IOS 6: texts sent to e-mail addresses arrive as .txt attachments

I located the follwoing Q & A on the Apple site. I have the same issue and cannot read the Verizon iPhone 4s/5 iOS 6 text messages on my Verizon Galaxy S III. Has anyone identified a solution?
(Q) A friend just updated his iPhone 4 to iOS 6, and now the texts he sends to my e-mail address are sent as a .txt attachment (titled "text_0.txt") instead of in the body of the e-mails.  This is a problem, since I can't open the .txt attachments on my Kindle Keyboard.  Any ideas how he can get the messages back in the body of the e-mails I receive from him?
(A)  I just received the below from Verizon today:
FREE VZW MSG-DO NOT REPLY: The issue with the text messages on iOS 6 has been escalated to Apple. I will contact you when I have more information.

I have this problem too, and have been following that apple thread since the beginning.  Its definitely a Verizon problem because ios6 users from all other carriers have not experienced this issue.  Seems like Verizon doesn't really care and has left me hoping that the 6.1 upgrade thats soon to come will fix it.

    I have the same issue. I cannot read Texts sent to my e-mail account from my family's iPhone 4s/5 iOS 6 Verizon devices when using my Samsung Galaxy SIII (also Verizon).  I need to access the iOS 6 device originated e-mails on my laptop in order to read the text_0.txt attachments.
    Does anyone have a solution?

  • Why can't I forward a text to my e-mail address?

    When I try to forward a text I have received to my e-mail address, I get a message that says: "Cannot send the attached object to e-mail address". What does this mean? I would like to be able to do this. Please help.

    SMS-toEmail is only supports up to 160 characters which includes the destination email address. If you try to send 160 or more characters then you get that poorly-worded message.
    As an example, if you were trying to forward a text to [email protected] then you would have only 133 characters remaining since [email protected] uses 26 characters of the available 159 characters.
    If the text you are trying to forward is over 159 characters then you need to edit the text into shorter pieces.

  • Someone else is receiving texts sent to my email address

    My mother and I do not have associated apple IDs or iTunes accounts. We have COMPLETELY separate phone accounts as well. But, for some reason, she receives any and all messages sent via text message to my email address.
    I have looked at her phone to see what Apple ID is associated with it - it isn't mine. I have looked at the devices managed by my iTunes account - they are all mine.
    I have no idea how this could be happening. I have never used her phone for anything and do not think I have ever logged in to my iTunes account from her computer.
    I have not lived in the same house as her for over 15 years. We are both adults. Totally confused.
    Any ideas?

    It may be the forwarding of messages.  Check Settings >Messages>Text message Forwarding.  When you tap on Text Message Forwarding it will display all of the devices that get it.  If  any devices are marked you just turn it off and the messages should stop being forwarding.    Hope that help!

  • How do I move texts to my e-mail address and what has to be set in my settings??

    How do I move a text message to my e-mail address

    One way is to enable iCloud and start using the @me.com email address as your default.  iCloud will sync with Outlook automatically once you download the iCloud control panel and it set up (see http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/pc.html).  You can maintain your current email if you wish and just have incoming mail forwarded to your @me.com address.

  • PDF reports sent using MS Mail always named "untitled.txt"

    We are using CR for .NET with VS 2005 developing an application that needs to export PDF versions of reports as email attachments.  While it works the problem we have is that the attachment is always named "untitled.txt".  The attachment actually is a PDF - renaming the extension to "pdf" allows Adobe Reader to open and display the report just fine.  Here is the code used to export the report:
            CrystalDecisions.Shared.PdfRtfWordFormatOptions pdfOpts =
               CrystalDecisions.Shared.ExportOptions.CreatePdfRtfWordFormatOptions();
            CrystalDecisions.Shared.MicrosoftMailDestinationOptions mailOpts =
               CrystalDecisions.Shared.ExportOptions.CreateMicrosoftMailDestinationOptions();
            CrystalDecisions.Shared.ExportOptions exportOpts = new CrystalDecisions.Shared.ExportOptions();
            pdfOpts.UsePageRange = false;
            exportOpts.ExportFormatOptions = pdfOpts;
            mailOpts.MailMessage = "See attached Action Plan for " + qar.FormNumber;
            mailOpts.MailSubject = aiRows[0].ActionID + " Action Plan";
            mailOpts.MailToList = emailAddresses;
            exportOpts.ExportDestinationOptions = mailOpts;
            exportOpts.ExportDestinationType =
               CrystalDecisions.Shared.ExportDestinationType.MicrosoftMail;
            exportOpts.ExportFormatType =
               CrystalDecisions.Shared.ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat;
            report.Export(exportOpts);
    What can we do to supply a meaningful name for the attached file, and ensure it bears the correct "pdf" extension?
    Thanks,
    Mitchell

    I have exactly the same problem. Has anyone come up with a solution? In CR8.5 the attachment was automatically created with the report file name and a pdf extension, which while not perfect was a good deal better than the current situation.

  • When i send a text via icloud my e-mail address is sent at the same time ?

    when i send a text via icloud my e-mail address is sent at the same time instead of the reciever getting my number or if i am in their phonebook they should get my name

    Welcome to the Apple community.
    Check your settings> messages and see if iMessages is turned on and if so how many 'receive at' addresses you are using, it may well be that your email address is entered as one of these addresses.

  • I receive a text from someone but it has an e-mail address at top of message. When I reply and send , it gets returned. Why? and how was original message sent?

