  • Can't update my iPod Touch 5th generation to iOS 6.1 - error 3194

I saw there was an update so I plugged it into my PC and it said that there was a new update available. I always update via iTunes. It download the update and started to backup my iPod. Then when it was updating and error 3194 popped up. I've tried several times, I've rebooted my PC, tried doing that thing with the host file and what not. Then I tried to install it via Wi-Fi but it just said that I wan't connected to Wi-Fi which I was.
How can I fix this? Is it a problem on Apple's side?

Try updating the iPod touch again.
A few people in this thread say the problem isn't happening anymore.

  • IPod touch stuck in recovery mode after iOS 6 update error 6

I wanted to sync my iPod touch with my Mac last night, when iTunes tried to sell me on the iOS 6 update.  I told it to go ahead with the update, and left it alone to do its thing.  When I checked again, it told me the update had failed with error 6, and that I might need to restore my iPod.  The only info I've found about error 6 pertains to Windows security software, and that clearly does not apply to my case.
The iPod is now stuck in recovery mode, and none of the my googling has changed that.  I have tried the various patterns of power and home keys, and have also tried downloads that were supposed to force the iPod out of recovery mode.  How exactly does an update brick a device?  Now I don't mind restoring the iPod, but I need to get my data back.  Loosing the data is not acceptable.  This is not a jailbreak attempt.  I just want my data back, and I don't mind going low-level to get it (i.e. terminal, dd, scripts, ...).  Pointers in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

I was able to extract my data and copy it to a disk image with the help of http://code.google.com/p/iphone-dataprotection/wiki/README.  This process is really only appropriate for developers, I regret to say, but for developers the process is reasonably robust.  I still had to read between the lines in one or two places, and make good use of the shell, but I am delighted to have retrieved my data from my iPod.
A lower priority question for me is whether to try to collect my notes and contacts from the assorted .sqlitedb files.  It looks like iFunBox may come in handy if I try to push things back onto the iPod once I restore it.
For anyone who cares to know, my iPod Touch decided to listen on port 2000 instead of port 2222, my /dev/rdisk0sXsY devices had different numbers than expected by dump_data_partition.sh, and I had to find my keychain-2.db file in /mnt2/Keychains on the data filesystem.  But it worked, and that's awesome.

  • IPod Touch 4g does not restore/update - error 3194

    Hello,
I've recently been having a great deal of trouble with my 64GB iPod Touch 4g, which I purchased in maybe late March or early April of this year. I consider myself adequately learned in technology and I've done a vast amount of research into this problem, and have not been able to resolve it, so I took it upon myself to ask my question here.
Firstly, I am running iTunes on a Windows 7 64-bit system, and I should note that I have found lots of answers to similar problems for people with jailbroken iPod Touches, but I don't think these solutions would work for me since I have not jailbroken my iPod. I have also not yet upgraded to iOS 6, but was on the latest version of iOS (5.x...I don't remember). Also, I bought my iPod from Amazon so obviously the 30-day return window has expired.
Anyway, on to the problem. Yesterday, my iPod froze and so I reverted to the 'hard reboot' method of fixing it by pressing the home key and the sleep key at the same time, and released when the Apple logo showed up. I waited for the device to reboot as it normally does, except that in all the previous times I have done this hard reboot, while the Apple logo shows up for a little while until the lock screen loads, this time that did not happen. Instead, there were colored bars that showed up on the screen (I don't know how to describe it, exactly) that eventually covered up the Apple logo and faded into a completely white screen. From this screen, I tried the hard reboot again and the Apple logo showed up again, only to be covered up by those bars and fading into white again. I tried rebooting it a few more times, but to no avail.
I then opened iTunes and plugged in my iPod, but it was not recognised by the computer (presumably because it was not fully on), so I tried putting the device in DFU recovery mode (hold the sleep key and home key until the device tells you to connect to iTunes). At this point, iTunes seemed to recognize that a device was plugged in, but not that it was my iPod because where it normally gives you the information (my iPod, Capacity: ...., Serial number: ... and so forth), the information just read 'iPod' (not 'My iPod', as it was named before this unfortunate event), 'Capacity: n/a, Serial number: n/a', and so forth. I pressed the 'restore' button and there was an error, 3194, on the step 'Verifying restore with Apple'.
So I went to Google, looking up troubleshooting tips for this particular error, and most of the answers I found were just for people with jailbroken iPods, even though mine isn't jailbroken. I have tried numerous solutions (updating the hosts file in drivers, turning off the firewall, etc) to no avail, and I still get that pesky white screen whenever I try to reboot my device.
I'm also worried that even if I get my device to restore successfully, then it still might not boot up properly. To be honest, I'm a little more worried about the booting problem than the restoring problem.
Does anyone have any advice for what I should do in this situation, other than visit the Apple store? There is one in my town but I feel like I've invested a lot in this device and I don't want to pay too much for any repairs that may need to be done (especially considering that this appears to be a software issue and not a hardware one); I'm a high school student and don't have that much money.
    Thank you for any help.

