Ios 6.1 iTunes Match problems: (1) switch off (2) unplayable tracks

The new ios 6.1 operating system has reintroduced single downloads to iTunes Match but seems to have added some serious new problems:
(1) Switching off iTunes Match on the iPhone 4S seems to have no effect. The Music app still pulls from the Cloud. I've tried restarts etc.
(2) Many whole albums that had previously been successfully uploaded to iTunes Match and which were playable and downloadable on the phone before are now unusable. They show as bold listings in the track lists (ie they should be downloaded) and have no download arrows next to them. However when trying to play, the app just skips past them all without managing to play.
(3) The "skipping" past issue seems to be happening with a large number of other tracks, whether downloaded or not.

I have had no problems with iTunes Match, until I updated to 6.1, it seems to work fine on my 4s but on my 4th gen ipad certain songs in the cloud won't play, when I click on it, skips to the next song when it worked just fine in 6.0... I searched for the song in iTunes and it says "play", but when I click on it the screen either turns completely black, with just the date and time at the top, or it goes back to the music app and skips to the next track....weird.... And everything plays just fine on my 4S running 6.1

  • Can't download music - seems to be an iTunes Match problem

I have iTunes Match activated, which is working fine on my iPad and iPhone.  However I cannot download purchased music onto the iMac.
In my household there is a shared iMac and each user has a different login & password.  Only I know my login password.  I have been using iTunes successfully on it for years, and have been using iTunes successfully for about 6 months now.  Auto-download has been disabled for several months now because I don't want everything downloaded automatically.  All has been fine until about a fortnight ago when the iMac stopped downloading newly purchased music whenever I clicked the little iCloud icon.  This is for music that I have successfully purchased and downloaded on my iPhone whilst at work, and now want to listen to at home.  Whenever I click the iCloud icon to download the new song I get an error message telling me that the computer is already associated with an Apple ID, and I have to wait 54 days etc to sign in with a new Apple ID.  However I'm certain no other Apple ID has been used with my account - when I go to the Store menu it is showing my current and correct Apple ID.
The most telling proof that my Apple ID is correct on both iMac and iPhone (and iPad as well) is that when I plug the iPhone into the iMac, the new music syncs across EXACTLY as it should - and it can then be played without problems.  Both the phone and the computer are correctly logged in to the same Apple ID, which is the same Apple ID that I use for iTunes Match.  Also when I click Store -> Update iTunes Match there appears to be no Apple ID conflict.
Obviously this is an iTunes Match problem which I cannot resolve, can someone please provide assistance / advice.
(iPhone 4 with iOS 6, iMac mid 2010 with Mountain Lion 10.8.2, single Apple ID for iTunes Store, iTunes Match and iCloud).

i have an ipod 4 can i connect to pc and, using itunes match, store all music off ipod and then transfer to a new ipod 5?

    hI, bella
I also met this issue a few days ago and I finally find out how to transfer music from iPod to computer:
    1. Plug your iPod in and wait for the computer to recognize it.
    2. Open up 'My Computer' and under 'Devices With Removable Storage', double click and open apple iPod.
    3. Click on 'Tools' at the top of the window and drag down to 'Folder Options'.
    4. Under the 'View' tab, find the subfolder called 'Hidden files and folders'.
    5. Select the option 'Show hidden files and folders'.
    6. Click 'OK'.

  • How do you 'switch off' audio destination tracks?

