Ios 7.1 (11D167) and BMW Bluetooth

I picked up a new 5C 15 days ago. I connected it via Bluetooth to my X1 and everything went well...
...until I updated the operating systerm on the iPhone at the suggestion of Apple.
Now, playing music means I have to;
Park up,
Unlock the 'phone,
Select the track on the 'phone and press play on the 'phone,
Drive for a bit and hope the next track is one I wish to listen to.
If not I have to;
Park up;
Manually select another track using the 'phone,
Drive for a short while and then repeat previous the nonsense.
Tedious. What's the fix please Apple?

Considering these are user to user support forums and no one here is paid to monitor or respond, being a little less impatient would be a good place to start.

  • Is Siri in iOS 6 compatible with old BMW bluetooth?

I just bought the iphone 5 and I have a 2003 BMW 540 with bluetooth.  It seems that when I activate Siri, using the home button on the phone, while the phone is connected to the bluetooth Siri hears me through the bluetooth mic, but Siri's answers do not come over the car speakers.  In essence, it is useless since I cannot hear the answers (the phone speaker is deactivated since it connected to the BMW bluetooth) and I do not want to take my eyes off the road to read the answers on the phone's screen.  I can only think it is a bug in iOS 6 since Siri only hears me through the bluetooth mic and not from the phone's mic.
Thanks in avance for your help.

That's right, it's a bug.  Anytime iOS6 doesn't work the way we think it should, it's obviously a bug in iOS.
First off, your BMW is very old, so the Bluetooth profiles it uses might be out of date. Have you checked with your dealer for an update?
One thing you could try:  On my Lincoln, my iPhone 4S connects using two profiles, one for the phone, and the other for streaming music and Siri.  The Phone connects automatically, but the music stream does not.  Try changing your stereo "input source" to Bluetooth Streaming or equivalent.  When I did this with my 2012 Lincoln, all the Siri commands and responses went through the car speakers.

  • E65 and BMW Bluetooth

    Hi Guys
Am looking to get the Nokia E65 but want to check it pairs with my cars bluetooth system. (BMW 330ci 2004) Anyone tried this combo ? Do contacts synch also ?
    Cheers

    Folks,
I managed to pair and connect the E61i to a 2007 BMW E92 325 Coupe. The basic phone functions in dialing and receiving calls worked flawlessly the first time, with the caller IDs showing clearly on the iDrive Communications display.
As for the phonebook sync, I did encounter difficulties in getting the phonebook downloaded to the iDrive using the built-in PC suite application found on the phone. I subsequently had to disable the PC Suite by removing contacts from the sync profile. To get the phonebook uploaded to the iDrive, I had to use a Nokia application meant for another Nokia car phone device called N810. Here's the link for the application:
    http://europe.nokia.com/A4164022?url=http://nds1.nokia.com/phones/files/software/Nokia_810_Contacts_Sync.sisx
You MUST unpair any previous bluetooth connections you may have already set in the iDrive for this to work. Delete all traces of your phone on the iDrive and remove all traces of your car ( should be named BMW xxxxx ). Install the N810 application on your phone and make sure it is running before attempting to pair you phone to the car again.
Follow the usual Bluetooth pairing procedure to pair up with your iDrive and be patient when you see "Please wait..." on your iDrive. Depending on the volume of contacts on your phone, it will take a number of minutes to upload the contacts initially. Once done, you should see your complete phonebook and be able to match caller id to your phonebook as well. If you have contacts with multiple phone numbers, they will show in parentheses. For example, John (M) and John (W) indicating John's Mobile and John's work number respectively.
    Good luck,
    Andre

does the head set work fine on another devie?
have you tried to delete the pairing and pair it again?
Try a Battery pull please, with the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery 15 seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot device. This will clear all cache liek rebooting a PC. Then try again and see if your problem persists.

