IOS 7 and itunes

Just updated my iPhone 4s to iOS 7 while linked to my Mac.  Once the new iOS format was installed, my phone was no longer visable on my Mac's iTunes screen and I received an error message stating my phone cannot sync because I need iTunes 11.1 and was instructed to go to www.apple.com to download the latest version.  However, I had already updated my Mac with the latest iTunes 11.1.  Then, I logged my iTunes account which apparently is version 11.05.  How do I sync my phone in its new version to my existing account?  I'm not very savvy with this and my phone cannot sync with the Cloud unless I bump up to the paid storage and I'm not prepared to do that.  Currently have the latest phone tricks and cannot back up or sync it.  If I am patient, will there be instructions tomorrow about all of this?  I'm guessing I'm in the 95 percentile with everybody else.
Also, I have the original iPad.  What will be my journey to sync my three components now?

Hello bhc8
If iTunes is saying that it is 11.05, then you will need to download and install the latest from Apple’s website. That will ensure that you are syncing properly.
iTunes 11.1

  • Bug: iOS 5 and iTunes 10.5 podcast smart playlist sort order and how to fix.

There seems to be a bug in iOS 5 and iTunes 10.5 involving the sort order of a smart playlist of podcasts. I created such a playlist and sorted by release date on iTunes but I noticed it had a different sort order on the iPod Touch.
After playing around with it a bit I found that the only way to preserve the sort order that I have in iTunes on the iPod Touch is to uncheck "Live Updating" in the smart playlist.

Confirming this incredibly annoying bug.  Basic list sorting not working... real bottom shelf work apple.
workaround update:  limit to must be turned on, set it to an absurdly high number if you don't want to actually limit the playlist, then one of the sortby options in that submenu will work.   The live update checkbox is irrelevant from experimentation.
This workaround does NOT fix the fundamental problem: sort order from itunes in smart playlists is not being synced and preserved in ios5 devices.
This is the latest in a long string of debacles which is making me seriously consider swapping to debian stable. (snow leopard to lion was a severe downgrade in performance for anyone doing heavy multitasking.. scheduling is FUBAR... when a command option escape beachballs on a brand new core 17 machine, your OS has serious problems with nice levels)

  • Updated to ios 5 and itunes 10.5 for my iphone and now i lost all apps and songs that i had downloaded in the past. how do i get everything back

Updated to ios 5 and itunes 10.5 for my iphone and now i lost all apps and songs that i had downloaded in the past. how do i get everything back?

in order to restore your songs and apps, you should just reconnect to itunes and sync your data. your phone ran a backup before it upgraded, and you can also do a restore. but the key is still to go to your itunes and sync back to your phone what you wanted there in the first place.

  • Since upgrading to ios 6 and itunes 11 i have lost my usb tethering for the personal hotspot?

    Hi,
Since upgrading today to IOS 6 and itunes 11 I have lost my USB tether. Wifi and Bluetooth work just not USB. I have reset the network setting to no avail? Any advice?

I recommend taking it into the store.  Sounds to me like you have downloaded an app that has allowed itself to become the "primary" when sending and recieving images....  Apple is seriously dropping the ball!!  Just the other day, I downloaded an app called v-downloader...  Its an app that allows you to download videos through a 3rd party browser.  Well what it did, was automatically place restrictions on my phone...  I couldnt send pics, and it removed access to safari, facetime, messages, etc... so maybe try removing any recent app purchases.  Also, I would reccomend that you restore your phone.  it will redo the update off your computer and come through with less glitches
But I agree, iOS6 has been nothing but problems... I plan on removing the update when I get home

  • I have updated to iOS 7 and iTunes Radio isn't there

I have updated to iOS 7 and have used iTunes radio but it is now missing from my music player

    One USA user got it by;
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • IPhone 6, iOS 8, and iTunes