  • Windows Update Error 800B0109 after Windows Update Agent 7.6.7600.320 Installed

Hi, I have this error message when running windows update, it happened after Windows Update Agent 7.6.7600.320 installed.
Any idea how to resolve this?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
Please make sure that your antivirus application does not scan the files in the
%windir% \SoftwareDistribution directory on any computer on which Windows Update Agent is installed.
You can also temporarily turn off the antivirus application and check the result.
Or run the following commands, and press Enter after each command:
    Net stop wuauserv
    cd %systemroot%
    Ren SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
    Net start wuauserv
    Try to install updates again.

I tried the commands as well, still prompting the same error.
    Thanks

  • HT4623 IOS 6 update error

Hey , im trying to update my iphone 4s to IOS 6 but every time i download the update it won't complete and it says " ios 6 update failed" . Please help me as fast as you could

So after all the useless guidance here is where I have made it today:
I ran the diagnostic tool and corrected the indicators till all were green, except for the last one that said I was not connecting to itunes store securely. Then I performed a fix as detailed  below:
    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:
iTunes 10.5 for Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store

After this now my connection works great but it went through all the trouble of trying to restore the unit only to end with "there is a problem with your device" pay us the out of warranty fee and we will fix it or replace it.
I am frustrated. Pay us and we will fix it but we can't tell you whats wrong is not a deal I can live with. Tell me whats wrong then I can make a decsion on whats worth investing to fix it.

  • After ios 5 update and restore from backup my passcode doesn't work, what happened?

yesterday iupdated my ipod touch 4g to ios5 and i selected to backup from an itunes backup i made yesterday morning, but after doing so, my ipod went to sleep, and when i tried to unlock it, it told me ipod disabled wait 1 minute, after a minute i tried again but then  it said wait 5 minutes, why isn't my passcode working?

Restore from Backup once more. Passcodes are not restored in backups, so you should be able to get on the iPod without a passcode, then go into Settings and set up a new one (or the old one if you want).

  • IOS 6 update error -1

I'm trying to update my iPad 2 WiFi + 3G at&t, but keep getting as far as "restoring iPad firmware" and it never loads - giving me error -1. I'm not sure of what to do. i even tried starting the update attempt in dfu, and it still didn't work and gave me the same error. everything is up-to-date on my computer - using a 2009 mbp; i have also successfully updated my iphone 4s to ios 6.  does anyone have any more information that could help?

I have the same problem with an iphone 4 and your not gonna be to happy about what i have to tell you.
I gives error 1 since i updated it to 5.0.1 for the first time, it was working fine before hand for almost a year and never happend annything to it, no falling, no water nothing.
i have been over this situation for more then a half year and nobody can help me.
Apple store wont do annything about it because the hardware is ok according to them.
Apple genius bar cant figure out the problem after like 3 appointments.
I replaced the WiFi module, the logic board, the battery, all the contact points and cleaned them with alcohol, replaced the flex cable on the speaker module.
The only way to boot it is with redsn0w or tinyumbrella or whatever after the error code pops up to force it into boot.
Only after that day i've updated to 5.0.1 i now have a iphone 4 with No wifi, No bluetooth, No Service. but i still have all my Imei, mac, bluetooth model numbers nothing is missing according to the phone, nothing greyed out. it only doesn't work.
I will never update annything from apple again, this is outrageous that a update can destroy hardware.
i did all i could, in a windows pc, on a mac, 4 different cables. replaced all the hardware i can think about and even the apple stores cant help me fix it.
i'm willing to do annything to solve this problem and everything is exceptable except buying a complete new iphone.
please apple, read this and help me!! this is not how you tread your customers, and the last 2 topics i openend here where deleted.
i have for about 6.000-7.000 worth of apple products and i'm thinking of never buying annything from you again untill you get back the customer service you guys came so excellent in !!!!!!!

