this issue:
Image bullets in Keynote for iOS have a bug related to vertical alignment of the image.
For the first line of text, the bullet image is correctly aligned in the vertical center of the line.
For all other lines, the bullet image is aligned towards the top of the line.
This is true regardless of whether I use the default image in iOS or import an OSX keynote document.

I kept trying things this weekend to fix this problem, and I FINALLY figured out what the common feature was, that was causing the misalignment of the bullets.
Line spacing.
If you apply line spacing BEFORE a paragraph, it misaligns the bullets... which is WHY it wasn't happening to the 1st bullet in each text box, but only those following....
In the final test I changed the line spacing attribute to AFTER a paragraph, and VOILA! no more misaligned bullets.
It's definitely a bug in the software, since either way it looks fine on the mac, and is only a problem on the iPad.

We are all users here. You are not talking to apple on these forums. There is no way anyone here can know the decision making process apple uses to determine what changes to make to the operating system. Also none of use care about which phone you might buy next.

Hi, it's maybe happening the same here!
I have an iphone 3gs. Since I did the upgrade to ios5, when I receive an sms with the notification of a missed call I am no longer able to see if it's coming from a number of my contact list, because in the sms the message correspondence for that contact underlines now the number PLUS the first 2 cifres of the date! So the number results always being 2 numbers longer and it's impossible get to the original.
That's really a major problem for me, as I'm no longer able to know who has called me, if someone I know (and who) or if a new number.
I add a capture to explain it better (I have banned a couple of cifres for privacy reasons).
Anyone solved the problem or can help please?
