IOS 5 IM SO EXCITED

Did apple really put over 200 new features on iOS 5 : )  I wonder they put dynamic icon and more custom theme background and lock screen like movin wallpaper

Don't hold your breath on animated wallpapers.  Animated wallpapers (animated .GIF files basically) require CPU usage to 'play' the animation when the phone can be busy snoozin' (read saving battery life) for when you really need it.  Apple pushes the limits of technology to extend battery life, and they push the limits of logic in coming up with ways of conserving battery life by being a bit more conservative about eye candy like an animated wallpaper.
And yes... I'm excited too, (just short of loss of urinary control) about all the new features.
And yes... 200 is the typical magic number for new features on a major update.  Most of which are not show stoppers, but they generally have about 10 or so of those (as was debuted at the last WWDC plus whatever handful of additions that'll probably crop up with the next gen iPhone).
And yes... I'm equally excited about the cool new additions that are coming down the pike, especially (for me) wifi syncing (YAIS!!)  and snapping a photo from my phone just to go home and find out it's sitting on my computer already without doing anything!   iMessage, which should give BBM a run for it's money, and the entire push to reduce reliance on a computer for managing the phone.

  • Please be patient w/ iOS 7 download today.

As iOS 7 is an exciting new os, millions are trying to do the same download today.
Please be patient when attempting to get it. I know, the servers are most likely getting hammered and only able to allow so many connections.
Go have another cup of coffee.
    All is well.

Thanks, not that anyone will read it, but yes, patience is a good thing

  • I have a problem with iTunes Match...

...and not like an 'oh man, this bolt's too big for this hole' problem, more of a 'hey man, if you don't stop doing that then you and me gona have a problem' problem.
For starters, I found that enabling the iTunes Match service means that I can't manually synch any files or playlists to my device.  So when I travel to an area without wifi or phone signal, which happens more than Apple obviously thinks, I can't listen to any of my music. Whose bright idea was that??!
Secondly, when I do enable iTunes Match, I often find that changes I make on my computer (shuffling the order of songs on playlists, adding new files to my library etc.) don't always correlate with the Match service, for instance I made a playlist on my computer but it doesn't appear on my phone, or I set a playlist on iTunes to order itself by the date the files were added, but on my phone they appear in whatever order they **** well please.  It unfortunately doesn't 'just work'.
And thirdly, although this isn't really connected to the Match service but rather just a chance for me to vent as I'm already doing it, when I heard they were bringing 'wifi synching' to iOS I was really excited. Then I found out it would only synch while your iDevices were plugged in and charging.  THEN I found out that every time I plugged my phone in it would automatically try to synch, waking up my laptop if it wasn't already awake. So every night I would plug my phone in by my bed, turn over to go to sleep, then have to get up 20 seconds later to re-sleep my machine; this could happen at random points during the night.
I'm not expecting Apple to change their products over the dissatisfaction of one disgruntled user, I'm just wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same problems and has found any ways around them.  Also I must say as annoying as certain aspects of iTunes Match are, it's still a fantastic service (in theory...).

I hope they manage to fix the playlists issue, hopefully by the next couple of updates.  I figured the syncing/waking thing would be what it was meant to do.  I wonder if there's a command line or something I can tweak in settings to stop my Mac waking on LAN/Bluetooth etc....
In System Prefs > Energy Saver > Power Adapter unselect the option for "wake for network access." Although this may have the effect of preventing wireless syncing. I'm not sure.

The downloading of songs is pretty much useless as a feature in my situation, as by the time you're out of signal and can't stream music, neither can you download it (and if I were expected to download it first in case of signal loss then doesn't that negate the need for a streaming music service anyway?!)
iTunes Match doesn't stream to iOS devices, all songs are downloaded. If you have not done so, you can enable "use cellular data" to download music by going to Settings > Store and setting the option to ON. To answer your question, though, yes, pre-downloading of tracks is the "best practice" for using an iDevice with iTunes Match enabled.

  • IPhone 5s iOS 8.1.2 turning off at random battery percents?

