IOS 6 Apple Maps

I just changed to ios 6. I live in Thailand. Ignoring the comments on Apple Maps in the internet, I thought I try it out. I am using an IPad 3 with German language. When calling Apple Maps, I noticed to my surprise, that all street names are placed in Thai Alphabet, there is no Roman letters as are vital to be able to know where you are and where you want to go, if you cannot write Thai. Google Maps has that, of course, as does any naviagtion system in Asia. Does anyone know a) how to change/add the street names in Latin letters or b) how to uninstall IOS 6 and return to the previous version, so that I can use the Maps feature again? Thanks

Has the question been answered yet? iOS 6 is out now. Is there a way to save Google maps bookmarks from an iPhone 4 to Apple maps on a new iPhone 5 using iOS 6? Please let us know. I must have 100 bookmarks, some for out of the way places without addresses.

IOS 7 Apple Maps bookmarks - no addresses

I type in an address in Apple Maps, a pin appears and I "Bookmark" the pin and give it a name. Then, once maps is quit and relaunched, I can find the new bookmark in the bookmarks list, but there is no address. It just says "Create New Contact, Add to Existing Contact, etc." In IOS 6, bookmarks would always save the addresses. If I save it as a contact, it does save the address, but I'd rather use Bookmarks for some locations (since that's what it's for). Does anyone know why Bookmarks is not saving my addresses?

Unfortunately, when you select the right arrow, the address and services are missing. Below are steps to recreate the issue. These are the same steps I took in iOS6 and never had any problem - it wasn't until the upgrade to iOS7 that Maps now erases the address and contact info for all bookmarks.
Saving a bookmark
Enter search criteria in Maps search field
Click '>'
Click 'Add Bookmark'
Recalling bookmark after opening Maps - after Maps was completely closed from the recent apps window
Open Maps
Click on book in upper right (right of search bar)
Select 'Bookmarks' in lower bar
Select appropriate Bookmark
Pin is dropped at location
Click '>'
Address is now gone and 'Directions to Here' is not an option

What happened to my bookmarks in Apple maps now that I have upgraded to iOS 8?

They will show up when you are in the field to Seach or Enter an Address:

When you are getting Directions between 2 locations, however, they don't show up (for me); just start typing the name of the Favorite or Recent or Contact, and choices will appear.

Can new Apple maps be installed on IOS 5?

As i want to find out how new Apple map works and helping to improve Apple maps i would like to test it;
But i love the "old" maps on IOS 5 and want to use it.
Is there a way to have both apps on the ipad?

Google is reportedly working on a maps app of their own, but no guarantees that it will ever be approved and released. We'll just have to wait and see. As Demo said, there is no way to install Apple's Maps app on iOS 5.

Apple Maps (IOS 6)

Hi There,
I've updated my iphone to IOS 6 and now google maps had been replaced by "Apple Maps". the problem I'm facing now that when i try to find a directions between 2 places (in the middle east) a message appears saying that "Direction not available". Although, in IOS 5 (Google Maps) it was working wounderfully and it gave me the directions between any to drop pins I choose.
does any one know what to do ?? I tried to dwonload other maps applications like (Google earth) but it does not give me the option to choose the directions between to drop pins.

Bing Maps offers a very good maps service with Bird's Eye, a feature similar to Flyover. It's arguably better than Google Maps.

Sending directions from osx to iOS using apple maps doesn't work!

I don't see the option to send apple maps directions to my iphone.
Both mac osx mavericks and ios7 are logged in with the same icloud id.

If you don't see your iPhone in Maps on OS X, and you've confirmed you're signed in with the correct iCloud account (Apple ID), try these steps from our troubleshooting article next:

3. Quit OS X Maps and try again.
Quit the Maps app, then open it again.
Click the Share button. If you still don't see your devices, continue to the next step.
4. Sign in to FaceTime or Messages on your Mac.
Sign in to either FaceTime or Messages. In Messages, you should be signed in to your iMessage account, not another type of account. If you're already signed in, continue to the next step.
Restart your computer. After the computer restarts, you should be asked to enter your iCloud password and click Log In.
If you still don't see your devices in Maps, quit Maps, then open it again and check for your devices once more.

Not only does the transit feature I used religiously no longer exist, but clicking on an address in a website now directs users to a poor Google Maps interface. I am surprised to see such a effortless update from a company squatting on the resources to make a change its customers are asking for.

