Ios 6.1.2 wifi issues

I am using iphone 4s for about 14 months now. i have never faced wifi issues before updating to ios 6.1.2. But now  i am not  staying connected to wifi for long time. I dont know whether i m alone in this world to face such an issue. Please help fix this issue to the earliest.
It's very disappointing to know that apple is ignoring such issues from its customers & even rolling back to back new software versions without even checking it to the fullest. And on top of that the apple customer care people are saying its a hardware problem. I think they are ignoring the fact of software issues with ios 6.1.2. especially with WIFI.
Please reply if anybody face such issues.and possible solution for it.

I've been having the same wifi dropouts on ios 6.1.2. I never have had this issue before, and it is very frustrating. It makes me wish I had never upgraded. I am not having this issue with my other wifi devices (PCs, Macs, Android phones, Roku, Wii, Apple TV), so I know it is not a router issue. Is Apple working on a fix?
One hard lesson that I learned is that I will never rush into any future ios updates again. I have tried all of the fixes that I could find online to no avail :-(
Oh, excuse me. I was just prompted again to rejoin my dropped wifi connection.

  • IPad iOS 8.0.2 WiFi issues and mitigation

So, I've been having lots of issues with WiFi connectivity and my iPad Air ever since updating from iOS 7.1.2 to 8.0.2, and it sounds like I'm not alone.  I've verified that the issue is not local to my home WiFi network (I can reproduce the issue on other WiFi networks) and I've preformed a fresh install of iOS 8.0.2, which did not help.
This *****, but until a fix comes out I've found the following procedures seem to get me back on the network....at least for a while.
    1). A Reset:
    http://www.imore.com/how-restart-or-reset-your-iphone-or-ipad
2.)  Disabling the Wi-Fi Networking services:
    http://www.iphonehacks.com/2014/09/fix-ios-8-wifi-problems.html
Neither of these will fix the issue for long, but both have seemed to work for a while.

Don't do it. I updated my iPod touch 5th Generation to ios 8.0.2 and it will keep dropping wifi, and safari has lots of bugs. I suggest waiting to 8.0.3 where we shall see if the update fixes wifi issues for real.
    Hope this helps

  • Does ios 6.1.3 wifi issues get solved in next update?

Has anyone solved their wifi issues after new update of ios ? Coz i am having wifi issues since i updated my iphone 4s to 6.1.2 . I dont think it is a hardware failure... I have tried resetting my iphone as new device. I have checked my router settings which is a netgear make.
Please help if new software updates help solve this problem? I have updated this from 6.1.2 to 6.1.3 but unfortunately  the problem persisted after updating my device to latest ios running. I guess many are having same issues. GUYS WE MUST DO SOMETHING SO THAT APPLE LISTENS US ATLEAST.

I'm having the same issue since 6.1.2. I worked throught the various checklists and nothing has worked. What I have noticed is most of the 'fixes' require me to do someithing with my home router. I don't understand that as I use my phone as a hotspot or internet connection while I'm away from home and on 3G. That part doesn't make sense.
When the phone is connected it is recognized in iTunes but not in the System Preferences Network Settings page.
I used to connect my phone to my Mac via USB and opt to use the USB Only option for HotSpot with the Mac WIFI off. The blue bar on the phone comes on indicating that HotSpot is working. It has worked for me like that until 6.1.2. Since then the USB Only option does not work and I have to use WIFI on both the phone and the Mac. If I'm lucky, I get a connection and can get my mail and do some surfing before it drops the connection. The blue bar that comes up on the phone is there indicating the hotspot is on, but the connection is lost. A dozen or so resets, of either my Mac or my phone, later and I might get a connection again. That's no way to do business.
All I did was update the phone when it told me there was an update available. Did I miss something?

  • IOS 6.0.1 WiFi Issue

Ugh, after updating my iPad 3 to iOS 6.0.1 I thought that bugs like WiFI problem will be fixed , but I was so Disappointed that its not yet fixed. After a minute of standby mode of the iPad ,WiFi is turning off and then. When I wake it up, WiFi is off but later In a second wifi will turn on. C'mon apple...

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • My macbook pro and iphone4 after newest ios update has had wifi issues, very very snail pace slow

um i recently last week? updated my macbook pro and my iphone 4 to lastest ios, and ever since then my wifi has been slow,
by this i mean, when i click anything, it takes a long long time to load a page, and even my facebook (arrived via bookmarks bar) so i load the same way as before, page often loads imcomplete, or not at all, on my iphone its so bad i cant even check my email, or the weather app, but on my ipod4, it works fine, cuz i have not updated the ios on the ipod touch 4th gen
is anyone else having these issues? so far ive been able to confirm (via xbox 360) that wifi signal is fine, strong and normal..... did apple screw up my devices? and if so? please tell me how i fix this, streaming my weekly 13 episodes of tv shows is now like dead slow, with every 5-8 seconds of video watching, theres another 30-40 seconds of SPINNING circle... i am so fed up
im a creature of habit, ive not changed the way i do things, the location of my computer, nothing, everything is as it was 2 weeks ago.... some-buddy help!?

I refer you to the TM expert
    http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/14.html
As a extra precaution I would copy the user file folders of Music, Documents, Pictures etc to another external drive and disconnect, just in case.
Always maintain TWO backups of your data at all times, since your messing with one, you need another until your back at two again.

  • IOS 6.1.2 WIFI Issue with Iphone 4s

SInce I updated my phone to ios 6.1.2 my wifi gets dropped or the button itself gets greyed out. I dont know what to do. Shuld wait for ios 6.1.3 or what?
This is the first time i am facing such an issue.  Apple customer care is also not able to solve the issue? Why every now and then this happens with apple device ?
Does apple takes its users for granted by releasing its software without having proper checks?
However it is quite surprising to know that my Ipad 4th Generation is working fine with 6.1.2. software.
Please help if anyone knows the solution.

Go to settings, reset, reset network settings. As the other suggestion said.
If its greyed out here is a link below.

  • IPhone 4S and this iOS 7.1 update - wifi issues

Well first it happened to my wife's 4S on iOS 6 updates, and now me on iOS 7.1 update - lost the wifi capability on my 4S too.  I've looked through the various posts on these forums of people suffering the same problem over and over and over again.  "Mr Apple" if these updates are not compatible with certain devices then at least have the common decency to tell us so.  I for one have had enough of sticking iPhones in the freezer every other day, and I'm certainly not going to do that with two broken 4S's now.  So I'm off to the Samsung store to buy a Galaxy.....  nuff said......

    Hi,
I have an IPhone 4 and I updated it to IOS 7.1 about a week ago and since this update the IPhone keeps on rebooting every time I use apps such as Facebook, Twitter or Whatsapp. It is very annoying to see your IPhone reboot twice or more times a day while you are working and it seems that a plausible solution is to go back to the previous version of IOS. If you have a different solution, please let us know because I'm not the only IPhone user with this problem. Thanks!

  • IPod Touch 2g/iOs 4.2.1/wifi issue

I have updated my iPod Touch 2G to iOS 4.2.1, it shows the network  in range but when i try to connect(entering the WEP code) it shows me 'Unable to connect to the network'.....I can connect to the same network with my PSP and Mobile.
    Pls. help out. !

    Try:
    - Resetting your iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Powering off and then bck on your router
    - Resetting network settings on the iPod: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings.

  • Iphone 4s update to ios 6.0.1 wifi issue

I updated my iphone 4s to the latest firmware 6.0.1 and now my phone can't find any wifi connections at all in any place. Not even at home. It doesn't pick up any wifi signal.

From what I saw in the forums here there is 64 pages alone on ONE thread about those problems - that's A LOT of cases.
It should be possible to identify the possibly defective phones by their serial number ranges.
For an hardware error only, it's a mystery that the update destroyed so many devices.
Also, when the mobile is owned for more than 12 months, the owner is screwed, as the update is at his own risk - but then I don't want Apple to nag me about the update in the system settings. Why can't it be turned off then ?!
The best possible user experience, it still sounds in my ears ... where has that philosophy gone??

  • IPad 3, iOS 5.1.1, wifi issues- just today

I have an iPad 3 running on ios5.1.1
Yesterday I synced it to my computer to renew my backups.
Today i arrived from work and went on the iPad to find out that i cannot load any pages that uses internet, like Safari, i cannot open pages at all.
I can see that the wifi is being dropped and connected to repeatedly. I turned off wifi for a minute and turned it on, tried to connect to my router and its taking a long time to connect, sometimes never connecting at all.
    I have done the following:
Rebooted iPad(press sleep>slide>...>press in to turn on)
    Turned wifi on and off
    Rebooted my router(6x)
Disconnected all wired and wireless devices that were connected to the router.
Connected to my iPhone 5's 'Personal Hotspot'= I was able to open pages on Safari.
Is there anybody out here that is having same problem as me?
    Whats wrong with it?
    What should i do?

    go into your router manager:
    type 192.168.0.1 into your browser,
log in as the administrator (default is usernamer=admin; password=password)
you should find a "check for upgrades" or something similar and follow the instructions

When is 6.1.3 coming ? any idea?

  • WiFi issues with iPhone 4S & ios 6 update

    Okay here is my issue...
I've been reading alot of issues that people have with connecting to WiFi with their new iPhone 5, iPhone 4S or other devices but I have no trouble connecting to WiFi at all. My problem is that WiFi wont 'work'. The WiFi I'm hooked up to at home doesn't let me do basically anything that requires internet.
I can get on the Facebook app fine and my newsfeed loads but I can't see Facebook notifications, upload photos or videos, read inboxes, look at photos, its very slow etc.
I can't get into the App Store or iTunes at all. It says it 'Cannot Connect to iTunes Store' when I try.
I can't upload photos onto Instagram
Currently I'm into the Simpsons Tapped Out game and I can't go onto it at all.
And there are a few other minor issues I am having.
All these things I can do with my Telstra 3G network however and it ***** because I want to use and do all these things but I have to use my 3G and I've just recently gone over my data monthly usage and been charged extra which I'm not happy about.
So is anyone else having these issues or is it just me and I'm stuffed? I'd REALLY love some help.
I've been lost with what to do because as some are having WiFi issues as well, mine isnt the same and it's hard to find answers or just other discussions.
    Please Help!
    Thankyou.

I am having the same issue since updating to iOS 6.  It has been noticeable on my iPhone 4S and a little less noticeable on my iPad 3 but I think it is happening on the iPad too.  Very annoying problem.  One way to get it to work better is to re-boot your phone.  It will work for awhile then and then eventually not be working anymore and you will need to re-boot again.
Just to be clear with everyone - the iPhone looks like it is connected to the wireless, it gets an IP address but can't transmit any data.  Device:  iPhone 4S, OS:  iOS6

  • IPhone 4S/iOS 7.0.4/WiFi Grey Out Issues

My iPhone 4S (64GB memory/ATT) was working beautifully on iOS 5.1.1.  WiFi connected seamlessly with Access Points at home, work, etc.
Then I made the mistake of wirelessly updating to iOS 7.0.4.  Instantly the WiFi stopped working and the <Settings>, <WiFi> tab was greyed out and non-responsive.  Oddly the WiFi tab on the Control Panel was responsive, but did not actually activiate the WiFi chip or open a connection to the WiFi antenna.  Accordingly, there is no option to find or connect to a WiFi network.
Most other features appear to work, including the ATT cellular service and Bluetooth connection.  However, the iPhone is slow to respond to some apps,   For example, tapping <Settings> takes 5-6 seconds for a response whereas with iOS 5.1.1 the response was instantaneous.  Also a few apps (even after updating) and a couple of iOS pages now cause the iPhone to go blank for a few seconds or crash.
Sounded like either an iOS or firmware issue to me.
I followed all of the Apple and ATT suggestions, including:
-Confirming that the iPhone is not in Airplane mode.
-Turning the iPhone off, waiting, and restarting.
-Forcing a hard restart of the iPhone by holding the <Silent> and <Home> keys simultaneously for 7 seconds.
-Resetting the network settings by tapping <Settings>, <General>, <Reset>, and <Reset Network Settings>.
-Checking for a newer iOS (none).
At the suggestion of a couple of ATT support representatives, I tried even more drastic measures:
    -Resetting all settings by tapping <Settings>, <General>, <Reset>, and <Reset All Settings>.
-Resetting all content and settings by tapping <Settings>, <General>, <Reset>, and <Reset All Content and Settings>.
-Backing up, Restoring iOS and firmware, and Restoring applications and data using iTunes.
-Restoring iOS and firmware using iTunes, and then setting up as a new iPhone.
-Turning off iPhone, waiting while ATT pushed a new switch data pack to iPhone, and then restarting iPhone.
Actually I did all of these "fixes" at least twice with the same result:  still a greyed out and non-responsive <Settings> <WiFi> tab with no WiFi signal.
Apple and ATT's ultimate solution was predictable:   Buy a new 64 GB iPhone 5 for several hundred dollars (plus numerous proprietary cables) and forget the 47 GB of data, photos, etc. lost beta-testing their iOS and "fixes".
Any "fixes" that I missed or other suggestions?

ChrisJ4203, thanks very much for your input.  I don't mean to turn this post into an endless debate, but frankly I am still having a hard time believing that the WiFi died as a result of a hardware failure.
My logic might be flawed, but here it is:
While the iPhone 4S got very hot when wirelessly downloading and installing iOS 7.0.4 over the WiFi network, the WiFi chip and antenna had to be functional to complete the wireless iOS update.  Apple was very clear that iOS 7.0.4 is too large to download and install via cellular service.  Accordingly it would appear that any hardware failure had to occur in the few minutes between the download/installation of iOS 7.0.4 and its first use.  That window of opportunity is incredibly small in an otherwise flawless hardware performance.  I am not a big believer in long shot coincidences, so a WiFi hardware malfunction seems highly improbable to me, but not impossible.  A firmware/iOS conflict still seems more plausible to me.
I also don't read much into Apple's "out-of-warranty" replacement offer at $199.  AT&T tells me that anyone walking in off the street (with or without a hardware or iOS malfunction) would receive the same offer.
I appreciate that some iPhone 4S users did not experience any WiFi issues when they updated to iOS 7.0.4, but such difference could easily be explained if Apple used more than one WiFi chip and/or firmware in the iPhone 4S series.  Such an explanation would also account for iOS 7.0.4 (and 7.0.6) not recognizing the WiFi chip after the iOS update.
Still perplexed, but thanks again for your kind efforts to help.
Wonder if I can limp along long enough to spend my money on an Apple iPhone 6 ... but then again I don't want to be anyone's beta-tester.
I am tempted to switch to a Samsung Galaxy or some other smartphone as long as I will be buying new accessories, but frankly I don't want to waste my time learning a new OS or core apps.
