IOS 7.0.3 iMessage

Still an issue.  I txt my wife and when she resplys her txt comes back in a whole new conversation.  Sometimes I have to restart my phone and I'll get her messages after the restart.  Great job Apple!! Feel like I have Droid again.  Anyone else having similar problems?

I'm on 7.0.4 and it hasn't solved the problem.  I had to turn off iMessage in order for a fellow iPhone use to receive my reply.  However other iPhone users and smartphones could receive my replies or initial contact.  I tried deleting the contact and re-entering their number, rebooting but it still never worked until iMessage was off on my end.  Strange right?

Ever since I updated my iPhone 4S and my iPad 2 to IOS 6 all my iMessages are coming to both my iPhone and my IPad. How do I stop the iMessages I send and receive on my phone from receiving on my iPad as well? I have tried going into my settings and making sure I'm only set up to receive iMessages to my cell number and not my email....but that didn't fix the problem.

Here the way to do it, for both, or for only one Go into your settings, Messages and turn on iMessage. It will then send messages that are iMessages to both your iPad and iPhone. You can also turn off this feature on the iPad if you do not want to receive messages on the iPad.

I still have an iPhone, but haven't turned it on for weeks. And there's no SIM in it, so no cell service, just WiFi.  When I turn it on after a prolonged period of having it off (weeks), a bunch of messages popup that should have been forwarded to my new phone (same phone number and carrier as when I was an iPhone user) but appear to sit in iMessage queue indefinitely instead.
I'm guessing it has to do with the link that's made when an iPhone first realizes that it's talking to another iPhone and defaults, for all future texts, to iMessage.  You know, the green to blue switch.  How does that association get undone?
Has anyone else seen this, and if so, is there a fix?

  • After upgrading to iOS 7.0 my iMessage doesn't work and it says it is "waiting for authorization". When I try to activate it, it won't connect.

I upgraded to iOS 7.0 and now my iMessage doesn't work. My phone reads "waiting for activation" When I try signing in I get a message "Could not sign in. Please check your network connections and try again". My network connection is fine for all other applications. Any help?

    Hello Remundy,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with iMessage.  I recommend reviewing the following article:

  • Looks like iOS 6.1 breaks iMessage

Updated to iOS 6.1 recently & iMessage now only shows my email address with phone number greyed out, not even a tick next to it. As you can see from the screenshot.
From this you can also see that it uses my Apple ID for starting new convos, not the @me one (though thats not the issue)
Nice one Apple, now that i've updated to your new iOS its messed up my iMessage, and a lot of others from the looks of it
I shoulda just stayed on 5.1.1
oh and btw, its been left overnight to see if that helps. SIM card taken out and put back in again, imessage turned off and on again, region set properly, phone number set properly, Rebooted numerous times, Restored as backup twice, restored as NEW iPhone 3 times.
They really need to sort this out.

I installed the iOS 6.1 update last week on both an iPad and iPhone, and only just discovered today that messages people were trying to send me since last week, which normally only went to my iPhone, were going to the ipad instead. During the update, I did confirm the new message settings on both devices (telling iOS my phone # and other email addresses associated with myself), but had no idea it would cause the first device to take control of all messages (the iPad). This is not at all the behavior I would have expected. At the very least, the iPad should have asked "do you want this device to be your primary iMessage device?" - which I would have clearly understood, and answered with a big no.
Apple, for the past year, every time you've tried to integrate messaging and communications like this across all our devices, and your own business partners, it's gone wrong. My Contacts are still filled with Facebook email addresses, instead of the actualy email addresses I had originally listed for my Contacts - only because they never heard they needed to update their Facebook settings before everyone updated their iOS devices. And now, this messaging snafu which caused me to miss communications on my phone, while the other device sitting in my living room took over without my express permission.
Anyway, now iMessage is completely turned off on my ipad. And it'll stay off until I can figure out how to perminently make a particular device the primary one, and keep others from taking over.

  • HT201210 after install ios 6.1.3 imessage cant use

my iphone 4 after install ios 6.1.3 imessage, facetime and icloud cant use

"We're Sorry, Activation Server Temporarily Unavailable, contact Customer Care...Could Not Be Completed?"
99.9% of the time, the cause of this issue is the fact the phone was jailbroken/hacked to unlock it for use on networks other than the network the phone was originally locked to. Apple maintains a database of officially unlocked iPhones, and when Apple's servers detect phones such as yours, activation stops & you get the message you got.
So, you need to get a sim card from the carrier the phone was originally locked to, or get it officially unlocked, if you want to activate it. Because it appears that it was not officially unlocked.

    Hi there skmonirul,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
From what I gather, iMessages are taking longer than expected to send on your iPhone 4s. If you aren’t seeing issues with other apps, try restarting your iPhone as shown here:
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
If the issue persists, try restoring your iPhone as shown in the article below.

    So long,

iOS 4.3.5 is not the same as iOS 5. iOS 5 with the new features you list has not been released.

    Hey Lakedrive442,
It sounds like you have changed your Apple ID which you use with iTunes.  If so there are several places you may need to update it as outlined in this article.

Of course some might not apply, but many might.

  • How do I get my old (non-iOS) number off of imessage?!

