IOS 7.0.2 update and "Recovery Mode"

I recently updated to iOS 7.0.2 on my iPad. While downloading, an error occurred and my iPad was said to be in "Recovery Mode" and had to be restored. Could it be hacked or damaged? Further more, can any iPhone, iPod, or iPad get be infected if not jailbroken?

Currently there's no known virus affecting iPad as long as you don't Jailbreak your iPad.

Bit of background so I don't waste anyone's time:
IPhone 4s, itunes 11.1 (both on computer and iphone)
I too am stuck in this recovery loop. I've read all over the community and have tried the suggestions:
I put my phone in DFU mode & also recovery mode (a.e. hold home/sleep button down for 10 seconds, etc., etc., etc.) and tried restoring this way 10 different times, as some posts say it sometimes works after the 4-5 try but still no results.
On my Iphone Screen the apple logo appears and the status bar below it gets stuck about 2/3 of the way, then I get the following error message, "could not restore because of unknown error (1)".
I set up an appt. at the apple store for tomorrow, but holy sh*t what a fiasco!
Any suggestions?

Whats the difference between DFU mode and recovery mode ?
I want to do a clean install of the new ios 8.1.3 which the mode is the best ? I want to make it as a new one (someone else used it before)

If you already have 8.1.3 on your device, there is no way (and no need) to reinstall it. However, if you want the device cleared of all former user's info, then go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Settings. Then you can set your device up as new.
If you are having issues with the previous owner's iCloud account still being signed on and asking for a password, there is no way around that save having the previous owner remove the Activation Lock.

Use iTunes on any computer to restore your iPhone. Your data
will be gone, but your iPhone will be functioning. You can restore
when you get home.

HELP.!! iphone 3gs not detected in windows 8 even in dfu and recovery mode?

i have an IPhone 3gs which was working fine and one day computer ,after connecting my iphone there was no beep sound and no disk drive. and itunes and other softwares are not detecting it even though it is charging fine.
i have tried different computer and different wires.
i have windows 8 with latest itunes and latest software installed in device manager.
i have tried putting it in both dfu mode and recovery mode.
P.S : it is jailbroken and factory unlocked. and i live in PAKISTAN where there is no apple customer care.

Not sure if this applies to your region, but in Australia the SIM password is often written on the "credit card" sized plastic card that the SIM was provided to you with the phone by the telco. Do you still have this? It could be in the iPhone box?

Hold the Home + Power button simultaneously for 10 to 30 seconds. Your device should boot into it's original state. If it doesn't, put your device into DFU mode (Google/Youtube how to do so.), and restore your device.

New ios 7.1.2 update and battery drainage

i recently updated my iphone 4s to the new ios 7.1.2 update and was fine for a few days afterwards, until the past day where even when charging it charges very slowly and only charged 20% while on charge for 6+ hours, ive never had a problem with my phone prior this update. ive tried resetting all settings, resetting it by holding the home and lock button together. nothing seems to work. The problem is not iOS 7.1.2. If it was the problem would have occurred immediately. You have an app that is using power continuously, or your battery is failing. If you take it to an Apple store they can test the battery. Make an appointment first. I don't think I back uped anything. I assume it was already going to do that like most times..
I downloaded and updated the phone with the iOS6, but then an error occurred saying that the phone can't be updated. It then turned into recovery mode and suggests that the only way to use the phone is if I restore it.. which I really can't do! I still have lots of photos..
Please, I regret not having backing up just in case, but is there any way to somehow 'undo' the recovery mode and bring it back to normal (regardless of which iOS it has)? Please, I really would appreciate a solution, any solution.

What's wrong with you guys.. you must ALWAYS back it up before anything major like this.
If it's not too late, and i do not know if this will work or not.. but download something like TinyUmbrella or any program that will allow you to kick it out of Recovery Mode and back to regular. May or may not work but worth a shot.

I updated to the latest IOS about a week ago and my phone became very buggy. I would have music playing and if i hit the next song the music app would close and almost all other apps would crash when trying to go to different windows. So i tried restore because it says "if you are experiencing problems with your iphone, you can restore its original settings by clicking restore" so thats exactly what i wanted. Now every time I try to restore i get an error 21. I have googled this and havent seen any solutions. Right after it extracts the software to restore the iphones screen goes from the "connect to itunes" screen to a quick flash then the apple logo. Please help its my only phone.
Also this thing has been taken care of perfectly. No water damage, in an otter box. Not a single scratch on it.

I should add that this has never been Jailbroken. I keep reading that a lot of times this is the case for a jail broken phone.
I have also gone through the not very helpfull steps on apples site to fix this.. It is not a security issue since i dont have an antivirus or any 3rd party software for my computer.

The message means what it says. Unfortunately something went wrong and you will have to restore your iPad now. If you have a backup, you can restore from the backup after you restore the iPad to factory settings. If you have no backup, you have to start all over again.
You can download much of your purchased content again in the purchased tabs of iTunes or the app stores or if you sync with iTunes ( if you sync with iTunes you should have some sort of backup) you can sync your content back to the iPad.
