IOS 5 Update encrypted my backup, WTH is the password????

I updated to iOS 5 several minutes ago, it did a backup before the update.  Now it's trying to restore my backup and asking for a password even though I did not set one nor is the encrypt backup option even checked.  What in the **** is the password it set and why did it even set one??  I need my **** phone restored A S A P!

I am having this same problem.  I never choose to encrypt my backup file before and have defintely never set a password yet after upgrading my iPad to iOS 5, I can't restore my iPad and my Apple ID is not unlocking the backup file.  I even tried to restore a backup file that I made a couple of weeks ago (I had copied it to a backup drive) and it is prompting me for an unlock password for it as well.
Very depressed now as I had a ton of videos, recordings, notes, etc on my iPad.  Really hating Apple right now.  I can't believe they would not adequately test the backup and restore process!!!  Unbelievable!!
Wondering if there is a way to uninstall the latest iTunes and re-install an older version and then restore my iPad using my backup file from two weeks ago.  I don't care if it takes my iPad back to a pre-iOS 5 version at this point.  I just want my lost data back.

Apple removed blood glucose until further notice. The reason behind this is that it gave a distorted picture in countries where the medical world used other measuring units. I suspect it will be available again in a future update.

All of us here are users just like you. We have no inside info of when Apple products or operating system updates/upgrades will be released. The next iOS may not even change the issue you have.

I have been using facetime on my iphone5 for a while and after the recent IOS update, I cannot seems to use my facetime any longer. what went wrong?

'The installer has insufficient privileges to modify this file C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\Web kit.resources\inspector\Images\Spinner Inactive Selected.gif.'
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • Im having trouble with app store it says Im logged on but when I tru to Download something a different account pops up and I cant Seem to log out from that account how am I supposed to Download or update my Apps if dont have the password?

I tryed resetting my phone but it did'nt work tryed kogging out and log inn aganon but my app store still shoes a different account and cøas a password I dont have.. What shall I do?

If you are being prompted for the password for a different Apple ID when you update apps, it's because you have one or more apps on your phone that was purchased with that ID.  Apps and their updates are permanently tied to the ID used to purchase them.  The only way to stop this prompt is to delete the app(s) that were purchased with this ID from your phone.

  • How do i log out off the app store as it has the wrong email and I can't do my updates as i don't know the password

How do i log out off the app store as it has the wrong email and I can't do my updates as i don't know the password

Go to Settings > iTunes & App Store, tap on the Apple ID, and choose 'Sign Out'.
However, logging out of the iTunes & App Store won't change the Apple ID you need to use to update an app.  It only affects what Apple ID you're using to download a new app.
Apps always have to be updated using the Apple ID that was used to download it originally.  Go to iforgot.apple.com to reset that password.  If you cannot do so, then contact Apple Account Security, or delete the app and redownload it using an Apple ID and Password that you know.

    Hi Dee12124,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
I am going to get you to do a soft reset that, I will hope fix some of your issues.
    To do this:
    1. Press and hold the Home button (big circle below the screen) and the Sleep/Wake button (on top of the iPhone) simultaneously.
    2. Continue holding both buttons until the iPhone shuts off and begins to restart. This will take anywhere from 10-20 seconds.
    3. When you see the Apple Logo, you can let go of the buttons.
If this still doesn't fix your device, what we could do is try resetting the whole device, wiping it. If this is the case, get back to me and I will pose the steps below. I would recommend that you do this AFTER the device is backedup however.
    Before you restore your device
Make sure you’re using the latest version of iTunes.
Use iTunes to back up your device. Transfer and sync any additional content to your computer.
Turn off Find My iPhone in Settings > iCloud on your device to disable Activation Lock.
    Restore your iOS device
Connect your iOS device to your computer using the cable that came with it.
Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes. In the Summary panel, click Restore.
Click Restore again to confirm that you want to restore your device to factory settings and delete all data and content. iTunes will download the iOS software file and restore your iOS device.
After your iOS device is restored to factory settings, it will restart. Once it does, you’ll see the "Slide to set up” welcome screen. Follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. You can set up your device as new or using a previous backup. If your iOS device has cellular service, it will activate after you restore.

  • IPad and iTunes cannot check for iOS updates. And iTunes cannot restore the iPad to 6.1.2.

    Hi.
I have iPad 4G 32GB A1460. NO JAILBREAK EVER. Recently I installed iOS 7 Beta 3 on it. And now when I go to Settings -> General -> Software Update I get the error message "Unable to Check for Update. An error occurred while checking for a software update." And that's all. No useful information actually.
I have tried to reboot the device but no luck. I have also tried to connect it to a PC and check for updates from iTunes. iTunes shows me a little different error message: "iTunes could not check for an update to the carrier settings for your iPad. An unknown error occurred (1651). Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later." I checked the connection just in case and was convinced that the Internet connection is active. Does anyone know what's happening? I really don't like this.
OK, maybe the next iOS version isn't out yet. But what will happen if it is? Will I be forced to use 7.0 Beta 3 forever? I don't want to))
Another thing that I've tried to do is to restore my iPad to iOS 6.1.2. But the iTunes shows another error: "The iPad "<iPad name>" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (3194)." I tried this on Windows and Mac. On Mac I have a different message: "This device isn't eligible for the requested build" which seems to be the same thing as 3194-error on Windows.
Can anyone help me? Is there a reasonable explanation of this? Is this related to Apple's developers web site unavailability (http://devimages.apple.com/maintenance/)?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Where do iOS updates come from? Apple or the service provider?

Having a discussion with somebody on another forum. When an update to iOS is released, does your iPhone get it from Apple or from the service provider such as AT&T?
I've heard of Android users having issues because they have to wait for their service provider to release OS updates to their phones but this doesn't seem to be an issue with iPhones, iPads, etc.

ONLY from Apple either through iTunes or online update if you have iOS5 or newer

  • Anyone else having battery life sucked out of their iPhone since downloading new iOS update? I don't use the phone much yet it dies faster now.

The new update is killing my phone faster than before. Is there a way to fix this problem? I have shut off my location setting and lowered the brightness and shut wifi off when not at home.

    Hello, Btchy.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Battery life can be difficult to troubleshoot as multiple factors contribute to how long a charge can last.  Graphic intensive applications, display brightness and data connectivity are just a few of the items that can cause the battery life to decrease rapidly.  I would need to know a little more information about your usage patterns and device type to give you and idea on how to maximize battery life.  However, here are some additional tips on how to adjust settings that may help.
