Ios 5 wont restore in itunes

my iphone 4 slowed down on ios 5 custom firmware so i decided to restore, but everytime i try to restore and update it always gets stuck on "preparing iphone for restore" on the iphone a loading circle pops up at the bottom of the screen with the apple logo. the bar pops up under the apple logo and that is fars as it goes before it pops up a error
i tried tiny umbrella,
plz help.....

Check USB connections

Iphone stuck in recovery with itunes logo. wont restore in itunes either. what to do?

yesterday my iPhone was on the carrier mode 'searching...' and wouldn't find connection, taken sim out put back in. done everything. went to EE store and got told to reset iPhone so that's what I did, from my iPhone. from then it frozen on the restore screen and wouldn't restore. I looked on-line and did recovery mode and now its stuck in recovery and wont restore on iTunes. How do reset and update my phone? HELP

Had the same thing happen to my iphone 6 that I just purchased 3 weeks ago. I did the latest upgrade to the software ,phone worked fine for the day but later that night it crashed,went to a black screen and would not do anything. I put it into dfu recovery mode to restore which is where it got worse. Phone was locked with the "connect to iTunes screen " and when I tried to restore several times kept getting error code 4003 and 4013. End result was a trip to the genius bar at the Apple Store where it was determined to be most likely some sort of hardware failure so they replaced my phone with what looked like a refurb but so far so good with the new one. Knock on wood. I still believe there are issues with this latest update because although my phone is working it's not running as smooth as it did the first few weeks I had it. I am very disappointed with the ongoing issues with the iPhone's. I've had every model phone from back to the i3 and never had as many issues combined with this latest iPhone 6. Here hoping Apple gets it together or this will be my last ios device!!

I had a similar problem by the sounds, my iPhone 4 was close to dead in battery, then it just kept the boot logo on the screen and once every 2 minutes or so it made the usb connected noise when plugged into my mac.
Tried: restore in the brief moment it connects to itunes FAIL
Tried: home and power button for hours! FAIL
Tried all sorts of jargon on the net and in the end i came up with this clever tricker.

Put your iPhone in DFU mode (google it)
Connect to iTunes and restore - it's the only way I have found, and it's not been mentioned anywhere else I think.

I have been given a 2nd gen ipod and it wont reset and restore itself. It keeps saying connect to itunes and it wont update and the ipod has a password on it but it wont let me put it in. When itunes is trying to recover it and it keeps failing and having a error message. Please help!!!

I've updated my ipad then it said i had to connect to itunes so i did then it said i had to restore it done that then it keeps saying connect to itunes to restore from back up. All comes up on itunes from previous back up but doesn't do anything still stays on the screen of ipad connect to itunes. Computer and itunes reconises it but ipad does nothing. Getting annoyed. My iPhone 4 wont 'restore from itunes backup' after updating

I just backed up then updated my iPhone 4. When it was finished it said a problem occurred and I had to restore it. When it finished restoring and I went to sync it and restore from the itunes back up, to get alll my old stuff back, but my phone is staying on that set up screen, and keeps saying connect to itunes even know it is connected and has already synced.
and nothing is going on my phone.

The simplest way to exit out of DFU mode is to hold down the Home and sleep/power buttons on the iPhone while connected to iTunes. Then just hit the power button as and this should reboot the device as usual.

Hi, had probs with my i pod classic 180gb. Start up in itunes it says "ipod preparing for recovery" then " itunes detected an ipod in recovery mode needs to restore", so i do that but it comes up saying itunes could not restore " an unknown error has occurred -1439-1415 etc". Now its stuck in disk mode. Tried reloading windows drivers- updates, reloading itunes, the five r's.

If you are talking about the screen-lock passcode, thate means that the restore never successfully completed.
Try disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall.
- Next try the manual install method of:
iDevice Troubleshooting 101 :: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch
Place the iPod in recovery mode after the firmware download is complete and then restore using the instructions in the article. Sometimes recovery mode timeouts and returns to disabled before the firmware download is complete.
- Then try on another computer

You make an appointment at the genius bar of your local Apple Store and get it serviced/replaced. You broke it. If you can't even force a reboot, there's nothing much more you can do.

Iphone 4s wont restore at all

My ipone 4s wont restore in itunes. When i connect it, it goes through the update the when the restore happens it does'nt work. I get the 4000's errors like 4014. The phone has a black screen and when it is plugged in, the flashlight is always on. I have tried updating itunes, using different computer, and different cables and usb ports. Nothing works. I would really like to know how to fix it.