I am having some significant issues with synching my phone and I need help to resolve it.  Whatever changes they have made to the way these technologies work together is just not working for ME.
When I first got the iPhone, I restored from iCloud and then synched from my iTunes library to get my songs on there quicker (the iCloud download was taking forever).  This worked perfectly fine.
Then I downloaded the iOS 8.0.2 patch.  Now I'm having all sorts of weird problems.
I manage my music on iTunes and then synch with my phone.  Since this update, apparently it is using my iPhone as the master and updating my iTunes library from that.  This is a big problem!  I updated a playlist on iTunes and wanted to update it on my iPhone.  It never updated the playlist on my iPhone - it remained the same.  Then I deleted the playlist from my iPhone hoping that it would then copy the playlist correctly on the next synch.  NO.  It DELETED the playlist from my iTunes library!!!
I had "Show All Music" unchecked to fix an issue with iTunes/iPhone overwriting my album artwork I embedded in songs with the one from iTunes.  But, even though I had purchased songs downloaded to both my iPhone and iTunes, after the sync, the songs I've purchased from iTunes do not show up in my music if I have "Show All Music" unchecked.  If I check "Show All Music", then there are two instances of those songs that appear in my Music on my iPhone - the one that is downloaded, and the other one that I can download from "the cloud".  This should NOT work this way.  If it's in my iTunes library - and it syncs to my phone - it should be considered "downloaded" to my phone.
Next, based upon another thread in this community, I followed the instructions to 1. Delete all music from the phone, 2. Uncheck "sync music" in iTunes and sync to remove all music from my iPhone.  This deleted all my songs but ONE.  Why the heck is there ONE song on my phone??  It's not even a song I purchased from Apple - it's one I already had!  But it's not unique, yet it is the ONE song that is there now.
But of course, now I've got everything back on my iPhone - I have to have "Show All Music" checked in order to see all the songs I've purchased.  When I shuffle and it shuffles to a song that is "in the cloud", it starts to download it.  This ***** for two reasons.  1.  I get two copies of songs that I have purchased, but if I don't have "Show All Music" checked, I get no access to these songs.  2.  It downloads the Christmas music I purchased that I only sync at Christmas time.  This USED to not be a problem.  I'd uncheck them in my iTunes library, they wouldn't sync to my phone, and all was good.
This functionality is ridiculous and there is no reason why anyone would think this is a BETTER way for these two things to interact.  Is there some setting I have wrong that is causing this behavior?  There are a lot of other WEIRD things that have gone on, but these are the highlights.

Take it to an Apple Store, take proof of purchase with you.

  • IOS 6 and iTunes 10.6.3

For those of you who can't upgrade to 10.7 due to hardware limitations or you are afraid that it will mess up iTunes on your computer (which has been an ongoing issue for many), I recently updated my iPod Touch to iOS 6 and found that iTunes 10.6 not only recognizes but syncs and backs up fine.  I backed up and transferred purchases before upgrading, and then I upgraded through the Settings app.  So far, my iPod is fine and has all my data and is working with iTunes 10.6 fine.
    Hope this helps anyone

Thanks so much for that - I've been trying to find the answer to that little potential problem, but various Google searches haven't discovered the answer yet!! I have an old G4 Powerbook which currently runs iTunes 10.6.3 and syncs to my iPod touch (4G) currently running iOS 5.1.1.
iTunes 10.6.3 has offered me the iOS 6 update for my iPod but I wasn't sure if that would stop me syncing my iPod with iTunes afterwards. As you say, upgrading iTunes isn't a possibility due to Apple ending support for PowerPC Macs with iTunes 10.7. Buying a new Mac isn't really possible at the moment due to lack of funds.
That's given me some glimmer of hope that I don't need to shell out on new hardware if I updated to iOS 6. If that was the case, I'd seriously consider switching to Windows - even though I'm an avid Mac user, I find the decision to continue supporting Windows XP - an 11-year old operating system! - but not their own PowerPC Macs (some of which are less than 5 years old) very disappointing!! iTunes is just a utility to copy data back and forth to their devices, there's no technical reason why they couldn't have made iTunes 10.7 available for PowerPC users running 10.5.8 - this is more a case of abandoning their loyal customers.
Apple are getting more and more arrogant with their legacy customers - and I say that as a Mac user of over 20 years now.
Once again, thank you so much for this info!