For Christmas i was lucky enough to receive and iPhone 5s, upgrading from my 2 year old iPhone 4s which had a terrible battery life and numerous other glitches. All excited on Christmas day i restored my brand new iPhone 5s from the back up of my old iPhone 4s, then on that very day, my phone died at 55%, tried turning it back on and it indicated that i needed to plug it into a charger. i waited a minute, tried turning it back on, and it worked, showing that it had 53% left? so i continued to use my new phone, i was playing music out load and using Facebook messenger, then again it suddenly died, this time at 48%, tried the same method mentioned previously with the exact same result.
Searching the internet for possible solutions, i tried a "DFU Restore". DFU stands for device firmware update. This did not provide any fix to the battery issue, the following day it suddenly shut down at 60%. I again tried a "DFU Restore" only this time i did not restore it from a backup, the first DFU "Restore" i restored it from the backup of the phone, the second time i didn't wondering if the issue was related to the backup. The second time worked, at least for a few days, then again it suddenly shut down with plenty of percent left.
    In Summary:
My Brand new iPhone 5s with the latest iOS is randomly shutting down with plenty of percent left and then requires either charging to turn back on OR wait a minute or so and it will be able to be turned back on, only for the same thing to happen a minute later.
I do not think my phone is incorrectly reading the battery level as it seems to be used at a normal rate.
    I have Tried:
    Restore
    "DFU Restore"
Draining battery to 0% and charging to 100%
    Verbally abusing my iPhone
All with no fix to my problem
I am asking for advice, what else should i do? is their a fix that i don't know of? should i replace the battery? i don't know what else to do....

You should get your phone checked by visiting an Authorized Apple Service Provider or Apple Store next to your place.
You can also contact Apple Support and talk to them. They can check the battery online, visit this page to do that:
iPhone - Contact Support - Apple Support
Click on Apple Support, then on ->Battery, Power &Charging ->Battery questions and troubleshooting, and follow the instructions.

  • 3G Signal Loss after upgrading to ios 4.0.1 ?

    Hello Everyone,
I don't think that I am the only one with a 3GS that is having this problem. I have the iphone 3GS, I was very excited to upgrade to ios 4.0. Once the upgrade was complete everything was just fine. Then came along ios 4.0.1, I figured why not. Isn't that what you are supposed to do to keep you phone up to date. Well, ever since I upgraded to ios 4.0.1 I have lost my 3G signal. My wife's phone is the exact same model, purchased at the exact same time. She is still running ios 4.0 and not having any problems. I spoke with Apple Care today and they said that ios 4.0.1 was in no way going to affect the 3G signal strength. Now, if I take my phone and my wife's phone and hold them side by side. She will have full signal and I might have one bar. Then when I go to safari and try to load a web page. Her phone,(with 5 bars) will download twice as fast as mine.
Is there any way for me to go back to ios 4.0?
Thanks Apple for fixing all of the iphone4 problems and creating one on the 3GS and then not acknowledging it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Demi

THERE IS A GROWING AND VERY STRONG DISTASTE AT THE LACK OF SUPPORT AND INTERVENTION BY APPLE IN HELPING THE MANY THOUSANDS OF PAYING CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE PURCHASED IPHONES AND FIND THEY ARE NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE.
I AM HAPPY TO INVOLVE THE BBC IN THE UK AND OTHER MEDIA SOURCES TO HAVE APPLE SIT UP AND TAKE NOTICE OF THE NUMBER OF DISSATISFIED CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE PAID LARGE SUMS OF HARD EARNED MONEY FOR A PHONE CAPABILITY THAT IS DISGRACEFULLY BAD. LIKE MANY OTHERS THE IPHONE CAN BE PLACED ALONGSIDE OTHER COMPETITOR'S DEVICES WHO HAVE CONTINUALLY GOOD AND CONSTANT SIGNAL STRENGTH WHILST THE IPHONE SHOWS NONE.
ON A PERSONAL BASIS THIS PHONE HAS CAUSED ME TO LOSE OUT ON A NUMBER OF SIGNIFICANT PHONE CALLS, SOME INVOLVING THE DEMISE OF A RELATIVE - MATTERS THAT CAN NEVER BE REPLACED. AND YET THE ISSUES REMAIN.
PLEASE, ANYONE, FEEL FREE TO EMAIL ME ON [email protected] WITH CONSTRUCTIVE COMMENTS ABOUT THE POOR QUALITY OF THE PRODUCT (IPHONE 4 OR 3GS) AND THE EXTENT TO WHICH THIS MATTER HAS BEEN OCCURRING AND THE IMPACT IT HAS HAD ON YOU EITHER DOMESTICALLY OR IN BUSINESS. I AM LEAD TO BELIEVE THAT THE FAULT DOES NOT LIE WITH THE NETWORK BEARERS, BUT IN THE APPLE IPHONE DEVICES THEMSELVES
I CANNOT PROMISE TO DO ANYTHING OTHER THAN COLLATE THE EVIDENCE THAT IS COMING IN FROM SO MANY SOURCES AND PROVIDE IT TO THE MEDIA GIANTS THAT MAY CAUSE APPLE TO DO SOMETHING. FRANKLY I THINK ALL THE DEVICES SHOULD BE REPLACED WITH ONES THAT ARE FIT FOR PURPOSE OR REFUNDS GIVEN. PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR VIEW ON THIS IF WRITING TO ME. THANKS,
THANK YOU FOR READING THUS FAR. JDMCB

