Ios 7 breaks charging, ios 7 breaks charging

Has anyone fixed the ios 7 problem with charging the ipad 3 ? I fiureed out how to work around it but what is wrong with Apple?

AFRetired87, you have a fresh new look, thanks to iOS 7. When connecting your iPhone to a charger, the battery charging icon is located at the top right corner which reflects the battery life percentage. I apologize that the option to havet he green bar is not available. For more information regarding this software update, click http://bit.ly/bOQC84

  • IOS 6.1.2 breaks charging on iphone4

I upgraded my iphone 4 to IOS 6.1.2 and now the only way it will charge is when it's plugged into my Mac. None of the power adapters work, with the phone showing Unplugged. I can charge the phone to 100% when attached to the Mac, but it will never charge on any power adapter. I have tried swapping all cables, adapters, etc. All work when attached to the computer, but not when attached to any power adapter.
I have tried power cycling the iphone, to no avail. This seems like a bug in 6.1.2 because everything worked fine on 6.1.

What are you using to charge?
Don't try to charge from a computer USB use the supplied 10W charger.

  • Update 3GS to iOS 4.2.1 - no longer charges or connects to PC

    Hi,
On Saturday morning 4 December I updated my iPhone 3GS to iOS 4.2.1. It was fully charged and synced as I liked it, so at that point I didn't notice anything was wrong.
I went to charge it Sunday morning using my wall charger, and I was given the error "charging is not supported by this accessory".
Thought maybe there was something wrong with the wall charger - plugged it into my PC. No charge, not picked up by iTunes. Tried a few other things - no result.
    Now, what does work:
It does respond to my Bose Sounddock - it gives the "charging is not supported by this accessory" I always get. It also plays music through the Sounddock.
This suggests it isn't a hardware failure. Indeed, because it only occurred after I upgraded my iOS, I'm starting to think it is a software fault on behalf of Apple - my iPhone no longer likes USB connections.
I've tried every combination I've read on the internet, turning it off and on again, doing a hard reset, doing a reset to factory settings - no fix. Because my iPhone will no longer interact via USB, I can't make any changes to the software of the device that might fix it.
All up, I'm in a bit of a jam. I've turned my iPhone off to save battery in case anyone has a solution that involves interaction through the phone.
So, what are my options? I have a feeling that the phone will be bricked, which is a tad disappointing, since I've done nothing to break it.
    Thanks

Well, I think it depends on how adventureous you are, and how close you are to Apple store...or where it can be serviced. Hopefully you are still under warranty....I would try a different USB cable if you can find one without buying one..If that doesn't work, you can try a DFU mode restore. Obviously, when you do this, you will loose all data, so hopefully you have a backup or your data sync'd up somewhere. Look around for instructions on DFU mode restore. You could try a regular restore first...Up to you. See if that works. Let us know how you come out.

  • HT5654 my iphone 5 fell did not break but went completely black and non responsive. When I plug it to the computer I get a white screen with black apple. When I push both the Top and Homne buttons simultaneously I get the charger picture plug end plus arr

my i phone 5 was dropped, didn't break but went completerly black screen and nonresponsive. I pushed both the home button and top button no response. I plugged it to the computer it gave me white screen with black apple. I pushed the home and the top went black then gave the itune and the charging plug picture. I tried to download and update, the message came as couldn't restore due to unknow error. Any help??

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Since my IPOD Touch upgraded to IOS 8.1.2 it will not play well with my 2013 Charger's UConnect entertainment system. It will not build a library so I can not Browse or Shuffle. The only thing Is there a fix for UConnect issue?

Since my IPOD Touch upgraded to IOS 8.1.2 it will not play well with my 2013 Charger's UConnect entertainment system. It will not build a library so I can not Browse or Shuffle. The only thing it does is list all the songs alphabetically when connected via USB.

    - Contact the manufacturer/go to their support site.
    - Sometimes this works
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
Sometimes and ISO update breaks compatibioity and a firmware update the the dock is required or an iOS update is required.

  • Why are all of our cords breaking, so we can not charge anything?

Why are all of the cords so cheap, and breaking?