  • IPhone 6, iOS 8.0.2, constant dropped Bluetooth... a solution

After reading many, many, many postings here on Apple Support and all over the web about the iPhone 6 and iOS 8.0.2 and how Bluetooth connections in the car are being dropped all the time for all different makes and models of cars, I figured I'd post my "adventure" and how I solved the problem.  This was posted as a reply to another posting, but I figured I'd start a new thread so people can find it easier.
    Here's the posting and solution:
I had the same exact problem with my iPhone 6, running iOS 8.0.2, when connecting to my 2014 Ford Fusion with the My Ford Touch (MFT) system.  Calls would "drop" after about 10 to 15 seconds.  Only it wasn't the call that was dropping, but rather the Bluetooth connection crapping out.
I found the answer (which I will list at the bottom of this posting), but first here are the many things I tried BEFORE I found out the answer:
    1) updated 2014 Ford Fusion MyFordTouch with latest firmware upgrade from Ford (v.3.7).
    2) Unpaired and deleted iPhone 6 from MyFordTouch
    3) Deleted SYNC from Bluetooth in iPhone 6
    4) Reset Network Settings in iPhone 6
    5) Did Master Reset to MyFordTouch system.
    6) Added iPhone 6 back into MyFordTouch
    7) Successfully paired iPhone 6 with MyFordTouch
    8) STILL dropped calls after ALL that.
The answer I arrived at after chatting online with Apple Support Reresentative ("Emmy").   I backed up my iPhone 6 to iTunes (even though I don't normally like to use iTunes), then used iTunes to do a RESTORE to my iPhone 6., which effectively downloaded a virgin copy of iOS 8.02 to my computer and then iTunes applied it to my phone.  This RESTORE function completely WIPED my phone clean (so I had to make sure I did a backup otherwise I'd have lost everything).
AFTER the restore of iOS 8.0.2, the iPhone started to walk through the setup.  BUT here is the IMPORTANT part.  THIS TIME, I said, "Set Up as NEW Phone" instead of "restore from iCloud backup" (like I had been doing).  I skipped the signing in with my Apple ID and all the rest and got to the Home screen.
Then I went out to the Ford Fusion and paired the iPhone 6 to the car.
This time NO dropped calls at all.  Worked perfectly. I spoke with a friend for over 5 minutes and the call sounded great.
THEN, Emmy (support rep) said to do an "Erase All Content and Settings" and to do it OFFLINE (meaning NOT to connect to iTunes).  So, iPhone 6 was wiped again.  This time when it came up, I *DID* do a "Restore from iCloud Backup" and restored the phone.
After the restore, I shut the phone off.  Went to car.  Deleted the pairing from previously on the My Ford Touch system.   Then took key out, opened door, and closed it (thereby "rebooting" My Ford Touch).    THEN I powered up my iPhone 6.
Paired to Ford.  Pair to iPhone.
And.... it WORKED.  And continues to work.
So... I'm not exactly sure why this worked.  The only thing I can figure is perhaps the iTunes RESTORE that I did, wiped everything and left a clean iOS 8.0.2 and then when I did the restore from iCloud it laid on only what was not already on the iPhone in a newer state.
After you read all the above, and after I typed this, I realize that this is a LOT to do just to get back Bluetooth functionality.
I'm thinking that Apple should release an 8.0.3 or an 8.1 update that will address all this for people that don't have over 3 hours to do what I did above to restore functionality.
I've seen other posts and this is happening to ALL car makes and models, not just Ford.
    Hope this helped some people.

Even easier than what I wrote originally.    Just do a RESET ALL SETTINGS .  I was originally only trying the "reset network settings" but didn't try reset ALL settings.   This has helped 5 of my friends regain their Bluetooth connectivity with a variety of autos.   But remember two things: 1) back up data on your phone before trying this and 2) don't forget to delete the bluetooth original pairing from your car.

  • Q10 contacts not available to BMW Bluetooth system..............