I'm at the beginning of lesson 13 in FCE 4 Editing Workshop and am perplexed by the instruction to 'switch off destination tracks A1 and A2' by clicking on the buttons at the head of each track. There are several things that could be called 'buttons' in the patch panel. first there is a green circle with a speaker graphic which I assume is to 'mute the track, next there is a left-rounded shape with the lettering a1 in it which separates from the right-rounded shape with A1 in it if I click on it, I don't think that is the button either, next, there is a lock shape which I assume is to lock the track from modification and I don't think that is the button to switch the track off either, next is a funny square with rectangles on four sides which seems to do nothing if I click on it but become filled or not filled.
Which, if any, of these graphical buttons should I be choosing to switch off the destination track? What appearance change will I see in the button between being on or off?
    TIA,
    Ken

Possibly, but I agree with your book mostly on this subject that Editing is best learned by editing. This then means that the actual working with FCE is best learned by digging in and doing it, which naturally brings me to the many points which are not clear. These forums are the saving grace for users like me I do believe. A DVD would be incomprehensible to me because while I am working, I have the book right next to me with pages open, going along at the pace where it sinks in. I don't think a DVD could do any better of a job and I would still be here seeking clarification on points that were not quite understood.

  • Problems with iOS 6.1 iTunes Match

As an iTunes Match subscriber, I have enjoyed the ability to stream my music library from the cloud instead of having to download it to my iPhone. However, with the latest update (iOS 6.1) it appears it no longer works the same way. Instead, it appears as though I have to download my music. After I updated to 6.1, I went into my Music app and noticed that I now had the option to download individual tracks or whole albums--which is fine. It's nice to have that option back. However whereas I used to be able to select an album or track (even if it wasn't already downloaded) and 'stream' it without having to download it, I no longer had that option and all my music was grayed out. What's worse, upon discovering this, I went into Settings>Music and toggled off the 'iTunes Match' and 'Show All Music' options and then toggled them back on, thinking I just had to 're-set' my options. NOT SO! Now when I go back into my Music app, none of my music shows up!!!
So, is anyone else having this problem? If so, have you been able to find a solution?

    Warning... Long and Thorough.
I've had iTunes Match for about a year, and I hate how I can't listen to anything but B sides on my iPhone, basically the music that *****, which really ****** me off. I have a commute that is more than an hour each way. If a song matches on iTunes, it greys on iPhone and I can no longer play it, except on my PC iTunes. The songs that don't match on iTunes, are basically the b side types that noone cares about, and that's all that's left. So I'll cue up a hot track to get me pumped up for work, and iPhone will display the track title briefly, then skip to a song it can play. So instead of the hot radio hits I want to hear I am forced to listen to celtic music, classic, or opera. It f'n *****. I hate iTunes Match. It does NOT do what it promised. I can't believe I paid Apple to f*** up my iPhone music library. I have a frigging 32GB phone with nothing but crap music on it. Music is my life, it gets me going. Only swear words can properly express what I'd like to say to the iTunes Match developers.
I have a new iPhone 4s 32GB as the speaker died Feb 2013 and Apple replaced the phone free under warranty. See my other posts for this lovely experience.
My MP3 music library is a mixture of ripped CDs, and tracks I bought in iTunes on the PC and iPhone. I don't do AAC or any format other than mp3. My iOS and iTunes software is always up to date. I am computer savvy, much more so than my peers. I have been reading this iTunes Match community board off and on trying to find a fix.
So I should be able to fix this myself, right? I tried a few things, but none of these worked. I'm posting hoping someone has a clue how to fix this.
Clicking on the Download to iCloud button on a problem album (using U2 - Boy as my example; where more than half the tracks are grey and unplayable), all that happened was the iCloud icon disappeared. For all steps I made sure in PC iTunes that all songs of this album were checked to sync.
Did a hard reset, and my iPhone still has greyed, unplayable music.
So next, connected to by wifi and by sync cord, in iPhone I turned off iTunes Match
    - went to settings > iTunes and Apps Store
    - signed out of my Apple ID
    - and signed back in
    - turned Match back on
    and no change.
So next, connected to wifi and sync cord, I
    - in iPhone, toggled off then back on all Music and iTunes Match options
    - made sure Use Cellular Data was on and set iTunes to on
    - turned off wifi, turned on cellular data
    - searched for U2 by artist and clicked Download All
    - the same songs are still greyed, and still unplayable
Normally I could just shut off iTunes Match for good, rerip my CDs, then sync the device, but this is not an option because
    - I'm a Veteran, who moved across country last October to be closer to family, putting my house's contents into storage, including my hundreds of CDs. I found a new job (I'm an ER nurse) but it will take time to get back on my feet and move items from storage across country. Moving ain't cheap.
    - the reason I got iTunes Match in the first place was for help accessing my huge music library, when it wouldn't fit on a 32GB. Since even early versions iPhone, I've known to uncheck less popular music so it won't sync, saving space, so it's not like that's a problem.
I'm good with technology, but I can't get this Match thing to work in my favor. Which ***** because my specialty is ER Psych. My patients are any combination of depressed, suicidal, homeless, substance abusing, self-overdosed, self-inflicting harm, under the influence, fighting with security, under a police warrant, threatening, psychotic, or my personal favorite, just plain BSC... Bat S*** Crazy. If anyone needs to get pumped up for work, it's an ER Psych Specialist. Match has let me down, big time. If ever there's a class action lawsuit citing 100% false advertising, count me in.

