IOS 6 and iTunes 10.7 WiFi Sync issues

WiFi sync works for a day or two then from the device is just keeps saying Looking for Mario Michela's iMac...  I restart iMac, reboot iPhone and or iPad. connect via usb cable, uncheck WiFi Sync (apply), recheck WiFi Sync. It will work again for 2 or 3 days. Then starts to fail again.
I've tried using Eithernet and wifi on the mac (no difference)
I've tried turning off the firewall (no difference)
I've reset all setting on the iPhone (no difference)
I've reset SyncServices Folder (/System/Library/Frameworks/SyncServices.framework/Versions/A/Resources/resetsy nc.pl full) -(No difference)
I've called Apple Care 3 times, I keep getting passed around because sync is between product departments.
iOS doesn't support desktop applications, iMac doesn't support mobile devices..
I'm hoping iTunes 11 fixes this issue.. This issue didn't occur prior to iTunes 10.7.

I am getting sync issues too (although on OSX) - seems like others are getting issues too:

  • IPod Touch 4G and iTunes 10.2.2 sync issues on mac?

    Hey,
I recently purchased an iPod Touch 4G 32GB as a replacement for my iPod Touch 2G 8GB, I plugged it into iTunes on the first boot up of the iPod, like normal, and expected to be presented with the usual set of prompts about how I would like to set up my iPod. However, the iPod appeared in the sidebar, but nothing happened to the main portion of the program, and upon unplugging the iPod, iTunes simply crashed, and I was presented with an error message. I put the iPod into DFU mode, and tried a manual restore, then had to restore from a separate firmware file I downloaded for 4.3.2.
I assume from the failure of all of these methods, there must be some sort of problem with iTunes 10.2.2 for Mac and iOS 4.3.2 for iPod Touch 4G. In the end, i managed to get the iPod operational on my PC in an older version of iTunes, however, it still does not sync properly, and if I try to sync movies to the iPod, iTunes crashs like it did before. Is there a known fix for this problem? Or have I got a faulty device? Also, the sync messages are all distorted.
    Thanks!

  • Iphone wifi syncing issue with itunes 10.7

My wife and I each have iphone 4's syncing on our respective computers running Win XP Pro SP3. After upgrading to itunes 10.7 and iOS 6, itunes doesn't reliably sync via wifi. It will sync once then won't a second time unless the computer is rebooted. If I try and click the sync button on itunes, it looks for the displayed iphone then says it can't find it and the iphone disappears. This is happening on both computers. I can direct connect the iphone with usb cable and sync, but it won't sync via wifi without rebooting. I've click the "sync with wifi" button off then on. Nothing works.
We both upgraded to iphone 5's. It didn't solve the problem. I upgraded my computer to a new desktop running Win 8 Pro. Everything transferred fine and the initial sync went well, but the problem persists. After my iphone 5 sync'd with itunes overnight, the next morning it wouldn't sync again via wifi. Again, trying to initiate a sync from itunes caused the it to look for the iphone and not finding it, the iphone disappeared from itunes. Once I restarted Win 8 and itunes, the iphone showed up in itunes.
It's not the iphones(it happened with both 4's and 5's), the computers(two differnet computers) or, the OS( happens with Win XP and Win 8) so it's got to be an isssue with iTunes 10.7 and possibly it's interaction with iOS 6. We didn't have the problem before 10.7 and iOS 6 (upgraded same time).
Any suggestions? This is annoying to not have these reliably sync without intervention.
    Thanks,
    Z

    Try Googling "sync without iTunes".
There are free alternatives and there are not so free alternatives.
Btw, to check if AVG is causing the problem, you should uninstall AVG and not just "turn it off".
Also, can you describe how you go about uninstalling a program? For example, how did you "delete" iTunes?