I have a (roughly) four month old Q10.  When I originally paired it to my MINI Bluetooth system, it worked fine and my contacts were available in the MINI's display dialog.
A couple weeks ago, I added a Microsoft Hosted Exchange Server email account to the Q10's account list.  From that point forward (give or take) the only data displayed in the MINI's phone book display was the corresponding phone number for the contact.  No other data.
A couple days ago, I acquired a new BMW X5.  The MINI and BMW Bluetooth systems are very similar (both BMW systems) and I'm still experiencing the same problems.  Nothing but the phone number is displayed in the X5 dialog.
Anyone else have a similar experience?
    Thanks

I have made progress on my original issue, but it took some time to figure things out.
The problem on my Q10 started while it was still connected to the MINI that I was driving at the time.  After the software update that was downloaded to the device, around early September sometime, the MINI Bluetooth display began showing only numbers, no associated names.  Since I was about to trade the car, I ignored the problem.
I did try syncing the phone with BB Link on two different computers (one office, one home office), but only wound up with two duplicate contact lists on the device.
When I acquired the X5 on October 1st and paired the phone, same display issues.  So I contacted RIM tech support and spent about an hour sitting in the vehicle, trying different actions, to no avail.
Being kind of fed up with the problem, and all the time it was using up, I responded with the usual email message to the open case log with my usual "since you can't fix the problem, thanks for the brick" dialog.
RIM responded with a detailed message advising me to do a security wipe (after backing up of course) on the Q10, then add back my Microsoft Hosted Exchange email account credentials.
This fixed the problem.  I have not reentered some of my other email accounts, which I thought might have a negative effect.  Since most of my correspondence and calendar are on the Hosted Exchange account, I'm in pretty good shape and don't want to do anything to screw it up again.

  • IOS 7.1(11D167) ruined my iPhone 4S

I upgraded my iPhone 4S to ios 7.1(11D167) and now most apps won't start (e.g. Facebook, Waze, Viber, SlideShark).
When I click the apps it seems they try to start and then they just stop and phone goes back to the apps overview screen.
I have tried rebooting and also a "Reset All Settings" to no avail.
I try to connect the phone to my PC and iTunes however when I do that I get the following message:
"This iPhone cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64-bit version of iTunes"
The iTunes version I have installed is indeed already the 64-bit version.
    Any ideas what to do?

My 4s is totally ruined from the update as well. It gave me the black screen of death, which faded to blueish white over a period of 4 hours. Then I was finally able to restore it from a backup from 2012... but I can't turn it off or let it die without it needing to be rebooted and it won't connect to my itunes in order to perform a new backup. I've read that turning your phone off and on will get your phone to connect... so I turned my phone off and now I need to reboot again, and keep getting messages that "an error occurred." Basically I'm stuck in an infinite loop of failure here. Feels like planned obsolescence.

After Install IOS 8 and 8.0.2, the Ipad audio was distorted, and the bluetooth connection to audio speaker have wheezing.

I ALSO just updated my brand new iphone 6 to 8.0.2, and I ALSO had my cellular service BRICKED.
All I get on the signal meter is Verizon 1x.  Every so often 3G would popup and you could send a text (no calls though) but it's gone in seconds. So  I can't send texts or make phone calls.
This phone worked immediately before the update and stopped working immediately after the update.
My neighbor has a iphone 5S. He updated to 8.0.2 lat week and had no problems UNTIL just this morning, when his phone stopped working - no cellular voice or data. He downgraded back to ios 8.0 but his cellular service never came back.
Called verizon - was told there were no service outages and then I got transferred to tech team.
Tech team had do all the Apple troubleshooting steps but nothing more. So they said "take it back."
So this BRAND NEW iPhone 6 phone is BRICKED because of iOS 8.0.2.
    Thanks Apple!

Hi I have iphone 4s and my Bluetooth and wifi do not work. it was working before and I did not do any update for IOS or anything but it just happened. what I should I do to resolve this?

Hae you tried to do a hard reset of your phone? This will not lose any data. Hold the sleep/wake button and the home button until the phone turns off ignoring any slide to power off messages. Then power the phone back on.

Try the suggestions here to see if they resolve your problem:

If these don't work you probably have a hardware problem. Visit an Apple store for an evaluation or contact Apple Support.

how can i fix the problem on mi ipad mini. When i updated the ios to 6.1.3 the bluetooth and wifi didn't work properly.

    Hey maricel737
There are two different articles that go over troubleshooting steps for solving issues with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. This first one goes over Wi-Fi on your iPad:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1398
This next one outlines suggestions for Bluetooth on your iPad:
iOS: Third-party Bluetooth headsets, headphones, and keyboards
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1664
On the Bluetooth one, I'd just skip ahead to the "Additional Information" section where the troubleshooting steps start.
    Best,
    David
