I have no idea what may have caused your MacBook to stop working, but from your description it kind of sounds like it may have started before you ran Software Update and installed the new Apps. Just the general slow feeling and bugginess is what tips me off. You said that you weren't sure if you had closed all open windows, that doesn't matter if the computer restarts itself. It automatically closes all other open applications when restarting.
As to your data being retrievable, if when you take it in they do a fresh install of the OS, then no, it will not be unless you want to pay several thousand dollars to a software retrieval company.
I am glad to hear that you have taken into the Apple Store to get it fixed, and that you have all of your purchased music backed up to your iPod. You should be able to just transfer it all back to iTunes once you get your computer back should it be necessary.
As a side note, the proper place for this topic would probably in the MacBook forums, not iTunes since there is no evidence that iTunes started the issue. -

IOS 8.0.2 update made my iPhone enter to DFU mode!

Has anyone noticed a massive battery drain problem after the iOS 6.1 update on the iPhone 4s?
I updated my iPhone 4s last night with iOS 6.1 update. This morning, the battery percentage has been falling at an alarming rate while in standby, and the phone seems to be heating up and staying at an elevated temperature while in standby. Has anyone else noticed this? This only started once I did the update. Any solutions?
Standard troubleshooting...
Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
Remove all apps from Recently Used list...
- From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
- Tap and hold any icon in this list until they wiggle
- Press the red to delete apps from this list.
- Press the home button twice when done.
If still a problem restore with your backup.
If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue. -
IOS 5.1 Update suddenly morphed iPhone 4s into 4G??
Ok, what is up with the 4G icon? I have an iPhone 4s 64GB, and after iOS 5.1 update, the 3G icon is now 4G. Is this an error that has somehow cropped up, or is this a nice easter egg from Apple .....Surprise, you now have 4G? Ha Ha, Not likely!
Has anyone else had this issue? My wife has an iPhone 4 32GB and her's is still 3G.
It doesnt affect anything, calls ok and all functions work. Just interesting.
On a side note, Summary screen in iTunes after iOS 5.1 update lists Phone Number as n/a???? But like I said, the phone works fine.

RainmaniPhone 4S has supported HSPA+, and the update just updated the indicator to show whether you are using 4G or 3G.

I have a iphone 4s.
I was trying to download ios 6 software update.
Put in a wifi network and plugged in before starting download.
Soon after I hit download it paused and said to choose wifi network before continuing.
It had knocked out my wifi connection.
When I turn the wifi back on and ask it to choose a network it can't find it anymore.
Meanwhile I can't get it to continue to download the ios 6 update.Instead of trying to update OTA connect your phone to your computer with USB abd have the latest itunes open and do it that way. If it says you are not connected click cancel and see if the download continues. iOS 6.1.3 is now the latest so that is what you will be updating to

Update only if you are still in applecare. Immediately after updating my 4S is now a brick. 50 days out of applecare,.. and frankly apple doesn't care. Even apple support said my best bet was the "search the web to downgrade the OS"... little did I know that would require jailbreaking it. So surprised with how low Apple's quality has gone.

i am unable to sync my iPhone 5 to my iTunes on my laptop (windows OS.) First, it asked me to update the laptop iTunes, so I did. Next it asked me to update the iPhone's iTunes and here lies the problem.

Disconnect from the laptop first.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Restart your laptop.
Reconnect the iPhone then launch iTunes, select the Summary tab.
See if it says: iOS 7.1.2

IOS 6 has just made my iphone 4 unbearable to use, Please Help!

I have updated my iphone 4 to the latest iOS 6 software.
Now, everything has become extremely slow to use, my volume buttons no longer work. I have to click my home page/lock button numerous times for them to work.
Is there anything I can do other than having to restore my phone back to factory settings.
Please help as I need my phone for work purposes and it's becoming unbearable to use and on the verge of having to buy a replacement iphone.Stop screaming "Apple fix it". That just makes you look like a fool.
Apple does not monitor these forums, we are all users like yourself.
I personally am not experiencing the issue and do not know anyone that is, running a variety of iOS versions on multiple iPhones. I would have to conclude that you have a small group of acquantances that are having issues.
Have you tried installing any new app (free or paid)? Some users with similar issues have reported that solving this issue. -
IOS 5.1 update drains battery iPhone 4s?!
I updated my iPhone 4s 32gb from iOS 5.0.1 to iOS 5.1 a couple days ago. Before I updated it l would usually have around 50% of battery left by the end of the day (fully charged in the morning). After I updated to iOS 5.1 my battery gets hotter than usual when I would use the phone and the battery would be dead by 9pm (fully charged in the morning). If it was only one day then I'd attribute it to chance but it has occured every day since the update! I've disabled wifi and all that fun stuff to try to preserve battery life but it still doesn't help. Any fixes or suggestions?