  • OS, iOS and iTunes Compatibility

I have some iOS and iTunes updates available, but since all my gear is older, I'm getting hesitant about performing the updates due to compatibility concerns and "end-of-life" issues. I've tried searching out to see what is compatible with what, but for the life of me, I can't seem to find a straight answer anywhere, and I'm generally quite successful in my internetting.
I currently have a 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 17" iMac with OS X 10.7.5, running iTunes 11.1.5 (which wants to update to 12.0.1), which is cross-synced with both an iPhone 4 (with it's final OS of 7.1.2) and an iPad 2 running iOS 7.1.1 (which wants to be 8.1).
I can't seem to find any reference as to which versions of what are compatible with everything else. If I update iTunes to 12.0.1, will it still work properly with my poor old iPhone? If I update my iPad to 8.1, will it still be compatible with iTunes 11.1.5? If I update my iPad to 8.1, will it cause syncing issues with the older iOS on my iPhone? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    Nothing is “cross-sync’d”.
advices are simply sync’d with iTunes.

    Yes.
If I update my iPad to 8.1, will it still be compatible with iTunes 11.1.5?
You would now be running iTunes 12.
If I update my iPad to 8.1, will it cause syncing issues with the older iOS on my iPhone?
No. iDevices don’t sync with each other.

  • Since upgrade ios  and iTunes can't access homeshare on ipad

Since upgrade ios and iTunes can't access homeshare on ipad. I see 'share', when using music app on iPad. I click on it and then select my MacBook Pro. Circle starts goes half way the stops. My Apple TV works great. So iTunes on MacBook must be set up right.  Videos app is similar, the circle just spins and spins. My wifi is an apple airport. I beginning to think I have invested badly. I have signed out and in  again of home share on iPad and MacBook  as advised. I have read and re-read. Is there a solution?

    Hello Gary,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with Home Sharing.  It sounds like you are not able to access iTunes from your iPad using Home Sharing.  I found an article with steps that I think would help with this issue.
I recommend reviewing the full article below, but I think steps 4-7 are specifically useful for what you described:

Downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple.

  • Will my Macbook running 10.5.8 and itunes 10.6.3 sync an iphone 4 running ios7?

Will my Macbook running 10.5.8 and itunes 10.6.3 sync an iphone 4 running ios7?

No. To update to the latest version of iTunes you need to upgrade the OS to Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
The OS 10.6 Snow Leopard install DVD is available for $19.99 from the Apple Store:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    and in the UK:
    http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
but nobody knows for how long it will be available.
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard to bring it up to 10.6.8, or download the combo update from here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
Check via Software Update whether further updates are required.
You should now see the App Store icon in iTunes, and you now need to set up your account:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4479
To use iCloud you have to upgrade at least to Lion, but some functions are only available in Mountain Lion:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4759
You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard), or you can purchase Mountain Lion from the App Store - if you can run that:

    Hi Ken,
Wow, I've logged into adobe and never seen your response until now.
I need to make the forums more of a daily stop I guess.
Thank you for your response, When I go to the Archives, it states I have none. In addition, previously when I'd tried to move items to the archive, they just disappeared
Currently my desktop is not connecting at all, Everytime I connect, it's states "We have now logged you out" and requests I login again.
    I have of course rebooted,
Gone into taskmanager, killed all the relevant threads,  tried again to login through the desktop, no luck, I'll have to uninstall it, make sure the threads are killed, then reboot it and then reinstall it, but I've not had the time to do that.
On another note, and just as a point of reference, myself, personally, I hate these "cloud" file repositories (not to be confused with adobe cloud services which I love) but the file repositories themselves imho, are a blackhole of resource usage when one doesn't/isn't using them,
Is there a way we can use it more of a "ftp" sort of thing, when I want to I can  put files there?  There is no way to "Download" the repository, no way to download the folders.. only individual files and then it takes I think three different steps before the download starts.. I find this very inhibiting.  Just an fyi. for what it's worth.
Please, feel free to contact me,

  • ITunes Wifi Sync issue

    Hi,
I canceled a wifi sync session (pressing the x in the area in which iTunes shows what it is currently syncing to/from my iPhone) and ever since doing so my iPhone is no longer recognised in iTunes.
It doesn't show up on the device list.
    Things i tried:
    1.     Quit iTunes (Finder > iTunes > Quit iTunes)
    2.     Restart computer
--> also restarted the iPhone before trying again
    3.     plugging in the USB cable.
    4.     Go to Preferences --> Devices --> option "prevent iPod, iPhone, iPad to sync automatically" isn't checked.
--> Makes sense, since my iPad is connected and syncing properly. Double checked it anyway.
    5.     Searched on Google: not finding anything useful. searched on words like: osx + itunes + wifi sync + not showing
    System spec's:
iMac 27" 3,4 GHZ i7, 16GB ddr3, SSD. OSX Lion 10.7.2 installed. iTunes 10.5.2 (11) installed. Latest updates installed, completely updated.
How do i fix this issue ?

