IOS 7.0 on iPad mini is working terribly, any helpful ideas?

I updated my iPhone 5 and my iPad mini to iOS 7.0 and got very mixed results. For the iPhone 5, things seem pretty decent. I am not used to the interface changes yet, but everything seems to work.
For the iPad mini, though, things are really bad. It literally takes 3-5 seconds or so to register a keystroke on my passcode login. Once logged in, if I try to search in Safari, it similarly has massive delays before it registers keystrokes. It completely locked up once. I'm guessing I will have to try to revert to iOS 6, but I figured I would ask if anybody has any workarounds first?

Okay, for other people running into this issue, try resetting your settings:
Settings ~> General ~> Reset ~> Reset All Settings
Just resetting the settings worked for me. I did not have to erase.

  • IOS 5 update for iPad 2 not working?? HELP!

I have been attempting to do the iOS 5 update for my iPad 2 for the past couple of weeks. Every single time I try and update it, it will be almost complete and then say network connection error. I thought maybe my internet was not working properly but have tried at a few other places with a different wi-fi conncection. I even did it at someones house where they succesfully updated their iPhone. Am i doing something wrong, or is there something wrong with my iPad?? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

iOS 5 is not worth the headaches you're going to get with your iPhone and/or your iPad.  It is a terribly "buggy" opearting system right now.  It causes all sorts of problems with your devices.  I'm sure Apple is aware of the problems, and will release a "release" to correct their previous "release".  I'm thinking of going back to iOS 4.  My phone was faster, apps didn't crash, don't care about being able to edit pictures in the camera, since I have tons of photo apps that have better editing options than the iPhone camera.  The reminders pulldown is pretty much useless, and I forget it's even there.

After ios 7 update on ipad mini, auto rotation stop working. Anyone facing this issue too?

    for ipad,
    if you go to settings-General
You can select between using the side switch to lock rotation or mute.  If you select one mute, then the lock rotation icon will show up in the control center.  If you select lock rotation, then the mute will show up.  THe side switch is then used for the other option.

    Hi bhaity2014,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you are concerned that your iPhone 4 running iOS 7 may not be recognized in iTunes 12. Your iPhone 4 running iOS 7 should have no issues being recognized or syncing with iTunes 12. • My iPad mini is working on it own even I'm not touching it. I tried to reset it but nothing works to fix it! Pls help.

My iPad mini is working on its own even I'm not touching it. It's even changing from one apps to the other without my control! And type on its own!! I tried to reset all contents setting many times but it does not fixed the problem. Please help me!

Erasing the device doesn't do any good if there is a problem with the iOS software. That merely removes the contents and settings from the iPad. You need to restore to factory settings and restore the iOS.

  • IOS 7 calendar on iPad mini

I upgraded to iOS 7 on my iPad mini.  On the monthly calendar, the gray font is very hard to read. It is especially hard to read when you have the purple and blue highlighting on the "events".  I know there are workarounds like looking at the weekly list, but I want to be able to glance at my monthly calendar and see clearly what events are scheduled for the month. I do not like the " invert colors" in settings so that is not an option. Does anyone know how to turn the gray color to black or another color?

On my iMac, the event font on the monthly calendar is much easier to see than the iPad mini.  With the iPad mini that light gray against white is really tough to see.   Using another calendar could be an option, but it is just a "work around" for a very simple issue. Attached is a picture of the calendar.

  • Since updating to IOS 8.1 on ipad mini can't download apps.  Apps show "waiting." Have reset to new condition with no improvement.  Any solution?

Since updating to IOS 8.1 on ipad mini can't download apps from iTunes store.  Apps show "waiting." Have reset to new condition with no improvement.  Also turned off Wi-Fi and re-connected.   Any solution?  Thanks,

If you restored your iPad as new, and it still didn't help, I don't know if anything in here will help. in any event, I have posted this boilerplate of suggestions many times in the past and the suggestions in here have worked for others at one time or another. Feel free to give them a try.
    1. Tap the "waiting" icon and see if you can pause it. If it does pause, then tap it again and see if it will resume. If that works, repeat the same steps for each "waiting" icon.
    2. Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    3. Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. If you see a downloads tab in the lower right corner, then there is a download in iTunes.
    4. If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
    5. You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again. Apps may also be able to be deleted in Settings>General>Usage>Storage if you cannot get the X to pop up on the icon.
    6. You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered.
    7. Reset your router. Unplug it from power for about 30 seconds and then plug it back in again.

