Ios 5 update deleted my contacts

Hi I just finished updating my iphone and now all my contacts are gone.  Surely there is an easy way to restore them?  Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I had the same problem and managed to get all my old contacts back. It was because I synced my contacts toiCloud on the initial setup, but nothing was in there. If you go to settings-iCloud- and turn off contacts, your old contacts should appear!

  • IPHONE 4 – UPDATE ISSUE – IOS 7 UPDATE DELETED ALL THE CONTACTS : PLEASE HELP! PLEASE HELP!

    Hello Everyone,
Following are the seemingly essential details in regards to this discussion :
    iPhone Model = 4
    Purchase Date = 05.Jan.2011
Initial Activation Remark = I used my gmail email account to add contacts initially. But phone always failed to sync (back) with gmail after the initial setup. As in if I make any changes in the iPhone’s Contact List, it won’t automatically be saved to my gmail account. But I thought to keep a full phone back up on my MacBook Pro will be safer option as well.
    Latest Full Phone Backup Date = 19.Sep.2013 [via iTunes-11 on MacBook Pro-OS X 10.8.2]
    iOS 7 Update Date = 20.Sep.2013
    >>>[It went "On" Automatically when I touched to read the details, and could not stop once it got initiated - Actually I wanted to wait until some reviews were out. ****.]
Problem = iOS 7 update deleted all the Contacts that were originally saved on the iPhone.
Tried & Failed = I tried to restore from the available 19.Sep.2013 backup from my MacBook Pro. It restored everything but still NO CONTACTS. If I add email [orginal gmail] account's contacts then it does not show the contacts that I saved on the phone locally; around 1100.
I am in the great trouble because my 1100+ contact list just zeroed by this new update.
[Also, my iCloud all got screwed up. I had earlier used my wife's credit card to register for iTunes, and now my account got her name all over it. There is no option to change the name on icloud.com. I will start a new discussion for this problem.] Though I am trying not to lash out on Apple (for now), but I think that it is seriously getting into my nerves.
Could anyone please help me to get my contacts back? I will be eternally grateful.
I still got the Full iPhone Backup on my MacBook Pro that I did just before the update.
    Please help. Thank you!

    Yes, I did.
It restored everything [incl. photos] but phone contacts.
And, after restoration the iOS was still 7.
I tried twice but still no phone contacts.
Please help me to get my phone contacts back!

  • IOS 8 update deleting picture

When I updatd my iPad to iOS 8 like 600 pictures went missing. I cannot find them in any folder, I never put them in iCloud. What do I do? And why is my iPad mini so slow with iOS 8 when my friends ipad 2 from 2011 is way faster?

My Iphone 5 got stuck right after I installed iOS8 also.  Mine would not let me past the Hello page.  I had an iCloud backup, so this is what I did.
Downloaded iOS 7.1.2 to my computer. http://www.iclarified.com/750/where-to-download-iphone-firmware-files-from
    Restored My iPhone using iTunes.
    -Launch iTunes
-Plug phone into computer and hold down the sleep button and wake button on your phone until it shows iTunes restore
-Hold Shift in windows 7 while you click restore in iTunes
This will erase everything on your phone and install a fresh version of 7.1.2
I had an icloud backup so I applied that to get all my files and settings back.  (you can not apply a backup from iOS7 onto iOS8 so that is why I did everything above)
I then tried to install the iOS8 update from iTunes instead of over the air.  No luck there either.
I guess I will stick with iOS7 untill the next build.
I hope this helps.  Remember if you do not have a backup that includes all your pictures and such don't do this Because all will be lost.
Has anyone else got iOS8 installed just to get stuck on the Hello page?

  • IOS7 update deletes my contact info when I send a text, why?

Since the IOS7 update I have been losing my contact info (Most recent saved numbers within 2-3 months) when I send a text message and when they respond it comes back as a blank number and no name. I send goup text quite often and I have to go to to that numbered text to see who it is. I have discussed this with several family members that has a I4 phone and I5 phone and they are experiencing the same thing. It is very annoying that I am ready to turn this phone in. I  powered the phone off and did the home button and power button to reboot and still experiencing the same problems.  Please help!!

I found the problem. If you set your text alert tone to none. The phone will not make a message sent sound. I set it to Tritone and it started make the sound again.

  • Will upgrading to iOS 4.1 delete my contacts and calender settings?