  • ITunes 11.3.1(2) (on Mavericks 10.9.4) crashing on sync with iPhone 5S (iOS 7.1.2)

    Hi Apple Community
I recently excitedly upgraded my early 2011 MacBook Pro from OS X Lion to OS X Mavericks but have been experiencing troubles with iTunes since.
When I connect my iPhone 5S (iOS 7.1.2) it opens up in iTunes as normal, but when I hit 'Sync' in the music or podcasts tab, iTunes instantly crashes. Somehow, between the crashing, although iTunes has refused to do a positive or 'additive' sync (if we think of it as adding new content), it has managed to 'negatively' sync in that it has removed all the audio content that was on my iPhone.
So now I am completely music-less and podcast-less, and my commute *****!
I don't have the technical knowledge to make sense of the crash reports, but what I do know is this:
    - The Crash Thread number is variable i.e. is different each time
    - The Exception Type is always EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION (SIGILL)
    - The Exception Codes are always: 0x0000000000000001, 0x0000000000000000
    - The Crash Threads itself is actually identical each time, as is the accompanying error code (although I don't actually know what they mean...):
    Example A)

    Steps taken so far:
    - I started by restarting iTunes and restarting my MacBook
    - When this didn't work, I backed up my iPhone, wiped it, and restored it
    - This didn't work either, so I kept searching and I read elsewhere in the Apple Forum to go into the Library and delete the iTunes preference files: I trashed com.apple.iTunes.secure.plist and com.apple.airport.opproam.plist (because I thought this might be connected to com.apple.AirTrafficHost, which appears in the crash threads)
    BUT ALAS! To no avail.
    Can anyone help?
I would have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes too, but can't figure out how to do this as it's integral to Mavericks and I'm not advanced enough to know how to bypass the protection on it.
Am I going to have to resort to wiping my Mac and reinstalling Mavericks? I'm not vehemently opposed to doing this, but just perplexed and frustrated at having so much difficulty with the newest Mac OS, the newest version of iTunes and the newest iOS.... (or at least, the newest available to the general UK public). Besides, I just did this whole process to go from Lion to Mavericks and it's a total faff.
Out of interest, does anyone know what the above code is? If a code at all? Or is it a programming language? How can I learn to interpret and manipulate it for myself?
MASSIVE THANKS to anyone who has actually read all the way through this post!
And even bigger thanks to anyone who is willing to offer their input

For how long have you been receiving this error message? The initial run on the iOS 5 update should be over and the activation server should be up and running right now. So there may be a problem on your end, such as firewall settings. This article offers some suggestions: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1275