  • ITunes Match problem with accessing all my songs on all my IOS devises

Why are some of my iTunes purchased songs not able to be synced with iTunes match? I can access the songs on my iMac but not on my iPhone. I'm not happy about this and I'm thinking I made a terrible mistake buying iTunes Match

Cause you data got corrupted during either upload, matching process or download. Most likely first two, since you already tried to download to ipad as well.  Decision to use or not use match is up to you.
    Good bye.

  • Solved my iTunes Match problems on iOS 7

I updated both my iPhone 4S and iPad (3rd gen Retina) to iOS7 on Sept 19. I use iTunes Match, and observed 3 different issues:
Some songs on my iPhone wouldn't play
Some album artwork on my iPhone wouldn't appear
Radio option didn't appear on the iPad
All are solved, so I am sharing what I did. I have an iTunes Match library of about 22,000 songs.
iPhone: I tried turning iTunes Match on an off to no avail. I then set the Music to NOT "Show All Music", and observed that I had several hundred songs loaded in the Music app, some of which were songs that were giving me grief by not playing. Wishing to start fresh, I went to Settings - Usage and looked for the Music app in order to delete all local files. It was not there! This told me that the OS incorrectly thought there was no local music - a database error. But how to delete a database that the system won't acknowledge?
So I went to the iTunes Store and downloaded a previously purchased album. Going back into Settings - Usage, the Music app now appeared, showing the total file size for the newly downloaded album. I deleted all music from the app, and it worked - the Music app was empty. I turned iTunes Match back ON and poof! Everything loaded back in and after a while all my album artwork was back, and all songs played normally, whether locally stored or streamed. Problem solved by finding a way to completely delete the music database and start over.
iPad: No radio, soap. Sorry, I couldn't help that bad joke.
The Music app on the iPad did not have a Radio button. I forced the iPad to restart (hold Home and Screen Lock buttons together for 5 seconds) and when I restarted Music, Radio appeared for a second and then disappeared (!!). I quit Music and restarted it. The Radio button appeared and I quickly hit it, which brought me to the "get started" screen for Radio. Problem solved by repeated restarts (which probably cleared some temp data, allowing the button to appear).
I don't know if either of these will help others, but if so then great!
P.S. - the rest of iOS 7 is working very well on both devices, no complaints worth noting. Nice new stuff.

iPhone5 and iPad 3 both suffering from "Loading iTunes Match..." message forever.
    Can't do anything.
Personally, I think the Apple Keynotes/Events should be done on launch day so they can feel our pain and suffering.  Imagine them standing up there trying to launch the new Music app and getting stuck on this.
Pathetic.  What's worse is that the 5S and 5C come out Friday, so that's a billion more people setting up new phones and hitting the match and music and app servers.
It'll probably be a week before things start to settle down.

