IOS 7.0.3: iPhone 5 keeps searching for a network without sim
Hi there
I update my iPhone 5 from 7.0.2 to 7.0.3 yesterday.
Since then my iPhone does not care about the sim card.
I can remove the sim card and the iPhone keeps searching for a network.
Whe I insert another sim, the iPhone does not ask for a pin.
I did a iPhone Restore. Saddly the bug is still there.
My problem no is, I cannot activate my iPhone after the restore, because of the sim card problem.
Is there a simple solution, or shoud I go to an Apple Store?
Thanks!
My solution was the Recovery Mode:

Hi NWL1,
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, the iPhone won't update and is stuck. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.

Unable to sync over wifi - iPhone keeps searching for the macbook
When I try to sync my iPhone 4 (iOS 5) with itunes it just keeps searching for my macbook but is apparently unable to find it - it does not sync. I have set up both iTunes and the phone to sync over wifi and they are on the same wifi network, and itunes is open on the macbook. What can be wrong?

IPhone keeps searching for network even w/o sim card
Good morning,
my iPhone doesn't connect to my network anymore. I flew from Europe to the US a few days ago and it worked just fine in the beginning, but when I went on the subway and lost reception it didn't come back. A quick restart of the phone helped the first time. Now it happened again yesterday when I went on the subway and the reception hasn't come back since....
The Phone never asks me for the PIN if I restart the phone, even though it should and all it says is "Searching....", even if I remove the SIM it says "Searching..." instead of "No SIM".
I can still use Wifi though!
Here is what I've already tried:
Restarted the phone several times (both regular and the two-button way)
Reset all settings
Reset network settings (twice)
Switched airplane mode on/off several times (it was on for several hours over night)
I have tried a different sim card of a different carrier, so it's definitely the Phone.
I really want to avoid to delete everything. Does anyone have any idea how to solve that?
I appreciate any advice. Thank you in advance!Next step is to back up and restore your software.

Iphone 6 searching for available networks
I have my second generation ipad (with software updates) next to my iphone 6. The ipad very quickly displays the available networks; however, the phone is forever searching (buffering wheel). I restarted the phone and it then worked fine. Please notify apple if you have the same issue. It looks like from my research that this is a common problem that apple needs to fix.

IPhone 5 keeps searching for carrier.
I have an unlocked iPhone 5. I recently updated my iPhone to iOS 7 and now it keeps searching for carrier. What should I do?
Well, it seems the phone is working again now. I've tried to restore it several times (which didn't work) but after restoring it from backup (iCloud) the phone seems to work again.
It's not a real solution becouse I've tried to restore it several times without result. Very very very strange problem... -
Won't search for wireless networks
My iPhone 4S (iOS 5.1.1) won't search for wireless networks. At all. It's irritating because I can't backup or sync without being on a wireless network.
If I go to Settings > Wi-Fi, I show that it's on but the wheel just spins and spins on "Choose a Network" but none show up, even though I know there are at least 5 in my immediate area.
I've tried turning off the Wi-Fi, then on again.
I've tried resetting the Network Settings.
I've tried turning the phone off then on again.
So far, nothing has worked.
Any suggestions?OK, I see you indicated that you turned the phone off and back on again, but did you do a soft reset? Hold down the Home button and the Sleep button at the same time and hold them down until you see the silver Apple (ignore the red slider if it appears). This will restart your iPhone but you won't lose any settings or anything.
Cheers,

Can i stop airport from searching for additional networks after connecting to a network
Airport keeps searching for additional networks after connecting to my wireless router. Can I stop this? does this effect system performance?
No, it doesn't affect performance. And, it only occurs prior to connection to the desired network or when you click on the menubar icon for Airport.

My iphone 3g is keep searching for network, and the carrier unable to load network list , wat shall i do?
Yes, that kind of tallies with my experience ... after 3 days of useless iPhone 3G (BTW, killing 3G on the phone and relying on acquiring AT&T 2G didn't help, it still locked onto T-Mobile with the result that it was draining battery and rebooting frequently!), I ended up visiting the local Apple Store.
Although the visit was not to resolve the iPhone problem, whilst there I happened to cycle the phone and due to the store having a local AT&T cell, the strength of the local signal meant that I finally re-acquired a AT&T 3G signal ... once locked on again the phone was fine for the next day.
Nett outcome of this is that I would prefer to lay most of the blame for this debacle on the poor state of 3G support both by AT&T (and US carriers in general), maybe exacerbated in my case by two related events (the local DNC in Denver, which saturated local AT&T cells including 3G and a proliferation of v2.0.0 and v2.0.1 firmwares on iPhones in town, which dragged cell coverage into the weeds).
It would be nice for future sanity if AT&T and T-Mobile could at least resolve the ability to acquire/release the iPhone gracefully, otherwise I'll be very sceptical of travelling back to the US with only my iPhone, as a self-employeed consultant I can't afford to be out of touch for three days again! -
Has anyone else had issues with phone network being unavailable on iPhone 4 since updating to iOS 5.0.1? My iPhone 4 is continually searching for a network and does not find AT&T, my provider. I swapped SIM cards with another iPhone 4 running ios 4 and established this is a device problem, not a SIM card problem.
Does the device get any signal?
Sounds like the device may have had a hardware failure. If it is out of warranty, the only option is the Out of Warranty replacement.
AppleCare is only an option if it is still under the original warranty. -
IPhone says searching for service after ios 7.1.1 update! HELP!
I updated my iPhone 5c to the iOS 7.1.1 last night and didn't think I would have any problems. I went to bed and woke up this morning with my phone in the top left corner saying "Searching..." and the the wifi symbol.
I went to check my setting to see if my data was off, but when I went into the settings app and clicked the tab labed "Celluar" the app crashed and took me back to the home screen. It does this everytime I try and go into that tab! So, I have no idea what it going on with my phone! I can't make calls, send texts through my phone number (I can still send iMessages when connected to wifi), the screen glitches and moves when I go into apps, the battery life is now terrible and drains really fast. Everything about my phone was perfectly fine until I updated it to the iOS 7.1.1, so I believe something must have went wrong when it was updating.
Overall these are my main problems:
-iPhone is "Searching" for phone service (which means I have no service so no calls or texts can be sent or recieved)
-Cellular tab in settings crashes
-Battery drains over 2x faster than normal
-Screen seems to glitch or move when I open appsHi SamSam1103,
If you are having multiple issues with your iPhone after a recent update, your best course of action may be to back up your content to iTunes, restore the phone to factory settings, then test to see if the issues persist in its default config before bringing back your content from the backup. After updating to IOS 8.2 my iphone 5 constantly searches for a network. I have tried resetting network, restoring from an earlier back up, resetting as a new phone - all of which have been unsuccessful… HELP !!
Hi chuckrabaw,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it sounds like the iPhone is searchiong for a network. It looks like you have already done some troubleshooting. There are a few steps listed in this article you did not mention trying, they may be able to help the issue.

As soon as I keep the iPhone (iPhone 5) on the desk the network goes off and when I swipe it then only it starts searching for the network and get it in 30 seconds.
If someone is calling me during that time it says mobile is either switched off or outside the coverage area.
Please helpYou may need to force it into recovery mode. See here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/17766427#17766427