  • Can't upgrade iOS 4.3.3 to iOS 5.1 on iPad

I'm trying to help a technophobe friend update her iPad from 4.3.3 to 5.1. She's done no upgrades to her iOS since getting her iPad. I've done each of mine seamlessly. I am completely perplexed and haven't found an answer to our dilemma since we embarked on this quest. To make it more challenging for me, she has a PC so I'm in foreign territory working on her computer. She also hasn't turned on her laptop in the year she's had her iPad so we had to update iTunes. That part went fine.
We ended up syncing her iPad about three times so all of her apps and music are up to date on the PC and the iPad. The update of the of the iOS appeared to work each time. It took the 89 minutes it predicted at the start. The update message says it's 5.1 and it says it will install after downloading. We have now gone through this process FOUR times. That's a lot of hours for nothing. The last time we actually babysat the process. It was as exciting as watching paint dry. It appeared to flow fine concluded in front of our eyes. The ipad switched to the wallpaper screen and had a small tone. The Apple came back to the top iTunes banner. Then NOTHING. I checked Settings>General>About and it still said Version 4.3.3. We uncounted the iPad, turned it off and powered it up again and it is still on 4.3.3.
    What are we doing wrong?
Her iPad is the Verizon model and I saw in one thread that said there are three varieties of upgrades but I don't know how to verify the right one is downloading from iTunes. I would hope the iTunes connection can detect which version is needed.
I also found on the Apple website the list of four upgrades she neglected before 5.1. It indicates those older updates are available in iTunes but I can't figure out where to get to them. The Upgrade button goes right to the 5.1 version. I'm wondering if there are components in those incremental updates that she needs before 5.1 will work, or does 5.1 install everything she's missed along the way?
Any help or insight on this frustrating situation will be appreciated.

I solved this problem with detective work and hints from another discussion thread. I detailed my solution here on the 3 April 2012 entry of the following thread:
iOS 5.1 won't upgrade my iPod & iPad 2 on my newer mac, but it will install perfectly to my sisters same model iPod using an old windows laptop in the same internet connection in the same house

    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3787478?start=45&tstart=0
Perhaps someone else is struggling with the same roadblock. You cannot jump from 4.3.3 to 5.0 or beyond over a wireless connection. You must be plugged in with an ethernet connection to your internet. After 5.0 you can update OTA, translation Over The Air.
I don't know if the OP (Original Poster) was trying to do it wirelessly with a Mac, but in my case it had nothing to do with being on a PC or Mac (with the exception of me being in foreign territory in her house and on her PC - MacLoyal, I am) and everything to do with not having a wired connection to the net.

  • I have an iPod touch 32gb 3rd gen (model A1318) and am unable to update it to iOS5.  When I try, I have to update iTunes first, and when I do that, it will no longer recognize my iPod (so I can't update the iOS).  Help?

If it matters, I'm using a PC that's still running Windows XP, but this isn't my first rodeo, and I know both how to use the software and what applications are and aren't compatible with my computer.
I searched the web for answers, most of which amounted to a shrug and a "Meh."  I called Apple support, who took a couple days to look into it, then had a supervisor call me back.  His response, essentially, was a shrug and a "meh."  So I'm kinda stuck.  Any help you folks could give me would be much appreciated.
In addition, I've been reading a fair amount on how iOS 5 will cause a whole host of problems with the 32gb 3rd gen touch... is this true?  And has Apple resolved it, or are they essentially force-retiring this model?

    Dear Re_trace,
Don't you feel cheated and conned by this product. I am 50 years old and from what you write I can see you know a lot more about your computer than I do about mine. Additionally I live in southern Africa (in fact I live in one and work in another, neither of which appear on the drop down list when you start looking at asking Apple directly for help) and feel they shouldn't allow people to sell their products here (I bought it in a shop that sells i-Macs etc. - not off a guy on a street corner!)if they can't offer support.
I have just been going from error code to another, losing my music that took me hours and hours to install and catalogue/modify in the library etc. and now I've had enough of it.
Essentially it seems to me we have bought faulty products, and made Apple richer than Microsoft in the process.
I'm turningmy back on this bloody iPod Touch, giving it to my son to see if he has the ability and interest to get it working, and if he hasn't I'm just goinbg to have to sell it to a sucker who also wants to buy into the dream, until he wakes up to the reality of shoddy product. hours in front of a computer screen, a fortune in downloads (here I only have about 5 to 10 kb per second download speed), trawling the internet looking for people than have also suffered at the hands of an obviously fatally-flawed system.where every time Apple just recommends to install the latest version of iTunes.
I for one would rather have my money and my wasted time back............
I know I didn't help, but really I don't have any axe to grind against Apple, it's just that the hype in no way lives up to the reality. Look at all the people begging for anwers to their problems on this web-site! I know the shop in Mozambique won't give me my money back, but Apple should, and if Ford sold cars as reliable as these iPods, they'd be banned from selling them........
Or am I just too old to realie how exciting it is internettingf all over th eplace to try to fix what is actually an inferior Walkman........
Good luck solving your problem, and I hope you think that all the effort you are putting in (and which I have now given up putting in), is worth it.
    Hope you solve ht eproblems!

