IOS 6.0.1 Genius still crashes on iPod Touch 4G

I updated to iOS 6.0.1 and noticed that the app store search feature scrolls a lot more smoothly now. The issue is that since iOS 6 came out and even after the update the "Genius" tab on the App Store always crashes the App Store. I love the Genius feature and really miss it. Please fix this Apple! And please show YOUR support by replying back to this thread and reporting the issue to http://www.apple.com/feedback Thanks!

If it stopped working after an iOS update it could be that the update broke compatibility. That happens sometimes.
Have you went to Bose's support site? Maybe there is some information there like a firmware update.
Some this will fix it
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Can I still update my iPod Touch 2nd gen to iOS 4.2.1?

    Restore from backup.

Note the backup dopes not included synced media like apps and music.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • I recently bought a new computer because the screen on my other one cracked. I didn't get to back up or keep any of my music or apps but they are still on my iPod Touch 4G with iOS5. Is there any way I can transfer them to my iTunes library?

I recently bought a new computer and my other one crashed. All my songs, apps, videos and moviesa are gone but they are still on my iPod Touch 4G. Is there any way I can transfer them to my iTunes Library? (Most of them haven't been purchased)

    Use 3rd party software like:

Does apple still cover the iPod touch 2 gen

What do you mean by cover?
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.
      Apple - iPod Repair price
However, the cost may not be worth it for a 2G iPod.
To more easily find compatible apps:
iOSSearch - search the iTunes store for compatible apps.
Apple Club - filter apps by iOS version.
Starting when iOS 7 was releases, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

  • Can I Turn Genius off on my iPod Touch?

Just a simple question - I'm not too fond of this Genius feature... I've got about 1,000 songs and most songs keep coming up when I press Genius in their respective audio realms, which is making me get sick of songs really fast. What I want to know is: can I turn off the genius feature on my iPod Touch? It's off on iTunes 8, but does anyone know how I can turn it off on my iPod Touch 2.1?

I was hoping to just rid the iPod of it, but if it won't go away, I won't use it (as I've stopped). I was just hoping to not have it on my iPod anymore. But many thanks for your help!

  • I just upgraded my iTunes to version 11 on Windows 7.  I lost all my Playlists.  They are still on my iPod touch 1st gen, but not in iTunes.  How can I get them back?

I tried importing the iTunes Music Library.xml file, however it just duplicates the default playlists already in iTunes.  The playlists are still on my iPod Touch, just not in iTunes 11.  Therefore, I cannot manage and organize any songs into the existing playlists.  I do not want to have to go through and manually create the playlists again.  Any suggestions would really be appreciated!!  Thank you!!

    Hello.
I found my playlists.  They were never removed.  It appears that iTunes 11 shows them in a different place.  Which is kind of annoying.  Even more annoying trying to add purchased songs to the playlists on your iPod.
    - Click on the iPod button on the top right of your screen (beside the iTunes Store button)
    - Click Playlists along the middle of the top of the iTunes window
There are the playlists from your iPod
Kind of frustrating to add the songs, but the way I did it is:
    - Click on the song you want to add to your iPod playlist from your iTunes library
    - Click the arrow beside the song and select "Add to Up Next"
    - Go to your iPod playlists as per the above instructions
    - Click on the list icon in the same bar as the Apple icon on the top of the window (it is to the right of the apple     icon)
    - Now drag that song to the playlist(s) on your iPod
I am sure there is a much simpiler way....I just dont have time to figure it out right now.  If anyone has any simpiler way of doing this, please reply!!

A playlist takes up almost no room. A few kB at most.
It is simply a list of songs in the library
Do you want the playlists or not?

I just find it RIDICULOUS that my iPod touch is in good condition and some of the applications that I want download sometimes are not compatible with my iPod touch 4g. I am not going to buy an ipod 5th generation if my 4g is still going strong since the year of 2010.

For some reason, iOS 6 has decided to download on my iPod Touch through WiFi. I didn't request it, nothing is set to automatically update in the Touch settings, or iTunes. It seemed to start downloading when I  synced the Touch. I've disconnected the Touch from WiFi temporarily. How can I cancel the download, or will there be an option when it's done downloading to cancel the install?
    Thanks for any help...

You should really read the manual.
"How do you restore from backup? "
Restore.  When given the choice, choose to use backup.
"And how can I check to see if the pics and videos are on my computer somewhere first??"
They would only be where you put them.  What program did you use to import them?  Pics/vids taken with ipod are not part of the sync process at all.  You should be importing them just as you would with any digital camera.
If you did not import them, then they are not on your computer.

It appears that the iPod 4 gen is below the cutoff for iOS 7
See http://ipod.about.com/od/iphonesoftwareterms/f/What-Devices-Are-Ios-7-Compatible .htm where it say support for iOS 7 only goes down to iPod 5 gen.
