IOS 7.1 update- no car stereo support?

Hello I am having a problem that is really starting to tick me off. I took my iPhone into an apple store for them to fix a few things and they updated it to the newer 7.1 firmware. I was on 7.0.4 before and my stereo worked flawlessly. I was able to connect my iPhone 5 to the usb and play through Pandora, Youtube, and the browser version of Grooveshark. Now after this 7.1 update I cannot play any music through my car. It recognizes the device but says "No music in file" I prefer to stream my music rather than take up space on my phone. But now I cannot listen to any music. Is there a setting I am missing? I am NOT happy in the slightest.

had the very same problem. After I updated to ios 7.1 on my iPhone 5s, I  was no longer to play music on my Kenwood Excelon stereo in my car via  Apple's USB/lightning cable. I HAVE A SOLUTION THAT WORKED FOR ME. When I  first updated to ios 7.1, I did this on wifi. I talked to Apple  customer service several times with no help, so I took it into my hands  to try to figure this issue out. This is what I did to fix this issue:  1) Plug in your phone/device into your laptop and connect to iTunes 2)  Back up your phone/device 3) Turn off Find My iPhone 4) Click on Restore  iPhone 5) Continue and wait until the software is re-installed 6) At  this point my laptop told me that there was something wrong with my  phone, so I clicked to disconnect my iPhone and then Plugged it back  into my laptop. Now the iPhone was recognized and asked me to restore to  my backup from today 8) Restore the backup and wait. This took my  iPhone about 45-60 minutes 9) Sync your music and apps back onto your  iPhone and disconnect from laptop once completed 10) The final step is  to go connect your iPhone to your car stereo and enjoy your music  again!! I hope this works for everyone else. My guess is that there was a  glitch when I downloaded ios 7.1 on wifi instead of using iTunes.  Peace!!

This is a typical response from the manufacturer. Did you try the fix that Lawrence mentioned. When Apple or any other phone manufacturer update phone software, they have the latest Bluetooth installed. It is usually the problem with the radio manufacturer that they devices are using the older Bluetooth protocols. You can try this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3581 and see if anything there helps, but generally it requires the radio manufacturer to update their firmware.

  • Any aftermarket car stereos support "iPod Out"?

"iPod Out" was announced with iOS 4, but so far, it seems that only BMW's proprietary car stereo supports it.  Anyone else know of any other aftermarket car stereo that supports iPod Out?  Ideally, I'm looking for a unit that also has GPS.

I bit the bullet - having bought cheap crap from Ebay (such false economy) - none of them worked - I've just ordered it from Apple. Will keep you all posted. Fingers crossed.

  • Ever since I downloaded the iOS 6 update, my car stereo no longer works like it did before

My Pioneer car stereo worked exactly like it was supposed to with my iPhone 4s. By syncing to the car stereo, I could listen to all of my music on my iPhone and receive Pandora in the car.  Since I downloaded the iOS 6 update two weeks ago, my car stereo has basically become inert, no longer syncs to my iPhone and has turned my expensive car stereo into a glorified CD player.  I googled this problem first and noticed many other people had the exact same problem that I have.  Since I can't undo the iOS 6 update (****, I wish I could), is there anyone out there with a similar problem and is there anything to remedy this problem. I will never download an Apple update again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would love to see an update on issues like this.
I have the pioneer avh-3400bh.  Prior to iOS6 on my iphone 4, everything worked as it should.  Upon updating to ios6 on the 4, and now also with the iphone 5, my head unit will play BT audio, but it receives no track/data information.  Using USB, I can no longer use my phone to browse songs, I can only use the head unit control.  the phones tell me that an accessory is connected and won't allow me to do anything.  Same for the pandora app