I am pretty certain that Apple put something into iOS 6.1.4 to REJECT all 3rd-party power cords.  Ever since I updated to iOS 6.1.4, my most trusted cord (4 months old) has been saying, "You cannot charge the device with this cord".  BZZZT Apple strikes again !!
Either that, or the new "Kill your battery as quickly as possible" software in iOS 6.1.4 has been draining power so rapidly, that my 3rd-party cord cannot keep up with the massive power-draw from iOS 6.1.4 !!  Don't upgrade !!

  • IOS 4.0.1 is breaking my 3G

I ran through a full charge on my battery today in less than 4 hours........while the phone was in STANDBY mode.
My phone is taking twice as long to perform tasks as it was with 3.1.3 and freezes and crashes much more frequently.
Why doesn't Apple allow me to downgrade to a working piece of software instead of forcing me to use a broken piece of garbage?
Why doesn't Apple allow me to restore a current backup (taken from 4.0.1 iOS) to a phone in 3.1.3?
Your software restrictions are breaking my phone and my user experience has dropped to an all time low because of it.
Are these battery and performance problems going to be addressed in future releases or are you just going to slowly break my 3G until I am forced to buy a new phone?

Oh and I almost forgot. With iOS 4.0.1 there is a bug with my pictures. Half of my pictures thumbnails show up as solid black and the black is creeping into the background (it takes up more space than that which the thumbnail occupied).

  • Just tried to update iOS 7 to my Ipad two then it went black and it seems to be locked up, and it won't hold a charge. What do I do?

I have been having trouble with my iPad 2 lately. I went and down loaded iOS 7 and installed it. Then when I came back it showed the low battery so I figured that the update just drained my battery. I plugged it into the charger and after a while it just showed the apple logo. Then when I came back to look at it it again was showing low battery even though it was on the charger the whole time. It seems to be stuck in a cycle of low battery and the apple logo, and it just can't seem to break that cycle. I need all the help I can get. Any suggestions?

Did you ever get a solution from anyone about your charging issue?

  • I tried updating my iPod 5th gen to iOS 8 but it only shows me a picture of the iTunes logo and a charger at the bottom, I'm not sure what this means or what I need to do. Can someone please help me?

I tried updating my iPod 5th gen to iOS 8 but it only shows me a picture of the iTunes logo and a charger at the bottom, I'm not sure what this means or what I need to do. Can someone please help me?

After restoring to factory settings/new iPod you will then have to restore from backup
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • My iPod Touch is no longer charging since iOS update

Hi, so I have three iPod chargers, and as far as I know, they should both work perfectly fine. One is super old, I've had it since my first second generation iPod Nano, and one is practically brand new, I've had it for a few months. The new one and the middle one are both store bought chargers, non apple brand, and whenever I try to charge my iPod with these chargers, the same error message comes up, saying that charging is not supported with this accessory. All I can think is, they worked perfectly fine until the latest iOS update. Now, neither are charging my iPod, and I have to use my old iPod charger from my old Nano. This would all be fine if (a) that charger wasn't falling apart with electrical tape holding it together and (b) it wasn't shared with my mother. I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing this problem with store bought chargers. No way do both of these chargers just decide to stop working around the same time. I'm just wanting to know because I don't want to find out Apple created a new thingy in their update that stops non-apple accessories from working. (They already did that so that my car charger never worked with my new iPod).
Oh, and in case it matters, my iPod is the iPod Touch 4 (bought just a couple months before the iPod Touch 5 came out, so I think it's a 4s).

Does it charge on a computer? Does it appear in iTunes?
    If so:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Froze upgrading ios 6 on connect to itunes screen not recognized by itunes and wont charge no power with usb

The guy at the Apple store said "Now thats a Brick" "I've never seen or heard of one this bad!"
I bought the phone with little to no info on it. I was told that it froze after several failed attempts at loading IOS 6.
Now... It will only turn on if plugged into wall, it will show black, then apple, then "connect to itunes" screen and thats it. As soon as I unplug, it dies. If I try power off, it turns back on and freezes in same place. Reset, same. And unabale to Factory restore cuz I cant unplug from wall. Im asuming its in dfu, nothing works.
When connected to USB,no power, no response from pc (win xp) or Itunes. Although... I swear I heard pc beap once as though it "found new hardware" but on inspection, Nothing.
My theories: 1) Battery is hooped. ( but I was told it worked fine a month ago) The longest I have had it charging is 4hrs and i died as soon as removed.
                        2) VCC conductor. Would explain USB issue.
                        3) The phone was "jailbroke" and IOS6 did not like that. Isnt there programs to reverse this?
                        4) IOS6 interupted, then phone got factory restored. Is it possible there is No "OS" on it?
I never touched an Iphone untill 2 days ago, and I have read and tried every troubshooting solution I could find. If I can fix this I'll be an expert!
    Any help appreciated.

