IOS 5 update won't play 5.1 Dolby digital sound

I just updated both my apple tv 2's to iOS 5. Now, in order to get sound out of my movies that I used the apple tv 2 settings in handbrake for, I must turn off Dolby digital. They worked fine before the update. Any suggestions?

"I have Reset my Apple TV as per your instructions and sill have the same issue with the latest V4.4 firmware, previously all video's played ok on V4.3
Procedure
AppleTV is connect directly to my Onkyo TX-SR508 via HDMI
Reset as per instructions
1. Reset -> restore Apple TV
2. Waited for the latest firmware to download and re-install (v 4.4)
3. Setup as per on screen instructions
4. Reconnect to Home sharing
Issue No Audio playing (Video OK)
5. Select a Video in AppleTV (encoded with 3 channels - Channel 1: Video (H.264), Channel 2: Audio (AC3 5.1 surrond sound), Channel 3: Audio (AAC Stereo)
6. Press Play, Audio does not Play (Dolby Digital light does not illuminate on Onkyo receiver) :-(
7. Press up on remote
8. Hold select for more options
9. Select Audio
10. Select ACC audio channel (Audio starts to play in ACC Stereo)
11. Reselect AC3 audio channel (audio starts to play in AC3 5.1 surround sound, Dolby Digital light illuminate's on Onkyo receiver) :-)
Notes:
1. I have to de-select/re-select the audio on ever video file for Audio to play correctly in AC3
2. click audio is correctly heard when navigating the Appletv menu's

I am trying to do the iOS 8 update on my iPhone 5S. I am getting a message saying that .... "This update cannot be installed because it requires 5.8 GB of storage." You need 5.8GB of available space on your device, not in your iCloud account. You'll have to delete something, at least temporarily, in order to perform the update. If you have lots of music on your phone that is in your iTunes library, you could remove it (by going to Settings>General>Usage, tapping Music, tap Edit, then tap next to All Music) then sync it back after the update. Another option is to import your camera roll photos to you computer and delete them from your phone (see iOS: Import personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer), then sync them back to your phone after the update.

ITunes update won't play playlists

Since I upgraded to version 8...it doesn't allow me to play any of my playlists, particluarly podcasts....it worked fine before!!!!

I have the same thing come up after I downloaded the new itunes. The podcasts in my plalists won't sync to my ipod.

Newest update won't play games

I updated both itunes and ipod software two days ago and now the games that I downloaded will not play. An error message comes up saying to reinstall the games. I cannot find out how to do this anywhere in itunes and an itunes support email instructed me on "how to sync and ipod." The game played perfectly until this recent update and I already tried to sync the games again.

IOS 7 update won't let me use my phone number for iMessage

I just updated my software to ios7. I have the iPhone 4s. However after I downloaded it, I realized that iMessage won't allow me to use my phone number, I went to settings & my phone number is listed as an option but it won't let me click on it, so when I try to send messages they are being sent from my email.

I've got an iPhone 4 and after trying to install iOS 7, it's been stuck on the same download screen for close to 2 hours now, and the download bar hasn't moved from its current spot. What should I do? :(

QuickTime 7.6.2 won't play videos - blank screen, no sound

I have tried AVI files from my hard drive and Flash videos from the Internet. My computer runs Flash 10. MP3 audio files work okay.

I don't know what Second Life is. You mention .avi on your HD, Gspot will tell you what codecs are being used in the .avi container, read it.
To view .swf from the internet you need Adobe flash plug-in as Kirk pointed out, QT does not handle .swf or .flv

Try going to Safari preferences, general tab and set "Save downloaded files to: desktop (you will have to click other , then click Desktop from the left column.
This will download the stand alone un/re installers to the desk top.
Do the un-installer first, double click on it on the desk top to launch and follow the prompts to uninstall
Then download the installer to the desktop, double click on that and follow the prompts to install

Since updating to 7, videos and movies won't play

I just uploaded the latest version of iTunes. Since doing so yesterday, the videos and movies I had in my Library won't play. I get the sound, but all I get for a picture is colors. Anyone know how to debug? How do I get to view my videos again?

First thing to check would be system requirements,
Right click on My Computer click on Properties,
Near the bottom it will say what processor and Ram are.
For all video to play properly iTunes / Quicktime requires 2.0+ GHz Pentium Class processor and 512MB Ram and 32MB Video Ram.
If you do meet the system requirements, You may want to try uninstalling / reinstalling Quicktime.
Start...Control Panel...Add Remove Programs
Remove Quicktime
Open My Computer
Browse to c:\Program Files\ and delete the Quicktime folder.
Go to http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html and make sure that QuickTime 7.1.3 for Windows 2000/XP is selected.
Download and install, After install, restart and test.

Have you checked if your Earphones are working?
Do you get the Music menu after the reset? (what is display on the Screen? song playing)
Normally if you Reset the iPod, it will turn the shuffle mode off, but do check under setting that shuffle mode is off.

.aiff files won't play in finder (and some programs)

Mac Pro 4.1
Doing some long-overdue file cleanup, and when I preview some .aiff files in the finder they won't play. The Apple .aiff sound effect files play, but things I've recorded won't play, although they will play if imported into iTunes. Other audio formats are playing fine in Finder.
Also, a recording program I sometimes use called Tracktion will play files in other formats, but my .aiff files are silent or pure harsh static.
Is there a global setting that might be corrupted somewhere? Could this be the fault of my recent Mavericks installation?

I came across the same problem in Mavericks, some wav files played, others didn't. I found that adding '.wav' to the end of files that didn't audition in Finder cured the problem.
As I have many thousands of sound fx files in different formats, changing them individually was not possible.
There are batch conversion apps which will add the .wav (or other format endings) when batch converting - this is what I have been doing. Export them with no change to format but the filename is now correct to audition.
Mavericks broke the two things I liked most - auditioning sounds, movies, pictures etc from Finder, and the file/folder highlight colours. Just a stupid coloured dot now.

Sound won't play in .fla file

How can I get sound to play in .fla again like it did before

Can't stream Dolby Digital movies from iTunes to Apple TV 2 since iOS 4.1

Has anyone the same problem?
Since I updated Apple TV to 4.1 it's not possible to stream movies with Dolby Digital sound to Apple TV anymore. When I try to start playing the movie I get this error message:
The operation coulnd\U2019t be completed.
(BackRowErrors error 326.)
This problem didn't appear on iOS 4.0. Videos with stereo sound still work, so I think it has something to do with the Dolby Digital. I encoded the videos using Handbrake.

I was having the same error. I switched Audio Language to default and Dolby Digital to 'on' and I finally can see the video, but with no sound...
I tried MKVTools and Handbrake, AC3 passthru for audio on both, iTunes plays nice, but Apple TV doesn't. Any other solution?