    I have downloaded I-Cloud and the new ios program. Where do my text go through now if they don't show up on my bill in the data usage section? When I get a text from friends sometime their e-mail address shows at the top of the message instead of their name like it use to. Then when I reply it gets returned. They tell me they are sending it through the normal text like they use to.

    You are probably right - I don't have my iPad with me and was confusing myself.  But on the iPad it is receive at email addresses only.
    Sending to the phone number will mean ONLY your iPhone gets the message.  If you want it to go to ALL devices, then you should have them send to the email address associated with the AppleID you used to set up iMessage originally.  Also set that email address up as your caller id on the iPhone so as you send out messages, people will reply to that and both your devices should get them.
    Although Apple's notes indicate you should be able to do it - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2755
    what if you just type in a 10-digit phone number on the iPad instead of an email?
    (I originally did all this with iOS 5.0, and I know then the number did not work on an iPad, but maybe with iOS 5 updates, it does now?)

  • Sending texts: iOS asks mobile # or e-mail address(es)

    Any reason iOS asks whether you want to send an SMS to a contact's mobile phone number or their e-mail addresses when you click the "Text Message" button when looking at a person's contact information page? Shouldn't "text message" assume sending it to a phone number, not an e-mail address? This has driven me nuts since my first 2G iPhone.

    I don't think so. When i open the Exchange contact on the iPhone (Contact --> Linked --> Exchange) the work number is not tagged as mobile end there is no message icon next to the phone number.

  • Send Incoming Texts (IMESSAGE) to My E Mail Address

    I researched a post that stated to "add my email address (make sure the checkmark is there) to settings, messages, send messages to...."
    I did that, and tested it but it does not work.   The incoming text does not appear in my e mail in box.
    I operate a business where everything has to be documented for the file.  When I receive data from a client in text form, I have to be able to print the text.  I did so in the past by simply e mailing the text to myself.  Asking clients to not text me is not an option.
    I converted to IPHONE today from Android, and cannot find anything similar to the Zee Software app that specifically allows any text to be sent to any desired e mail address.  I have done quite a bit of searching and am not finding anything commensurate w/ IPHONE.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?  I can't be the only IPHONE user that has to print their texts but I can't seem to find any solution.
    I'm aware of the screenshot method but that is not a feasible long term solution b/c most of my incoming texts and threads are longer than one screen-shot's worth of data.
    Thank you for any suggestions.

    How are you trying to change it ?
    You should be able to log out of an account by clicking on it at the top left of the store's pages on your computer's iTunes, or via the Store > Sign Out menu option (if you are using a PC and the drop-down menus aren't showing at the top of iTunes then control-B should get them to show). You can then sign in with your own account (the Store > Sign Out menu option should change to a Sign In option) - does that work ?

    the problem I have since I upgraded to Mavericks version 10.9.1
    The problem appears only with Mail not with other programs, not even with my browser.
    When I try to zoom the text of an e-mail I received or sent , I can no longer use the keys Command + to enlarge the text, although I can reduce it with Command -.
    As I have a problem with my eyes, This is a serious matter for me.
    When I write an e-mail, if I select text and press Command +, it just displaces the text to the right.
    Now, my husband has a USB keyboard. If he connects it to my computer, his regular Command + does not work either, but  he uses the extended keyboard, then it works. Unfortunately, he needs it for a musical application which does not work with a wireless keyboard.

    Firefox 3.6.4 and 3.6.6 use a process called, "plugin-container.exe" which was using up most of my CPU when I opened up multiple tabs that contained Adobe Flash files, and caused Firefox to lock up.
    My solution was to use Firefox 3.5.10 which you can get from the Mozilla website at [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html]
    I am using Adobe Flash 10.1.53.64 without any problem in this version of Firefox. Check the release notes, I believe it contains all the latest security fixes in "Firefox 3.6.4".
    Hopefully, they will fix Firefox 3.6 in the next version (e.g. Firefox 3.6.7), until then you should probably use "Firefox 3.5.10".

    Is he getting your SMS messages (green) or your iMessages (blue). If SMS message, go to Settings>Messages and turn off Text Forwarding. If blue, are you sharing an Apple ID? You should each have your own.

  • In Mail, how do I make it so that email replies to me are sent to the email address from which I sent my original message?

    I have two IMAP accounts set up in Mail, one work and one personal. The personal account also receives emails from a third account (but I have that set up through gmail's forwarding, not Mail). I am sending emails from my work account and replies are coming to this third account, which I don't want to happen.
    How do I make it so that replies to me are sent to the email address from which I sent my original message?
    Thanks for your help!

    Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • No Texting Ability with BES/Multiple e-mail addresses - BB 8900

    Hello all,
      1.  I recently dumped my iPhone and switched to the BB 8900, all is well except I use my BB for work and my company disabled my text message feature and IM feature.  I am able to receive text messages but I can no longer respond.  Any ideas on how to begin sending text with enterprise software, either through an app or through the web?
      2.  I have Microsoft Exchange Outlook as my default e-mail address.  From the gentlemen I spoke with in my office they notified me I could only use my outlook e-mail(corporate).  Although, I spoke with our Tech office and they notified me some individuals can have a second e-mail address.  How would I be able to add an extra e-mail (Yahoo!).
      Sorry if my questions are elementary but I appreciate any helpful information.  Thank You,
    Mike

    Hi Michael and welcome to the Blackberry Forums
    If you can't send SMS is because your IT guys block the function, and you can't change this.
    You have a setup mail icon on the device?, if yes, try setting the yahoo mail from this icon, i think you have blocked too, but try..............
    If I help you with any inquire, thank you for click kudos in my post.
    If your issue has been solved, please mark the post was solved.