  • Since IOS7 update, my car stereo will not communicate with my Iphone 4

Ok, I have had Kenwood car stereos with bluetooth connection since they came out with it and I have never had a problem.  Now I am so mad, I am ready to throw my phone out the window.  I can plug into usb or stream music bluetooth and it plays just like it always has.  It even lists the name of the song and artist while the song plays.  My problem is that since the update, I can no longer skip songs or dial by voice.  I called Kenwood and they say that I am not alone.  Their phones have been ringing constantly with disgruntled Iphone users.  Do I need to buy a new phone or can Apple fix the problem?  As I see it, this is dangerous because you literally have to pick up your phone, swipe the screen once to unlock, then swipe again to go to music playing, then pick the song you want to listen to which now shows up as like 20 tiny thumbnails (android copy?).  How am I supposed to drive safely when I have to do this?  Before I could just put Itunes on shuffle and tap the next button on my remote to skip songs without ever taking my eyes off the road.  Also, before IOS7 I could hit the voicecall button and dial by saying the name of the person I wanted to call.  Now I have to unlock the phone and go through the whole dangerous process of finding the contact and dialing.  Is there a fix in the works Apple?  Please advise.  Thanks

If your phone supports Siri (a 4 doesn't), you _should_ be able to  hold down the home button until she is ready then say call XXX. Of course, that is only a stopgap. I have no idea why Apple has to break things to advance their OS. I'm not happy about many of the stunts they pull these days. The only other suggestion I have is to delete the pair between devices and pair them again. There's a slight chance it may work. Otherwise, one of the companies is going to have to release an update to fix it. Maybe kenwoodusa.com already has. Have you checked?

  • HT4623 after the ios 7.0 update my iphone 4s and ipad keep switching in between the home screen and the apple loading screen, can anybody help?

Can anybody help with the above?
    i.e
both my iphone 4s and ipad switch in between the home screen and the apple loading screen
    Many thanks

I would connect each device to a power source, and then reset them by holding the power button and the home button until they turn off.
If it keeps happening, I would put the devices in recovery mode and restore them with iTunes.

  • Should I be able to listen to music from my iPod 5 on my car stereo?

I have a Pyle stereo in my car. I am having trouble listening to my iPod using the USB on the stereo. The Pyle support team says
It can't be done, that the USB is for mass storage devices. Isn't that what an iPod is? I am a little suspect of they're answer, especially after reading some posts. Can someone give me the scoop? Can I or can't I listen to my Ipod through the USB....PLEASE??

"that the USB is for mass storage devices. Isn't that what an iPod is? "
No.  It is not what an ipod touch is at all.
You can only listen to it via the USB if your car stereo supports it.  If it does not, then you cannot.
It sounds like your stereo does not support the ipod via USB

  • Charge iphone 3gs using car stereo USB sony xplod

i am using my car stereo [sony xplod] for playing music via bluetooth, can i recharge my phone using USB in built with stereo, is it safe?

The iphone and ipod are not the same device.
Perhaps your car stereo supports ipod and not iphone.  Check with the manufacturer of your car stereo.

  • Car Stereo No Longer Recognizes iPhone after iOS 7.1 Update

I connect my iPhone to my car stereo with via USB (the stereo doesn't have bluetooth) and now after the iOS 7.1 update, it no longers works in my car. My stereo displays an error message of 'iPod err' when I connect it. I've used this same car stereo and USB cable to connect my iPhone for years without any issues, until the 7.1 update a couple days ago.
Anyone else having this issue? This is real frustrating.

In another thread on this issue, Brendan writes:
Turns out restarting my car and/or rebooting my iphone "fixed" the issue. Apparently this was unrelated to the iOS 7.2 upgrade. Honda + iPhone has been rock solid (even if the Honda Fit UI is terrible), so I'm not sure what to make of this problem. Maybe a glitch? Who knows.

His suggestion worked for me: turn off your car, completely shut-off your phone and let it sit a few minutes. Then reboot phone and start car and try again.
    Good luck!

