IOS 6 randomly hangs

After having issues installing iOS6, and having iTunes Match issues, I still have random hangs in iOS 6. For example, I open the App Store, search for an app, when it comes up I tap it but nothing happens.  The same kind of thing happens in the Music app.  I either have to wait until it catches up, or most times the app crashes.  This has happened many times with the Music app specifically.  Anyone else having these issues?

This turned out to be a hardware issue.  Once Apple replaced my iPhone 5 the problems vanished.  No lockups since.

  • Do not buy a 4510L - internet randomly hangs while browsing - likely 4G network issues

Ok, so I was excited to jump into a 4G wifi hotspot. I did some quick research and noticed the Samsung 4G hotspot was having some internet connection issues. Samsung had released an update but I didn't want to bother. I mentioned to the Verizon Wireless sales person the hotspot issues and she mentioned she hadn't seen any issues with the Samsung or Mifi device... so I purchased the mifi4510L... and so starts the nightmare!
So the mifi4510L device started up and I connected to the internet. My connection speed was slower than my 3G ATT smartphone. I restarted the device a few times and finally noticed really high speeds both down and up. Apparently upon reading the manual, at first it was flashing yellow (3G connection) and after 30 minutes it finally found the 4G (flashing green) with 4 bars.
I immediately start noticing that when I'm working, websites start to randomly hang... using windows xp. I restarted the device numerous times, took out the battery, sim card and it still would hang on random websites. So I tried using my personal Windows 7 laptop... same problem... how about my Android smartphone on wifi... same problem... oh and an old laptop I have at home with Windows Vista... same problem.
So, of course, the first thing to do is jump on google to see if this is a wide spread problem with mifi. The problem is though, that many people don't know how to describe the problem. I saw a few instances of people having somewhat similar problems and exchanging the device numerous times and even switching out sim cards.
By now it is very late at night/early morning. I thought since many people seem to be having issues maybe Verizon customer service would be aware of the problem and could help. Well now I was talking to someone who barely speaks english. He has no idea about what this mifi thing is and has never dealt with any tech support regarding the device. I was put on hold while he researched the issue, I asked about resetting the device, and he mentioned the Mifi has no reset button... later, I found a pdf of the manual and found the reset button..I was working in the dark and never noticed it was right there in front of me, So before I hung up the phone, Verizon customer service promised they would call within 48hrs and give me an update on what they had found... It's been a month and still no call.
So a week later, the problem is still occurring, even at different locations with 4bars on 4G. I decided to stop by the Verizon wireless store. I asked about issues with the mifi and was told there weren't any issues. I found this strange since I had now seen so many posts online about the problems people were having. I tried every salesman in the store and was told the same. Ok so now I wanted to try out the Samsung hotspot. At first I was told I could only exchange it for another mifi... then they said oh I would just have to pay a restocking fee. Some online posts seemed to suggest that exchanging the device and sim card helped so I did just that. I made it home, and the first thing I notice is that now I had no sim card... a trip back to the store to pick up the sim card. It took about 10-15 minutes before it established the 4G connection but I was back up and running. I was online for about 10 minutes and no hang so I went to bed.
Another week goes by and  now I am really frustrated. Calls to Verizon are the typical; there are no problems, just reset, restart,or go exchange for a new one.
And now I found the following video that suggests it's the 4G network itself.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-AQMMK87N2g
Verizon is supposed to be a great company! Why would they destroy their reputation just to make a quick few million dollars. The Customer Service/tech support was a horrible experience and the 4G network doesn't seem to work properly.
A call tonight to Verizon concluded with "well with any new technology there are bound to be some issues, over time Verizon should have some type of fix".
Where is the class action lawsuit?!?!

JV1, if you are early enough to get out of the contract, do it! If you browse through these forums (and other on internet) you will find this is Verizon 4G, it will NOT get better anytime soon. This problem has existed since launch, through the 4510L is the worst device they have, it's not the culprit, I have had all of them.  It is the network.
Oh and by the way, Verizon isn't stupid, someone else pointed out to me the small print on the contract prohibits you from pursuing a class action suit against them.  All disputes have to be settled by arbitration which is binding per contract.  Guess they knew this would happen......

