Ios 6 /iphone 4s- I cannot delete Safari history

Hello,
I have ios 6 on an  iphone4s. I cannot delete Safari
I have been to settings and deleted history there and the cac.
I have also been into advanced web settings and deleted there but the history still remains.
Any ideas please...
Thanks

My 4S does this sometimes.  The best fix I've found it to turn Wifi off, reboot your iPhone, and then turn wifi back on.  If this doesn't help, then the problem likely resides with your router, so try rebooting your router.
Hope this helps.

    Hello, Robertofromfo.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
This sounds like you may have Private Browsing enabled.  The article below will show you how to disable this feature.
    iOS: Safari web settings

You can also attempt to clear your history via the steps below.
Follow these steps to clear information from your device:
To clear your history from Safari, tap Settings > Safari > Clear History.
To clear all cookies from Safari, tap Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies and Data.
To clear other stored information from Safari, tap Advanced > Website Data > Remove All Website Data.
    Cheers,

  • Can I lock or block the ability to delete safari history?

Can I lock or block the ability to delete safari history?

Your child should have their own account. That account can then be restricted with "Parental Controls".
There is a substantial set of "Parental Controls" available, including limiting to ONLY a WhiteList, OR a blanket "adult sites" restriction with or without an additional BlackList of your choosing.
There is also a restriction to whom s/he may send emails and with whom s/he may send instant messages. This is important.
Keep in mind that the REAL enemy on the Internet is not pørn. Pørn may give them a distorted view about how adults deal with sex.
But pørn will not make arrangements to meet your child after school. The REAL enemy on the Internet is unrestricted Chat rooms with strangers.

  • I have songs on my iphone that i cannot delete. way?

    hey,
I have some songs on my iphone that I cannot delete. way is that?
as well, I transferred music to I tunes that I can't see on my iphone after syncing and auto filling.
    thank you
    sivan

They are songs that you have in the cloud, they can't be deleted from there - but you should be able to hide them from the Music app via Settings > iTunes & App Store > Music (in the 'Show All' section) 'off'

  • Is there a relatively easy way to view deleted safari history or pages viewed for an iphone? Browser has been cleared, cookies have been cleared, but I'm wondering if the information is still accessible in my phone somehow?

As I say, internet has been cleared, and under settings, the advanced cookies & history has also been cleared. Is there an easy way of viewing this info again?
Also, the "private browsing" option, is there a way of disabling it or at least having that option password protected?
And what is "web inspector"? Is that something that I can set up on my pc that will monitor iphone activity?
    Thanks!

I'm concerned about restoring my phone, I'm not exactly computer savvy, and there are some game apps on my phone that I'd be afraid of deleting.
Just wondered if there was another way?
If doing a restore is the only way, would someone be able to tell me how to do it and whether or not I will have a heck of a time getting all my info & apps back onto my phone afterwards?
    Thanks!
How does this relate to your first post?
Are you talking about restoring as new? or restoring to a backup?
    Why are you restoring?
If it is to recover History  and you think that you have a backup that contains the missing history you could restore to that. Doing this will restore your iPad to the state that it was in at the time of the backup, Apps, Games, etc.
Note that there are PC and Mac applicatons that can read iPad backup files and extract information. Check the internet for these. I do no know if they extract Safari History.

  • Deleting Safari History Items with Restrictions Set

    Hi All,
My daughter's iPad mini has restrictions set to 'limit adult content'. One of the apparent benefits of this was the the 'Clear' button on Safari history and 'Private Browsing Mode' were disabled. I was then able to periodically audit the history to check nothing untoward. I could also temporarily remove restrictions to clear the history before re-enabling them.
However, I have just noticed that if you swipe left on an item in history, you are given the option to delete - without removing Restrictions first.
Is this expected behaviour or has a particular update caused this? Is there a setting to prevent history deletion?
    Many Thanks,

You can clear just history on iOS 8, but there's no analogous easy way to do it in Yosemite.
For Yosemite, to clear history manually, you must:
Go to Safari's History -> Show History
Click in the History window and Select All (Command-A or Edit -> Select All)
    Press "Delete"
Note that due to cacheing and the fact that History may now be synced across devices via iCloud, you may need to repeat steps 2 and 3 multiple times before you delete all History items.
For iOS 8, display History, tap "Clear" and choose the option you prefer.

  • IPhone 4: Unable to delete Safari Bookmarks from main screen

My iPhone4 (iOS 4.3.5) won't delete Safari Bookmarks from the main screen. When the bookmark is held down (it starts wriggling, and is able to be moved around), there is no "x" option. I am still able to delete apps. I'm not able to delete the bookmark off my iphone through iTunes either. Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings.
Unsure as to what causes the problem but this will definitely resolve it. No personal data will be lost it just resets settings as the name suggests. Of course you can just update/restore but this is an unneseccary step.

  • How do I delete and create a new iCloud account on my iPhone, when I cannot delete the old account off my phone!

I have given my 4s to my wife, she has an iCloud account which uses her work address, she has now left the company and we want to start a new iCloud account, trouble is we cannot delete the old account, we have created a new iCloud account but the iPhone won't let us log into it as it only recognises the old version, we can't access her email anymore to reset the account. Have tried all online help. We restored the phone through iTunes

  • Reminders - iCloud, iPhone, etc. slow, cannot delete

Are there any fixes for the awful implementation of Reminders across devices and iCloud. Ever since iOS 7 things are terrible.
The iPhone app is miserabley slow. If I want to check two items  as completed I have to wait for my app to acknowlege the first tap, refresh the sort order on the list and then tap the second item. If I do not, it will either un-complete the item just completed or complete the item that was in the order before it re-sorted.
Likewise on iCloud Reminders it is slow to load and there's an error with deleting large volumes of Completed Reminders. I have 1,300+ reminder to delete on one list and it crashes everytime that I try to do so. I've been sending crash reports for 6 weeks now with no fixes. If I clear all completed reminders for a small volume 10-20 it works fine.
I suspect that all of this is due to too many completed reminders (which shouldn't matter) but I can't remove the completed items to try and help my problem. Any suggestions?