2nd Gen iPad Mini stopped working yesterday.  Won't startup under and configuration and is not recognized by my iMac.  I believe it upgraded itself to iOS 8 (????)

    Hey Kenneth,
So it sounds as if your iPad is not responding at all when you try to turn it on, is that correct? If so, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on - Apple Support
If you get it to start up and it is still not recognized by iTunes on your Mac, use the steps in this article to troubleshoot that issue -
If you don't see your connected device in iTunes for Mac - Apple Support
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Ios 8.1.1 ipad mini

i have ipa mini and wih ios 8.1.1 i cant use maps because tell me location services is failed.i have another ipad mini with ios 8.1 and this ipad is ok.is problem with ios 8.1.1??!!!!!

I had that problem with iOS 7. I have no problems with location services using the latest iOS update on my iPad Mini 1st Gen. Try a hard reset: To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo. If that does not work, then reset your settings by going to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Location & Privacy. If that does not work, then go to the Apple Store and they probably will be able to find out what is wrong with it.

how can i update my ipad mini ios 7.1.1 to 7.1.2 directly to ipad not with itunes?????????
    crystal_heart,
Your post is totally unrelated to the old post you tagged on to. You need to create a new post to get answers to your specific problem. Plus, you'll get email answers.
If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 7.1.2. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.
You can no longer update to iOS 6.x, or down grade the iOS.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and antivirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 7.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.
How to Upgrade to iOS 7
The iOS 7.0 update requires around 2.5 GB of storage space, so if your iPad is almost full, you may need to clear up some space. You can check your available space in Settings -> General -> Usage.
There are two ways to upgrade to iOS 7: You can use your Wi-Fi connection, or you can connect your iPad to your PC and update through iTunes. We'll go over each method.
    To upgrade using Wi-Fi:
Note: If your iPad's battery is under 50%, you will want to plug it into your charger while performing the update.
    Go into the iPad's Settings.
Locate and tap "General" from the menu on the left.
The second option from the top is "Software Update". Tap this to move into the update settings.
Tap "Download and Install". This will start the upgrade, which will take several minutes and will reboot your iPad during the process. If the Download and Install button is grayed out, trying clearing up some space. The space required by the update is mostly temporary, so you should gain most of it back after iOS 7 is installed.
Once the update is installed, you may have to run through the initial steps of setting up your iPad again. This is to account for new features and settings.
    To upgrade using iTunes:
First, connect your iPad to your PC or Mac using the cable provided when you purchased your device. This will allow iTunes to communicate with your iPad.
You will also need the latest version of iTunes. Don't worry, you will be prompted to download the latest version when you launch iTunes. Once it installs, you may be asked to setup iCloud by logging into your iTunes account. If you have a Mac, you may be prompted on whether or not you want to enable the Find my Mac feature.
Now you are ready to begin the process:
If you upgraded iTunes earlier, go ahead and launch it. (For many, it will launch automatically when you plug in your iPad.)
Once iTunes is launched, it should automatically detect that a new version of the operating system exists and prompt you to upgrade to it. Choose Cancel. Before updating, you will want to manually sync your iPad to make sure everything is up to date.
After canceling the dialog box, iTunes should automatically sync with your iPad.
If iTunes doesn't automatically sync, you can manually do it by selecting your iPad within iTunes, clicking on the File menu and choosing Sync iPad from the list.
After your iPad has been synced to iTunes, select your iPad within iTunes. You can find it on the left side menu under Devices.
From the iPad screen, click on the Update button.
After verifying that you want to update your iPad, the process will begin. It takes a few minutes to update the operating system during which time your iPad may reboot a few times.
After updating, you may be asked a few questions when your device finally boots back up. This is to account for new settings and features.

It kept opening and closing app. I'm not sure what to don to fix this problem. I've tried restoring my iPad mini but that didn't help. Can someone please help me?

    Try This...
Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
    If no joy...
    Reset all settings
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings.