IOS 7 Apple Maps?

Is it only me or is someone else also having problems with the Apple Maps? I know it just came out and it's not perfect-perfect.. but this was just weird.
I set my destination to a local Starbucks. The pin drops and it is clearly to the left of my current location. The GPS literally took me in a circle telling me to make right turn after right turn.
Hopefully this gets fixed soon!

London Underground Stations on Apple iOS 6 Maps

I can't fingure out how to activiate / show the location of London Underground stations on the new Apple maps, can anyone help me ?

The stations are there as small purple icons, though I've had trouble finding some of them through search. Hopefully things will improve before too long.

How can I update a location in the Apple Maps app?

The location across the road from my office building shows that a high school is there, but that is not the case. The high school has not been located across the road in over 20 years. I found this error when I was updating the location information in Google Places and thought to check the location accuracy in the Apple Maps app. How can I submit for a correction to the location info?

Apple has always included a way to "report a problem" in iOS 6 Maps, but because it does so in the context of Yelp local search information, it's not readily obvious that this button is for reporting map errors rather than just filing a grievance against a business or Yelp's data (below).

Use of iOS 6 Maps Images on Websites

I am webmaster for a 501.3(c) "not-for-profit"'s website. The following situation regards iOS 6 "Maps" from Apple, as well as screen shots in general taken on an iPhone (or other iOS device).
We would like to display the iPhone screen shot of a 3D aerial view of our buidling as an image on our public website. The 3D image was generated by iOS 6 Maps and then the screen shot taken with "Home button/Power Button." The image would be viewed by maybe 200 people a month. (But while it's not likely, any site could go viral all of a sudden, right?)
What are the copyright rules for displaying such an image generated by Apple iOS 6 maps? With Google maps, you can apply for a waiver in some cases; in others, Google considers fair use. Unsure? They have a four-step wizard for determining what course of action one should take to properly use such an image.
But what is Apple's policies and procedures for using such images? How do I apply for a license or a waiver of such license? How much would it cost for a not-for-profit, educational use? Any other issues?
Aside from images from Maps, what, if any, are copyright restrictions on other screen shots taken on an iOS device captured with the "Home button/Power Button" combination?

I can tell you from personal copyright infringement experience. (I had a single pic on my site that I once had permission to use, no longer allowed. Getty images contacted me and sued me for $800)
So tread very lightly and research thoroughly.

Why is apple maps syncing my favorites?

Whenever I add a favorite in "maps" it gets synced to my other ios devices.
So far I haven't found a way to turn that off.
Every option in iCloud is turnef off.

I don't even have a SIM card inserted into the device, so I don't see how that could impact it. All other download services are working fine, with consistently about 15-20Mbps download speeds on Comcast. It is only Apple Maps that seems to have an issue. Trying TopoMaps, e.g., the map loaded instantly on places I have never searched before (ergo, map tiles were not cached).

I hate Apple maps, will Marvericks give me option to sync contacts with google maps?

Will Mavericks let me sync contacts with google maps or require sync to Apple Maps as does i0s7. I hate Apple maps.

I have exactly the same issue. I updraged my iphone4 to iOS 5.0.1 and iTunes to version 10.5.2.11. I'm also running Windows7, but 32bit.
And I can also confirm this used to work both ways.
Good thing is that the iTunes backup and restore kept the new iPhone contacts on my device during the upgrade. But they are still not syncing to google.
So the bad news is that its broken and has been for some time now.

Red/Orange/Green indicators for ios 6 maps?

I just updated to ios 6. Every morning I check my maps app to see how the traffic looks for a couple of routes I can take to work. This morning, with ios 6, there was no information. It seems it only shows when its red. This is completely frusting because I know that both these routes can have slow "orange" patches every morning. Will they be adding red/orange/green indicators to ios 6 maps?!

IOS 6 maps and public transit?

When will iOS 6 have a public transit option? Not having one is a pain.

I sent this via feedback: One of the best features of maps WAS public transit info. for when I travel. It was excellent and very reliable. Now Apple maps directs you to the App Store to purchase a free or not free separate app for that. Most have marginal reviews...and some have terrible reviews.
Since I began using Apple products in 1988, this is one of the most blatant rugs pulled from under users with no good replacement.. It seems a disgrace to have done this and hardly can be a sign of a forward thinking company. Your developers increased functionality for the car driver and removed it from the rest...very arrogant and disappointing. Please redeem yourselves.