  • IPad 3, IOS 6 and iTunes version

I know that there have been numerous threads about this but perhaps a summary up to now is a good idea.
    I have the iPad 3.
    I have updated to IOS6
I have no problems at all.
    I run Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.
    I currently use iTunes v. 10.6.3.25.
To date, I have been declining the requests to update itunes.
Should I stay with that version of iTunes / update / wait for a fix or patch?
If I update, are there work-arounds to the issues?
Thank you for any and all advice.

There are a couple of issues that I myself found out about when I upgraded! The main one being sharing between iTunes and ios devices and Apple TV. An issue I never had before I upgraded to iTunes 10.7. I believe it pertains mostly to people who are running iTunes on a windows computer. Resolved all my problems by uninstalling 10.7 and reinstalling 10.6! Wait for a fix and save urself the headache!

  • Ios 8 and itunes detecting my iPhone is now in recovery mode!!!

I downloaded ios 8 and now my screen indicates to connect it to itunes. When I do a message comes up that iTunes has detected an iPhone is in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes.
    What??????? Help!!!
The worst part is that I hadn't synched what's on the phone in a while.

You have no choice but to restore your phone. Once it has entered recovery mode, any data you did not have backed up is lost.

  • IOS 8 and iTunes

I've been trying to troubleshoot a problem which started today after upgrading to IOS 8 and OS-X 10.9.5. When I plug the iPhone 5s into the Mac Pro iTunes recognizes the iPhone but won't allow me to work with the app window in iTunes to add, update, remove or move apps. The iPad Air, also on IOS 8, is fine with iTunes. I've rebooted the iPhone and Mac. I've used the same USB cable and connector (both actually) as the iPad without getting iTunes to work with the iPhone except every now but mostly iTunes doesn't sync with the iPhone for the apps. Any suggestions?

  • IOS 6 and iTunes 10.7 WiFi Sync issues

WiFi sync works for a day or two then from the device is just keeps saying Looking for Mario Michela's iMac...  I restart iMac, reboot iPhone and or iPad. connect via usb cable, uncheck WiFi Sync (apply), recheck WiFi Sync. It will work again for 2 or 3 days. Then starts to fail again.
I've tried using Eithernet and wifi on the mac (no difference)
I've tried turning off the firewall (no difference)
I've reset all setting on the iPhone (no difference)
I've reset SyncServices Folder (/System/Library/Frameworks/SyncServices.framework/Versions/A/Resources/resetsy nc.pl full) -(No difference)
I've called Apple Care 3 times, I keep getting passed around because sync is between product departments.
iOS doesn't support desktop applications, iMac doesn't support mobile devices..
I'm hoping iTunes 11 fixes this issue.. This issue didn't occur prior to iTunes 10.7.

I am getting sync issues too (although on OSX) - seems like others are getting issues too:

  • Since update to iOS 8 and iTunes 11.4 no sync to iPhone BUT works with iPad!

Strange behavior: Since update no sync with iPhone but no problem with iPad mini!
iPhone sync stucks on "waiiting to use the changes" (not sure about the correct transation from german).
Makes me crazy! I tried sync with cable, WiFi and every hint I found in Internet.
This time, Apple screwed it pretty good! Thanks!
    Mac OS Mavericks 10.9.4

I've had this same issue. I just updated to iOS 8.0.2 but the problem was not a fix in the release. I do have a legacy machine, a MacMini, which may be the issue, but she's still a great little work horse. Runs like a champ. Here are what I think may be the relevant lines from my log. Any ideas?

workaround update:  limit to must be turned on, set it to an absurdly high number if you don't want to actually limit the playlist, then one of the sortby options in that submenu will work.