I tried to upgrade my iPod Touch 2g to 4.1 but iTunes gave me a warning message saying that upgrading will "restore" my app settings. Does this mean things like my calender appointments, contacts and bookmarks will permanently disappear from my device?
This might be an extremely stupid question but this is the first time im upgrading and id be very grateful for help

You will always get this warning, but restore anyway. You will be offered the option to restore from backup on down the line. There are always risks in a process such as this. If we didn't backup, we'd never update, restore, reset, etc.

  • IOS 7 update deleted files?

I have been using an app called Qucik Voice. Amongst other things I have recorded my kids singing etc.. After upgrading til iOS 7 the QuickVoice app was gone and so was the recordings.. Instead of the Quick Voice there was an apple app for speach recording..
Now, I have backups in iCloud and this should also be the case for my Quick Voice files.. Problem beeing, how do I get hold of these files? I have tried to restore my iPhone to the latest backup witch was before the iOS 7 upgrade. No Go. Help!

The app data is only stored in the backup.  If restoring the backup did not restore the app then there is no way to go back and access the app data.  You might try restoring an earlier backup to see if that might recover it.  Apple states that iCloud maintains your last 3 iCloud backups.  You might need to tap Show older backups to access them.

  • I updated my iPod touch 4th generation from the latest iOS 4 update (i think maybe iOS 4.3.5 or something like that) to iOS 5.1.1 and my Photos, Videos, contacts, music, App data, etc. was deleted. How can I all the data back?

I updated my iPod touch 4th generation from the latest iOS 4 update (i think maybe iOS 4.3.5 or something like that) to iOS 5.1.1. I updated to iOS 5.1.1 on a Windows XP Home Edition with the Service Pack 3 installed on the Windows XP (which I believe is the latest version). After updating, I unplugged my iPod from the computer. I saw that all my photos and videos were on my iPod, but there were no apps. A window popped up and told me to enter a passcode for my iPod. I entered a passcode. I then locked my iPod and entered what I thought to be the correct passcode, but my iPod remained unlocked. Desperate, I tried many passcodes with failure. After a while, my iPod became disabled for a long time. I decided to reset my iPod. After I reseted it, I chose to reset from my earlier back up. After reseting, my computer loaded on all my apps. But, when I started using my iPod, I realized all my photos, videos, music, app data (like game saves and high scores), etc. were gone! I have no idea what to do and I am very stressed about this! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME GET ALL MY STUFF BACK!!!!!!

Go to iTunea>Preferences>Devices and see if there is a backupright at the time you did the update. Then try restoring from that backup. If the apps are in your iTunes library, any app data will be restored to the iPod.
When restoring from an iOS 4 (or later) backup, if the device had a passcode set, iTunes will ask if you want to set a passcode (and remind you that you had protected your device with a passcode). iTunes will not ask you to set a passcode when restoring from iOS 3.x and prior backups.
Therefore, remembe the passcode that you enter this time.
It appears that if you restore from a backup, that backup is not subseqyently overwritten by the next backup.

  • Since the iOS 7 update i cannot log into my icloud. Seems I have two iCloud loggins. One old. one new. When I try to delete the ol from my phone it does not accept the password nor will it take my info to reset my password.

At one point I had set up my itunes and icloud with an old email address. I have since shanged that to a new email. iTunes works fine and I can log into my new iCloud on my PC but my phone will not allow me to delete the old iCloud email without the password. I select to reset the password but the system will not accept my birthdate or security questions. All happening after i did the iOS 7 update. Any thoughts? Thank you!

    1) Did you change that old email address to your current email address to be your current Apple ID?  If so, try to enter your current password for your current Apple ID/iCloud account.  If it doesn't work, try #2.
    2) If you don't have access to your old email account.  Same process, go to https://appleid.apple.com and sign in your current iCloud/Apple ID then edit it to your old email address then Save the changes.  DON'T sign out yet.  Go back to your iOS device then delete your iCloud account.  Once deleted, go back to the Apple ID website and rename it back to your current email address.  You have to verify it this time and you will be able to since you have access to that email address.
    3) If your answer to #1 is NO, contact Apple Support (Account Security Team) to help you reset its password but you need to have another email address available which is not yet an Apple ID to send the password reset email.
    Hope this helps!  Cheers!
