IOS 6.1 editing contacts photo crash

Hello. I think this may be a user-wide 6.1 issue, meaning everyone with an iPhone 5 and iOS 6.1 (at least) are susceptible to this bug/crash.
Normally when I edit my contacts and give that contact a photo, I would copy the thumbnail (little square) from the camera roll album, without actually opening the full-size photo. After doing this, I would go into Contacts > Edit and longpress over the "add photo" and putting "paste" would drop the thumbnail into the contact. Reason behind this was so that when I get a call from any contact, I get a small thumbnail photo as opposed to their big face/large photo appearing on my phone (I just find this more refined). It worked fine in the past, as I often am adding new photos to my contacts.
Today however I tried the same and discovered that I am experiencing a fully-reproducible crash... go ahead and try it. Go to your camera roll, copy any of your thumbnail photos (don't open the photo), then go to Contacts (or Phone) app, Edit, and paste it over the "add photo" (or existing photo). This will instantly cause the Contacts/Phone app to crash, without saving any data you have edited within that contact by that time. It's very frustrating because it means I can't edit my contact pictures at all by this method, no matter where the photo originates from or what contact/type of contact I'm editing. (FYI: All contacts of mine sync through iCloud)
I have tried power cycling the iPhone (turn off/on), rebooting (holding sleep+home), and jettisoning all my apps. Nothing fixes the issue, so I have come to the conclusion that it must be an iOS 6.1 bug, at least on the iPhone 5. If anyone has any solutions, recommendations, or has also experienced this... please help.

I ran into the same problem on iOS 6.1 on an iPhone 4S. Same repro steps except that I copied my image from within Safari. I agree that this method of adding images is best as it avoids having to safe the image you want to use to the photos app.

Editing Contacts Photos

So if you have been noticing in the Apple iPhone photos on www.Apple.com they show an outgoing call with their contacts picture in the upper right. Now if i set a contacts photo it always appears in teh background of the call, not in the upper right. How do i set it so when i call ther persons pic appears in the upper right corer and my wallpaper appears behind the call?

If you set a contacts photo with the iPhone, it appears full size in the background with the caller ID.
If you want it the contact's photo in the upper right like the Apple iPhone photos, set your contact's photo with Address Book only and not with the iPhone.

Smart Albums don't display in Photos App, only when edit Contacts Photo

I created a Smart Photo Album on my Macbook Pro and synced it to my iPhone4. When I open the Photos App, the smart album isn't listed but when I edit a Contact's photo by clicking on the Choose Photo button, the Smart Album is listed along with all the other albums.
But when I just go to the Photos App on it's own, the Smart Album is still not there.
Anyone have a similar problem?

HT2486 Editing contact photos in Address Book doesn't work

Whenever I try to edit a contact picture in Address Book, the edits don't hold. I might reframe or recrop the image, and then click "done." And everything seems to be fine, for two or three seconds. Then it simply snaps back and reverts to the way it was. Sometimes after it reverts, it also shifts upward in the square, leaving a large black space at the bottom of the frame.
Why is this happening and how can it be stopped?!

Quit Address Book and go into your Library/Application Support/AddressBook folder and delete AddressBook-v22.abcddb. Open Address Book and it should recreate the index. See if that makes a difference.

All contacts, photos and apps deleted after updating to IOS 6

After updating my 4s to IOS 6 all my contacts, photos and apps were deleted. I even tried connecting to itunes and restoring to backup with no luck. Any idea how I can re-gain all my contacts, photos and apps?

Use iTune to update your apps.
Check for Updates (bottom right) in iTune. When download is completed, sync to iPad.

We'll need a lot more info before we can help.
You'll have to manually determine whether Photoshop CS4 is updated to version 11.0.2 (the Adobe auto updater is most unreliable in CS4), and give us plenty of other information.

IPhoto crashes every time I try to edit a photo.

I just added photos to my iPad from my camera and now when I try to edit them iPhoto crashes and the editing is lost. Any suggestions?

You. Ought try removing the recently uploaded photos then Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the iPhoto app until it wiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then restart the app and see if it works normally.
If iPhoto then works correctly try reloading the photos. If iPhoto again fails then I would bet there is a corrupt photo causing your problem. You'll have to go through a trial and error routine to find that photo.
Another thing to consider is how much free space you have on your iPad. If the photos you added filled up the iPad then many apps will have difficulty running in the low storage space environment.

Mail App Crash with Contact Photos

i use Mac OS X 10.10 and my Mail App is crashing every time i use contact photos.
If i want to open a mail from one of my contacts with a picture, Mail App is crashs ...
If i want to show contact photos in my E-Mail List, the Mail App crashes every time i open it.

If you have a gmail, yahoo, or even icloud etc. account go into settings>mail, contacts and make sure you're not syncing through yahoo for example.. Turn that off, if that still doesn't work delete the yahoo account and simply set up the account again..will add the + & edit functions again..

Aperture 3 keeps crashing or freezing in the middle of editing a photo. I am trying to start editing a shoot I did but I can't even finish one picture without it crashing. Please help!!!

I'm trying to finish a start editing a photo shoot I did yesterday and I've been editing with Aperture for a several months without a problem until a couple of weeks ago. I think there was an update somewhere in there and not I cannot even finish one picture, as it freezes or crashes on me every single time. It does not save anything that I have already edited and I have to start over from scratch only to have it crash on me again. I have updated my ram which helped with the slowness I was experiencing back in January. I need help fast!

Mildly amusing that the instructions for force-closing a program are the IOS 6 instructions, which do not work on IOS 7.
Otherwise I'm having a little success with this. Some apps (not all) are updating. It seems that a few more apps update each time I go through the process (close everything, sign out, and either reset or reboot, then go to the app store, sign in and try to update all). So far it has been a very lengthy, iterative process.

Do you have the iCloud set up? If you don't you need to buy a third party software that will do it for you when you plug your phone into the new computer. You can google: iPad/iPhone/iPod to Computer Transfer. You have to pay for the software but it's really a life saver and you get free updates for life. It'll save you a lot of pain and suffering in the future. I've used it many times.

I went to the link. I selected iPHONE. There was a big iPhone icon above the comment box -- so I was absolutely, positively on the right page. I spent five minutes or so crafting a constructive comment as to why I wanted the full photo feature back on incoming calls on iOS7. Then...i noticed the box below the comment area asked 'What operating system are you on?'. And the drop down selection list included every operating system since Job's garage days -- but not one single iOS entry. No iOS entries on an iphone page. Unless I'm missing something, I think anyone writing a feedback comment is wasting his/her time.
