Ios 7.1 no sound

After the update my ipad air is stuck on headphone mode for some reason. When actual hp are plugged in sound works, when sound scrolling volume in settings speakers works too. Once using any app turns bk to headphones

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

To solve some sound problems, just follow these simple steps
1. Go to Settings
2. Tap on General
3. Tap on Reset
4. Tap on Reset All Settings
What this effectively does is to reset some of your Settings to factory default. It’s not a complete removal of settings. It removes all of your preferences for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Do No Disturb, Notifications, General, Sounds, Brightness & Wallpaper and Privacy. It doesn’t affect your data. All of your email accounts will remain intact, as well as any SMS text or iMessages.

The ringtones are working but all other sounds are not working please help

I had this problem on my iPod Touch 4g. Just press the home and sleep button. Wait and it will give an iTunes and cable logo. Now you can put in DFU mode (Hold Sleep and Home button 10 seconds and then release the power button kand keep pressing on the home button.) Now you will be able to restore it in iTunes.
If you didn't sell it in al this time

Until you have tried Maps, Music, etc. first hand, I wouldn't formulate negative opinions about them. And updates, if performed correctly, do not erase data.
I presume that last time you updated through iTunes. This time, update over Wi-Fi by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

  • After upgrading to iOS 5.1, the sound output works abnormally.

After upgrading to iOS 5.1, the sound output (the 3.5mm output) works correctly only when Apple provided headphones or certain headphones are plugged in. Others cause the iPod to produce sort of phased out sound with lots of digital, low-quality sounding artifacts. Other headphones have no problems since they work fine when plugged into my MacBook.
    Anyone having similar problems? Solutions?

Could be due to a defective headhone jack in the iPod that just coinsided with the iOS update.
However, to rule out a software cause, try the following.
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • IOS 7.0.2 sound settings being ignored

I have an iPhone 4s and I just updated to iOS 7.0.2 (11A501).
When I try to change the sound bytes for my notifications, the phone is still using the old settings from before I did the change. I've tried restarting the device, and the problem still persists.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

It started working now out of nowhere. This really is made out of magic.
I'll keep updating this with any relevant info.

  • Upgrade to IOS 5 gives podcast sound issues

I upgraded to IOS 5 on my IPad, but the sound of the podcasts and MP3's is now dramatically changed.  There is an echo in them that was not there before.  It is not in the original MP3's and podcasts if I play them on the computer I download them to and then sync the IPad.  Anyone seen this?

I'm having the same issue.  I think the "echo" you are hearing is a result of the podcast playing at 1/2 speed.  That is how it sounds on my iPOD touch.  But on my ipod touch I am able to adjust the playback speed (1/2, normal and 2x speed).  I have been trying to find the playback speed adjustment on the Ipad and haven't been able to.  It seems to have disappeared with the IOS 5 update.  It was there on the previous version.
I have no clue as how to fix it.

  • IOS 6 notification and sound sync

I am having an issue where the banner notification and sound are not in sync. So the banner will flash on the top of the screen and then I will hear the notification tone. This can be very annoying when the phone is in my pocket - I will look t it when I hear the notification tone but will have missed the banner notification so often times don't know what the notification was for. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I am running iOS 6 on my 4s. Thanks.

I've had exactly the same problem! Also the silent button on the side isnt working either. Calls seem to be ok, but emails sms facebook, none of those sounds work. Have you found a solution?
No I haven't. The difference is that my silent button is working and even sound when receving and email or an sms's. My issue is the sound of the notification of the applications. For example facebook, F1Live24 ..

  • IPhone 5 iOS 6.1.2 sounds problems, how solve it?, iPhone 5 iOS 6.1.2 sounds problems, how solve it?

The instalation of iOS 6.1.2 make troubles in sound sistem of my iPhone 5 - no specker working.
To times restoring and no solutions. Please help me, thanks.

Since upgrading to iOS 6.1.2, I, too, have been having sound problems, but with my earbuds, with one side or the other being either full of static, or only faint sound.  It is inconsistent, and does not always happen.  Also, some songs in various playlists skip randomly, and others cannot be played when selected.  This never happened before this release, and I use the iPod function of my iPhone 4s every day.
Also, the first time I downloaded an app, the iTunes store recognized my iPhone as a NEW DEVICE downloading an app for the first time, though I have had it since October, synced it many times, and have downloaded many apps.  When I looked at my iTunes Store profile, my purchasing history was empty, even though I have purchased several apps this month.
iTunes Support says this (the download part) SOMETIMES happens after an update.  I asked them if it happens sometimes or every time, since it has never happened to me before.  No reply.  They did not address the skipping issue, either.
    Anyone else with similar issues?

  • IOS 8.1 Intermittent Sound!!

    PLEASE HELP.
I have an iPhone 5S, upgraded to IOS 8 (now at 8.1) and my ring/text sound is intermittent.  Sometimes it rings and sometimes I get no sound at all - both for calls and texts.  I've restarted a million times, changed sounds, etc.  Still happens.
This is insane.  I'm on a crisis trauma team and depend on my phone for emergency calls.  Now I have to deal with a phone that doesn't alert me when called.  NEED A FIX.