  • IPhone 4s No Longer connects to Car Bluetooth after iOS 7.1 Update

My iPhone 4s has been paired to our 2006 Acura TL hands free link (Bluetooth) and working flawlessly for more than a year.  After the iOS 7.1 update installed on my iPhone the connection has been lost and the car's Bluetooth does not recognize, and will not pair with my iPhone anymore!  I noticed there were two back-to-back updates for iOS7.  The first one caused intermittent interruptions and lost connections with the iPhone.  The second update completely destroyed the connection between the car bluetooth and the iPhone.  Any ideas on how to correct this problem would certainly be appreciated.  Thanks!

    Hello algee1,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with pairing your iPhone with your Acura.
In my experience, when updates are released for iOS devices, compatible devices release an update to maintain compatibility.  Step 2 from the article below recommends checking with the manufacturer of your car stereo to see if there is a firmware update available for your car stereo:
    2. Update software and firmware if necessary
Verify that both your car stereo and your device have the latest software versions. Contact the manufacturer to see if any updates are available. If your device does not have the latest version of the iOS, update to the latest software version.
I recommend reviewing the full article here for additional troubleshooting steps:
    iOS: Troubleshooting car stereo connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3581
I also recommend these steps if the issue persists after following all the steps in the previous article:
Unable to find nearby Bluetooth accessories
If a pairing record already exists, the device does not appear as discoverable. Try to connect the device using that pairing record.
If you are unable to connect using the existing pairing record, delete the record and pair again.
Ensure that the firmware or software on the Bluetooth accessory is up to date.
Ensure that the Bluetooth accessory is charged or connected to power.
Verify that the Bluetooth accessory is using a profile that works with the iOS device.
Turn off both the iOS device and the Bluetooth accessory, then turn both devices on again.
If the issue persists, test Bluetooth with another device or consult the manufacturer's documentation.

  • IPhone 4S and iPhone 5 Running iOS 6.0.1 and A2DP audio streaming on a 2012 Lexus RX350 (Factory Car Stereo)

    Hello Everyone,
Before the release of iOS6 and the iPhone 5, I was able to use the A2DP audio streaming on my car no problems and I was really a happy camper, when upgraded my iPhone 4S to the iPhone 5 (Which came already with iOS6) that funtionality did not work any more, I reconnected my iPhone 4s running iOS 5.1.1 and worked like a charm, then I thought my brand new iPhone has bluetooth problem , that same night (Release data iPhone 5 and iOS 6), I update my iPhone 4S and prepare it to give it to my wife, then It occured to me to go and test the phone back on the car but now Running iOS 6 and "viola", the phone did not stream audio via A2DP. So yesterday Apple Release a minor update for iOS (6.0.1) and after reading the release notes (which it did not say anything Bluetooth enhancements) and updating my iPhone, went and try to test again the phone and did not work. (No A2DP audio streaming), Definatelly there is a problem, I called iOS Tech support and open a Case.  Here are the screenshots for the iphone and car stereo.
    Iphone:
    Car Stereo:
Phone (Voice Feature) works fine with the car.
This happens when trying to Connect the phone manually.
If anyone had this problem in the past and solved, please let us know.
    Thanks
    Rommel J. Jimenez

I had this problem with my iPhone 4 after upgrading to ios 6.0 (10A403).  I called apple support and was given a fix for my problem.  The Apple support rep had me do a reset on my Iphone.  The iPhone then worked with streaming music through bluetooth to my Lexus and also now works with the usb tether.  I did not have to delete the pairing, but that certainly wont hurt.

  • Car stereo not compatible with iPhone since iOS 7

Since installing iOS 7, my iPhone 4S is no longer compatible with my Pioneer car stereo to use video. I can still access my music and contact for bluetooth, but when I try to use Netflix for example, it gives an error message on my phone. This was working normally when I was using iOS 6, so there is a glitch with iOS 7. I can't seem to get any help from Pioneer or Apple support...so I'm asking you folks to help me please! Is there a way to get this working again or do I have to wait for the next software update?
