IOS 5 OTA update server and/or port?

Does somebody know iOS 5 OTA update server and/or port for iOS updates?

I had this problem too, you probably have Restictions enabled on your iPhone.
Go to Settings>General>Restrictions Then Disable Restrictions. This should enable both iCloud and Twitter.
When you are finished with iCloud you can Enable Restrictions again.
Good luck

I forgot my password and am trying to reset my ipod, but it won't work.It says that my ipod is in recovery mode and that I must restore it. I click ok, and then click on restore and update. Then it says connecting ipod software update server and a screen pops up with ipod software update on the top and iOS 5.1. It lists a bunch of stuff this update contains and on the bottom it says next, which I click and nothing happens, it just goes back to the ipod restore page. Help, what am I doing wrong?

This device is not eligible for the requested build (Also sometimes displayed as an "error 3194")
Update to the latest version of iTunes. Mac OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard) users may need to download iTunes 10.6.3.
Third-party security software or router security settings can also cause this issue. To resolve this, followTroubleshooting security software issues.
Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to performunauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. Uninstall the unauthorized modification software from the computer.
Edit out the "gs.apple.com" redirect from your hosts file, and then restart the computer for the host file changes to take affect. For steps to edit the Hosts file and allow iTunes to communicate with the update server, see iTunes: Troubleshooting iTunes Store on your computer, iPhone, iPad, or iPod—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you do not uninstall the unauthorized modification software prior to editing the hosts file, that software may automatically modify the hosts file again on restart.
Avoid using an older or modified .ipsw file. Try moving the current .ipsw file (see Advanced Steps > Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw) below for file locations), or try restoring in a new user to ensure that iTunes downloads a new .ipsw.

  • Internal update server and flash player 12

We've been using an internal update server and a deployed mms.cfg to point internal client machines to a local webserver hosting Flash Player updates extracted from the background update .cab file, as detailed in the Administration Guide.
This has been working well for Windows & OS X clients.
For Flash Player 12, I've created a "12" folder at the same level as the 11 folder:
    https://servername.domain/pub/flashplayer/update/current/sau/12/xml/version.xml
However, clients (that are currently running 11) are looking for:
    https://servername.domain/pub/flashplayer/update/current/sau/11/xml/version.xml
So I copied the "12" folder to the "11" folder and manually triggered the scheduled task on a couple of clients and they've grabbed the newer version (except for the plugin-based browser, which haven't updated and are still using 11.9.*).
    My flashinstall.log shows the following:

    My questions:
    1) Is this the expected method for getting version 11 to upgrade to 12 without much intervention?
    2) What's triggering the error codes - the hack-ish way I've forced the update, or something else?
    3) What knock-on effects will the Flash Player version renumbering have on the local webserver deployment method?  And is it documented anywhere?
    Thanks

    Hi Maria,
The rest of the install log is below and it does install the plugin later and the log is clean of errors thereafter.
I created "12" because the previous install guide noted that the folder should be named for the major version and I assumed that guidance still held (though thinking about it you've abandoned that distinction with the recent re-numbering).
    Thanks

  • Software Update Server and iTunes

I just got the task of reorganizing our haphazardly organized Apple client-server structure. I plan on implementing a software update server and using ARD to push out updates to clients.
Is there a way to control iTunes to stop its self update queries to the iTunes website without touching every machine and turning it off for every admin user? I've been looking for some kind of preference key that would either disable the autoupdates or point iTunes to use the Software Update server that I could push down with workgroup manager, but haven't been able to find one yet.

  • HT201210 IOS software update server could not be contacted...what does this mean?

Cannot update IPhone 4S using iTunes. Error says IOS update server could not be contacted. So how do I update my iPhone? I do not have access to WiFi.

    Hey there silky5!
Here is an article that describes your issue, and can guide you through some helpful troubleshooting steps for this issue:
iTunes for Windows: iTunes can't contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server

If you haven’t already seen this article, you mentioned that you are unable to access Wi-Fi from your iPhone, and this would be the relevant article to guide you through troubleshooting if you are still experiencing this issue:

  • IOS OTA update failed, now iPad wants to restore, but that fails too

After successfully doing the iOS 5.0.1 update on my iPhone via OTA, I started the process with my iPad2. After a while it appeared to have stalled, but I had to go out, so I left it, assuming it would be done when I got back. As it turns out, when I returned my iPad was asking to be connected to iTunes via USB. When connected, I got the message that it needed to be restored...
So, I've now tried restoring it about 4 times - the progress bar on the iPad gets about 2/3 of the way and then stalls for a long time, and then I get a message in iTunes that the restore didn't work. I've disconnected all other USB devices. I've rebooted my iMac. My iMac is fully up to date (OS, iTunes, etc)
Any ideas what I can do to get my iPad restored so I can then restore from backup and retry the iOS update (connected to the iMac this time)?
    Thanks,
    Scott

