IOS 5 Hotmail native support vs Exchange setup

Should I delete the current account setup and re-setup with the included, native option?

You will need to look in Apple's developer documentation
http://developer.apple.com/
or perhaps there is or will be an in depth review at Ars Technica

Does anyone know if iOS 7 has support for Exchange 2003?

All previous versions of iOS have had support for Exchange 2003.  Of course, more functionality is available with Exchange 2007/2010 support than 2003, but that's due to limitations in what the protocols support.

  • Will IOS 6 support viewing Exchange calendar attachments?

    Good day,
I use an iPhone in the workplace, and my calendar appointments always have attachments.  I can not view these attachments in IOS, yet on my old Android phone, I was able too.  I switched to the iPhone for the stability, however this is becoming a growing problem as more employees are getting iPhones and running across the same issue.
My question is quite simple, will IOS 6 support viewing Exchange calendar attachments?
    Thank you.

Our company is making the move from the BB to the iPhone. We've had iPad (3 series) issued to us for a little while now and that's been the biggest and really the only complaint. All of our schedule sheets for our Field Service Engineers are sent via attatchments. We can't see where we're going if we accept the appointment.
Is there a way to make this work? The Samsung's don't allow this either.

  • IOS 7 Exchange setup

I have the new iPhone 5S and have always had an exchange setup with our Google work email.  For some reason when I went from the 5 to the 5S it stoped working.  All it tells me over and over again is "Cannot connect to server"  I have my exchange setup like this:
Email address: my full email address  [email protected]
    Server: m.google.com
    Domain: left blank
Username: full email address again  [email protected]
Password: it is entered correctly (promise)
    Advanced Settings:
    Use SSL: on
    Deleted Mailbox: checked
    S/MIME: off
It still won't work.  However my other Exchange email works fine and it is setup the same just different email address.  this one uses a different domain name
    Help please

Yes I have it fixed...it's actually easier than I ever imagined..
remove your exchange and set it up on your phone using Google and just fill in your info..
YES it is that simple.  should work perfectly calendar contacts email...the whole thing.
Good luck although I don't think you'll need it.

  • Hotmail and Gmail as Exchanges

Hi, I have configured hotmail and gmail as exchange accounts so to sync or use my google contacts on my iPhone 4S (5.1.1).
Latetly when I try sending emails using gmail they are being sent via hotmail exchange instead of m.google.com. I don't remember until when this was working but was working atleast before 5.1.1.
Currently I have my hotmail account disabled/inactive (by switching off mail) to make my gmail work as it should be.
Will appritiate your help in addressing this issue.
I have deleted both accounts and setup from scratch one after another and issue still remains
    Thank you,
    Ravi.

    Try to remove Hotmail account
    *** Power off iPhone ***
    Power on iPhone
    Add Hotmail account and test.
I had the same exact problem after updating to iOS 5.1.1. I called into Apple Care (2-3 hrs) and went to the Genius Bar (2hrs). They all claimed it was my fault for forwarding email accounts. One suggested solution was to restore and setup as new, yet the problem still occured after I let them restore the iPhone. Some how I believe in iOS 5.1.1 the active sync is messed up. Everyone instead of taking ownership of the problem all says it's Hotmail's issue or Gmail's issue. Why is it not Apple's issue who wrote the code for iOS 5.1.1? Prior to v5.1.1 they didn't have a Hotmail (Exchange) setup. It was setup via smtp/mapi. The simple reboot inbetween adding/removing accounts works. (IMHO, this sounds like an Apple iOS issue to me.)

  • Disappointed by the support of Exchange by Lion Mail

    Hi,

I bought Lion because I wanted to have the same support of Exchange on my macbook as I have on my IPhone or my IPad...
Where did you read that Lion will have the same support of Exchange as the iPhone?
...but from yesterday I am not able to setup the Exchange account in Lion to have access to my emails.
MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.7)
Is this a new Macbook Air, the one that went on sale yesterday?  Or an older Macbook Air?
I use exactly the same settings as on my IPad...
If an older Macbook Air, did you have Mail configured to connect to Exchange previously, or is this the first time your trying?  Mail in OSX only works with Exchange 2007 or 2010.  iOS devices (iPhone, iPad) can connect to earlier versions of Exchange.  Microsoft added a different connection protocol to Exchange 2007, which is what Mail uses so that is why Mail only works with Exchange 2007 or 2010.
So if your Exchange server is 2000 or 2003, then you're out of luck.

  • Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 Migration and Architect a resilient and high availability exchange setup

    Hi,
I currently have a single Exchange 2010 Server that has all the roles supporting about 500 users. I plan to upgrade to 2013 and move to a four server HA Exchange setup (a CAS array with 2 Server as CAS servers  and one DAG with 2 mailbox Servers). My
goal is to plan out the transition in steps with no downtime. Email is most critical with my company.
Exchange 2010 is running SP3 on a Windows Server 2010 and a Separate Server as archive. In the new setup, rather than having a separate server for archiving, I am just going to put that on a separate partition.
Here is what I have planned so far.
    1. Build out four Servers. 2 CAS and 2 Mailbox Servers. Mailbox Servers have 4 partitions each. One for OS. Second for DB. Third for Logs and Fourth for Archives.
    2. Prepare AD for exchange 2013.
    3. Install Exchange roles. CAS on two servers and mailbox on 2 servers. Add a DAG. Someone had suggested to me to use an odd number so 3 or 5. Is that a requirement?
    4. I am using a third party load balancer for CAS array instead of NLB so I will be setting up that.
    5. Do post install to ready up the new CAS. While doing this, can i use the same parameters as assigned on exchange 2010 like can i use the webmail URL for outlook anywhere, OAB etc.
    6. Once this is done. I plan to move a few mailboxes as test to the new mailbox servers or DAG.
    7. Testing outlook setups on new servers. inbound and outbound email tests.
once this is done, I can migrate over and point all my MX records to the new servers.
Please let me know your thoughts and what am I missing. I like to solidify a flowchart of all steps that I need to do before I start the migration.
thank you for your help in advance

    Hi,
okay, you can use 4 virtual servers. But there is no need to deploy dedicated server roles (CAS + MBX). It is better to deploy multi-role Exchange servers, also virtual! You could install 2 multi-role servers and if the company growths, install another multi-role,
and so on. It's much more simpler, better and less expensive.
CAS-Array is only an Active Directory object, nothing more. The load balancer controls the sessions on which CAS the user will terminate. You can read more at
http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2014/03/05/load-balancing-in-exchange-2013.aspx Also there is no session affinity required.
First, build the complete Exchange 2013 architecture. High availability for your data is a DAG and for your CAS you use a load balancer.

  • Calendar event notes entered in IOS do not sync to exchange

I have a user who just upgraded to an iphone 6.  When he creates a calendar entry in Outlook, (using exchange with ActiveSync) the entry shows on his iphone.  If he creates an entry on his iphone and fills in the Title, Location, and the Notes within that event, and saves it (press Done), the notes do not sync to Outlook but the event (date, time, title, location) does.
    - we have removed the calendar and re-added it.  not fixed.
    - we have double-checked the username/e-mail to ensure it is entered exactly as it appears in exchange (all lower case letters)
    - we have confirmed his exchange settings are the same as users who have this working for them.
This was working correctly with his 4s a couple days ago.

    Afternoon All,
This seemed to start on the 23rd Sept but I didn't raise it with apple support (8th Oct) since I thought it was just me.
I tried a lot more steps than listed above to try and sort this one and on different devices too (iPad Mini, Air, 4s, 5s, 5, Exchange 2003, 2010, 2013, Server 2008 R2 & 2012/2012R2 just for kicks) with no effect whatsoever.
After going through enough web-chat / phone eventually they wanted to charge to speak to enterprise support as Exchange Activesync is an enterprise product.
    Still not working in 8.1.1.
    Works fine on iOS 7
I've given up adding calendar notes on the iOS devices, even with the workaround it's a pain!

  • IDSM2 on 6500-IOS inline mode support?

    Hi,
I have an IDSM-2 running IPS5.1(1d) software (recently upgraded from 4.x) that is sitting on a 6500 IOS.
The IPS device manager shows gi0/7 and gi0/8 as both in Promiscuous mode. There is no option to change the mode to inline and pair them.
Is it so that IDSM-2 currently supports only Promiscuous mode?
If so, then this module is still acting as an IDS despite running IPS5.1. Isn't it? What is the advantage that I get after upgrading it from 4.x to 5.1?
    -- Vasanth