  • I have a nano and want to transfer my music from it to my new iPad. Unfortunately upon the excitement of setting up my new iPad I created a new apple Id and now cannot sync. Can I do it another way. Step by step pls I'm technologically challenged!

I have a nano and want to transfer my music to my new iPad, in all the excitement of setting up my iPad I created a new apple Id and now I can't sync my music!
Can someone please advise if there is a way to transfer my music to my iPad manually? If so, please detail step by step, as I am technologically challenged! Thanks in anticipation.

You can search within your music folder on your pc, or within documents folder for a music folder.
In any case, you would need to sync with itunes

If the music was purchased from the itunes store, you can also download it directly from there to the ipad.

  • IPhone 5 Slow After iOS 8 Update

Just like many Apple users I was eagerly awaiting the newest software update from Apple's iOS. I've owned several Apple products in the past and every update has worked perfectly fine. I take care of my electronics and am very careful with my memory usage, so I am able to get the best performance and very little decay with usage. As most users know and expect, our beloved computers tend to "slow down" with time. Sadly this wasn't the case with iOS 8. I know that my iPhone is in optimal performance because due to some hardware issue Apple gave me a NEW PHONE a week before the new software update came out. My older iPhone 5 was working great and had almost no issues regarding software before I turned it in, once I got the new one everything ran just as fluid and even better! I was excited to download the new iOS. I was so careful I even updated my iOS through my Macbook because I didn't want to risk losing any of the precious memory on my portable device. Sadly ever since I downloaded iOS 8 and installed it onto my phone I have had nothing but issues. My phone is laggy and freezes with certain tasks. I have noticed a significant drop in performance ever since the update. This shocked me because Apple updates are usually pretty good. Apple computers know how to "take care" of themselves for the most part. That is why the updates were so important. I can't wait to get an update from Apple addressing all these performance issues, because quite frankly guys... your iOS 8 performs just like what one would expect from a BETA version. At least on the iPhone 5.
I have been an Apple fan for a while and have purchased Apple products because of their reliability. Not just because of the precious items and care that goes into each hardware, but because of the elements that makes Apple unique. You're UI used to leave me without a complaint. It always has been something to brag about and not only with my phone, but also with my Macbook. Each update had something better. It's innovative and simple, beautiful, and user friendly. Sadly this is the only time I've been let down by Apple. I wish I could go back to iOS 7, because clearly the new iOS is not ready... Hope you guys come out with an update soon.
I don't pretend to know everything about computers, but I do understand how most of them work. Also I know that with effort I could go back to iOS 7 on my phone, but in all honesty I don't want to because I'm not the type to go back once something "better" and newer is released. I expect more from Apple in the new future.
FYI I'm posting this mainly for Apple to take notice of my discontent and also as user feedback for them to keep improving and hopefully have some impact with future products that Apple comes out with.

Thanks for the quick response ,
it did help alot and now the iphone works much much better and faster.
can you please try to figure out how to fix the messages search so it work fine
its give me now result maximum up to 3 days old
    thanks friend

  • Iphone 5 and IOS 6.0.2 is draining my battery! (new thread)