I sure disagree with the journanlists reporting Over The Air Updates working well.
We all have different experiences. I had the issue that you report when I upgraded to iOS 5. I eventually had to put my iPad in recovery mode to get the upgrade to complete. I did not have any issue with the iOS 5.0.1 update. I did not use OTA, I used USB, so my Mac downloaded the entire 750 MB iOS file and I was still updated in less than 10 minutes. The OTA update should normally also be about 10 minutes as the file is a 50 MB incremental update. I do not think that many folks had your issue because we are not being swamped by reports of the issue here in the ASC as we would be if the issue was widespread. So the journalists seem to have it right, it appears to have gone smoothly for most folks, however they updated.

  • 10.5.8 Server Software Update Server and 10.6.4 clients getting error

I’m running Software Update Server on an Intel XServe 10.5.8 OS.
When I try to run software update from 10.6.4 client I get the following error:
+The Software Update Server (su.MYSERVERNAME.org) is not responding.+
+Check to make sure your network connection is operating normally. If there are no issues with your connection, contact your network administrator for assistance.+
In Workgroup Manager I’ve set up 3 groups: Tiger Clients, Leopard Clients, and Snow Leopard Clients.
In Workgroup manager I’ve set each groups SUS to the corresponding sucatalog.
    Tiger Clients
    'http://su.MYSERVERNAME.org:8088/index.sucatalog'
    Leopard Clients
    'http://su.biggerhammer.org:8088/index-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog'
    Snow Leopard Clients
    'http://su.MYSERVERNAME.org:8088/index-leopard-snowleopard.merged-1.sucatalog'
I’ve read multiple threads trying to sort this out.
I’ve set each group up according to the managed clients instructions in this article. I’m led to believe this should work with 10.5.8 as well.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4069
Any ideas where this is going wrong?
Or are there any additional steps needed to tell the 10.5.8 server how to serve to 10.6.4 SU clients?
    Thanks!

I have seen this behavior when trying to modify the default certificate. It will not allow the key length to changed from 1024 to 2048. However, when creating a completely new certificate I have never had this issue.

    Try some basic troubleshooting:
    (A) Try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    (B) Try reset all settings
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
    (C) Setup as new (data will be lost)
    Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop
    *Firefox 14.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
*Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
*Install the new version that you have downloaded
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data if you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.

  • OS 1.4 software update server and other versions of OS X

Quick question: Is it possible to have a 10.4.x software update server provide software updates to clients running 10.3, 10.5, etc?

    Hi
Software Update service supports only pkm.en file types, recognized only by
Mac OS X v10.4 and later.
Page 76 System Imaging and Software Update Admin Manual 10.5 available from here:
    http://images.apple.com/server/macosx/docs/SystemImaging_and_SW_Update_Adminv10.5.pdf
So yes to 10.4 and 10.5 clients but not 10.3.

  • 3GS can not update software on itunes update server and cannot download purchased APPs

I have an iphone 3GS and I dont seem to be able to download apps I purchase directly onto it.  I thought I would try to do it through my itunes but it keeps trying to connect to the iphone software update server first which it cant seem to do

No. Updating software is across all users. About the only time that isn't true is if you installed a piece of software for only one user. But then that piece of software would never be available to the other user if it was made available it would be the updated version.

  • Software Update Server and auto update

I have found that if a workstation running Yosemite is set to receive OS X updates from a Software Update Server (OS X Server 4.0 on Yosemite), and is also set to install OS X updates automatically, the workstation neither installs the updates automatically nor gives notification that updates are available to install.  Has anyone else noticed this, and is there a fix?

Really? I have a 100% reproducible case where installing Server disables local user automatic login. It doesn't grey out / disable the controls in the User panel, it just causes the system to completely ignore them.
It does the same thing with the scheduled reboot capabilities in Energy. The options are still there, but if Server is installed they are ignored. I assume these are related - Server stopping desktop actions that are not normally good for servers.
My system was working the way I wanted it for months, then I installed Server, and it stopped. If I drag Server out of Applications, a minute later I get the 'server being disabled...' dialog, and on the next reboot auto-login starts working again.

  • Windows 2012 R2 License Server and Firewall Ports

    Hi,
I have setup a Windows Server 2012 R2 as a RDS license server, and I have installed the necessary CALS.  This server is on the domain and in AD.  We have a separate VLAN that is isolated but can join domain for authentication purposes only,
