Ios 5 on ipod 1st generation?

Hiya. I would like to download some apps, but it always says that my ipod needs to download ios 5 or ios4.3 on my ipod touch 1st generation. I would really like to download this ios 5, but I don't know how. I hope it is able to be downloaded on ipod touch 1st generation. I am a happy customer and I love my ipod, I just want to be able to have some apps. Please make it possible to download ios 5 on my ipod 1st generation. I don't think it is fair that people with the ipod touch 1st generation cannot download the ios 5. If this could please be downloaded on the older generation ipod I would be a even happier customer. Apart form this I am happy with everything else on Apple. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

The 1st generation can not be upgraded beyond iOS 3.1.3
The 2nd generation can not be upgraded beyond iOS 4.2.1

can 1st generation ipod touch be updated IOS 5.0 or later?  Thx

Correct. If you have compatible versions of them on a computer or in a backup, you can load them into an iTunes library and then sync them to the iPod touch.

i locked my Ipod 1st generation in zombie farm went to the toilet came back tried to unlock it but i cant screen was blank i have tried everything please help

If you have tried everything, then by definition, there is nothing else to try.
Perhaps if you explained what you tried someone can help.
If you have actually tried everything, then there is nothing anyone can do to help.
    Did you try reset?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable (not necessary if using same cable that works for other devices)
    - Try on another computer (not necessary since other iOS devices connect.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod 1st generation not recognized on mac

Why can't I get any help with my iPod 1st generation? I DO NOT BELIEVE this is just a coincidence that my old iPod stopped working the minute I installed the newest iTunes. I have talked to apple and they say that it is my old ipod which is no longer under warranty. Are they kidding? Do they think I'm just going to go out and buy a new iPod?

I have downloaded the Shuffle Reset Utility but it
does not recognized my iPod. I have switch USB ports
numerous times. restarted my computer numerous times
and had an online chat with an agent at Apple that
lasted about 4 hours and I still can't get my iPod to
    work.
I had no problems with my ipod until I downlaoded the
new itunes. My Shuffle 1st generation is 18 months
old and no longer under warranty. Am I supposed to
buy a new iPod everytime Apple updates their software?
Given that the warraty ran out on it 6 months ago, and you appear to not have extended it through AppleCare, you're out of luck UNLESS you can resucitate your Shuffle.
ALL Of the things you've stated as having done don't include enough detail to let anyone HERE help you. Grousing about a dead Shuffle isn't giving us much of a foundation to work on.
NOW, does it charge (front LED lights orange) while plugged into a USB port? IF NOT, does it charge in a USB port on another computer? IF NOT... it D e a D.

  • Ipod 1st generation no sound

any ideas how to fix an ipod 1st generation. all works fine but no sound from the earphones(no external speakers)

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.
    Apple - iPod Repair price
A third-party place like the following will replace the jack for less. Google for more.
iPhone Repair, Service & Parts: iPod Touch, iPad, MacBook Pro Screens
    Replace the jack yourself
I is likely not worth it to get the iPod fixed.

After you set up your service use your repair ID to track your replacement here:

Remember: You will receive a replacement unit approximately 6 weeks after Apple gets your current iPod nano
    Hope this helps.

Same model, with same capacity. Only certain serial numbers qualify. If your iPod is registerred, you should have received an email from Apple.

  • IPod 1st Generation Logic Board

    Hi!
My 5GB iPod 1st Generation's logic board finally gave out. I'm having trouble locating a replacement board. Does anyone know where to get a new or used one other than iFixit (out of stock)? I need one just like iFixit's: Complete with the firewire port, and a not chipped headphone jack.
Thank you and I greatly appreciate it.
    -Brian Skorski

    Brian,
I may be in the same boat as you and I did Google 1st gen logic boards and didn't find much, except for WLM. They are pretty high. I thought maybe they would be cheaper for the really old ipods.
I wrote a post about my own 1st gen 10gb ipod on how my dome imac no longer reads my ipod but yet it charges the battery. I replaced the battery on mine after it died thinking it would fix everything but it didn't. ipod plays music just fine, but i can no longer load anymore new music to it. So I checked into replacement logic boards. If I do not purchase a new logic board, I'll probably just buy a new ipod (I want to anyway)

Try uninstalling iTunes 10.5 and installing iTunes 10.4. It has worked for others.

  • How can i update my ipod 1st generation from IOS 4.2.1 to 5.0

how can i update my ipod from IOS 4.2.1 to 5.0

Update it from iTunes on a computer as described at the bottom of this article; there isn't a Software Update option in General on iOS versions prior to 5.0. It can only be updated directly to the newest iOS release supported by the device’s hardware.
The maximum iOS version for the first generation iPod touch and original iPhone is 3.1.3.
The maximum iOS version for the second generation iPod touch and the iPhone 3G is 4.2.1.
The maximum iOS version for the third generation iPod touch and original iPad is 5.1.1.
The maximum iOS version for the fourth generation iPod touch and iPhone 3GS is 6.1.6.