Well, apparently Apple doesn't want us to talk about this -- They locked the previous forum I had created after 217 posts and 16k views?
I'll assume there is some other Apple Forums rule that I don't know about that would cause them to do that instead of trying to stifle the reporting of this problem?  It was clearly generating many posts that show a correlation between IOS6.0.2 and battery issues.
To summarize... I was having significant WiFi issues on all my apple products (several Iphone 4's and and Ipad2) with 6.0.1 - all the same issues that have been reported on these forums thousands of times.  I was excited to see 6.0.2, hoping it would correct the wifi issues for my iPhone5, at least. Unfortunately, not only did it NOT correct my wifi issues, but now my battery is draining about 5x compared to before.  I can barely get through a day of batterly life with minimal usage whereas before 6.0.2 I was easily able to go 2+ days.
An apple representative called me today (actually he tried very hard to call me for several days.)  I was appreciative of the reachout (saw my other post) and was hopeful they would be willing to help me.  The guys was very nice, but it truly felt like he was reading a script and was more interested in getting information from me.  The only advice he ad for me was to back up my phone and then reset it to factory settings (like new) without using any of my previous apps, mail, etc.  He wanted me to do this "for a day or two" to test it and see if the problem persists.  Then, if the problem is gone, we can work together to restore apps/settings one-by-one until we find why the problem is there.  In other words, they have no idea what is causing this problem, and they want to use my time to help them figure it out.
Ironically, I was able to watch my battery indicator drop several percentage points while I was on the phone with him for about 20 minutes.
When he asked if I would do the restore and/or load profile software on my iphone to track my usage, I said no.  I shared with him I'm simply out of time and energy -- I have logged over 40 hours trying to debug these wifi issues (I'm somewhat tech savvy and figured I could just plow my way through to a solution with my router/security settings.)  When I realized that these issues are all IOS driven, and now the battery issues, I find I've had enough.
Maybe I'll go return this Iphone5 and ask for a replacement.  However, I'm also seeing other posts saying that did not solve their problems.
We are talking about wifi and battery life.  This is not new technology.
If IOS 6.1 doesn't correct these issues, it's probably time to buy an Android.
Please keep posting things directly relevant to BATTERY issues with iPhone5 so that this thread can stay on task and bring to light the correlation between 6.0.2 and the battery.  Maybe Apple will care about their loyal customers, acknowledge the issue, and let us know how much longer we should wait for 6.1 to fix the issue before it's too late and they start losing their fan base.  No information from Apple is only exasperating the problem.

I had the same experience with a new iPhone 5 that I bought  last week. Did not have a chance to measure battery life before the 6.0.2 upgrade installed but I set up my phone exactly like my 4S and immediately started running out of power after short periods. Went to Xmas get together with fully charged 5 and 4S. Heading home the iPhone 5 shut down for low battery and the 4S had 65% power. Both phones had two half phone calls on then and no data usage.
That night I fully charged the iPhone 5 and, without lighting it up, put it on my night table. Next morning I picked it up and looked at battery indicator and I had 42% charge with NO activity!
Tried it again next night and wound up with 37% charge. (Slept longer).
Today I called the carrier and reactivated the 4S.  Took the 5 to Apple Store and they kindly gave me choice of new replacement phone or refund. I took the refund. Uniquely, the Apple Store said it was Verizon CDMA phones that were coming back.
The are other strings on this with temporary solutions, but from my experience with 7 firmware changes on an HTC 4G phone the problem will continue because the solution will be hardware caused. We are in the days where RTM means Rush to Market - not Release To Manufacturing.
I fear the only solution is to either wait for the next model (I did not notice a really major change in performance over the 4S in LTE heavy Seattle area) - or switch to another manufacturer.
It might be useful for these forums to indicate if you have a GSM or CDMA phone to see which have more problems.
    Discouraged....

  • First Generation ipad stuck on ios 5.1.1. I am not able to update to a newer version because it believes the Ipad is at its most update version.

    Hello all,
My mother in law has recently acquired a new ipad and has given me her first generation ipad. Very excited! I have run into an issue though... The ipad is unable to update to the newest version of ios and is stuck on ios 5.1.1. Whether I plug the ipad in or try to update via wifi, it prompts me that it is running on the most up to date version.
Has anyone seen this problem before? Can anyone help me fix the issue?
    Thanks,
    Luke

