Ios 6.1 messed up my ipod touch 4th gen

i updated my ipod touch 4th gen to the new ios 6.1, it took around 22hrs to download it via wifi so i left it at home.  when i came home from work to check on it, the screen is showing the apple logo (when you turn on the device) and turns on and off as if in a flashing motion (5 sec showing the apple logo, then 5 sec again showing all black screen)
i connected it to itunes and said that it was in safe mode and needs to be updated again... i again downloaded the update and after a while an error came up that "an error occured downloading update".  i have good internet connection at home.  upon searching the net, i learned that it was something on apple's end.
my ipod is more than 2 years old.  if i bring it to apple, can they service it for free since its something on apple's end and not my unit?
thanks!

There is no way to perform troubleshooting steps without buttons, sorry. Maybe time for a new iPod.
As far as third-party apps not opening, try downloading a new free or paid app (one you do not already own) from the App Store.

There has never been a legit way to downgrade.
It will always restore to the latest available software.

After updating to iOS 6.1.5 on my iPod Touch 4th Gen, some of my songs are skipping to the next song after 30 seconds even though the iPod appears to be playing the current song. Some of my songs are mp3 files that have been playing fine for years...
    Anybody else experiencing this issue?
I'm using the latest version of iTunes and i don't have that problem on my PC. The only difference as far as i can tell is the updated iOS & firmware...

Yes, other have. If the songs play OK in iTunes on the computer
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • After the iOS 6.1 update on the iPod touch 4th Gen no more app updates

I can no longer download updates from the iTunes update page. It shows a number of updates in the label but no icons to download. I have tried a hard reset and signing out and back in to my iTunes account to no avail. Any other tips?
    Cheers

  • How do I restore the IOS 6 version of GarageBand on my Ipod Touch 4th Gen?

Does anyone else have this problem?
I was trying to clear some memory space on my Ipod Touch 4th Gen 8GB.  I uninstalled GarageBand to get rid of the pesky Document & Data files.  Then I was going to reinstall it.  But when I did, the Itunes App Store downloaded the current IOS7 version.  My device was not updated to IOS7, and the lastest app will not install on it.
Is there a way to get the IOS6 version of GarageBand to upload to my Ipod Touch 4th Gen at this point?  I feel kind of robbed.  I bought the app with the view that it would be good for the life of the device, not be invalidated when the next big IOS upgrade came around.  I have had this problem with a few other apps, but this app I use a lot.
    Thanks for any help.

no I don't because my computer has been reinstalled fully since any of the old backups were done and even so, apps are stored in the itunes folders and not the backup files of the device. I have tried to contact apple/itunes and they don't want to know because I won't upgrade to a newer ipod touch that supports ios 7. I like my ipod touch 4th gen even though the wifi is damaged beyond repair. This is the way things are and big companies like apple expect people to upgrade to keep up with the latest version but the reality is that people don't because of the cost of the new devices.
I'll just have to deal with the fact that I cannot use it to read while on the bus/train any more. Ipod touch 4g is now just a music player/basic camera.

  • Location Service Problem! I Moved To A New House, and Used The Same Wifi, But My iPod Touch(4th Gen. iOS 6) Is Still Using My Old Location/Address and Not My New One, How Do I Fix This?

I Moved From New York To Florida, But Kept The Same WiFi/Router, But The Maps App and My iPod Touch(4th Gen. & iOS 6) Is Still Registering My Location In New York.

For location the iPod uses the location of nearby routers that are in Apple's database of routers and their location. Thus it appears that Apple's database is incorrect. You do not have to be connected to the router, just within range.
Apple periodically updates their database based on information they obtain from iPhones, The iPhone has to have turned on the option to send info to Apple. no one has found another way to get the location of a router added/corrected.
You can confirm that by going to well-know place with wifi like Starbucks or McDonalds

  • How can I install iOS 7 on my iPod touch 4th gen?

How can I install iOS 7 on my iPod touch 4th gen?

    You can't
. As Apple said in June, iOS 7 is not compatible with the 4G iPod.
All the iOS devices compatible (iPhone 4 and later, iPad 2 and later, and 5G iPod touch) with iOS 7 have at least 512 MB of memory (RAM). The 4G iPod only has 256 MB

  • Why is my ipod touch 4th gen with ios 6 only have sound in the speakers but not when I plug my headphones in

My new ipod touch 4th gen with ios 6 wont play soun in the headphones, but only through the speaker when my head phones are unplugged

    - You do have the volume set all the way up?
    - Have you tried another pair of headphones/do the headphone work in other devices?
    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the headphone plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. It seems yo have a hardware problem, likely a bad headphone jack.

  • IPod Touch 4th Gen failed iOS 6.1 update, stuck in recovery mode

Last night I tried to update my iPod Touch 4th gen to iOS 6.1. The update downloaded from iTunes perfectly fine, but as it was installing I got an error message. Now my iPod is stuck in recovery mode and will not start the recovery process. Both the "Devices and Printers" and "Device Manager" in Windows 7 recognize the iPod as being connected and in recovery mode, but iTunes is not showing the prompt that it detects the iPod in recovery mode. I have tried putting the device into DFU mode, uninstalled and reinstalled both iTunes and the Apple Mobile Device driver, all with no success. I won't be home for about 6 hours, so I can't try connecting it to another computer yet. Can anyone please tell me how to fix it?

Yeah, just happened to me too. Third time Apple has ****-canned my iPod by updating the iOS. So tired of having to do this over and over everytime Apple releases an update.
Thanks a ton, Apple! I was just thinking what I could be doing this eveing after a long day at work, now I've got my answer! You guys are just WONDERFUL!

This indicates corrupt files.  A restore should resolve it.

  • IPod Touch 4th gen stuck in reboot loop after attempting to update to iOS 6.1.5

    Hi.
I have my iPod Touch 4th Gen (iOS 6.1.3)....I plugged it into my computer, it said there was a software update available. I click ok, it goes through all of it's stuff, gets up to Verifying update with Apple, and then I get an error message.
"The iPod 'iPod Touch 4' could not be restored. It is not eligible for the requested build."
I know this has something to do with Apple not signing the package, but I got iOS 7.0.4 on my iPhone today and it worked fine.
Thanks for all of your guys' help,

Try what you have not yet tried:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
