Ios 5  messed up the iTunes on the iPad 2!

It made a few cool new features but its not worth it to me. Any chance they will fix it?

One issue I have with the new iTunes on iPad is that now if I want to listen to, say, all Coldplay songs, I can still select the group under 'artist' and all albums will appear, but the option to "play all songs" has been removed. I enjoy being able to choose an artist and shuffle through their songs. It sounds like a minor issue but any time functionality is removed it is a problem. I do not like having to create a playlist whenever I want to listen to multiple songs by one artist.
This did not change on iPhone.

How do I update my iOS? I have the iPad 1 and have tried over and over to try and update the iOS version to iOS 5.1, nothing works it will start updating then say that it did not update? PLEASE HELP!!! P.s I'm running newest version of iTunes.

Connect your iPad to your computer and let iTunes back up your iPad. After it does that disconnect it and go into your settings under general and under reset and select erase all content. After you do that reconnect to your computer, open iTunes and follow the screen options to set up your iPad as new. Once it is done doing that see if you have the latest version of iOS installed and if it does then either download gain the apps you had before or restore them from the backup made previous.

  • IOS 5 used to allow Airplay between iPad (WiFi) and Apple TV (Ethernet) as long as they were on the same network. In iOS 6, now both the iPad and the Apple TV have to be on the same network and both have to be connected using WiFi ? Why did they change ?

iOS 5 used to allow Airplay between iPad (WiFi) and Apple TV (Ethernet) as long as they were on the same network, i.e. connected to the same wired/wireless router. In iOS 6, now both the iPad and the Apple TV have to be on the same network and both have to be connected using WiFi ? Why did they change this ? Means that the iPad and the Apple TV box both have to be in range of the wireless router when this wasn't a restriction before. Apple TV could be anywhere as long as it was connected to the same wireless router via ethernet cable. Seems like an unnecessary thing to restrict.

I have found with AppleTV that it is the IPV6 on the computer you want to access is the problem.  The issue is that Homegroup on Win 7 or Win 8 requires IPV6 to work, but AppleTV won't work with IPV6.  (So maybe double check you have IPV6 turned off)
So you have to make a choice - Homegroup or AppleTV.... but you can't have both, until Apple brings ATV up to date. (crazy that it does not recognise IPV6 - c'mon Apple!)
You can set up sharing individually in Win 7 or 8 and have the ATV access files that way.
Having said that, there is always the exception.. I have an old HP home server running Win8 and it services ATV - but is part of the Homegroup... have no idea why it works on both, but no other machine on the home network will talk to both ATV and Homegroup at the same time!

  • When is the iOS 7 coming on the ipad 2

When is the iOS 7 coming on the ipad 2

It doesn't even mean that Apple will announce a release date for iOS 7 tomorrow, though that would seem probable. The only thing we know right now, though, is that Apple is holding a press event tomorrow, 9/10. What Apple will say is unknown. We'll just have to wait and see.

  • HT4859 I turned off my iPad during the process of restoring it, will this mess up the iPad or my apps?

I turned off my iPad during the process of restoring it, will this mess up the iPad or my apps?

If you turned it off in the process of doing a full restore, yes.  If you turned it off in the process of restoring it from an iCloud backup, it depends.  You may be able to turn it on and resume the restore; otherwise you'll have to restore from the backup again.

  • Is there going to be an iOS 6 update for the iPad 1. If not, why

  • IOS 6 messed up the sound

I recently upgraded the operating system on my ipad2 to ios 6. Now the sounds will not work on keyboard, alerts, etc. Only music works. I have checked the settings and I should have sound. What do I do?

    Applesawyer,
    Try my sound-fix checklist:
Lateral Switch: must be 'UP' (not showing a red mark)
Volume All UP at the lateral buttons (press and hold the upper part until it indicates full in the screen)
** optional ** maybe your lateral switch is used to lock the rotation of the screen... you need to 'unmute' the sound in the taskbar.  Read "Understand the Lateral Switch":http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085
    Close all the running Apps
    Reboot (restart) the iPad
Watch this video [1min 40sec], it shows all the steps:
    http://youtu.be/FjBP-Ncj_fE
The first two are frequent solutions (people accidentally switch to mute or forget to unmute / put and forget volume all down). The 4th and 5th fixes cases in which the audio system is messed up - it happens quite often when games or sound apps crashes.
If you didn't get sound from the first 3 steps (unmute & volume up), it is important to do both 4 and 5: close all apps and reboot.  Just closing apps alone or simply rebooting sometimes is not enough. Do both.
EXTRA STEP: there are people reporting they could only fix sound by inserting a headphone plug and removing again.
    Hope it helps

  • When will iCal and Mail on the Mac work as well with exchange as their IOS counterparts do on the iPad?

To get mail to access my exchange email I have to use a private smtp server  as the passing in the settings for our actual exchnage server have never worked.  But that does at least work.  With iCal I have never been able to access my exchange calendar.  It accepts the login and appears to connect but the calendar can never be refreshed so is non-functional.
Contrast that to my iPad where I just put in my email user and pwd (for the same account as above) and both mail and calendar are fully functional (or at least so far). This is appearently due to cal and mail on iPad using OWA for everything but fetching mail.  Why oh why is this approach not taken on the mac?

