IOS 6.1.3 wifi problems

Hi, and i have been having problems with wifi and ios 6.1.3. I log in to my wifi, hit join, and it says "Unable to join the network *****". Then i hit join a few more times, and it works. Why is this? I have a Cisco Linksys E3200 router. Is there a problem with iPads and cisco routers?

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app
    •    Tap on Wi-Fi
    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Nah... there simply is not iOS 6 Wi-Fi problem with the 4S.  I have not experienced any issues and neither has anyone else I know with iPhones.
User's like yourself really should drop the attitude and try some basic troubleshooting.

  • Ios 7.1 ipad wifi problems

Since updating my ipad 2 to ios 7.1 I am unable to connect to my wifi. I have tried all the fixes found on the community discussions. Nothing works!   I need my ipad and when it's down I'm losing money!  I'm sure other ipad users are haviing the same problems .....please help!

Reading through the various threads it seems that there is a serious problem of wifi connectivity with some iPads.
For example the one I am using now drops the wifi connection every few minutes.
My partner, sitting next to me, has no problem whatsoever with her iPad.
I have seen co called 'solutions' such as changing router settings, etc., but this doesn't explain how all the other Android phones,PC's, wifi enabledq printers, etc., that are connected to the same network, do not experience this problem.
I've tried calling Apple to no avail and I see that one of the threads on here has now reached 140 or so pages, all about the same problem.
I called Apple again today and they actually hung up on me, after keeping me on hold for 3-4 minutes.
I guess it is time for some drastic action.
I'm now trying to find out who Apple use as their accreditation body for the international Quality Assurance Standard, ISO 9001.
As part of this policy they should have a well defined and recorded Customer Complaint procedure, and should be able to demonstrate how they deal with customer complaints.
Hanging up on customers isn't really a recognised method!
I am also taking this up with Trading Standards here in the UK, as the iPod I have is not really fit for purpose due to the fact it drops any wifi connection after a few minutes.
I used to consider Apple a reputable and ethical company but no longer hold that view.
It isn't simply that that they will not deal with this problem; there appear to be many thousands of people out there in the same situation and Apple don't appear to be even acknowledging this problem.
I urge people to take the same action if possible. Find out who Apple use for ISO 9001 and write to or email them with a complaint that Apple's customer complaint procedure does not appear to be working.
These large corporates tend to take things that much more seriously when they think they may lose their Quality accreditation.
Steve Jobs wouldn't have tolerated this sort of situation!

  • Ios 6.1.3 WIFI problem

Hi! I just got a new Iphone 4s back from repair, a new replacment phone. So I updated the hardware to the new IOS 6.1.3 and after that I cant activate my WIFI, the WIFI button is greyed, so the WIFI is unavailable. So what should I do? Send my 3days old Iphone to service agian or what? I personaly think it the new IOS 6.1.3 so please help me

    Hi,
I sympathise with you as my iPhone 4s is 7 months old and is also greyed out.  I tried everthing except the potentially stupid one of putting the iphone in a freezer!  I took the phone back to the vendor who sent it away and repaired it.  But alas after a month it is greyed out again.  I have again returned to the vendor and he will repair it again.  I asked him how and he told me it is a software conflict and he has to spend around 9 hours downloading a patch repair.  Apple are aware of this issue and I feel completely let down because they have not posted a fix on the net.  Presently I am living and working in Dubai, back in the UK I am sure my iPhone would have been exchanged for a new one.  I need my iPhone for my work and cannot afford to just buy a new one so I have been let down and despite for years being a supporter of Apple and their products I shall think twice before investing in any more Apple products.

  • IOS 5.1.1 wifi problem

I upgraded to IOS 5.1.1 2 days back. Eversince can not use wifi. The wifi sign appears but safari or mail or other functions do not connect to internet. I have tried to restore factory settings, network settings etctetra but no result. However the cellular service is working fine.
    Please advise.

You must completly restore your device from itunes, it is possible during your update something was corrupt, it happens every now and then. Also does your wifi work normally out of your home?

  • IPad iOS 4.2.1 WIFI problems (Server cannot connect)

my iPad is experiencing problems where after 5 minutes of browsing pages stop loading and I get an error saying cannot connect to server. any ideas? my router is lnksys and this is getting really annoying to renew cache evey 3 minutes.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
One solution that has helped some users of Linksys and Belkin routers in particular is to power cycle the router. Make sure it is completely shutdown, not just reset.
Then reset the network in the iPad.
And if the problem persists, change channels in the router, there may be interference from another network causing part of the problem.

Re: ios 7.1 ipad wifi problems
    Mar 26, 2014 7:35 PM (in response to pjl1005)
I have several IOS devices and updated each of them to Apple's release of IOS 7.1.
Unfortunately my iPhone 4s did not update successfully. It was affected by the widely reported issue regarding WiFi being disabled permanently. After the update to IOS 7.1, wifi is no longer an accessible option on the IPhone 4s.
After doing some online research and identifying this as a common problem, I tried some of the suggestions available online such as resetting settings and restoring from backup. None of these suggestions worked.
I brought the iPhone 4s to the apple store at the Rideau Center in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and spoke to one of the employees. He stated that it was not an apple issue and that it was a problem with my phone that would cost $200 to resolve. He said that it was not a problem related to the ios 7.1 update and that it was a "coincidence" that it happened at the same time as the update to ios 7. 1 and was probably an issue with the wifi chip.
It is surprising to me that applying an update recommended by apple and using the iPhone 4s in the manner in which it was designed (using wifi) would cause this basic function (wifi) to cease to function.
Wifi is an essential part of my day to day use of this device. I am appalled that apple is denying the problem and has no resolution for it.
If anyone else this problem, please go to your nearest apple store and let this forum know your experience in getting the issue resolved.

  • How come they still haven't fixed the ios 6 wifi problem on ios 6.0.1 making me mad -.-

I know apple or the tech support doesn't read this but come on tell them to fix the wifi problem that started from ios 6 and still continuing to ios 6.0.1. I already gave them another feedback like 5 days ago. I really don't want to reconnect to my wifi everytime. I already did everything possibly to fix my wifi problem. I know its IOS 6.0.1 because it started with ios 6 and still not fixed by apple update to 6.0.1.
I have a very limit data plan of 300 MB on at&t and I don't want to go over so I rely on my wifi most of the time.

Maybe you just lucked out but both my devices running ios 6.0.1 have wifi problems shutting of at random times during sleep. I know you guys will say when its plugged in it doesn't lose wifi true but I never remember having this problem in the previous ios verison from ios 4 to 5(On my Iphone 4, and from my Iphone 4s from IOS 5) until I updated both devices to ios 6  or even when I had a iTouch 3rd gen long time ago I never remember it shutting of my wifi. I am telling you this never happened before IOS 6 where I need to leave it plugged in just to have my wifi during wake up.

I thought I believed my iPhone 4 with iOS5.0 would not disconnect during sleep mode. However, I was wrong. What I did was to ping the IP addresses on my iPhone 4 (iOS5) and iPhone 5 (iOS 6 then, and iOS6.0.1 now) when they were in sleep mode. Very true that there were timed-out on both devices. Once I woke them up, ping went thru. I did a scan on my home network using my iPad while the other 2 phones were in sleep mode, I was not able to see them.
I thought my iPhone4 did not disconnect too. But again, I think the reconnecting to wifi on iOS 5 is SO MUCH quicker than on iOS6 so user would think there was never a disconnect.

  • HT4623 I down loaded ios 7 to my wifes ipad 2  but because of the streamlined look my wife can bearly see the letters and numbers on the key board because of an eyesight problem  She had no problem with the old keyboard.  Is there a way to make the letter

I downloaded ios 7 to my wifes ipad 2.  The only problem was, with the new system the letters and numbers on the keyboard became so streamlined that my wife had trouble seeing them because of a eye problem.  Is there a way to get the old keyboard back and if not how do you uninstall ios 7?

I had thought this situation was solved but it just got worse. In addition to being without service for several days I am now being charged  a cancellation fee for a broadband service that BT disconnected in error. BT Vision was also terminated by BT but the set up charges are still in place. Does anyone know who the relevant Ombudsman is? I called BT from America on Friday - for an hour - while someone called Aruj sorted out why there is an order 'in progress' that I didn't initiate; why I have fees relating to a problem created by BT and why there are references to a house move that didn't take place and a BT Vision service I no longer have but didn't cancel myself. He assured me it would be rectified and my bill would be reduced by 139 pounds and we would get confirmation of this later that day. I asked him what chance there was that this would not actually happen - he said no chance at all; my new bill would be 23.50.
There was no text message. An online chat person today told me there had been a fee reduction request which had been declined and there was nothing else he could help me with as he dealt only with broadband. But he would get BT Vision to email me. They always seem so helpful.............
I'm sure I'm listed somewhere as 'a problem', there's no other explanation for why I get the runaround

  • IPad mini retina. After upgrade to iOS 8 and after to 8.0.2 I can't use my iPad because of wifi problem!

After upgrade to iOS 8 and after to 8.0.2 I can't use my iPad because of wifi problem

I am having a similar experience.  Since upgrading my Ipad 2 to iOS 8 and then iOS 8.0.2 I have not been able to use wifi consistently and it is very frustrating.  I can no longer watch any video because the wifi shuts down and won't come back without a complete reboot of the iPad. And forget about consistent bluetooth!  My ipad worked perfect before the "upgrade" to iOS 8 and beyond but now it is really worthless.  I have spent a lot of time and have tried every fix that I have read about online and NOTHING has corrected the problems created by the upgrade.  After spending a lot of time trying to resolve this I am certain the problem is the buggy "upgrade" but I feel like no one at Apple is listening.  I have always loved Apple products but this rotten Apple experience is making me think about exploring what else is out there.  Apple folks, I recommend getting this fixed quick or your stockholders won't be smiling!