  • ATV 2 IOS 5.0.2 with ITunes Match problems...

My ATV2 with IOS 5.0.2 has a problem with of ITunes match. The music aborts again and again. Up to the restart. Everything else runs perfectly. I put already the ATV new. But still the same problem.
In various forums I already read over the problem. There said the problem is because of iTunes match. What can i make? _but be of ITunes match genuine too expensive.
    Thanks Gelberlemmy

It seems like the problem was just solved. I had to go into my lockdown folder (see point number 6: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2529) and delete all the stuff in there.
The error message said: "Failed to start sync with iPhone (Name)".
It was a bit longer but that is the basic content.

  • ITunes Match problem with Mastered for iTunes tracks

My question is, has anyone solved the problem I'm describing here?
My wife bought an album (David Bowie, The Next Day, it's great), as a Mastered for iTunes album, under her Apple ID. I copied the album to my computer using Home Sharing. My computer is authorized with both of our Apple IDs.
I have iTunes Match activated on my Apple ID. This album uploaded - didn't match - to iTunes. I assume that this is because Apple is trying to keep people from getting the Mastered for iTunes version of things and refuses to match that version if it's not already associated with the Apple ID. This seems silly, but so be it.
Now I try to listen on an iOS device and see more strange behavior:
    - The uploaded tracks stream fine, but
    - They will not download. No matter what network I'm on, no matter the time of day, there's always an error in downloading them.
I'd be interested to know if anyone has any insight into what's going on; how to get around it; or just if you've seen the same.

    Scott Shuchart wrote:
So I infer that - to keep the "no free upgrades to Mastered for iTunes" policy with the technical limitation that iTunes cannot perfectly match to the same master - it has a policy not to match to Mastered for iTunes unless the track was purchased with the right Apple ID. This seems like a silly but obvious solution to those two constraints. No?
No, there is no such policy. I know this because I was recently able to get Eric Clapton's new album Old Sock matched to the Mastered for iTunes version. All the downloaded tracks have the logo on them. Same goes for the matched AC/DC tracks I have downoaded. All are Mastered for iTunes. These are my rips from CD which were matched.
This is completely different from if someone has an album that was previously bought from the iTunes Store, such as Elton John's Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, which then gets re-released in a remastered version (Mastered for ITunes). Of course we don't get a free upgrade to that version. We have to buy it if we want it. It is just as if you bought the album on CD, then a remastered version is released. You have to buy the CD again.
As you are talking about an iTunes Store purchase, of course you can't re-rip it, since it was never ripped from CD in the first place. But you might want to read the iTS TOS which can be read here: http://www.apple.com/legal/itunes/us/terms.html
But, to get back to the original question, this does seem to be an issue with this particular album for whatever reason.

  • ITunes Match, problems to sincronize the Genius Mixes with my iPad and iPhone

It's pretty simple, meanwhile in iTunes of my Macbook Air (with iTunes Match activated) I can have the genius mixes that I wish, but in the music of my iPad and iPhone (with iTunes Match activated too), only I've got 4 mixes; I do not why and I've really tried everything, I mean, activate, deactivate, synchronize manually, etc. In spite of all I didn't get the genius mixes in my devices. ¿What is it the weirder? It's in the beginning all worked wonderful, I mean, when I activated for first time iTunes Match everything was OK, there wasn't any problem if I sincronized, but suddenly, one day stoped to make its work, ¿Can anybody help me? I really I'd appreciate it. I've more than two thousand songs and the genius mixes are very easy to listen music. thank you.

Ok, I see. Keep in mind that the Genius mixes in iTunes will not be exactly the same as the Genius mixes on your iOS devices. I don't know why this is, but I suspect it is because they are locally generated. So you simply may not get more than 4 mixes on your devices.
I think, though, the best trouble shooting step is to disable iTM on the devices, launch the Music app and let the content clear out, then re-enable the service on the devices. See if that gives you any better results.