  • Sudden shutdown when charging after iOS 8.3 on iPhone 5

Anyne else experience this?  Within 5 minutes and of being on a charger (tried multiple iPhone and iPad chargers with official Lightning cables) my iPhone 5 will shut down suddenly. It then starts back up a few minutes later.
I first saw this because my lock screen kept saying I needed to enter my PIN after a restart, every morning. I suspect it may be overheating and doing a thermal shutdown, but I've seen it happen when it isn't hot.
    It started with 8.3.
I've done a full reset and it still happens. Wanted to see if this is known before I downgrade To 8.2 to see if that helps.

I have experienced the same problem with my iPhone 4S. Also, spontaneous restarts of the phone while listening to podcasts with the Apple podcast app AND while listening to audiobooks via the Apple Music/iTunes app - this has happen more than once. And yes, all since the latest iOS version of software. So much for Apple's credo of 'it just works'!!

  • Hi everybody, my Macbook air mid 2012 MD 231 suddenly shut down then i can not turn it on. I heard a sound like a fuse is blown or something like that. Did any system break or burnt? I did not charge at that moment. Plz help

my Macbook air mid 2012 suddenly turn off after a strange sound (like the sound òf a fuse has blown or something like that) and I also feel a burnt smell too while i am watching a film on the internet and did not charge the laptop at this moment. The sound was from the left of it, and now just a dark screen , even I tried charging it (still has green light at the charge tool). I bought it on 13st April 2013, not often use.
I love apple and i am so sad that a new product which i seldom use could be break so easily and outstanding. It's so late in my country now but i am too disappoint about the trouble so i am writing with hope of supporting from Apple and the community.
    Please help , thank bro

You will have to take it to an Apple Store for repair.

Downloaded new iOS for iPhone 5. Now the handset is running hot, keeps freezing on different screens, won't charge on official charger ( only charges on crap poundland one) and battery is loosing 1% every two minutes! I've closed all apps and reset the complete phone but no luck. Any one know what else I can try apart from a new phone?

I have done a factory reset at 45% battery. After the reset it's still hot and at 35% now

  • Hi! I'm just having a little trouble when it comes to battery charging of my iPhone 5 with its new iOS 7! It doesn't indicates that the battery is fully charge unlike the old version of iOS! They said it should be pulsating but it's not

Hi! I'm just having a little trouble when it comes to battery charging of my iPhone 5 with its new iOS 7! It doesn't indicates that the battery is fully charge unlike the old version of iOS! I already read some reviews and discussion about this. They said that the lightning bolt should pulsate when charging but it's not!

Thanks for the replies. It took a while not hearing anything so thought I was alone. I have done many of the suggestions already. The key here is that it occurs on both phones with apps, and phones still packaged in a box.
A Genius Bar supervisor also checked his Verizon data usage log and found the same 6 hour incremental use. Suprisingly, he did not express much intrigue over that. Maybe he did, but did not show it.
I think the 6 hour incremental usage is the main issue here. I spoke with Verizon (again) and they confirmed that all they do is log exactly when the phone connected to the tower and used data. The time it records is when the usage started. I also found out that the time recorded is GMT.
What is using data, unsolicited, every 6 hours?
    Why does it change?
Why does it only happen on the iPhone 5 series and not the 4?
Since no one from Apple seems to be chiming in on this, and I have not received the promised calls from Apple tech support that the Genius Bar staff said I was suppose to receive, it is starting to feel like something is being swept under the rug.
I woke up the other day with another thought ... What application would use such large amounts of data? Well ... music, video, sound and pictures of course. Well ... what would someone set automatically that is of any use to them? hmmm ... video, pictures, sound. Is the iPhone 5 succeptible to snooping? Can an app be buried in the IOS that automatically turns on video and sound recording, and send it somewhere ... every 6 hours? Chilling. I noted that the smallest data usage is during the night when nothing is going on, then it peaks during the day. The Genius Bar tech and I looked at each other when I drew this sine wave graph on the log print outs during an appointment ...