  • 10.5.6 random hang under load

I upgraded two machines to 10.5.6. Since then, both have experienced random hangs -- cursor switches to busy spin, keystrokes are ignored, and the only way to regain control is to power off.
The firewall was disabled recently to install our network backup tools. I enabled firewall on one
of the machines, a Mac Pro (two interfaces, but only en0 is being used) . It hung today at about 8:30 AM:

Network Manager shows "Ethernet 2" as Not Connected,
    Status: cable is unplugged.
In the past, the port was used for "connection sharing", and there was a
cable plugged in with the other end disconnected, so it could be picking
up RF. I removed the interface from the NM list.

    Greetings,
You have something else wrong there, I updated my own 5 Macs, and 60 at the work site with no real troubles at all.
Dreamweaver works for me, as well as CS4, Suitcase, and many other heavy hitters. Mail, Safari, and all the standard apps that are part of Leopard, as well as iLife, and iWork, and Office 2008 all work fine.
I would uninstall DreamWeaver, and then re-install it. One person I know, not part of my group had similar issues as yours, and did just that, a re-install and it works fine now.
Like was stated in another post, there is some kind of corruption there. The update is not bad at all, in fact the only thing I noticed was, on one of my machines I have external speakers, and I get a loud pop at start up, but that will be fixed soon. That sort of thing is not that big an issue.
    Good Luck - Happy Holidays.
    Cheers,
    M.

  • Acrobat 7.0 Standard Random Hangs on scan-to-pdf

Scan to pdf will randomly hang about 3/4 of the way through a multi-page document scan with no error or warning messages.
Acrobat totally hangs (can't even move the window) and I have to kill the process in the task manager at which time a message appears saying "the process is waiting for input from you". There are no dialogs for input displayed.
System: WinXP, scanner is Dell 964 all in one, Acrobat 7.1.0.
I routinely scan multiple pages in the dell utility without problems.
Does anyone have a suggestion how to fix this or provide a method for debugging?
    Thanks.

If you can use AA7 on Win 7, you may be successful. However, you will have to print to the Adobe PDF print. If you were using an earlier version of WORD (2003), then PDF Maker may work. In any case, AcroTray will likely not work. That means you will have to print to the Adobe PDF printer with print-to-file selected. Then open that file in Distiller to complete the process. A bit combersome, but may work. I have done it with AA5 and Win 7 starter -- a bit of a pain and an upgrade is really appropriate. If you have a 64 bit system, you may be totally out of luck.
So, you may be successful in getting AA7 to work in some sense. Do not expect perfection of no errors. Good luck.

  • SRSS4.1 + SR270 + SRWC2.1 randomly hangs on 26D

    Dear Forum Users,
SunRay SR270 randomly hangs on OSD 26D.
We have two (2) sunray servers (2x T1000 on Solaris 10 10/08 ) and 51 SR270 clients. When user insert smartcard in sunray client, the sunray client will get dhcp ip from sunray server. Then SR270 will connect to Windows XP in VMWare ESX via SRWC2.1
Sometime when user insert the smartcard, they won't get Windows XP login window but hang and users can see OSD26D. If this problem happens, users will press Ctrl-Moon and the problem fixed after that This problem will happen randomly in all sunray clients.
    When one of the users sees OSD26D, i can see some error (CONFIG_ERROR) messages in sunray messages file;

Was an issue ever logged for this? We are experiencing the same problem. I would like to know if/how the issue was resolved.
It appears to be an issue with error handling in the HTTP BC. When we turned on profiling, we noticed the HTTPBC-JAXWS-Engine and HTTPBC-OutboundReceiver threads were locking. However, I can't tell 1) if the BPEL SE is producing bad data that is causing the HTTP BC to go down, 2) why an issue in one thread for lock the other threads, and 3) why the issue is intermittent and not more consistent.