  • Multiple iTunes Match problems

    Hello,
I just purchased iTunes Match a few days ago and am having several problems.  First, I'm running a late 08 Macbook Pro with up to date Lion, an iPhone and an iPad 2.  I just bought the iPad and got a 16gb thinking that iTunes Match would create extra memory since all of my music wouldn't have to be on it.  Now on to the iTunes Match issues.
    1.  Several songs will not match.
-I have tried converting many of them to mp3 128kb since they were 160kb originally.  I have an (gasp) android device too and need them to be mp3 and not aac.  This worked on one song last night and I decided to try multiple.  Didn't work, now many of them have the cloud with the x through it or the cloud with the slash through it.
-I have tried renaming the "album artist" as suggested in these forums but with no sucess.
    2.  On both the iPad and iPhone there are greyed out songs.  I can't play these songs and can't download them.
              -  These are the same songs as in #1
              -  These are also every song downloaded by iCloud.  I'm a musician have have several original songs but I can't get them onto my iOS devices.
    3.  iTunes Match is stuck on the second step with two songs left.
              - I have tried closing iTunes and quiting then reopening several times with the same result.
    I have also updated everything.
Thanks for any help you can provide,
    Matt

Firstly, turn off iTunes Match on your iDevice until the inital scan, match and upload process is complete. Enabling the service on an iDevice before the intial process is complete can cause the types of behavior you're seeing.
If you have not already done so turn on the iTunes Status column in the iTunes browser by pulling down View > View Options, selecting "icloud status" and clicking OK. Sort on this column, find all the files that are "waiting" or have an error and remove them from your iTunes library and from the cloud (but not from the HDD). You might want to cp\opy them into a special folder on the desktop first.
Next, re-enable iTunes Match and let it run through the scan. Then start adding the trouble files back to your library a few at a time and let iTM process them.
If you still wind up with errors you can right-click (or Control+click) on the tracks and choose add to iCloud.

  • ITunes match problems on iPhone

I just subscribed to iTunes match and setup my iPhone to use the cloud for music. It works except for the fact that on the albums tab it just says "no music". I am not sure why this is the case because on my ipad the albums show up fine. Any one else having this problem and know a fix?
I have tried turning match off and then back on as well as rebooting but nothing seems to work. Any help would be appreciated. I am running iOS 5.1

Hello, and first of all thanks for try to help me.
I read the information of the links, and saw if that information can help me, regrettably it doesn't.
Just says about software minimum requirements, turn cellular data on, itunes viewing options (i check it), settings for turn itunes match on (i check it always), options and settings for appear songs missing from itunes match on the computer (is not the case, i have no problems with my laptop). Check icloud status (i check it, it's ok).
Albums artwork missing & duplicated playlist (is not the case neither).
So, unfortunately don't say nothing about can't download uploaded songs from itunes match to iphone 5.
Hope you find another possible solution.
    thank you...