    Hi DesertFlower23,
If you are having issues with your iPhone being unable to delete music, you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.
First, quit all running applications and test again -
Force an app to close in iOS
Next, I would try restarting and if needed resetting the iPhone -
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPhone as a new device -
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • TS3992 I bought iPhone 5 but cannot delete iPhone 4S back up because it says it is in use

Help, I bought an iPhone 5 yesterday but cannot back it up to the cloud, because it says there is no room.  I tried deleting the last back up from iPhone 4S but it will  not delete because it says it is in use.

I don't know about the "can't delete" issue, but as to the storage problem...
The problem could be that you don't have enough storage on the device itself, not on iCloud.  Go to Settings>General>Usage to see how much "Storage" you have available on the device.  Farther down the list is the available storage on iCloud.
    Also check:
Go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backups>Manage Storage; there, tap the device you need info on and the resulting screen lists Backup Options with which apps store data on iCloud as well.  Tap Show All Apps to get the complete list of apps and MB used for backup storage.
A device needs many MB of storage in order to perform a backup to iCloud.

  • Can NOT delete Safari-History

Safari 4.0 History and Top-Sites can NOT be deleted or removed!
Problem: After starting Safari 4.0.3 (SnowLeo 10.6.2) I clear the history and delete some of the top-sites. Then I delete the cache and settimng back Safari. Everything is deleted - o.k.!
Then ending Safari and restart it - wht happens: the complete hisrtory of yesterday including top-sites is back!
    Whats the problem?

Hi and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
    See if this helps...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
from the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
If that does not help ... Quit Safari
Go to ~/Library/Safari and delete the Downloads/History/ and TopSites.plist files.
Just move those files to the Trash, then relaunch Safari.
Also, since you just updated to 10.6.2, if you didn't do so already, repair disk permissions.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

  • Deleted safari history

How do I recover Safari deleted history?
    mac   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

One other thought...Gurl Watcher is an inexpensive application maintaining logs of web sites visited. It's a great help for parents wanting to monitor children web usage.
This application is not yet Universal, so on an Intel machine it would run in Rosetta mode.

  • There are songs on my iPhone that I CANNOT delete

MAIN PARTS OF THE STORY ARE IN RED. Details are in black.
Me and the rest of my family share an Apple ID account. I have automatic music downloads and "show all music" turned off, because I dont want their music and stupid apps. The other day I went on the itunes Purchases section on my phone because I was curious as to what my sister was listening to. I saw my brother had downloaded Hot for Teacher by Van Halen, which was weird because I had that song already. I listened to from the itunes app to see if it was different somehow and it wasnt.
Then a few days later I was looking through my music and saw that I had two copies of that song. The album cover of his version was different, so I went to delete it.
    AND I COULDNT.
i tried to slide the song to delete it as I had done to many of my songs, but it didnt respond to the slide. I NEVER EVEN DOWNLOADED THE SONG. I just listened to it once. Now that song and all of my sisters songs i listened to are on my phone and I CANT DELETE THEM.
I thought "okay, these songs arent on my laptop, so Ill just sync my iphone and theyll be gone."
    NOPE.
itunes didnt even acknowledge that these songs existed on my phone. My computer cant interact with them at all. It was only like 7 songs so I didnt really care. but wait, the story gets better.
Im a big pokemon fan. I recently downloaded the Pokemon X and Y soundtrack they released, which if you dont know, if OVER 200 TRACKS. I also downloaded another soundtrack that was ANOTHER 100.
My brother had the "show all music" option on, so he saw all these 300+ songs in his music, with little cloud download symbols next to them. I messaged him and told him to turn show all music off so that he wouldnt accidentally download them. he did that. But hes a pokemon fan too, though not as big as me, so he wanted to have a few of the songs.
He downloaded 2 or 3 of the songs off of itunes purchases section on his iphone, and for some reason IT DOWNLOADED THE WHOLE OF BOTH ALBUMS. So my brother suddenly had 300+ songs on his phone that he did not want, and COUND NOT delete.
I could not figure out how to get them off no matter what I did, and in the end, he had to choose the "erase all music" option from settings to clear his phone and then sync it again. He hasnt synced his phone in a while, so He ended up losing a bunch of songs he actually wanted.
Now my mother has all these songs on her phone with the same scenario. there has to be some way to delete these songs without deleting every **** song on the phone. and there has to be some way to listen to songs on the could without having to permanently burn them onto my phones memory. please someone help me out here.

why you don't sync with itunes (on mac or pc) with deleting all at first? turn off syncing music, apply, then turn it on again

  • Cannot Reset Safari - History reappears after Quit

I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion and I'm seeing some strange behavior with Safari
Every time I Quit and reopen Safari is opens a random page - not my home page
I attempted to "Reset Safari" and all of the book marks reappear after I quit and re-open
I have 2 accounts on my iMac.
This is only happening for 1 of the accounts - If I clear the history on this account it goes away.
    Thanks
    Jeff

Try troubleshooting the Safari .plist  (preferences)
Quit Safari. Now open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar top of your screen click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
Click Go the move the  com.apple.Safari.plist    file to the Desktop.
Quit then relaunch Safari. If that helped, move the .plist file to the Trash. If not, move it back to the Preferences folder.
If that didn't help, type this:   ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit then relaunch Safari to test.