  • Photoshop CS5 Randomly Hangs on New iMac

    Running on: Mac OSX 10.6.8          8GB RAM          Photoshop CS5 12.0.4 X64
    Dear all,
Designers running CS5 on new Mac hardware are experiencing random hangs with Photoshop.
This seems to be happening with no particular pattern EG: not when performing a specific action.
The hangs can last for a few minutes during which time the applicaiton becomes unusable and you get the spinning wheel of doom, the rest of the OS runs fine.
The problem does correct itself after five minutes and then the program becomes usuable again.
Any thoughts on this gratefully recieved. These are newly built computers and are not running many simultaneous applications.
    Kind regards
    Gareth

    Hi Charles,
Many thanks for your prompt response.
The only action which seems to lead to the hanging is Dragging (they think) we are unable to make it happen.
What I mean is we can't make it happen on demand, it seems to be random.
Clicking on the type tool does not seem to be a problem, is this a known issue?
    Thanks
    Gareth

  • Firefox 4 randomly hangs for a few seconds

When im browsing, Firefox 4 randomly hangs for ~10 seconds saying its "Not Responding", then it returns to normal.
I dont seem to see a pattern on when it hangs, sometimes its when i open new pages, sometimes im just scrolling, sometimes i'm not doing anything...
It didnt seem to happen before i updated to FFx 4
My best guess is it happens when its trying to "Sync"?
It's not that bad, but it gets annoying after a while.

It is also possible that Firefox is doing maintenance to places.sqlite (bookmarks and history). If you keep a large history or have a lot of bookmarks then you can check that out as well. Also make sure that security (anti-virus) software isn't blocking access to files in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder].
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.<br />
    See:
    * [[Basic Troubleshooting#Make_a_new_profile|Basic Troubleshooting&#58; Make a new profile]]
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins"
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)
    See:
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox

  • Since iOS 8, Siri hangs up while making a call through bluetooth in car

Since we got ios 8 on my 6plus, and my kid's 5s, we can use Siri to request directions and such through my 2008 Toyota Prius' bluetooth, but if we ask Siri to make a call, she says she'll do it, she begins to do it, and then hangs up the call immediately.
Anyone know of any workaround or fix? Is this some kind of ios8 bug?
Maps will give directions over the bluetooth, whether it's Apple Maps (once I changed the setting)  or Google Maps.
I can make phone calls, receive phone calls, dial from the car's dashboard, or dial from the phone. I can also redial from the car dashboard, leading me to think it's the hands free profile (not headset profile) that is in use.
I don't think my car has the A2DP profile for streaming audio (for example from iTunes). but that shouldn't matter.
I did try asking Siri to make a call on a bluetooth wireless speaker (has A2DP ) that also supports phone calls and that worked. .
I can't figure it out - Siri , "call my brother" >> Calling John >> Hangup!
Worked on my old 5 and my kid's 5s until recently. Help!

    Hi, mswaincpa.

We rolled out Windows 7 x32 to 1200+ computers and are having random issues with extremely long login times.  Most of the time users can log into the network without issues but I typically have several computers each week that hang at the

This morning the tech coordinator was stuck at the welcome screen for 30 minutes with 17 of the above messages until we forced the computer off and logged in successfully.  We rebooted immediately after logging into the computer and logged in a third
time without any issues.  I also checked the logs and didn't see or have any issues with the 2nd and 3rd login attempts.  The group policy client service also started successfully about 1 minute before the first error on the first attempt.
I also went through the Applications and Services Logs>Microsoft>Windows>GroupPolicy>Operational logs but didn't see any issues.  Here is the last entry in the log file until the reboot.  All 17 messages didn't generate any information
    in the GroupPolicy logs.