There are 2 pieces to the puzzle.
There is the IDSM-2 version and what it supports, but also the Cat 6K Native IOS version and what it supports.
    IDSM-2 v5.1(1d) supports
    a) Promiscuous mode,
    b) InLine Interface Pair mode (2 interfaces are paired for inline monitoring), and also
    c) InLine Vlan Pair mode (2 vlans on a single interface are paired for inline monitoring, you will also see it called inline-on-a-stick)
But for these features to be used, the switch code must also support configuring the switch side of the IDSM-2 for each of these 3 features.
Native IOS Versions prior to 12.2(18)SXE will support only Promiscuous mode on the IDSM-2.
12.2(18)SXE and later versions will support InLine Interface Pair mode on the IDSM-2.
No Native IOS versions currently support InLine Vlan Pair mode on the IDSM-2 (a new Native IOS versions with this support is currently in development).
So to get Inline (IPS) functionality you need to be running a Native IOS version 12.2(18)SXE or later, and on the IDSM-2 run IPS versions 5.1 (or even the older 5.0).
(NOTE: Cat OS 8.5(1) does support all 3 modes of the IDSM-2. So if you are using Cat OS instead of Native IOS, then run version 8.5(1) to have access to all of the features of IPS 5.1(1) on the IDSM-2)
If you are running a Native IOS version prior to 12.2(18)SXE then the IDSM-2 can only be operated in Promiscuous mode even if 5.1(1) is loaded on the IDSM-2.
However, even in promiscuous mode the IPS 5.1(1) software does have a few advantages.
There are several engines, and engine parameters that are only supported in the 5.1 version and not the 4.0 version. So there are several signatures that are either a) not even created for 4.x sensors, or b) the 4.x signature is not as precise as the 5.x signature in the new engines.
(These new engines have proved invaluable in writing signatures to detect some of the new attacks that have come out over the past year.)
There are of course other advantages as well:
    For example:
    1) Risk Rating to better aid in prioritization of alerts.
    2) More flexible fitlering mechanism for alerts that allows for fitlering individual actions
The 2 features above are just 2 of the new features that have been added in 5.0 and 5.1 that apply to both promiscuous and inline modes.

  • Sierra Wireless driver for native support for 10.5 displays wrong network

Anyone getting the wrong wireless network with the Sierra Wireless driver for native support in Leopard? Sometimes when my AT&T 881u cannot connect, the mini card starts displaying Verizon information. This only happens once every couple of weeks. AT&T says its Sierra Wireless' problem and Sierra says the issue is Apple's.
I took a picture of the issue with my iPhone. I'll post a link as soon as I get a chance to sync.
This card normally works great, but this issue is really strange since AT&T G3 network shouldn't be compatible with Verizon's EVDO.

That model is included in the hpijs and ESP ghostscript driver set:
    http://www.linuxprinting.org/macosx/hpijs/
When you get that installed, come back with print server model for setup help. Since there isn't auto setup software for OS X, we need to setup all the details.

  • Why is not Windows 8 natively supported on MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2010)?

    Hello,
Can somebody from apple say why they don't add native support of Windows 8 for MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2010) when it is supported on 15-inch model?
    Looking in: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5634
I know that Windows 8 is possible to install and use, but I think it does not make sense to limiting just 13-inch model in bootcamp
    Thanks

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
It's a restriction, because the Mid 2010 13-inch MacBook Pro is completely compatible with Windows 8 (it meets all its requirements), but Apple didn't want to provide Windows 8 Boot Camp drivers for it. You can run Windows 8 if you want, but it won't work properly.
Apart from that, there are some how-to's in the Internet in order to install Windows 8 Boot Camp drivers in unsupported Macs

    Gulab,
Where did you read that WMF3 is supported on Exchange 2010 SP3 on Server 2008 R2?
Neither of the links you pasted suggest that and in fact explicitly say "There has been no testing with ExchangeServer 2010 SP3 and WMF 3.0 installed on Windows Server 2008 R2."

  • Database encryption supported in Exchange 2013?

    hi,
    according to this:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998022(v=exchg.80).aspx
MS doesn't support storing Exchange databases on  EFS volumes.
Is the recommendation the same for Exchange 2013?
Is there any support for encrypting databases in an Exchange 2013 environment other than in transit traffic?
    Thanks,

    Windows BitLocker (volume encryption)
Windows BitLocker is a data protection feature in Windows Server 2008. BitLocker protects against data theft or exposure on computers that are lost or stolen, and it offers more secure data deletion when computers are decommissioned.
Supported: All Exchange database and log files.
Supported: All Exchange database and log files. Windows failover clusters require Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 and the following hotfix:

  • Is smb 3.0 already supported for exchange 2013

    Hello,
We are looking to deploy exchange 2013. We have a netapp storage and vmware environment.
I was wondering if smb 3.0 is already supported for exchange 2013. I read in a blog of 2012 that it wasn't supported at the time. We would like to use it instead of a iscsi lun.

    Hi,
Based on my knowledge, it is still not supported for Exchange 2013 up to now.
Here is an article for your reference, please refer to the "Exchange storage requirements" section.

  • Exchange setup via local address

    Hi Folks
Am trying to setup an iPad2 so that it connects to our exchange server locally via wifi. am trying to avoid it using proxy and external sites.
Has anyone managed to set one up this way as im struggling to get the exchange account setup to work. I can use safari and connect to the local address fine though which is odd?
    thanks

    Thanks for the reply
Its a wifi only model and its connecting to my windows 2008 r2 domain wireless network, we want to avoid using the proxy and letting the user have access to the web. Hence why were trying to configure it to use the local address for our exchange server. As i previously said, that address works via safari yet the mail exchange setup doesnt accept it.
    cheers