    John Galloway wrote:
OK, I'll bite.  What are these "full desktop" facilities that you don't get on the iPad?  (I have been using email for as long as its been around pretty much, but just started using email/cal on the iPad).
You're still missing the point.  The iPad uses the same code for the mail and calander apps as the iPhone.  So the code was already baked in when the iPad was released.  Thus "simple" to have the iPad connect to Exchange 2003.  Apple didn't start supporting Exchange the the OSX apps until after that and for whatever reason, decided to only go with the Exchange 2007 protocols.  Different programs and different capabilities.
I have never seen the innards of OSX Mail or IOS Mail
Not necessary to see the code for the apps specifically.  But if you've ever written any apps, particularly under a large bureaucratic environment where there are many cooks in the kitchen, you'd know what I meant when I said "...What you think can be "carried over" is a substantial rewrite to Mail and iCal.  I'm not saying it's not possible, just that it ain't as simple as you think...."
What Apple product is competing with exchange server for email?  Sure you can run an email service on OSX...
You've just answered the question.  Apple does sell a email server product and they did have MobileMe, soon to be iCloud.  Exchange is a competing product.
...but there is pretty much 0 corporate presence of Apple servers (servers not clients) as far as I know.  And sure exchange 2003 is old hat, but what percentage of clients still connect to one?
And you know that "zero" figure for sure?  Like you know for certain exactly how many (or little) Exchange 2003 servers are still in use?  I never said that there were NO Exchange 2003 servers in use.  (I have a client still on one, so I know for a fact that it is not zero.)  My point was that Apple made a decision whether to spend the time, $$$ nd effort to add in an additional feature to their existing Mail and iCal OSX apps, which uses a different protocol, to a competing product, that is not a new product and is more than one version out and that already has a specific EOL date from the manufacturer (April 2014.)  Again, I specifically state that it's not a technical reason that it can't be done.  But if you don't understand that it's more likely to be that someone saw the ROI wasn't there, then you likely will never understand.
(You will, of course, want the last word.  Please go ahead.  I have already given you answers, regardless of your acceptance of their correctness.)

  • Why is there no iOS 6 update for the iPad 1?

Does anyone know why the original iPad can't be updated with iOS 6?

The decision to support the 3GS instead of the iPad (which has a faster processor) has been open to wide debate. General consensus has been that the iPad is no longer sold, whereas the 3GS still is. However many people, especially developers, have stated that although the iPad has superior hardware, its hardware is still proportionally weaker than the 3GS. The iPad has more than quadruple the pixels to power than the 3GS, yet still uses the same graphics processor. The iPad also has the same amount of RAM, 256 MB, which in proportion to its screen resolution, is hardly enough. The only hardware advantage the iPad has is a faster processor. However, the processor is not enough to make up for the lack of RAM and graphics power. As a result, there have been numerous complaints on the performance of iOS 5 on the iPad. The 3GS, on the other hand, had generally positive reviews of smooth performance on iOS 5 (some even claim better performance), making it still a good candidate for iOS 6. Last week, Apple announced that they will no longer be selling and supporting the iPhone 3GS, therefore meaning iOS 6 will be the final iOS to support the 3GS.

  • Where is the built-in iOS world clock on the iPad?

i have an iTouch and i use the built-in iOS world clock, alarm, stopwatch, and timer app often.  i want it on my iPad 1 with iOS5.  why can't i find it anywhere or why isn't it just part of the base system?  lucas

Well, I am sorry; that is a deal breaker for me, at least concerning the iPad.  I have been using the itouch for a few years and I program Xcode for ios.  My job gave me this iPad to test and frankly I wanted the base itouch apps and then some.  There is absolutely no reason why apple can not extend those base apps to iPad interface, especially since it is the same os and object model.  Even my students agree that these base apps are best on the itouch.  So what does it take to convince apple to extend these base apps to the iPad?

  • I was told this morning that the iPhone 5 has iOS 6.0.2 , the iPad 3 only has iOS 6.0.1 , WHY ? They are the SAME system ,iPhone 4s , iPhone 5 ,iPad 3 , iPad 4 ALL THE SAME

I was told this morning that iPhone 5 , now has iOS 6.0.2 , WHY does iPad 3 ,iPad 4 ,ONLY have iOS 6.0.1 , when there're the same systems ??

The iPad Mini also has iOS 6.0.2. The update corrects a wifi problem on the Mini and iPhone 5.

  • I just bought an ipad and when I tried to update itunes ios and I pluged the ipad into my computer and opened itunes.  It started to install and then said there was an error, now my ipad has a screen the has the usb cable and the itunes logo on the front

I can't open my ipad now.  It is stuck with the picture of the usb cord and the itunes logo on the front.

    Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

  • Google  is a total mess on the iPad

The website is horrible and the app is worse. There's so many things wrong with it I can't take the time here to completely describe everything that is wrong. But navigation is horribly unintuitive. There are google plus reviews of businesses, but no search tool on the page, only a list of a few businesses when you hit the Local icon. I wrote a review on a business page and published it to the public. It didn't go on the business page, it only got listed under my reviews
There are no links to the classic or desktop version on most pages. And when you find a page that does have the link, the next thing you select puts you right back in the mobile version of the web page and it's worthless- hardly has any of the stuff that the real page has.
The app is ridiculous. It shouldn't even be called Google+, all it has is the rolling public blabs, you can't get to hardly anything except that.
Google Plus is one of the worst websites I've ever been on using an iPad.
The one useful thing (reviews of businesses) is just a clunky mess, and it's actually very useful as there are a lot of reviews,  but it's so hard to use and unintuitive, and the navigation tools using an iPad are almost non-existent.

This mostly just to let iPad users know that Google Plus is not iPad friendly, so maybe they wouldn't waste their time.  Maybe it is misplaced though. If I could delete it I probably would.
Why can't you delete it? Do you know how?

  • What changes does iOS 7 bring to the iPad?

I just swung by the Apple site, and noticed the information about the upcoming iOS7 update. But all the information I see seems to be focused on all the nifty things iPhones are getting, with nothing said about iPad-specific changes. Is there any information available?

All that is known publicly can be found at:
