IOS 6 Crashed my iPhone 4!! What to do??
Can anyone help a girl who's not very technically saavy?? I made the HUGE mistake of installing iOS 6 on my iPhone 4 this morning. All seemed to be working fine. This evening I tried to reply to a text, and the screen was blank. So I tried to send a message via Send Message in my address book. Now I have the equivalent of the Microsoft Blue Screen of Death!! I have a blank grey screen and can't turn the phone on or off. Though I can still hear the "bing" when a new email or text comes in (pretty maddening).
Does anyone know of anything I can do to get my phone back?? And seriously, I need the step-by-step idiot instructions. Re-installing my old OS? Don't know how...

my iphone4 is crashing too every time i try using message or whatsapp application. After opening or trying to read a text, a black screen is showed and then the message app crashes... Moreover, the whole operating system is much slower then the previous... Hope Apple will solve the problem, i think they're trying to convince us buying a new iphone....

tried to update to ios 6.1 and it crashed my phone, plugged it into itunes like it told me to and it said i needed to restore it, so tried and it failed and it just keeps failing. its an iphone 4. what do i do?!it just says restore failed error 3194 but i can't find anything useful on google or anything i can understand, i don't get technology at all.

I updated to iphone iOS 6 on my Iphone 4s, it worked fine for the hour i used it. When i woke up a few hours later every single app started crashing, from safari to maps, after a few seconds the app crashes and i would have to go back in.
The crashing gets quicker and quicker untill i turn the phone off and back on. Then the crashing takes like 30 seconds and quickly speeds up. I can't even message, this is a complete disaster.
My battery lost 25 % in 5 mins now as well... WHAT IS GOING ON?!?!
Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Please I need a fix.I updated about a week ago as well, and the phone worked perfectly for the first few days. Then I began to have the same issues as you have experienced. My phone was warm to the touch, my battery would run down in a matter of hours, and all of my apps would crash a few moments after opening them. I also tried the hard reboot and restoring the phone via iTunes, which did not work. Mysteriously the issue stopped for a couple of days and then came back yesterday. It is apparent from the various message boards that it is NOT a hardware issue, as my 4S is only 6 months old and worked perfectly before the upgrade. It is also apparent the folks at Apple have no idea what the cause and cure is, as many commenters have tried multiple suggested solutions to no avail. This morning I took the advice of one commenter and closed out all of my apps, and it worked. All day my phone has been cool to the touch and the battery is still near 100%, and the two apps I briefly opened (Facebook and mail) worked fine once the phone cooled down (maybe the temp is related to the crashing). This seems to indicate the issue is with one or more of the apps, and I can't be sure which. While I still find this unacceptable long term, I will continue to close every app after using it. Give this a try and see if it works for you as well, at least until we get a real fix for the issue.

Update: my phone's connecting to the WiFi again. I don't know what did the trick. I did nothing since reinstalling the software. It hadn't worked then, it is now. I tried connecting to my dad's phone's hotspot( he uses a Moto G), and it worked. I then tried connecting to the WiFi at a friend's house, and when I came back home, my phone was able to connect to my WiFi! Is it of any significance that my friend's router doesn't require a password? My issue has been resolved( for now; I hope I'm not counting my chickens before they've hatched). For anyone facing a similar issue, I suggest you try everything I did:
1. Turn your router off for a minimum of 30 seconds, turn it back on and try connecting.
2. Click on the WiFi network you are connected to, scroll to the bottom, tap "Renew Lease".
3. Do a soft and hard reset.
4. Reset network settings.
5. Back your data up, erase all content from settings menu, restore from backup.
6. Reinstall your software( put it in recovery mode).
I am not sure which of the above worked for me. Make sure you try everything. If none of the above works, take it to a genius bar or an authorised service provider. Good luck! :) -
IOS 7 downloaded and crashed the iPhone
IOS 7 done on Iphone 4, wants to connect to iTunes which in turn wants to restore the phone to earlier IOS. What a nightmare won't restore and keeps crashing. Any ideas as its my daughters phone and she's not happy with me? Should have waited I guess!!!
You should try resetting the phone, then try to restore again.