  • ITunes Wifi Sync Issues

After updating my Mac to Lion & IOS5 on both iPhone & iPad, wifi iTunes syncing seemed to work fine for the iPhone but for the iPad it took forever (hours) every time.
It shows all my photos, songs, videos, etc. being loaded onto the iPad each time, even though I'd only made a change or two since the last sync.  It was like it was restoring from backup or setting up a brand new device.  On the iPhone it syncs in just a minute or two & only upates the changes.
Now, out of the blue, every time I try to sync the iPad, either on wifi or with USB cable, as soon as I connect the iPad it locks up iTunes.
I see everyone saying to turn off the wifi syncing in iTunes but I cannot get to the page where you set all your choices for syncing, song & photo transfer, etc.  I can see the iPad in the Library but I cannot select it.  As soon as I unplug the USB cable it shows the iPad option screen for a split second & then iTune is no longer frozen & works perfectly otherwise.
I have tried turning off wifi on both the iPad & Mac becasue it is only supposed to synce when they are both on the same wifi but it still shows my iPad in the Library list, even though it is not on wifi or connected to the Mac via USB.
I have also gone into the iTune Prefs & turned on the "Prevent devices from syncing automatically" switch & nothing works.
Any help on how I can get this thing to stop trying to sync via wifi & go back to the old USB way?
    Many Thanks!

I am having the same problem. Update did not go well since Ipod could not be restored from back up due to back due to back up not being found. Backed up two days before just in case and still could not find back up.
Since updating to IOS 5.0, apps are startiong to sync and then time out but none of my music will sync over a wired connection.

  • Updated IOS and iTunes now songs are greyed on iPod Touch

    Hello,
I've searched all over for a resolve to this problem. I've tried everything from removing all my music from my iPod, wiping my iPod, to removing quicktime and iTunes and reinstalling. However the issue still persists.
    The Problem:
About a month ago I ripped an album and attempted to put it on my iPod. All the songs showed up, but only the first song was playable, the rest were grey on the iPod. I chalked it up to a user error on my part, no big I could fix it.
About a week ago I tried to add another album to my iPod, same story, all the songs show up, but only the first in the album is playable. I removed both albums at this time, and did a sync. After doing the sync A LOT of my songs wouldn't show up. Usually just the first song in an album would be playable, the rest grey. After my restore, and iTunes delet/reinstall my iPod doesn't even get that far. I think I'll have about 15 songs out of 3500 that are playable.
When I go to the music tab in iTunes under my iPod the songs that don't transfer have a little grey circle with arrows in it next to them. Not sure what that's all about...
I know that they songs are getting to my iPod because in the summary in iTunes it shows I have 23 gigs of music.
I'm using a 4th Gen iPod touch, newest IOS and newest iTunes as of Saturday, November 17th, 2012.
I'm at a loss right now. I go from having ALL my music on my iPod to next to none.
    So, what's the fix?
    Thanks,
    Jacob

That didn't really fix the issue. However I did half way fix it by deleting all the music in my iTunes library, then adding them again. Not sure what was going on, but it's fixed now.
    Thanks!
    Jacob

  • A possible solution to WiFi Sync Issue

    I started with this link:
    http://www.imore.com/itunes-wifi-sync-not-working-ios-8-heres-how-fix-it
Now here is what I did:
Reset the network settings: Settings--> General --> Reset --> Reset Network Settings
After it finished resetting, I re-joined my home wireless.
Next, I connected to my Mac with a cable.  There were "Do you want to trust this iPad/Computer" dialogs popping up on both sides.
Then I synced the device and made a change or tewo just to push content.
Then, when I unplugged, the device remained in iTunes rather than (as before) disappearing like devices used to do before wifi-sync.
This process reconnected both my iPad Air and my iPhone 5s.
    Hope this helps.

    OOOOOPS!
    Let me CLARIFY:
This problem was NOT present with the ORIGINAL O.S. which came with my 2008 Macbook Pro.  The problem started when I upgraded to Snow Leapard and seems to have ended with Lion.