  • ITunes Match problems with new PC

I have around 25,000 songs that were mostly matched, some uploaded, when I first signed up for iCloud on my previous laptop (64 bit Windows 7 Pro). My iTunes library resided on an external USB drive and iCloud/iTunes Match was mostly working, though I still had some problems with duplicate songs that I had hoped iTunes Match would be smart enough to help me eliminate (it's not). Duplicates came mostly from several earlier attempts to move and clean up my iTunes library, but that's another story...
Anyway, I got a new laptop (previous one died, hard disk failed), on which I installed iTunes, which I set up with the same external hard drive holding the iTunes library. So the music files were the same. Had to import all the songs from the hard drive which was set up to hold my iTunes Library. The trouble is, iTunes Match apparently thinks I am trying to add 25,000 more songs, when in fact they are the same songs as before. How can I tell it this? When I run iTunes match it says I already have the maximum 25,000 songs, and all the songs in iTunes show up as an error. I can't delete them from iCloud because I can't see them in iTunes! The other laptop is gone. There is apparently no independent way to access iCloud-based music except through iTunes.
I just realized that this is probably the problem: since the previous laptop hard drive died, whatever secret info Apple stores to identify it as authorized for my iTunes account was lost, and I had no chance to deauthorize it. So it thinks I am trying to match a new set of 25,000 songs (though these are almost all the same songs as before, so I would think iTunes Match could figure this out, but I guess not). I decided to deauthorize all 5 PC's on my account - but I can't do this until March 13, 2013, because I apparently did this last March, no doubt to solve another iTunes problem (seems to happen at least once a year that something in iTunes gets screwed up).
I sent Apple a request to deauthorize the dead PC (or all of them if they will), but does anyone have any alternate suggestions? I would like to be able to remove non-needed and/or duplicate songs from iCloud, and apparently the only way to do this is to delete them from iTunes (locally), in which case you are supposed to get a prompt to remove from iCloud or not. But all my songs are flagged as "error" in the iCloud status column, so I have no way to see or modify what's out there, since the associated PC is dead.
I also have most of these ~25K songs on Google Music and in Amazon Cloud. So I'm considering just dumping iCloud and using iTunes locally only (though I'm afraid if I do that it will delete all my local iTunes songs - guess I would have to reinstall from a backup in that case). When iTunes Match works, it's very nice and automatic and convenient since I listen to music on iPod Touch, iPhone, and iPad (yes, I drank Steve's Kool-ade). But as with many things Apple, when it DOESN'T work, it makes you want to slit your wrists. LOL (not).
    Thanks,for any advice.
    -Bruce

Thanks bmw249. I have good news and bad news. Good news: Apple very quickly deauthorized my computers so I was able to drop the lost computer that was taking up a slot and (I suspected) confusing iTunes Match.
The bad news is that this didn't make any difference. Nearly all the songs in my iTunes library have an iCloud status of "error" and when I turn on iTunes Match, it churns for a while before telling me that I already have 25,000 songs in the cloud and can't add any more. What I expected is for it to recognize that most of the 25K songs are the very same ones sitting in this local iTunes library. It should be substantially fewer than 25K because I also deleted 1000+ classical music pieces that I have sitting in Amazon Cloud, in hopes of freeing up space for my recently purchased and created music to be uploaded to iCloud. But no dice.
I am now downloading ~800 songs that iTunes thinks I have only on iCloud. I then plan to figure out how to deactivate iCloud and iTunes Match on this PC so that nothing will be deleted locally when I cancel my iCloud account (it runs out in March 2013 but I assume I can cancel and deactivate the account sooner). The "convenience" of this service isn't worth the many dozens of hours of hours I have spent trying to get it to work the way Apple says it works. Amazon Cloud (also costing ~$25 a year) has a limit of something like 20 GB and no specific limit on number of songs. I buy most music there anyway and have already uploaded most of the rest, so this makes the most sense. I really like the way iTunes Match can (in theory) keep all my music sync'd and smoothly stream to my iPhone even over 3G. Amazon Cloud takes a bit more effort but does much the same thing.
Thanks for listening. I'm assuming this is a "moderated" forum and that this post will soon be removed for my Amazon comments.

  • Itunes Match problem

I subscribed to Itunes Match and went through the procedure for getting it started. Information from my library was gathered okay but the process of matching my music with the Itunes store kept hanging up. I stopped and restarted the process several tmes and each time it got closer to the end before hanging again. However the process finally gave up the ghost when it got to the last track in my library and I could not get it re-started. Any suggestions as to how I overcome this problem?

Thank you for your suggestion. I checked all +-6500 tracks and found one track with "error" as its status. I tried to delete it but could not as the delete command on right click did not work. However when I highlighted the item and right clicked it, one of the options was to check status with store which I did and the status then changed to "waiting". Notwithstanding all this, the match process still hangs up on the last item.
    Any other suggestions?
