IOS 6 airport asking for a password ?

Since upgrading to iOS 6 my airport app is asking for a password to change any info. Both for my time capsule and my airport express ?
I've tried the ones I set it up with, doesn't like them.... ???

This is the TC password not the wireless password..
Anyway press the reset button for 1sec. that is a soft reset.. all passwords are reset to default.. ie TC password is public if it is required at all.
Then change to a new password via the new iOS utility.
As usual apple are outdoing themselves testing these new releases.. welcome to beta land.

  • Why does iOS repeatedly ask for my password when submitting an App Store review?

I tap Write a Review, it asks for my password.
I write my review and submit, it asks for my password. And again. And again. And again.
Once before, and four times in a row to submit it. Why?
My passwords are generated for me, and I change them regularly, so sometimes I get them wrong while typing them in. If I've taken the time to go write a review and then I get my password wrong one of the four times I'm asked for it, I just get an error saying my password was incorrect and the whole review I've written ust disappears and I'm back on the app overview; I have to go write it all over again and then go through the gauntlet of repeated password entry once again...
This has been happening on iOS 6, and still on iOS 7. (This is the App Store app in iOS on an iPhone, just to be clear; not the Mac App Store or the iTunes Store on OS X. I haven't tried either of those, so I may or may not have the same problem there.)

    Entered incorrectly?
Can go to Appleid.Apple.com and select Manage Apple ID - try to sign in, if you are unable to then what is being entered is incorrect.
Reset Password is the next option.
If you are able to sign in then first on your Computer in iTunes go to Store and Select Sign Out - Then Sign back in.
iOS device - Settings - iTunes & App Store - View Apple ID - Sign out / Sign in
That should work for you - however when downloading/purchasing Apps you will most always be prompted to sign in.
    And to the comment
[Yesterday I had problems on my desktop but the laptop worked fine.]
Something was being entered incorrectly, passwords do not effect OS's.
Hope the information with Appleid.apple.com helps you out.
If still having trouble no worries contact AppleCare Account Security via Expresslane.apple.com

  • After IOS 8 upgrade, when I turn my phone on, it asks for a password and none of my passwords seem to work. I have already managed to update my password.

I upgraded to IOS 8 and now when I turn on the phone, it is asking for a password and I have used every password I have used previously but the phone is not accepting the last one I upgraded to. I did a reset of my password but now have to wait 20 more minutes before I can try to get into my phone. I have no idea as to what to do. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Could it be your email password, or your exchange pass code ? If that does not work you may need to restore the iPad. Good luck.

  • IOs 8.1 Mail app keeps asking for iCloud password

Since the update to iOs 8.1 i have a problem with my mailbox.
Every time i want to create a new mail, it asks me for my iCloud password.
This happens on my iPhone (6) and iPad (Air) while im in my iCloud inbox, Gmail inbox, or just the general overview.
Whenever i press the create new mail icon it will ask for my iCloud password.
    - When i give the iCloud password (correct one) it wont ask for it again in the next 15 mins
    - When i dont give the iCloud password (cancel) i can just send mails but it will ask for the password whenever i create a new mail.
    What i did:
    - Remove iCloud account > reboot > Add iCloud account > didnt solve the problem
    - Remove Keychain  > didnt solve the problem
    - Remove iCloud photo's > didnt solve the problem
    - Remove iCloud mail > still asks for the iCloud password.
    - Remove iCloud > solves the problem but i dont want to remove iCloud
    - Disabled all iCloud options, (mail, contacts, etc) > didnt solve the problem
    - Disabled 2 step verification > didnt solve the problem
Everytime i want to create a new mail, u see the phone/pad use the "syncing icon" 3x 5 seconds, maybe a link here?
Anyone else with any ideas that i can try?

That's interesting that it didn't start to happen after a while on your work iPad. I just tried my iPad this evening and I'm getting the same iCloud password popup message when I try to create a new mail or enable "Contacts Only' in Airdrop.
I still think it's a problem with our iCloud accounts. Some flag in the system isn't set or something for some reason. I don't even have mail switched on in my iCloud account so there is no valid reason why Mail.app would try and authenticate to iCloud just because we create a new email.
Signing out of iCloud fixes the issue for me (not that it's a valid long term solution) so that points the finger directly at a setting on my server side iCloud account I think.

  • How to force iOS to ask for S/MIME private key password every time?