    Other Information
    1. Server OS - Windows 2008 R2 servers. ~20 servers with 7 DC's.
    2. Windows OS - Windows 7 x32 SP1 workstation. ~1200
    3. This happens on wireless and wired connections.
    4. This happens across all hardware and models of laptops and desktops.  Ranging from GX270 - Opti 760, Latitude D510 - Latitude E6410, Latitude 2100 - Latitude 2120's and all models in between.
    5. We are currently using SCCM 2012 to deploy images and applications.  The image was created through SCCM using Build and Capture so I never touched the image.
    6. The drivers were downloaded from Dell but this is happening on multiple machines so I don't think its driver related.
    7. We are using Forefront Antivirus.
    8. We upgraded the machines to 2Gig of ram and upgraded them from XP to Windows 7 this summer.
    9. We upgraded the servers from Windows 2003 R2 to Windows 2008 R2 this summer just before deploying Windows 7.
    10. This is only reported through the helpdesk on less than 10 computers each week but I'm told it happens more frequently when I'm in the buildings.
    11. We are using Group Policies to manage almost all aspects of the computer except for printers.  The printer drivers we are using are so slow that it added 60 to 180 seconds to the login time so I moved the printer mapping to a vbscript that
is launched through the logon script through a GPO.
Users are holding the power button in to shut down the machine as they can typically log in a second time without issues.  I have heard that a few people have issues logging into the computer the second time but it's normally running by the
    time I heard about it.
Are there any other logs that I can look at to troubleshoot this issue?  Thanks for taking the time to read this issue.

Hmmm hard to say. If I was going to take a stab at it you might be hitting a DC in a remote site.

  • Adobe AIR 3.4 for iOS - Compiler stalls/hangs & never creates ipa

So, I've run into a bit of a roadblock. I'm currently trying to package an iOS app that contains an ANE (iAd), SWC (tweener), and external AS file using Flash CS6. I've successfully packaged this app for Android as well as Blackberry, but iOS seems to be giving me a run for my money.
I've linked to the necessary external files as I did with Android. Same exact process that I've done at least 20 times with existing apps (with the exception of the SWC and External AS file). When I preview the swf, the swf compiles and plays perfectly fine. As it should. When I go to publish any type of ipa file, it initializes, creates the temp files/folders and then hangs. It never completely compiles the ipa file. I let it attempt to compile through several attempts, the longest being 30mins, before cancelling. I was wondering if anybody else is coming across this issue. Google searches didnt help much.
I've tried this with AIR 3.2, 3.3 and 3.4, none worked.
The compiled file size on Android is 1.6mb, so the external files aren't ridiculously huge.
I tried moving all external files into the root of the flash file, didnt help.
I attempted a command line package - same thing. Started compiling and then seemed to freeze
My last successful ipa compiled was 8/22. I'm not sure what the heck happened between now and then, or what the issue could be. No errors or warnings appear at any point throughout every test/attempt I've done. Running out of options. I appreciate any guidance/help that could be provided.

Ok, after much testing... I've pinpointed a potential problem. My external AS file is a dictonary word list of about 172k words written into an array. I had no problem compiling for Android or Blackberry, but the iOS packager doesn't seem to like it.
I originally had it loading from an external text file and creating the array at runtime, but I didn't like the way it functioned/processed. Much faster with a pre-made & sorted external AS file --
Once I removed the as file and created a very small array in place of it, Flash compiled the ipa fine.
With that said... is there any type of work around that doesnt involve loading and processing an external text file at runtime?
Or any other ideas I can attempt to make this thing work?

  • Pr CS6 on MacPRO 10.9.4 crashes randomly hang report shows Dispatch Thread Soft Limit Reached: 120

We have an Edit computer that IT brought back to us with a newly loaded Mavericks 10.9.4. and a fresh installation of CS6. We also have an added AJA LHi card.
Our editor is getting random crashes often while just searching through his clips. When I look at the diagnostic reports . I consistently see the message - Dispatch Thread Soft Limit Reached:  120  (too many dispatch threads blocked in synchronous operations). I will paste the whole hang report below.
Any ideas? I have found other threads on the net discussing this but nothing really specific to Adobe or CS6.