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

It looks like there might be some security settings or software on your laptop that's preventing the restore process from working.
Check out this article in Apple's support. It shows you the steps you can take to try to get around error 1611.
Like diesel vdub said, a DFU-mode restore might give you success where a regular restore might not, so maybe you can try that.
What you need to do is put your phone into DFU mode, which is a low-level mode that helps the restore process get a little more done, or it can help iTunes get around certain roadblocks (hopefully like the one you're experiencing!). Your computer will install special DFU-iPhone drivers for it, and then iTunes will see it as a phone that needs restoring.
To get your phone into DFU mode:
Plug your phone into your laptop.
Turn the phone off.
Press and hold the power/lock button. Keep it held in, even after the display turns on and you see something on the screen. As soon as you see something on the screen, start holding the home button as well as the power button, so that they're being pressed together.
Keep both buttons pressed down for 10 seconds.
After 10 seconds, release the power button, but keep holding home until the laptop sees a new USB device. Once you see that, you're in DFU mode, and you can let go of buttons. Your iPhone screen will be blank during it all, even though it's actually on, in DFU mode.
Now your restore should work!
If your phone shows the Apple logo or anything else while you're trying to get it into DFU mode, then something went wrong. Try the steps again. If it suddenly starts up normally again, try reducing the time to a bit less than 10 seconds--try reducing it by about a second at a time. It should work! -

I installed iOS 7 on my iPhone 5 the day it was released. No problems. After learning tips/tricks am loving it. 27 Sept 2013 rec'd notification of an update iOS 7.0.2 (bug fixes etc), and did the update. But now every day the calendar app is crashing. I open it and it closes. The only way I can get into it is to search for an event, or when an event alert comes up, hit 'view'. Other wise I can't open the Calendar. Never ever had this problem before. I've tried turning it off/on, but still crashes. I've closed all running back ground apps and did a Restart, Pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake & Home buttons for a few seconds until it shuts down, then the Apple logo appears, and restarts. It sounds like you have done some great troubleshooting already. What I would do next is backup and restore your phone to iTunes.

Before you restore from your backup, I would first setup the phone as a new device, then test the calendar app to make sure it works the correct way. Then restore from your backup and verify the Calendar is still working.

IMessage, Mail crash when iPhone 5s rotates, iOS 8.0.2
Ever since the iOS 8 update, my iPhone 5s has become unstable: when the phone is rotated, sometimes the apps don't react at all, sometimes they react but in weird, broken ways, and sometimes they just crash outright. The problem is definitely linked to rotating the phone.
Turning off predictive text in iMessage seemed to help a little, but not much. Rebooting didn't fix it.

I recently upgraded to iTunes 11.1.5 and now my iPod Nano is not recognized in iTunes. I also upgraded my iPhone 5s to iOS 7.1. i Tunes on my computer does recognize my iPhone. What is the problem with my iPod Nano not being recognized?
I would think, Twins1995, that if we are having the problem, others are as well. Hopefully, Apple will shortly issue a follow-up software release to fix the problem. Or is that just wishful thinking on my part.
It would be helpful, if there were some kind of work-around in the interim, so we can use our devices. Pretty frustrating when you consider that all of the hardware and software is produced by Apple. -

okay I've done everything regarding the transfer process (via file>transfer purchases) and syncing, so everything on my iPhone device seems to have been transferred to my iMac... however, I still get that message ("There are purchased items on the iPhone..."), trying to upgrade the iOS Have tried several times the same process of hitting transfer purchases via file, but nothing seems to make that message go away! Would have been nice to know which files I actually do need to transfer, which I don't get any info on of course...

Thank you for your question. iTunes 11.1 is required to update to and sync with iOS 7. If you are still running iTunes 10.6.3, I recommend trying to obtain the update by going to the iTunes menu and selecting Check for Updates.

No, sounds like when you dropped it an cracked the screen it may have also damaged the logic board or the repair person damaged a cable.