Hi, I am using S/MIME signing and encryption on my iOS devices and I am very surprised that the system does not require password for encrypting, decrypting or signing a message when using my cell phone. Everyone with access to it (be it a thief who saw my unlock code or somebody I know personally) will be able to send/read all encrypted messages. That is a deal breaker for me and I hope I am not the only one.
So the question is: I need to be asked for a password everytime I (a) read encrypted message, (b) send a signed message or (c) send an encrypted message.
    How can I do that?
I imported my key via iPhone configuration utility, but I was unable to find an option for that.

By revealing your unlock code your device is already compromised. Just like revealing your computers login password. Once the computer is compromised, any number of things can be done which render the certificate password useless. Keyloggers can be installed, the kernel can be patched to steal DPAPI keys, etc. Real software companies like Apple and Microsoft don't entertain security through obscurity.

  • How do I move files from my iMac to my Airport without getting 'AirPort can not be modified' message. File sharing is enabled and I'm not getting asked for a password. Thanks

What OS are you running.. this is usually only a problem in Mavericks.
If so I recommend you mount the hard disk manually..
    Use Go, Connect to server.
Type in the IP address if static.. eg
    AFP://10.0.1.1
Or the name.. but you will have issues unless the name is short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.. if you are using bad names.. fix it by a full factory reset in airport utility and give it all names that comply to the above.
    Type in
AFP://TCname.local Where TCname is replaced with the actual name.
You will be asked for the password the first time which is public unless you changed it.. please remember to save this in the keychain.
Copy files then to a new directory you create on the TC.. do not place files inside the TM sparsebundle. Nor directly under the main directory.

  • Upgraded to ios 5, now my voice mail is asking for a password or code to unlock to get voice mail. Didn't have a passcode before upgrade, so how do I reset the passcode?

upgraded to ios 5, now my voice mail is asking for a password or code to unlock to get voice mail. Didn't have a passcode before upgrade, so how do I reset the passcode?

So now I went back to the screen that orginally asked me for my Apple ID and passort, and instead of entering my Apple ID i entered the email address associated with it and the new password.  It now tells me "You can't sign in because your account was disabled for security reasons.  To enable your account, reset your passwort at iforgot.apple.com"
I have now changed my password twice and it still doesn't work.
Until I get this resolved my tablet is useless.

If your provider won't tell you then you must use their provided router.. some ISP are like that.

Surely the current ID and Password would work . Anyway I will see how I get on with the Device Password.
No. If you failed to turn off Find my iPhone BEFORE you upgraded to iOS 7, you will need the original Apple ID and password. If you upgraded to iOS 7 you will need this info; there is no way around this. If it is the device passcode you will need to restore your iPhone in order to reset that, which in the end will require your Apple ID and password in order to activate the phone once it is restored.
Why don't you have the original Apple ID? Where did you get the phone?

  • I have an airport extreme space station which works fine, but does not ask for the password so anyone can get on my network. I don't know what to do to fix this.

I set up airport wifi with a WEP password, but it never asks for the password and anyone can enter my network...what to do?

Is it possible to backtrack your way out of the keychain?
    Yes:
Run the Keychain Access utility found in \Applications\Utilities
In the category column (on the left side of the utilities' window), select "All Items."
In the right column look for your Network Name. It will have a "Kind" of "AirPort network password."
Delete every entry that has both your Network Name with this Kind.
What can I do to test or reset?
You can completely erase all the base station's passwords by performing either a "hard" or "factory default" reset. You can also temporarily disable these passwords for up to five minutes so that you will have enough time to change them using the AirPort Utility, by just performing a "soft" reset. I would recommend this one first.
This would also be a good time to consider using WPA or WPA2, instead of WEP, as WEP is no longer considered secure.
I got the airport extreme based used with no softward and set up with reset on airport base and followed instructions.
You can download a copy of the AirPort Utility, that runs on OS X Tiger here.

  • I have gifted an airport extreme to a neighbor and I assumed she would be able to connect and "create a new network" with a new password on her iPhone. That didn't happen. It keeps asking for my password. What next? Thanks!

Have them perform a complete power recycle of their networking hardware. Please check out the following AirPort User Tip for details. Also, make sure that they perform a "factory default" reset on the AirPort (as described in the tip) to be sure to return the AirPort back to its "out-of-th-box" configuration.

Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school enviroment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom

Take it back to Best Buy and talk to the store manager. Possibly they can work something out with Apple.
In the meantime, try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