  • TS3694 iOS 6 update Error (6) in India?

I am receiving an error in updating my iPhone 4 to iOS6 in India. An error (6) is coming always. What should i do next?

    Hi~~~
I was experiencing the same thing and I saw thus question this morning when I reliesed there was and iOS update
ヽ(;▽;)ノ anyway back to my point. I was randomly thinking until I thought of an idea. BASICALLY! All you need to do is double click your home button, and the tab at the bottom will appear and all your open apps, hold in to it and they will start jiggling wiggling whatever, and as you will see there's red sighn at the top left side. Click on all of them until there's nothing left ( make sure your on your home page for this ) and then return to setting and retry the update.
Sorry if I'm not good at explaining ( it's my first time heheh )

  • GF's phone froze on iOS 7 update and can't backup.

So she tried to update her phone to iOS 7 and now its stuck at the apple logo.
Problem now is that she can't backup her phone since it has a passcode and her phone is stuck at the logo screen.
Is there any work around to this cus she has a lot of photos that she doesn't want to lose.

Same for me. This is a terrible bug that Apple should've thought about before releasing iOS7. I knew I couldn't have been the only one locked out because the Greek keyboard disappeared.

  • Windows Automatic Update Error 80072EFD - After new HD installation by Toshiba

    Hi,
The hard drive went in my computer and I got it repaired at Toshiba Service centre. Four weeks later and it wont update windows which now causes web site security certificate errors with itunes, banks and paying for items on the web. I have called Toshiba and told them when I got it back it doesn't work correctly and they say its not there problem! Windows worked fine before the hard drive re-install.
I have tried nearly every suggestion on windows forums out there and tried to install the windows fix it tool but it wont let me on my laptop. I have also tried installing the Intel driver that people recommend but that also doesn't work. I have malware scanned the system as suggested by Microsoft it still wont work.
I keep getting windows error code 80072ED. The only thing i havent done which was suggested by toshiba was do a re-install by holding 0 key when rebooting the computer but I dont want to lose my hard drive and wipe it all. Im using windows 7 home premium. Somebody please help.
    Thanks

the old hard drive was removed and a new hard drive installed and the computer re configured to out of the box state. I dont think the windows update has worked since I got it back from Toshiba.
If it's just back from the Toshiba shop and doesn't work right before making changes, you should return it.
That error code indicates a network configuration problem. Do you have other problems on the internet?\
Do you have more than one anti-virus program resident in memory?

  • Lumia 1020; app update error 80073cf6 after cyan ...

I updated my Lumia 1020 to the Nokia Cyan firmware today. Most of the app updates went fine but now some updates from the store are stuck with the error code 80073cf6.
I tried restarting the phone but that does not help. Any ideas?

The "error code 80073cf6" in Windows 8 on PC's suggest trouble in the store cache on the device, and there are procedures to reset and clear this on a PC - but this is only possible on Windows Phone by performing a factory reset.
I hesitate to advice a factory reset of the phone since it is a lot of work, and may not solve the problem! Also, since this is trouble between the Store and the phone, it may be solved in an update of the phone or the store later.
I would sit tight for a while (days or weeks ...) unless the apps are important here and now, and keep an eye on new updates to the phone, and retry the download once in a while, but it's your decision whether to try a factory reset.
Microsoft have information of devices failing to download apps from the store, and if your specific trouble affect enough people, changes are likely to be made (days or weeks ...)

  • IPad 2 iOS 7 update error 4013

So I was updating my boyfriend's iPAD and while updating it stopped and gave me a typical error message but with error 4013. It worked fine before and is now stuck in the "connect to itunes mode" recovery mode. I have tried updating and no luck. I have even tried updating in DFU mode and no luck. Anyone git any solutions?

All Apple servers are undergoing a huge number of hits.  I think tomorrow or even the next day, all upgrade and activation servers will be in much better shape.
    I know this is a pain . . .