Update - The crashing seems to happen when the editor was going to a folder with lots of files. It seems like it is trying to open every file in a thumbnail preview mode that might be the problem. So I had him open a project with only a few files in a folder and it is stable for now. We are going to try and re-organize this particular project with  lees media in each folder.
Are there any guidelines of what the max amount of clips in a folder might be? Is there any way adjusting or turning off those thumbnail previews?

  • Solaris 10 hopelessly unreliable - random hangs

    Hi,
I have several systems which over recent months have just hung. They are all X86 systems running a variety of versions of Solaris 10 and 11. Latest system Solaris 10u5 fully patched.
There are no messages in /var/adm/messages. The systems have zfs filesystems active at the time that they hang (might or might not be significant). The latest crash occurred during a zfs receive operation, the only other activity on the system was firefox web browser. On another system which has hung three times in two days, we see lockd running with 53% of the cpu when the system starts to creak, cpu is 95-98% idle, the io is minimal but the system becomes unresponsive. A little later all network services become unresponsive and the console dies.
The only option is a power off.
We also have another solaris 10u5 box which randomly reboots, possibly even powers off and on again (yes its on a UPS and the other boxes on the same UPS are fine), again with no messages, thats a new sunfire x4100 box.
Anybody have any idea how to solve this one? I can't get into the machines at all do perform any diagnostics when they hang.
I need to upgrade our oracle server but if solaris 10 is this unreliable I can't.

Your right, I am referring to the x session. With all io operations apparently blocked I wonder if the serial port console will still operate? any thoughts.if ping responds, it'll most likely work. However, that's not what I meant by "console." I'm was talking about a non-X text display (you can select it from the login window). X does do file io at times (loading fonts and cursors, doing logging), so it can hang if the filesystem goes south.
Failing that I could run the system from the console. I looked for kadb just after my last post and noticed it had changed (just shows how long it has been since I last had cause to use it: :-< ).luckily it isn't too different. %-)
I did have x window displays with zpool iostat 5 and vmstat 5 and top running but when the hang occurs they look fine but stop updating. It's always a little tricky since X seized whether or not this is significant. I don't know what your free memory #s usually are - do know that zfs can get cranky rather quickly if your free drops below 100M.
Looks like we are on the trail of the 4100 power off, when the ups gets activated through a test or loss of mains everything in the rack stays up apart from the 4100. Looks like it's got a sensitive power supply we are going to place a support call to see if sun can shed any light on the problem.HW problems always adds spice to the mix...
As for the other machine that hung three times in as many days, well it's been running happily again for over a week we offloaded some of its shared filesystems but didn't change anything else.Hmmmm. Perhaps you have a bad spot on the disk? I just had a raptor die which caused the machine to appear as if it locked up. It hung the sata bus at the point of error, and the ata driver is too persistent in trying to read the block. You might try using format and do a analyze/read (non-destructive scan) to check this out.

  • IOS 8 Safari hangs entering text

Since upgrading to iOS 8 Safari is regularly hanging when I enter text. It is so bad I have had to install Chrome to post this report (no problems at all with Chrome needless to say).
Safari just hangs and there is nothing to be done until iOS tears the browser down and reloads - at which point any entered text is lost ...
    Any suggested fixes?
    (iPad 3 by the way)
    Thanks,
    Och

Same here on 4th-gen iPad.  100% reproducible in certain spots.  If I start to backspace and delete text, it gets real sluggish.  I'm wondering if the spell check is causing it to hang.  iOS 8 IS A DISASTER!

  • IOS 8 install hangs at logo (iPhone 5)

I'm trying to install iOS 8 on my iPhone 5. I had plenty of free space. The download appears to have gone fine.
However, it keeps hanging during the install.  I get the logo, and a progress bar is a third of the way through.  Rebooting doesn't help.  Every time, it hangs at the logo with the progress bar stuck.

I ended up having to do a factory restore.  It was a giant pain in the ***, and took hours.  I still don't have it back to where it was.
    Apple, this *****.