I recently sold my iPhone 3GS and ported the number out to Google Voice.  This old number is now forwarded to a new number on an employer provided 4S.  I figured I could save some money, avoid the hassle of carrying two phones, and, at the same time, keep my personal number.  I read about all of the problems that would happen if I did not turn off imessage before porting a number away from iOS and was determined to not let it happen to me.  Well...it happened anyway.
Before doing anything, I SHUT OFF iMESSAGE.  I then ported the number out and cancelled my account, removed the SIM (AT&T), did a complete wipe/restore of the iphone, unregistered the iphone from my support profile, and sold the phone.  From what I can tell from all of the support forum posts, I did everything I was supposed to do to ensure I would have no issues with imessage.  I was so sure of myself, I didn't even bother to test it.  I wish I had.
Despite my efforts, I am still not receiving text messages from iOS imessage users because messages from them to me still default to imessage instead of SMS.  It doesn't seem to matter if they have the "Send as SMS" option toggled on or off...I will not get the message regardless.  I've had people delete entire message strings and delete/replace my contact info in an effort to fix.  No luck.  I even had a stranger at work who did not have my contact info test it out for me.  When he tried to text me, it defaulted to imessage.  I must point out that I have ZERO issues receiving SMS messages.
How can this be?  And how do I go about correcting the issue?  I've already spent about an hour on the phone with Apple and about an hour at the genius bar (where the issue was successfully demonstrated first hand when a "genius" tried to text me from his phone).  They claim that they had no prior knowledge of any issues with imessage and suggested that I tell all of my contacts with iphones to simply "just remember" to send me SMS only.  Seriously?  This is an unreasonable request...and certainly not a fix.  After arguing for a while, they took my contact info and "escalated the issue to engineering."  It's now been three weeks and I've heard nothing.
Any suggestions?  I'm guessing that someone, somewhere at Apple can somehow remove the association between imessage and my old number from the server...somehow.  Any help would be appreciated, especially any help regarding how to successfully escalate issues within Apple support.

If you registered your 3GS with Apple, another step you can take that may help is to unregister it by doing the following:
    Go to: https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do
Log in if not already logged in.
Click on ">" to the right of the phone listing
    Click "unregister"
Sometime this helps unregister a phone number with the iMessage server.

  • IPhone 4s iOS 5.1 update, iMessage- my contact is coming up as my apple ID

I updated my iphone 4s to ios 5.1 last night and then today when I texted someone else with an iPhone using iMessage, my contact came up as my Apple ID email on their phone instead of my name that was associated with my phone number. This obviously caused a lot of confusion because my email isn't my name and the person I texted didn't know who the message was from. The message looks completely normal on my phone and their contact came up fine but mine didn't work on theirs. I also determined it was my phone that was the problem because I texted another person with an iPhone and the same exact thing happened again. I checked to see if anyone else had this problem and I couldn't find any postings on the Apple forum. So if you are having the same problem and/or know how to fix it, please help!

Go into Settings>Messages>Receive at>See that the phone number is the one that is checked off.
EDIT: Sorry, I forgot, there is one more layer, scroll down to Caller ID and make sure the phone number is the one checked. For some reason mine sometime today showed an error for the phone number. It wasn't that way even after the update. I just toggled iMessage off and back on and that corrected it.

  • Problem with iOS 7 - picture/video iMessages bug?

I've been trying to send this in as feedback but it hasn't been going through. So I'll post it here. Maybe someone has an answer, or maybe it's a bug that Apple needs to look at.
I think these are bugs. First of all, I love that we can now send up to 20 items that include both video and pictures.
    1) When sending images or videos via iMessage, it doesn't always work. It may work after I quit the photos and messages app a few times and then try to send, but if I send some and try to send some more right after (straight from the photos app), they don't go through. I get the message window open and I choose the recipient and I hit send, but nothing happens after that. The only way I've been able to get around it is to select the items and copy and paste them directly into the messages app. Please fix this, it would make things much more efficient.
    2) when there are multimedia messages, the messages app does not archive them in the conversation. Meaning, when you scroll up in a conversation, it continues to scroll up and the app loads every single message at once rather than giving you the option to pull down to load more. I've noticed that is still there when the messages are all text. But when there are pictures/videos involved, they don't get archived and this severely impacts loading time when opening up the messages. Sometimes they won't open at all and freeze because of all the memory it requires just to load everything. It happens on my end as well as with the person on the other end of the conversation - both of us are on iOS 7. I'm on an iPhone 4S and they have an iPhone 5. This has been happening since the upgrade to iOS 7.
These are pretty big bugs and should be addressed ASAP. Thanks.

I have had numerous problems with sending media in messages either from messages or from photos app as well.
In general it seems this new os version was kind of rushed and is still very buggy throughout.  the 7.1 update should rectify the most common issues (i hope), but definitely try the feedback page again.

  • IOS 5.0.1 imessage

I've just updated my software to IOS 5.0.1, apparantly, message bubble icon should appear in blue if both parties uses an iphone with imessage. However, it seems that my message bubble still remain as green when I'm using iphone 4 while the other party uses iphone 4S IOS 5.0.1 ?? why is that so?
I've tried restarting my phone however, problem wasn't solved.

Make sure that the person you are texting has imessage turned on and not off.