But ya thanks sooo much for your sarcasm! *inserts sarcasm right back atcha!
@krehetin - yep sounds like were both in the same boat =S fortunatly i guess at least i know now thanks to illaass and ya guess well have to get the new one to get siri! Its no wonder the white 4g's were reduced down to 189.00 last xmas >_<" had i known i would have waited!
I got a new flash for ya:  No where before, during, or after the upgrade did the installer application display any message stating that Siri would be installed on your device.  I know this because I upgraded my 4th gen iPod Touch and my iPhone 4 to iOS 6.
And FYI, I was not being sarcastic, I was telling you the honest unvarnished truth.  There have been hundreds, if not thousands of people just like you who for one reason or another were either misinformed, or mistakenly believed that Siri would be installed on any device that could be upgraded to iOS 6.
What troubles me the most about this whole situation is that Apple included numerous disclaimers to the contrary in all of its announcements concerning iOS 6, and yet when members of this community pointed out those disclaimers, we were called liars or told that the disclaimers were in error.
If you care to take the time, look back through the community archives and search for messages regarding the confusion surrounding the release of the white 4th generation Touch.  Everyone (and this included several vendors) thought these devices were 5th generation iPods, when in fact they were just 4th gens with a white bezel. Apparently this was a repeat of a previous fiasco regarding the 8 gig "3rg gen" Touch (Which by the way was actually a 2nd gen being sold as a 3rg gen.).
Sadly, neither Apple nor the myriad Apple centric web sites, blogs, or main stream media outlets did anything to correct that situation, speculation and rumors ran rampant, and as we have all seen it snowballed and got out of control.
Unfortunately you and others like you are all victims of that hype.
With that being said, I would highly recommend that instead of believing every Tom, Dick, and Harry that uploads to You Tube, or posts their mindless drivel to the blog-o-sphere,  do your own research. Educate yourself.  Find out what goes into making the technology that we love to hate do the wondrous things we take for granted. Hopefully, with a little understanding, you won't get caught up in all of the hype and be carried along with the ignorant mob again.

  • My iPhone 4 (GSM) is terrible to use after iOS 7 update?

I was so excited for iOS 7 ... In fact, I checked for an available update every other second. After getting said update my phone was amazing at first (IT FELT LIKE A NEW PHONE)!
-Now I've started to notice that my keyboard will simply stop working leaving me not even wanting to text anymore.
-My favorite apps (Even those "optimized" for iOS 7 force close all the time).
-I will be using my iPhone and even though the battery is completely full the Apple logo will pop up unexpectedly (Kinda like how it does when it's booting up) and won't turn back on for like 5 minutes.
-Sometimes I'll lock my iPhone and the screen will refuse to turn on no matter what buttons I press so I'll have to put it in recovery mode which for some reason gets it to turn back on.
-My Facetime calls will end unexpectedly.
-My phone got super hot on iOS 6 (and now it gets even hotter on iOS 7) even when I'm not using it.
-Do not disturb will be DISABLED and my volume will be up all the way.. But I still won't hear that I am getting a call or message. Push notifications are enabled so I'm stumped on that one.
-My reception will legit go away and not come back forever even though I usually have all 5 bars on iOS 6.
-While dialing a call the other person will sound fine but they always tell me that I'm echoing and stuff.
-All of my favorite apps take 5 times longer to start up.. But don't waste any time to force close when they finally do start.
-My WiFi will disconnect all the time and makes me use A LOT of 3G data
-Even when I am on 3G knowingly my iPhone uses 10 times more data with regular everyday use. Browsing Facebook for 5 minutes uses just over half a gigabyte.
-Most of the songs in my music library have no album artwork at all... No matter how many times I try syncing it to iTunes.
-I will screenshot stuff and it won't save to camera roll until I screenshot it like seven times.
-My phone tells me I am in different countries sometimes??
-My battery lasts approximately 45 minutes.
Look.. I know my phone is old and all that other stuff. But I'm just a teen and I worked hard to purchase this phone. I just want it to work and I can't afford to buy a newer 4s/5/5c/or 5s. I just don't have that kind of money. Overall the design is amazing and I really like it (I would just really appreciate some bugfixes or something).
    Thanks in advance

I have factory reset my phone twice.. I have disabled iCloud settings.. I looked up possible downgrading options.. which isn't possible. I feel as if my iPhone 4 was offered the update so I was forced to get another phone