  • IOS 7.0.6 sound, powering down, and battery drain issues

Since updating my 4s to iOS 7.0.6 I'm having trouble with my sound.  While I'm trying to watch YouTube videos or Netflix, one minute it will be ok then the next it will just go silent.  It's almost like it thinks there are headphones in the jack but there aren't and when it does this I can't even turn the volume up or down.  I've tried everything I can think of... Hard reset, killing the apps, searched in the settings, ect.  I don't know what to do and it starting to really irritate the living **** out of me because it never did this before the 7.0.6 update.  Also since the update I installed I've been having serious issues with my battery draining at a very rapid rate and this too I've killed all the apps running in the background, lowered the brightness, and all other battery stuff I can think of.  AND on top of all of that since this new ******** update I can't even turn my phone off!  I slide it to power off and it acts like its going to shut down like normally, the screen goes black and all looks good and then wouldn't you know it the apple logo pops back up about 3 seconds later with out even touching the phone.......... SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

I have an an iPad air and I updated it to IOS 7.0.6
    - no battery draining issues
    - no overheating
IOS 7.0.6 does not brick any device.

  • IOS 6.1 still sound bug

Dear comm, AND DEAR APPLE SUPPORT!
    It is really annoying!
Today I have updated my iPad2-16GB-3G to iOS 6.1 and that bloody sound bug is still there.
[Shortly the sound works and randomly after a short period of time it chrashes. No hardware key and no soft key works anymore. The soft key is gone.
I saw several chats regarding the different iPhone / iPad versions dealing with the same prob.]
I would appreaciate an opportunity to put more pressure on Apple to solve these problems. These wonderful gadgets like iPhone and iPad are that expensive!
And one of the key functions does not work. A bug that is not fixed since month, now!
    and double it!
To all persons concerend: Stand up and put pressure on the Apple support to solve that problem!
THX and sorry for venting my anger!
    joapp

First, Apple Support is NOT reading these forums. These are user to user technical help forums hosted by Apple. There are only other users here.
You may have a hardware problem. Visit an Apple store for evaluation or contact Apple support.
There is a chance that you have a bad Application on your iPad which is crashing the sound driver but, fron your description, this seem unlikely, however, give that possibility some consideration.
Note: the majority of sound problems reported here are caused by the user having mute turned on and not realizing it. You don't seem to have that from your symptoms.

  • Anybody else gone to ios 6 and lost sound?!

Upgraded to ios 6 just then and lost all sound?! No idea why...

Hi everyone... I had this issue but seemed to fix it!!Try this...
Go in to the 'Clock' App...
Edit a previously set alarm (may also work if you set a new one)...
    Sound...
Select a song from the 'Songs' section...
    Save...
As soon as I did this, my volume buttons began to work, and the volume bar was visible in the Music App.
    Good luck!

  • IPhone 4 with iOS 5 update NO SOUND

So when the iOS 5 update became available, once I had completed and installed, re synced everything and then I noticed the switch was not responding, neither were the volume buttons, no text alerts,no in game sounds, it just vibrates.
Ive restored the phone at least 3 times, which in all I restored as new, so there wouldnt be any settings left over from prior syncs.....
Ive searched every where with no help,
Has anyone ever seen this or encountered it your self....

Try going to settings - General Settings then change the "Use Side Switch to" setting to "Mute" rather than "Lock Rotation".
Make sure the side switch is set so as not to mute (red dot not showing), then try the sound again
This worked for me on IPAD 2.  You can change the side switch back to "Lock Rotation" subsequently without a problem

  • Why is my ipod touch 4th gen with ios 6 only have sound in the speakers but not when I plug my headphones in

My new ipod touch 4th gen with ios 6 wont play soun in the headphones, but only through the speaker when my head phones are unplugged

    - You do have the volume set all the way up?
    - Have you tried another pair of headphones/do the headphone work in other devices?
    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the headphone plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. It seems yo have a hardware problem, likely a bad headphone jack.

  • I recieve the same sms twice ios 5 and the sound of my ipod is horrible

Since I made the update (IOS5) of my iPhone 4, each time one of my contact send a message, i recieve this message twice.
And i got another problem, the sound of my music (baught on iTunes) sizzles (even when I change the headphone) and it's inaudible.
    Thx

I just sent my ipod back so they can either replace it or fix it. If it's still under the one year warranty, you can send it back and they will make it right. I guess that's the only good thing about having problems with these ipods....Of course I am without mine at work:(. But, they are pretty quick in getting it back to you also. I would follow the intructions for getting it serviced and go from there. But, do it soon and don't wait other wise you will end up buying another one as I think it costs alot to have them fixed....you'd be better off just buying another one:( If your going to send yours in to have it looked at, they will send you the box to pack it in with the label already attached....all you have to do it mail it back to them. They even give you tape to tape up the box. It's all pretty simple. Hope this helped you out...Good luck.
